hi it's Lynn Reiter of Linda Raynor comm career strategist speaker and coach and in this video I'm going to talk about five red flags but you should look out for that will help you to assess whether you should take a job offer with a company you've just interviewed at because the last thing we want is for you to take a job offer that you're unhappy with and with a company that you're not happy with and that will make you want to leave after a couple of months red flag number one they've had multiple people turnover in that job in a short period of time so this looks fairly obvious if has had a lot of people fill that role one after the next in a short period of time it basically means that it may not be the best job because either one people are quitting because the environment isn't great or the work is just too much or two people are getting fired every time they join so you want to figure out based on what you can look at through LinkedIn how long the most recent person that's in that role has held that position for so basically you would look to see in that company for that particular job title who that person is how long has held that job for whether it's in the last six months or the last six years and then if you can try to ask the recruiter for some inside information well why is that person leaving why is this ruled empty or needing to be filled once you can gage that information it will help you to determine whether there is a high turnover rate for this job and help you to assess whether you really want to take on the position red flag number two you just have a feeling your gut is your best friend when it comes to helping you to make decisions and the way to know that is by assessing how you feel if you just don't feel excited if you just don't have this burning desire to take this position then listen to that and trust that because maybe it's something inside of you that's telling you this isn't the right position to take on red flag number three the hard managers don't seem excited when talking to you about this job and about working there anytime that an interviewer lacks enthusiasm and really just kind of has a bit of an aloof feel or by the both them when you ask them about the job and you ask them about the company that's a red flag that's tell knew that perhaps they're not all that excited to be there either and that can indicate whether you're going to be excited about working there so you really want to gauge and make sure that you can read the body language of the interviewers that you're meeting because that will give you a sense in a feel of what the energy is like in this environment in this company and whether this is going to be a match for you red flag number for the company is not doing well financially sometimes it's hard to determine what the financial status of a company really is especially if they're privately owned and you can't find any public financial statements about them but of course as part of your own due diligence and being a good job candidate you need to do research and figure out where this company is heading it's one of two directions up or down and if you can figure that out even that piece of it whether the company's stable or in there growing or whether they're in a shrinking markets and they're facing some spirit of competition due to new technology for example then that will help you to steer you in the right direction as to whether to accept a job offer with that position with that company or not and finally red flag number five overly enthusiastic HR employees that don't know how to take no for an answer so this one's a bit trickier because when there's a situation where an HR employee is super enthusiastic about taking you on as an employee it can be an indication of two things to very extreme things the first could be that perhaps they know that nobody actually wants to take this job or that they've had a lot of projections of job offers in the past and they see that you're an amazing candidate and they want to snatch you up before you have the chance that they know and that's why they're being enthusiastic or it could be an indication that it's just they really like you and that they really want to take you on and has nothing to do with anybody not wanting the job it's just simply that you're a great candidate and they really like you so you want to be cognizant of that and pay attention and do the rest of the due diligence as indicated from red flags number one to four and make sure that there are no factors that leads you to think that this position is something that people don't actually want to take on once you can figure that out and that will help you to make that decision so there you have it five simple red flags to look out for to help you to determine whether to accept a job offer from a company you just interviewed at so now you know these tips but do you know if your resume is as polished and perfect as it could be
