borderlands theories are something i like to delve into every so often but sometimes not every theory has enough ground to warrant its own separate video sometimes it's just a single piece of dialogue one small connection or just a coincidence that can create a very fun and unique idea and this video is just a small collection of some of the more out there lesser theories that can potentially be true but don't exactly hold your breath with every new entry dlc add-on and so on new questions are always raised whether they be about new characters plot lines that are introduced or small snippets of information given it's always inevitable that something curious is destined to be dropped that doesn't always get an immediate answer and the son of cromerx dlc in borderlands 2 gave us something very curious in the victims of vault hunter's side mission various assassins were gathered who had a vendetta against our main characters and wanted them dead but as the mission goes on we learned that each assassin's scent was killed by someone close to our main characters axtons was his ex-wife gage was her dad maya's was tanis sal was his grandmother kriegs was sammy an ex-doctor who experimented on him and was sorry but zeros was simply a character named one to zero one huh that's irritatingly cryptic he's the only character who was helped out by someone we weren't aware of based on context everyone just implied that there must be a group of assassins each with a number it can either be based on the time in which they became their number zero was the first or technically prototype assassin and all those who subsequently followed were given a number or if like the true anime we know borderlands to be then the numbers are used as a ranking system for each assassin's skill and strength zero is the strongest with each number following him of lesser power other capable assassins part of the same organization that's the conclusion most people came to when they learned there was another numbered assassin but then that theory began to shift a little bit when borderlands 3 got of all things a cosmetic dlc in november of 2020 the multiverse final form pack was released in which the four main vault hunters underwent a design change in what would have happened had they not become vault hunters but instead pursued a different life path the character relevant here is zayn apparently in this alternate universe he becomes a renowned assassin known as assassin 1. with this fans began theorizing that zayn was the assassin who saved zero's life the two are familiar with each other as upon meeting during the events of borderlands 3 he mentions that the two of them went to the same assassins bar so they are aware of each other's existence and have a relation to an organization but as many people would state he's only assassin one in an alternate universe now unless borderlands wants to do the marvel thing and open up a multiverse full of alternate characters lives intersecting and bleeding into our main one most people are right though we are unaware of how he obtained the moniker of assassin 1. if it was a name he was only given because he didn't become a vault hunter then it nullifies the theory but if it were a name he always had cooked up or was known by in lesser circles then he still could have always been assassin 1. if this theory is true then it actually makes the victims of vault hunter side mission funny on his end because the whole thing was organized by sparky flint captain flynn's kid meaning he's zayn's nephew so if he helped get him killed then that's kinda wild but it's already kind of weird that he doesn't care about either the borderlands 1 and 2 vault hunters killing three members of his family i don't think he mentions it ever once one of the more out there theories came to us during the gun's love and tentacles dlc in borderlands 3. in that add-on we are introduced to a new character named burton briggs he's one of the more thought out and crafted npcs the franchise has gotten he doesn't play a major role in the larger story going on but he's given a full on emotional side quest and goes through a whole character journey throughout it but this isn't about the story that's told rather one of his old flames one of his casual dialogue options when interacting with him speaks of a one-eyed woman who came into his life and i guess disappeared she blew into my life like a category 5 hurricane full of bluster and with one eye now if i could just remember who she was such an oddly specific descriptor has led few people to believe the woman he speaks about was captain scarlet from borderlands 2. she's the only one-eyed vixen we've gotten in the entire franchise and the personality he describes certainly seems to match so delivering a very specific detail that matches only one singular character we know of fans can begin to form ideas about what these characters have been up to since we last saw them captain scarlett's one of the few lucky antagonists who've managed to escape with their life despite making an enemy of the vault hunters after her dlc we know she wound up running into grandma flexington when she and a few other brigands were robbing her retirement home there she admitted she was defeated fair and square and there were no hard feelings on her end since then fans along with myself have been awaiting her return to serve as a more friendly ally but word of what she's been up to and where she's gone still remain a mystery judging by the story of grandma flexington her piracy and looting remain the trick of her trade and she's likely not gonna give it up it is part of her identity after all so if burton's story really is about her what was she doing on xylourgos it's possible that captain scarlett and her new crew came to the planet in hopes to loot it but wound up like everyone else running into githian's cult and leaving soon thereafter wanting nothing to do with them but while she was there she wound up meeting and having some fun times with the local private