$45 vs $1300 Car Stereo

oh my God I think I may have flown too close to the sun your screen is bigger than my entire head unit identical Subaru wrx's and we've been modifying them to be fun time attack race car one gets expensive cars and one gets cheaper we've upgraded the suspension tires brakes turbos and even the arrow that's right next week both cars will go head to head at the world famous Sonoma Raceway but we do have some finishing touches to install before these cars are ready for their big debut today we're buying and installing five modifications for our cars I will have five thousand dollars to spend on all of my parts well I'll have 500 to spend on all mine we'll have five minutes to research and find our part all right this is not even fair 25 years steering wheel steering wheel okay all right so my strategy for this is to kind of save money early on I just have a feeling the producers are going to drop a bomb on Us near the end when we're low on money I'm gonna go ahead and set highest priced first in my strategy is to buy the accessory on the top oh a red steering wheel might be cool I bought my what you bought yours already yeah a cool 385 that's almost your entire budget do I get the 15 more expensive wheel the only difference is a yellow stripe on top but it's fifteen dollars yeah I don't care about fifteen dollars I can't spend the money I can't do it I gotta all right it's that's sick love the yellow stitching I feel like I need to wash my hands before I touch it getting your oils all over right now I'm sorry off the top suede you don't really want to handle with bare hands racing gloves have usually leather Palms yeah suede sticks really nice yeah so for like a daily driver you want to go with like a leather or a wood but this is a Time attack car yeah a full-on race car it's got a flat bottom things got a flatter bottom than Kristen wig oh it's got a hair net on it boom there you go okay so right off the bat a little bit deeper dish I like having the wheel a little closer to me like a stock car driver basically my wheel comes with a little Swatch of a suede why I don't know it's kind of weird right out of the box I think High car's wheel is a little bit nicer we can both agree but let's see how they do in a car steering wheel install was super easy standard hub adapter quick release wheel there you go it definitely is one of the biggest things that immediately makes your car feel like a race car yes the material itself this is kind of like a little bit of a lower quality suede it's already starting to show a little wear even after driving it for just a few days yeah otherwise very happy with this wheel I think it looks great yeah and compared to the one that you chose for your 350Z you've grown up a lot yeah a little bit Yeah so for 119 bucks great budget option I spent 400 on my steering wheel let's see if we can tell a difference that's by looking at it I can tell that it's a lot a lot more expensive than my steering wheel I mean the feel of this wheel is amazing I went with a suede wheel as well and you can immediately tell just by looking at it you don't even have to touch it this is nicer suede it's got smaller pile James the feel is amazing I love it I am low team forever but I really got to agree with you that it just looks cooler it makes the interior feel nicer you know yeah one of the gripes I had with this car when we first got it I was like these are not as nice as I thought they would be inside but with this wheel and some of the other stuff that we did in this video it's really modernized the car and made it feel a lot more expensive yeah and newer yeah I think we both agree High car wins the more expensive wheel is definitely more better round two okay next one is shift off Zach what kind of shift option we get so we already have a pretty nice Cobb shift knob in there so we got to go up you know we got to spend more money highest first there we are yeah 340 dollars that's what I'm talking about Cobb style shift knob how about that I misspelled style twice now okay great hmm [Music] okay I'm done I've got my knob I'm done your shift knob is 45 yes another NRG product subtle classy tasteful this real curving fiber Maybe I don't know nice mine was 375 dollars [Music] this is the most expensive shift knob on eBay Motors better be hand carved I think it's made out of hands so it comes in a baggy oh God no I'm sad wow I don't love it it's it's loud for my car it certainly is all right so how this thing works is that there's a little plastic adapter that is held in by a tiny screw holding it to the shift knob and after a couple of days of regular shifting that little screw uh popped out and broke the plastic thing so now the knob can come off freely it's a stupid thing that I have to worry about and I can easily see us going to the track putting the normal shift knob the stock shift knob back on and just doing that that's like 50 bucks wasted you know for sure okay so first things first my shift knob stays on no matter how hard I pull it jealous of that this is maybe the one part on this car that I don't like I regret buying it I definitely regret spending as much money as I spent on it the fact that it's metal one it gets super hot and it gets wet it gets condensation even if your palms aren't sweating it gets like gooey and it grosses me out definitely not worth 400 but low carb shift knob broke yeah so it's definitely not worth it either I say we both take a big old L on there but I do think that the investing inequality shift knob is worth it you know again it's just one of the few things that you touch every time you drive [Music] things I've ever ever looked at these are things that I always buy for all my cars really yeah I love them that's pretty cool yeah they look never mind Red's cheaper I don't want anyone to think we're poor I'm gonna get black it's more okay 500 bucks for STI pedals stupid man my pedals are authentic they're from Japan and they cost five hundred dollars it's crazy it is it's crazy but you know what I'm crazy how much time we got left uh one minute one minute uh well James my pedals cost forty five dollars I don't know about these ones that was a a decision made under pressure it looks sick yeah quality wow OEM baby sir JDM STi pedals they came off of a Japanese STI now normally High team buys stuff new but one cool thing about eBay disappointing that I'm probably gonna go to the track without the shift knob or the pedals that we installed just out of considerations for safety I mean that's not very low car of you Nolan you just wasted some money I know I don't feel good about that you should