5 Must Have Mods For the 3rd Gen Toyota Tacoma | 2016-2022

what's up everybody this is kevin shanahara welcome back to the channel in this video we're going to be going over the top five must-have mods on the 2016 to 2022 tacoma or the third gen tacoma let's get started [Music] [Music] so number one is lift tires and wheels i'm gonna package this all together because if you're gonna lift your truck you're going to be doing your wheels and tires together this is going to be pretty universal for any generation but we're going to be focusing on the third gen here so to keep this video pretty short i'm just going to do a quick overview of the lift and the wheels and the tire setup that i'm running in the future i'll be doing more in-depth videos on the lift and tires and stuff like that because there's so many different options you could go with but on this one i went with a suspension lift it's a 3.5 inch rough country lift the tires are 285 70 17. before i ran the 295 70 17s but those were a little too big those are close to a 34 this one's closer to a 33 the wheels that i ran in the past were the nv 305s which are really popular but they have that fake bead lock i really like the clean look of the mr316s i believe so overall i really like this setup the reason why it's a must-have in the beginning is because it completely changes the look of the truck i think stock they don't look great but once they're lifted you put some tires and wheels on they look amazing they also increase the off-road capabilities and it makes it a lot more enjoyable to drive it looks great overall i just think it's the best option number two is a pop and lock handle so a lot of people won't mention this on their top five mods because it's not the sexiest and the coolest thing that you can get but this is a huge game changer so i'll show you guys kind of what i'm talking about here so this is a 2016 i'm not sure when they s started doing this but i believe they did until like 2020 you had to use this key back here to unlock and lock your tailgate with a pop and lock you get installed and then you can connect it to um your passenger door switch so when that door locks then it'll know to lock this as well so this is unlocked right now lock it up and you're good to go um this system is a little bit louder there's a little bit of a better option out there um but overall i think this is the best bang for your buck number three is the prinzu rack so you have a lot of different options for different types of racks that you can get i really like this one the best because it's modular it's clean and it's a great fitment overall another reason why i like this rack is because you can install these light bars it's super flush they have a lot of great options with different add-ons and different things that you can add to these racks number four is a trd pro grille or the raptor lights this is one of my favorite options because it completely changes the look of the truck in the beginning i didn't really like it because it was a fake version of the trd pro or the fake raptor but if you look at the original grille on these it looks terrible in my opinion and once you change this it's a super quick easy cheap mod and it completely changes the look of the truck last but not least number five is the pedal commander so i'll bring you into the truck over here so this is one of the easiest mods that you can do it just hooks right up to your obd port and you can change it from sport plus city sport and then you can even go to eco the truck's not on right now so that's probably why it's not changing and then you can adjust your sensitivity here this basically completely adjusts your throttle response before people used to have to do the um throttle body spacer and things like that but on this it's all electronic and it's like night and day a lot of people will have to do the ov tune and that's a great plus on top of this which really helps your shifting but once you do the pedal commander it makes a huge difference that's it for this video thanks for watching in the future we're going to be posting a lot more videos on tacomas this one we're actually going to be selling even though i just finished building it i'm going to be trading for a different tacoma so stay tuned just check out what kind of truck that is there's going to be a ton more content coming out soon so make sure to like comment and subscribe and thanks for checking us out see in the next one [Music] you