eye it would explain how a one-eyed woman wound up entering burton's life so suddenly and subsequently not being present during the actual story for someone who suffers from memory loss being able to remember the impact this woman had on him had to be closer to recent history than further from it if i had to guess also i'm not implying that burton's kid was captain scarlets while it is simply only one line that centers around a woman having one eye it's the smaller things that if true wind up feeling really cool being able to keep track of where certain characters have gone and what they've been up to since you last saw them is one of the fun parts about characters as a whole often times the most popular theories that tend to exist in any franchise tend to come in the form of one named character being another named character's parent unbeknownst to one or both of the parties and borderlands is no different krieg is the one where i would say most people formed the brunt of this theory in him being tina's father as a standalone character if you look at tina's backstory then you'd know that her entire family got sold out by fleshthick he was a psycho who engaged in human trafficking and was selling off test subjects to hyperion for their slag experimentation tina her mother and father were all sold off and subsequently experimented on if you listen to the echologs collected during the side mission doctor's orders then you would hear this whole ordeal and the death of tina's mother and subsequent escape of tina herself her dad is heard being tested on before the other two but unlike her mom he's never heard dying don't worry honey everything's gonna be okay with krieg's release we slowly begin to learn more information about him particularly the fact that he used to have a wife and a daughter and he too was subject to hyperian experimentation which turned him into who he is now with such similar lives and backstories many came to believe that krieg was in actuality tina's father the experimentations changed the way he looked and due to developing a split personality his psycho half was never able to communicate to tina about their relation if he ever even knew that was the basis where a lot of people latched onto this idea however as time went on and more story was added things weirdly enough both slightly reinforced this theory while also overwhelmingly debunking it ironically enough pretty much everything can be found in the fantastic foster club dlc one of the incredibly small pieces of detail that makes some people turn their head are the coins found within vault holla some of you might not have known this detail even existed but there are two types of coins that exist within on one coin is the face of maya this doesn't need any sort of explanation as we know just how important she is to him it makes sense why her imagery would be seen around krieg's mind but on the other coin is tina most fans including myself raise an eyebrow at that detail because tina and krieg are tight but they're not so close where you'd expect her to share an image on the coins with maya the most story that we have on krieg and tina together is when krieg became part of b team tina also wanted to learn to become a psycho and went to him for lessons they spent time together and i guess became close but not zoomed in detail close that's something you expect might have more to it than meets the eye also when we get an image of krieg with his family before they were gone you'd notice that his wife not his daughter just looks like tina's character model scaled up a bit to be fair all three of them are just reused assets krieg is a generic male npc the daughter is burton's kid and the wife as said is just tina i mean kinda lazy if you ask me but to include tina's character model with krieg's family is such an insane thing to do when one of if not the most popular theories already surrounds tina and him being related so if the male is supposed to be krieg and the mom looks like tina you'd assume the daughter would inherit the mom's jeans and also wind up looking like her character model thus resulting in tina's appearance but if you want to look at everything else yeah it leads to it not being true a lot of people like to point to interviews or articles where the writers talk about krieg or tina and say that it's been said that they're not related but honestly things like that can change yeah maybe before they had no interest in doing it but if they wanted they could always put it in but that doesn't seem to be what they were doing part of krieg's backstory is that before he was a psycho he was a mercenary and a capable one at that an already questionable start for explaining how he was able to be sold out by fleshstick without somehow putting up a strong force of resistance and on top of that we learnt just how he was captured by hyperion during one of his jobs as a mercenary it sent him to a hyperian testing facility where he wound up getting captured and then subsequently experimented on by dr benedict where he would create a ton of psychos but this is also one of those moments where details don't quite add up krieg's entire dlc has a heavy emphasis on dr benedict but if you remember during the victims of vault hunter side mission he was saved by someone named sammy and everyone came to the conclusion that it was dr samuels who we only hear in the echologs where she is experimenting on tina's family krieg's foster cluck never mentions her despite having had a role in experimenting with him and subsequently saving him after the fact yeah as a doctor she likely experimented on a lot of people but it's odd that the victims of vault hunter's side mission chose to have sammy be the one who saved him only to never be heard from again so while largely debunked there's still some weird oddities okay when you talk about crazy crackpot theories this is most certainly one of the wildest ideas fans have had crazy earl is a character who has been in the game since borderlands 1 and since