apologize to the audience I'm sorry audience setting a bad example yeah crazy expensive set of STI pedals I think they look great uh they were made for the car or a version of the car apparently I think they're cool 650 bucks I don't know if I'd do that with my own money pretty steep yeah I think there's cheaper ways I can get momo or Sparco or a company like that makes them for much cheaper than 650 dollars but I do think I won because my pedals are staying on my car when we go to the track and yours are slippery and weird yeah head unit oh no head unit head unit this one has Apple carplay for 90 bucks oh this is stressful oh God you know the car stereo is not important to me we're not going to be using it at the track you're right okay 48 bucks for a head unit that has carplay supposedly so I'm really looking forward to seeing is that it has GarageBand okay I got mine it's sixteen hundred dollars too much no sounds like just the right amount what you need light head unit touch screen USB port volume knob it's probably gonna be terrible this box is over the side oh my God this is overkill dude this thing is huge it's sort of oh God the screen is way bigger this is going to block like it's gonna block your view yeah yeah I think I may have flown too close to the sun your screen is bigger than my entire head it so it fit and then when I put it in it uh just didn't line it up it looks terrible it looks terrible I'm sorry I know I I'm aware of that but you know looks aren't everything no how does it work also terribly does not have car plate uh it's a markedly worse sound quality than the stock head unit in here I used to think that like speakers were the thing that really makes the sound system good yeah head unit is like 50 of it really like the audio processing within your head unit accounts for so much and you really get what you pay for with fifty dollars this head unit looks like you bought it at a gas station is there anything that you like about your head unit it does have a charge port you know I have a USB cable you know at least you can charge your phone but you already could and that's it I think you should apologize to the audience again I'm sorry audience for many things now your head unit is virtually useless yes uh it was only 50 but I think it's a waste of fifty dollars you made your car worse yours is almost too much mine is awesome it does a lot of awesome stuff but it's so big it blocks our uh climate control we'll see what you're doing no I can't see they see I can't see them the frost it is now a co-pilot Duty yes but it the functionality is really cool having a map up while you're driving is just awesome and it really makes the car feel great it does have I think these are cheap well you generally I love it here we go got it that's close so 486 dollars total of my 500 wow Dang if I had splurged that extra 15 for that steering wheel with the yellow stripe would have gone over budget by like a dollar yeah buy one single dollar that's crazy I have 769 dollars left to spend on Vape juice [Laughter] thank you perfect all right so what do we got here we got a oil pressure gauge water temperature and oil temperature so three kind of critical readings uh that you want to keep track of and to hold them all in place got this neat little a-pillar boost pod with all three that is the hot boy special lets everyone know that you mean business and autometer is a respectable company and that's what I'm so stoked about man like these are surprisingly affordable yeah and I'm glad that I like kind of skimped on the head unit and some other stuff so I could afford this yeah these are sort of like the go-to yeah if you're normal and I'm not so my oil pressure made by deathy it's got a Mazda like six mini man on the packaging yeah dude so oil pressure oil temp water temp boost and to run my gauges I have a defi link Advanced control unit oh and hold on these boys I have this three gauge pod that's made for a Subaru it goes on the dash all right let's go put these on our car and finally finally we'll know what's in its brain [Music] of all this stuff that you put in those are the nicest piece yeah and we have those in conjunction with the Cobb unit we set it up all in the same place so it's super easy to like look over at all your vitals I don't think my oil is above 250 degrees I think that needs some adjusting but our water and oil pressure gauges seem to work even with the hot boy location love that so now if a cop pulls up next to you they know they definitely know something's up with this if the wing didn't give it away yeah yeah the gauge pod doesn't fit perfectly well but it's the same color as the other side of the car ish ish a little shinier yeah Auto Meter reputable brand does the job they're intended to do makes it seem almost silly that I spent almost two thousand dollars on my gauges let's see why wow that's so cool I think they look awesome they work really well this little pod in the middle looks OEM also they came with a control unit so uh after a lap I can go back and see what my car was doing at certain points uh I can say like oh I was uh making full Boost during this period I have a question for you though yes these are all in metric are they yeah so this is Celsius do you have an idea of like where they're supposed to be uh well I also have my phone so I guess when I'm out on track I can just Google your gauges work perfectly fine they do what they're supposed to do they're made by a reputable company but mine looks so cool especially at night I feel like I'm a member of the Midnight Club I don't know if I'm spending my own money if I would go with such a steezy set of gauges especially because there are companies like autometer that make such great products at such an affordable price point so I think that this round goes to low carb oh yeah yeah I think I agree So High Car steering wheel winds shift knob we both took an L on that one High car pedals much better than yours High car head unit much better than yours High car gauges much cooler than yours but yours are perfectly fine so three wins for High car one win for low car and a tie on the shift knob so 500 worth of interior accessories versus five thousand dollars worth of interior accessories in a lot of ways more expensive does mean more better yeah thank you for watching this video and everything else on donut media hit that subscribe button to make sure you don't miss anything we're uploading videos all the stinking time and next week we are taking these cars to the world famous Sonoma race track to put them head to head and finally find out what is better a 21 000 WRX or a 43 000 WRX
