yo what's going on guys mush back at it with another video and we are coming up on the Steam summer sale it is a time that is quite festive throughout the years and uh the summer sale brings forth with it for me a lot of nostalgia I remember my first summer sale back in the summer of 2012 quite the time and quite a lot of money spent and if I look back at it from the summer sale of 2012 there's a couple things I wish people would have told me that I'm going to go over in this video uh I like to do this before every major Steam Sale because I know there's a lot of people getting into PC gaming or might be looking to pick up a lot of games they might have gotten out of college have their first real job and have disposable income you get the idea even if you have disposable income you shouldn't dispose it all willy-nilly just buying games that you're never going to play uh Steam and not steam's fault but it really does seem like throughout the years uh valve and different Publishers and developers have made millions of upon millions of dollars from people buying games that they're never going to play and trust me I have fallen to that I will continue to fall for that from time to time I mean if I look up the games I bought in 2023 there are certainly a couple games that I have still yet to play but hopefully I'll get around to them but want to go over five tips I think you guys should be mindful of and uh let's get right into it number one and I think it is the most important tip of them all it is totally okay you guys I get it come June the 27th you're going to open open up the steam store you're going to look at 75% off you're going to look at 85% off damn it you're going to look at 90% off and the dopamine Rush is real buying those games discounted however remember that it is okay to just skip the sale in entirety and Tackle your backlog I want you guys and those of you that this is applicable to look through your backlog right now look through the games you have in your steam Library how many games do you have that you still want to a play or B replay currently there aren't a ton of big games coming out that I really am eager to play uh this month in particular a little bit more quiet for my taste of gamees so literally every single game I am currently playing is a replay and I like to do that all the time I like to replay games all the time do you do you have games that you want to replay and you want to get to those plus you want to get to the games in your backlog well then if that's the case assess that and yes if there's a deal that's super super spicy and you want to pick it up uh go for it but the idea of adding 10 15 20 games to your card spending $150 to $200 yes while it might look uh spicy while those deals might look very attractive really assess when you're going to get to those games and if it would be better spent uh spending time tackling your backlog and I don't know doing other things with your life backlog included but also prioritizing you know your other needs throughout life that is totally okay you guys and by the time you get caught up with your backlog you finish some games in your backlog look the steam winter sale is going to come around it's not that far away it was just a few months ago it doesn't seem that long ago that we were going over these same topics when it came to the winter sale and look how many of you assess if you watch that video six six or so months ago how many of you have made a significant dent in your backlog throughout that time there's been a lot of big games in early 2024 as well but how much time have you spent through uh you know getting through your backlog if it's not a lot well maybe it's a good time to skip out on the entirety of this s and Tackle your backlog and Summer's always a pretty good time with that number two now for those of you buying games which is this is relevant too make sure to cross check pric on various platforms GMG humble um you know you guys know the spots they all have great deals and remember 75% off back in the day that was the magic number you see something 75% off and you're like all right that's a pretty good buy I I think I can uh muster up S uh you know the money to pick up a game that's 75% % off well a game like like a dragon Yakuza like a dragon excuse me that might be 75% off well 75% off of its 15 $59.99 price point would bring it down to $499 guys Yakuza like a dragon was just in the humble Choice with high-fi rush and a bunch of other games for $12 like like I said 75% off certainly still holds some weight and that is the number that you should be looking for but it doesn't hold the weight that it used to just because something's 75% off or even 80% off if you're not going to get to it uh in the relative near future it's something to assess that maybe down the line that game will be available in a Humble Bundle maybe that game will be available at a GMG at a lower price or so on and so forth or maybe at some point that game will be given out free on the Epic gam store if you can stomach to use the Epic gam store or on Steam directly these things do happen so just keep that in mind yes if you want to play the game 75% off is usually a good number to look for but it doesn't hold the weight that it used to and you should cross check with GMG and humble and then you should also think about the fact that even if it's 75% off it could end up in a Humble Bundle in the future it could end up at a Deeper Discount with your XP membership at GMG so on and so forth so just be mindful of that number three this is something that has really become a big thing I do throughout the summer sale and the winter sale these days look through the smaller games Hidden games that aren't available on other eail these are games that uh you know do go on sale from time to time but steam is the spot to buy them they're just not getting a lot of traction a lot of people don't know about them and games that I'm talking about is something like a long gone days long gone days is a really solid turn-based narrative driven RPG is it Blow Away probably not but I thought it had a really compelling political story and really just enjoyed it and uh yeah that game I thought was really good would I spend $25 on it probably not but if it's on sale for 10 bucks you know that's a game that a lot of you guys probably don't own and I always pick out a game like long God days because it fits the criteria of being a good game being a game nobody knows about and being a game that's not available on other eilers there's other smaller titles uh you know I can mention titles like residents of Fate I mentioned that in a recent video but residence of Fate is another game that if you're a fiend