[Music] [Music] so if you haven't heard of this iconic california destination big sur is basically a huge stretch of coastline between carmel and san simeon it's on scenic highway one pretty much right in between san francisco and la so if you're on like a pch road trip or just going from one city to the other this is a well worth it detour it's been on my bucket list for so long and i've gotta say it lived up to the hype might have even surpassed it basically the goal of this video is to show you guys what to do in big sur if you can only come for one day ideally you can come for a few days because it is incredible a massive area of untouched land and there's so many things to do so much to see so much to hike so ideally spend more than one day here but if you can only spend one day here like us here is exactly what you should do to have the best day ever let's get into the video and i hope you guys enjoy [Music] this is the realities of coming to big sur on a saturday so many people we're getting our steps in for the day all the way and around the corner i assume it's gonna be like this for like many of the places we go to we shall see [Music] okay so we're at our first stop in the lobos state natural reserve and it's a giant area with all of these different trails that you can go on different beaches different coves so we asked the park ranger kind of like if there was one place we have to go where should we go and he recommended us to walk down lace lichen trail so we're on that now and we're heading to cypress grove trail apparently it's beautiful so i'm really excited [Music] this water is so blue i was not expecting this water to be this gorgeous this is something else i can already see why big sur is so like world renowned guys and we already hear sea lions so we're gonna have to go find them somewhere this is so cool [Music] [Applause] this is amazing we did try to go down the sea lion point trail because we could hear the sea lions from the trail so we're like where are they we go down and it ended up being closed halfway through i didn't say that until we got there but uh you can still hear the sea lions so i assume you know you can see them sometimes if you go down that trail and it's open you can see them but yeah we are now heading to our second [Music] stop [Music] everyone up there just freaked out it's pretty epic okay so about 20 minutes south of where we just were in our second stop and we are at the iconic bixby creek bridge and you probably recognize this from a lot of different movies tv shows commercials it's one of the most photographed spots in california if not the u.s if you're a fan of big little eyes like me you're fangirling right now because this was in every single episode of big little eyes [Music] yeah this is an absolutely iconic place to go in big sur and i highly recommend going to the north part of the bridge for photos so there's like a little parking lot off the side of the road there's all of these little areas where you can kind of hike down and look at these little uh vistas so we hiked down quite a ways and found this little spot all to ourself and it is beautiful the water like i i honestly was not expecting it to be this incredible it's so clear it's this like dark turquoise it's amazing so the majority of big sur is along scenic highway one which is absolutely beautiful instead of going across the bridge i was reading a bunch of blog posts and everyone was saying that one of the hidden gems that is often missed by people traveling here because it's very low key looking it's old coast road and it's a dirt road on the northern side of bixby creek bridge and apparently it's one of the most beautiful rewarding 11 mile detours that you can do if you're here and so we're gonna try it out and see how we like it [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] they have been running in front of us for so long i don't know why they're not just going in the grass just sprinting oh my god there you go yay that was so cool that was really cool well they had plenty of chances to do that except every single chance they pick they try to go right into a wall oh my god okay that was definitely worth it don't you think oh yeah that was so cool it's an 11 mile detour um it feels like a lot more than 11 miles i will say there was a point where we were like are we going the right way but by the end i think by miles six or seven i started seeing some mile markers so keep an eye out for that but it is 11 miles it lets you out at andrew meller state park i think is called and you turn left to keep going south and you turn right to go north again um so we're heading south now we're trying to go find a place to eat lunch but we're first we're almost trying to find someone to get gas because we are a little low so yeah that's another thing before you come out here there really is not a lot of gas stations restaurants at all so make sure you're kind of good on gas before you come out but i definitely recommend doing that uh detour it was amazing just know that it is all on a dirt road very windy steep and a lot of rocks so make sure your vehicle yeah i would definitely have an off-road vehicle make sure you can handle it the other thing is as you're driving down this road you will be surrounded by a lot of private property so people live out there so you're totally fine to drive on that road just obviously don't you know turn left or right just keep going straight down the road and you're trespassing so yeah but it's really really cool we found gas dylan how much is uh gas um i gotta i gotta give them an artery or something like it's six dollars for regular so i'm only gonna put in like i'm literally gonna put in two gallons that's so insane yeah and there's no cell service here so you can't check any other gas stations around here so everyone fill up your gas tank before you come to big sur do it the face of a happy man so dylan you got lunch yeah you're funny i just put four gallons in and spent 24. yeah i'll be buying lunch everyone so we wanted to eat lunch at nepenthe which is like a beautiful restaurant right over the cliffs overlooking the water i knew it was gonna be really busy so i went and it was a 45 minute wait we were a little too hungry for that so we went down to the other restaurant i'm blinking on the name but i'll put up on the screen um it was really good it was a little cafe looking over the ocean we got some champagne and some food and it was great just what we needed so we're now heading to our fourth spot on our big sur day of fun and i am so excited for this one this is gonna be epic [Music] [Music] so our fourth stop was julia pfeiffer burns state park and i've heard that mc way falls was insane i looked at all these photos it looked humongous 80-foot waterfall and i'm not gonna lie i don't wanna say it's disappointing because it's incredible the beach is beautiful and it's a waterfall but definitely is a little anticlimactic if i had an extra day i would totally hike through the state park so if you're here for more than one day definitely come back and do some of the hikes because they look amazing um but we just don't have time for that it's about 4 30 p.m and we are heading to our final stop of big sur so let's go [Music] we are at pfeiffer beach this is our last stop and one of the most recommended spots for us to go by you guys on instagram everyone told me to come here yeah this is our final stop and it is stunning like a mountain goat nice how's the view up there all right over here i just got mr adventure over here i want to go this is so cool it's literally like all the water is just like surging through the rocks every two seconds [Music] [Music] oh you messed that up so bad that was so uncoordinated of me i don't feel the wetness yet maybe they're waterproof yeah so that is it for today's video i really hope you guys enjoyed it honestly we had the best day we got here around 11am and it's currently almost seven now so we're a little tired but i really feel like we got the big sur experience definitely if you enjoyed this video please subscribe to my channel and like this video because it really helps me out thanks so much again for watching and i will see you guys in the next one [Laughter] bye you
