[Music] [Music] um how's it going guys it's uh friday night and we're about an hour out from craig's hut so that's where we're gonna be staying tonight for this victorian high country weekender we'll be checking out a few waterfalls and a few of the good tracks around there should be a lot of water crossings a lot of steep hills and if the rain holds out on uh saturday hopefully it won't be too hairy but looking forward to a good weekender away thanks just gone back to a nice basic setup tonight just got in late so it's about nine o'clock now there's a few other people camping here tonight and then whipping up some burrito bowls um and then we'll be getting to bed early so we can go check out craig's hut early in the morning so that'll be it for tonight so just leaving craig's camping ground this morning and uh heading over to the actual hut itself so it's a bit bit chilly this morning single digits but not a bad little campsite it was quite busy there's about four different people four different groups in there um and literally it you could walk to the to the hut itself so i'm just going to pop over there have a quick geez and then head on check out the rest of the stuff for the trip today it's a super exposed it's quite cool it's probably one of the more popular that's for people to visit up here it's pretty much two-wheel drive accessible and there is a little section that doesn't require a full [Applause] it's nice out of the wind here it's a little hot [Applause] we're currently on speculation track and then we're heading over to lake cobbler track which will take us to lake cobbler obviously but then uh from there there's a walk that goes up to the waterfall and that's going to be our next stop for today speculation tracks pretty rocky um it's pretty open though so there's plenty of space you could tell a trailer through here it's just a bit um bumpy and uh there is a bit of moisture on the track at the moment a little bit slippery nothing too crazy all right [Music] just got down to lake cobbler and the hut's just behind us and the lake's just in front of us so i'm gonna throw the drone out and just get some cool shots but um there's also um a massive waterfall going up from uh a walking track behind one of the campsites so we're gonna follow that up and uh see where that takes us [Music] track and it's not really defined that well so i think we're going the right way but um it's meant to be a two-hour round trip 4ks we'll see how long it takes us but apparently the views up the top are just spectacular so nice little creek crossing yeah 700 meters in we've just gone under about three k's at the moment and we haven't stopped going up hills yet so if anyone's thinking of doing this walk it's 4ks uphill 4ks downhill and as a result of all the water that clearly runs off down here it's really rocky and really washed out so probably good footwear and i'll probably take at least a liter or so of water because it's a bit tiring at least on the uphill it is [Music] but nonetheless spectacular almost at the top now probably about 100 meters to go so just made up to the top of mount cobbler uh it's a bit windy up here but it's a nice view turns out this is not where the waterfall is so we're gonna go see that on the way out of uh lake cobbler however good place to have a beer [Music] so so i've just pulled on to basin road and we're following that track down to our campsite tonight at uh top crossing hut um but on the way the we're following along on the hema but the uh the gate to get onto basin creek road is not really obvious we've actually got to open a gate and a second gate a little bit further down the track so just keep an eye out for the signs most of them will say something about seasonal closures and that's a good hint that you're in the right direction so i'm taking the track down to top crossing hut and it is extremely extremely rocky and there's a few ruts there that if you put your tires in you'll um you'll end up with your chassis on the on the deck so just to be careful with the track a little bit but it's nothing too uh too difficult but you definitely need to be in low range and just crawl down that hill otherwise you're going to be riding your brakes the entire time so so just got to top crossing hut and uh pretty nice campsite lots of space we're actually the only ones here it's really nice but it's a bit of an overcast day so we're gonna get a a bit of a fire going this afternoon and we're gonna cook up some beef brisket in the fire apart from that spectacular spot that's just in the background it's pretty old i'm not sure if this one's been rebuilt it doesn't look like it has it's um looking a little worse for wear though but have a quick check out of that creepy bed old fireplace and that's about it it's about six o'clock on saturday afternoon just got a fire started now so again cooking beef brisket tonight um it started raining and it's not too heavy but we've uh peed down the awning just to make sure it doesn't uh pull up overnight but until uh that fire's got some coals it's probably only one thing to do [Music] almost heaven west virginia [Music] [Music] is take me home to the place [Music] west virginia [Music] about probably eight hours there's a bit more water around and the tracks look a bit uh a bit sludgy this morning but that's all right we're just gonna cook up some almost breakfast and then we'll get going [Music] [Music] oh take me home i hear a voice in the morning after she calls me the radio reminds me of my home far away driving down the road i get a feeling i should have been home yesterday yesterday country rooms take me home to the place [Music] take me home to the place [Music] oh country road take me home [Music] oh country road [Music] these switchbacks are a lot of fun there's heaps of sort of clay on the top but they're also rocky as well so it's bumping you up off the line you'd like to take so it's creating a bit of enjoyment going up these hills really gotta get into it a bit sort of second gear low range and just consider that two thousand three thousand rpm which is sort of peak torque for the ranger and just give it as much as you can keep that momentum up [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] you