for jrpgs which I know a lot of you guys are it's a game a lot of you guys don't own maybe uh you know a title like residence of fake could be something you look at picking up and there's so many other games at this level that are smaller scale they just come out don't get a lot of attention um I believe a game like El Shai Ascension of the Metatron is sold on other platforms uh other detailers but that's another game I imagine a lot of you guys don't have that game and uh it's a pretty decent outing it's got 277 Steam Reviews like that's nothing damx Mock and another smaller scale game that I'm sure will go on sale a lot of you guys don't have it uh that's why I am an ad kid for hey maybe just skip out on the sale entirely but for those of you that are like I own every good game on Steam that's just probably not true it just probably isn't if you have a wide pallet of games and game genres that you're into you probably don't own every good game troubleshooter abandoned children look up that game that game's quite good as well that's another game I recommend so just look through for the smaller games you might find some titles that really do resonate with you number four this is super important because the most attra attrative games to you guys are probably going to be more of the recent releases and if you're buying something at a higher price point an example balers Gate 3 like a dragon infinite wealth Persona 3 reload Grand blue fantasy relink Dragon Dogma 2 ghost of sushima if that goes on sale Horizon forbidden West so on and so forth make sure you play those games in the immediate future why is that because the value of those recently released games are dropping faster than any other game on the market why is that that's because those games have the room to drop in value like a dragon infinite wealth if it goes on sale for $45 guess what the floor for a game like that is a lot lower than $45 it can get down to $30 it can get down to $20 oh you damn right it can get down to $15 and it eventually will same can be said for Persona 3 reload same could be said for Grand blue fantasy reling same thing could be said for Dragon Dogma 2 is it going to take time absolutely but the time is going to go by if you don't play those games anyway and if you're buying them at a premium price point like a $45 for like a dragon infinite wealth you're playing yourself if you don't play those games in the immediate future or relatively uh in the relative near future I should say so definitely that is probably the most important uh piece of knowledge and tip that I can give you guys because those are the games that are going to be attractive to most people a Ballers Gate 3 a like a dragon infinite wealth the games at that level recent releases games that have been reviewed really really well those are the games that you're going to be like hey 45% off on that that's a great deal let me go pick it up and yeah if you're going to play it soon buy all means pick it up like a dragon infinite wealth is my front runner for game of the year right now I absolutely recommend you guys but from the standpoint of saving money and being smart with your wallet don't buy like a dragon infinite wealth if you're not going to play it literally within the next month because by August it could get even cheaper it could get cheaper on a different etailer these things absolutely will happen and let's say you buy infinite wealth and buy God forbid you don't play the game like 3 four years it could totally end up in a humble monthly it absolutely could like a dragon just did uh the first game so keep that in mind and lastly my number five tip again something that's important for anybody that buys games regularly on Steam utilize the steam wish list feature I say it over and over again but it's worth reiterating at all times if you see something that maybe the price just isn't low enough for you um or you just don't have the room to add it to your backlog right now add it to the wish list you guys these games come out so often and I'm telling you guys because I am a victim to it I find a game and I I think it looks interesting I think it looks compelling and then I totally forget about it because gaming is so what have you done for me lately kind of a business and I could just go through my wish list right now and there are several games that I totally forgot about look I recently added a game to my wish list it's not out yet but I highly recommend you guys to add it to your wish list list as well it's out next month let me just go pull it up because I forget the name of it but it looks absolutely fantastic um bow path of the teal Lotus it's a game being published by Humble it's out July 17th you I would totally forget about this game if the wish list feature did not exist but games like this added to your wish list and anything you see uh and this doesn't go for just a period during the steam sales but it definitely makes it beneficial when a steam sale comes around if you've been utilizing the wish list feature because guess what you go on the wish list it's organized really well for you if anything's discounted it'll be listed right there and you could just scroll and scroll and see whatever's on your wish list is on sale I've got like 700 plus games 800 plus games on my wish list I know some of you guys are like that as well it's a feature that is so so advantageous to utilize I think wish list in a lot of regards are for you know people having a wish list and hoping their friends buy it for you I think that's how wish list came to be but really wish list these days for me on Steam is just to keep track of all the games coming out that I have a vested interest into and B path of the TL lootus coming out July 18th uh is exactly a game like that listed July 17th on Steam but July 18th is where is what the trailer says so figure that one out but the game looks great and I recommend it and I recommend utilizing the wish list feature year round really uh it is going to make your life a lot easier but that is going to do it for me again exciting time ahead with the Steam summer sale but remember it's not the be all and all and I think most of you guys have figured it out but I always feel like these are worth reiterating for those that are new to the channel so on and so forth but that's going to do it for me your thoughts down below as always guys happy playing your games happy skipping the SC uh skipping the sale entirely and tackling the backlog I got a lot of games to play maybe I'll pick up a game or two we'll see we'll see what's discounted and everything like that but again your thoughts down below and I will catch you guys in the next one peace out hey what's going