then his entire role has been to serve largely as a vendor in the first game he was kinda just there tanis gave him a piece of the vault key but it was stolen since then he'd become a procurer of rare materials in the timeline of things he first started collecting moonstones on elpis during the pre-sequel and once he returned to pandora he started trading things for iridium most people chalk this up to him being crazy i mean it's part of his name after all man just likes shiny rocks but for some they figured there could be some narrative reason and this is where the crazy idea of earl having had some connection to sirens was born while some people like to joke that he himself is a siren in the same way they'd like to do that with brick others have latched on to the idea that he may have had a daughter or wife in his past who was a siren and thus he was collecting these rare rocks for their sake so if true the question is why would a siren need iridium or moonstones we know iridium is effectively a steroid to sirens it enhances their power exponentially but like any drug it is very dangerous as one can become physically dependent on it and unable to stop consuming or risk dying as in the case of angel when jack started pumping her full of it to charge the vault key moonstones never quite had the same relevance to the narrative as iridium so we can't say that they function similarly they were treated just as rare but it never actually led to anything in the story regardless while it is a very dangerous element there's no saying that it couldn't help a dying siren the idea that earl's daughter for the sake of this hypothetical was born a siren but at the same time with a severe birth defect where the only way to keep her alive was by feeding her iridium and supercharging her and since this would have taken place before borderlands 2 iridium would have been extremely hard to find as a reminder it was always there it was a layer of pandora's earth it just broke its way through to the surface in large quantities after borderlands 1. so in theory you could still find it if you went to the right places so earl would have been trading whatever he could so he could get his hands on iridium but as the tale would go he couldn't get enough and his daughter died and thus he became traumatized in the same way a character like tina was traumatized and used a grenade to escape hyperion's capture thus latching onto explosives from then on out in the exact moment where everything stemmed from earl had lost someone he cared about because he couldn't collect enough iridium and thus he never stopped hoarding and collecting as much as he could trading whatever random knickknacks he had just to stockpile as much of it as possible insane yes the entire idea stems only because he likes to collect rocks but it's simultaneously a very funny thing to do give a seemingly random unimportant character an incredibly tragic backstory just because i think it'd make a great dlc get on it gearbox now this is an idea i've had in the back of my mind for a while now and i've always liked the idea of it and it still can likely be what happens the whole thing centers around marcus or more so his narration each of the core main titles along with a dlc here or there has marcus narrating the events that transpired as though they were a story so you want to hear a story huh so you want to hear another story huh so you want to hear a story huh a tale of adventure across the stars come listen to old have i got a story for you and this idea doesn't revolve around everything being just a story while it would be a bold comedic choice to reveal everything was made up i do think that would be a major letdown for most people what i'm getting at is everything has already happened the entire story and plot line of where the borderlands universe goes has ended with the vault hunters victorious if it was a giant intergalactic alien war that threatened to destroy the universe our characters saved the day and marcus is evidence as he lived to tell the tale of all the heroes who helped contribute through time in modern day marcus is still a fairly ruthless and cold-hearted businessman obsessed with money yet in the stories he's often recounting these events to at the very least one orphan it's already unlike him to be in the presence of a child but to be telling them a story as if they were bonding is a very soft thing for a man like him to do in all of the games and such we've yet to see who this child is or ever hear mention of them and that could be because they don't exist yet marcus is recounting the stories to someone who wasn't alive when it all happened meaning some great grand event took place that he felt deserved to be known as legendary as the tales of the vaults were before each of the games are just a story but a story of what transpired what i like about this theory is that the only thing you really know is that the heroes won at what cost no one knows marcus is the only character you could say survived but everyone else's fate is left a mystery how many named characters were lost for this victory is the child a descendant of someone marcus was close to who died who knows but this theory is one of my personal favorites and something i think has a decent chance of being true but otherwise you ended that story pretty well for a dirty little orphan thanks ah don't mention it i gotta teach somebody to tell these stories when i'm gone might as well be you so there you have it those were just some random borderlands theories that exist but don't quite have the biggest leg to stand on what do you think of these theories do you like them think that they were plausible or were they all just stupid let me know your thoughts in the comments below and if you have any wild borderlands theories of your own then post those as well but anyway thank you guys for watching like the video if you liked it subscribe for more borderlands content in the future and until next time i'll see in the next video [Music] you
