hey campers we're going to cover five fire building techniques that are going to have you cover it in any kind of situation you'll be in let's get right to it with all five examples today we're going to be using the zip all-purpose premium fire starter burns hot for 18 minutes touch one match to it and it goes like crazy really nice stuff first fire is the classic tepee we've all seen this we have our tinder in the middle zip fuel and then we have a little like a smaller tepee of sticks around it and then we burn and put a nice heat beer on the top pros for the classic tepee style campfire it burns the hottest it's great for burning with this a little bit damp and if you have to it's great for burning wood that's a little bit green cons because it burns so hot it's going to burn through fuel the fastest you're going to use the most wood in this kind of style and also it doesn't make a very good coal bed for cooking the log cabin style my take on this is to do two logs tinder all the way across and then move into regular sized logs pros of the log cabin is that it makes a really nice coal bed for cooking cons is that it doesn't burn quite as hot as the tepee style cold outside stick to the tepee the upside down campfire ordinarily when you build a campfire you're starting out with tender kindling and then logs you're doing the opposite here you're starting out with a tight pack of logs and you're moving your way up to kindling finally tinder in this case we're using a zip fire starter so it burns completely different than ordinary fire pros of the upside-down fire I thought it burns for a very very long time unattended which makes it absolutely perfect for a fireplace in your home cons are that it takes a long time to set up you have to find the right would you get that a nice tight pack and in my opinion that just knot is fun because who wants to start a fire and then not add to it and tend to the fire the lean-to is probably style a campfire that I personally use more than anything else it's incredibly easy to set up you just lay a log down lay your tinder down lay your kindling across the log and you're ready to go pros of this style of fire they're great for the wind the wind we're coming this way we have our log set up perpendicular to the wind you can tuck your firestarter right under the log and lay your kindling and you're ready to go cons that you're not going to get a very uniform coal bed and it's not great for heat generation last but not least the Starfire it's a very classic style fire that you maybe have seen in old westerns pretty easy to set up you're going to set up your tinder in the middle and do a little bit of kindling that's going to start to create a coal bed and then you'll slowly push the wood in either a three point or five point star from the edges pros of this style are that it burns for a very very long time if you were going to sleep under the stars next to a fire this is the way to go you need more heat you kind of wake up midnight and you just keep pushing a log or two or three more into the coals cons are that that's really all it's good for it's it's a poor cooking fire and you really wouldn't use it for anything else but if you do plan to sleep one of the stars and this is the way to go so those are the five styles of fire that should have you covered in any situation that you encounter we'd love to hear any other ways that you set your fire up or any tips and tricks in general for starting a campfire thanks for watching
