something special for you today we are in part three of our series seize the opportunity as you know the last couple of weeks it has been off the chain but i believe today is gonna be no different as this young man who was murdered literally murdered in minnesota it's tough to talk about it because i'm exhausted like many of you dante wright's story is a story that we're seeing too much of in our community and i think it's important for folks to understand that black folks in america are just tired of being killed tired of being slaughtered tired of being gunned down senselessly i just believe it's time for us to have a wake-up call us to really have conversations around police reform and de-escalation and training and more importantly to help people understand more empathetic to the plight of african americans in this country we're terrorized sometimes we get pulled over we're thinking about things that a lot of folks never have to think about so i just believe people that god let's let's pray but let's also pray for our brothers and sisters in minnesota who are protesting protest doesn't mean disruption or it doesn't mean looting it means protesting and moving that protest to a place where actual policies can change we can see things occur not only in minnesota but even around the united states so we're praying for that family that somebody's father somebody's son let's pray for them pray for all the victims of violence in that in that area as well listen thank you for your support of the prayer call this week we are man so encouraged by the prayers seven o'clock on the lord today father thank you for your word i pray this word will speak to us that somebody's life will be changed forever and we are thankful because we believe that this word will shift us to another dimension in you jesus name amen psalm 84 verse 5 and 6 blessed is the man whose strength is in you whose heart is set on pilgrimage as they pass through the valley of baca they make it a spring the rain also cover covers it with pools and i want to tell you today declare this over your life i'll get the victory out of this valley i'll get the victory out of this valley you know one of the things that every child of god knows is unique about us is perspective no matter what a child of god goes through we always have this incredible resilience and this optimistic posture and perspective when others see opposition we see opportunity when others see setbacks we see set ups when others think a breakdown is imminent we start preparing ourselves for the break through you see when you're seeing god work like this you don't doubt god in the process you know whatever god allows to happen in your life is ultimately designed to bless you some of us have been in some tight spots i know i have but i have seen god make a way time and time again we've been through some things and the pundits thought we would never come out but yet we came out of it and we are still here today to testify that i will get the victory to whatever i find myself going through you see people of god when you're in a thing sometimes you don't understand why you're in it but i want to show you today how to give god glory not only coming out of it but how to give god glory while you're still in it you see there's some fundamental things that we glean in the midst of challenges that can be practical lessons for us can help us understand how to go through the next challenge in the next scenario of life and there are some lessons that can be applied that will assure that you and i never live our lives as victims but we come out with the victory and the story i'm going to share with you today is a story where a willful determination overshadows a grim reality perhaps you're watching this and you find yourself going through a valley life is full of valleys low places places of ambiguity places where you can't see what's next perhaps you're in a place that is set on demoralizing and discouraging you but god is sending you this word because guess what you are going to get the victory through this valley you will not succumb to this not you no no no you will not stay in this you will not die you are coming out and guess what you're not just coming out you're coming out with the victory i just need somebody just to declare that over your life today i'm coming through this valley and i'm coming out with the victory you know psalm 84 is a powerful psalm deals with the sons of corinth with levites from the family of kohath we discover in number 16 something about them that koran led a rebellion of 250 community leaders against moses during the wilderness experience god would judge corinne and his leaders and all of them would be killed but what we discover is that the sons of corinne remain numbers 26 9-11 would tell us that and they were so grateful for the mercy of god that they became worshipers praisers in the temple of god interestingly enough in second chronicles 20 and 19 we discover that they served in this capacity of music in the temple so they would make a pilgrimage to the house of god to worship god to give god glory because anyone who has been saved redeemed by the hand of god from his wrath by the mercy of god has to be appraiser has to be a worshiper that's why i'm always amazed at people who refuse to worship who don't want to give god glory because in essence what you are saying is that god has not saved you from anything but when god has rescued you brought you out you become a worshiper and hear these sons of korah they would take this pilgrimage and they would literally head to the house of god in order to be in the presence of god in order that they might worship god but while going there they had to pass through the infamous valley of baca now i want to help you understand this today because anytime you're in pursuit of the things of god you must understand before there are great highs in your life there have to be great lows and you'll understand this in just a moment because some of you now are experiencing great lows in your life and you're wondering my god what's next well guess what if you can be faithful and have the right perspective while you're going through this valley it'll give greater witness to who you are and relationship to your god when you come out on top of the mountain i want you to get this today this is why while you're in this valley while you're in this place to understand the importance of the power of connection let everybody just say connection you see there's nothing more important than having a relationship with the lord because connection is essential to your survival and to your sanity there are many people who connect with so many people and other organizations and things in hopes that those things can help us navigate through the valleys of life only to be disappointed discouraged and disoriented by what we assume could keep us when in fact we now know if it had not been for the lord who was on our side where would we be maybe this is why the apostle paul writes in romans chapter 8 verse 36 to verse 39 he says as it is written for your sake we are killed all the day long we are counted as sheep for the slaughter yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us notice what paul says but i am persuaded that neither death nor life nor angels nor principalities nor powers nor things present nor things to come nor heights nor depths nor any other created things shall be able to separate me from the love of god which is in christ jesus our lord see when you have a relationship with god like that you can declare god is my provider i just need somebody just to say god is my provider see whatever you need you recognize that god has it god not only has what i need but god is who i need who has what i need so as a consequence one i know that god is my provider it releases me from the anxiety of wondering how things are going to get taken care of there are many of you right now who can testify the reason why you have peace going through this various season you're going through is because you know god is going to take care of you you ever thought about what david said in that previous valley he said the lord is my shepherd i shall not want you see god always takes care of his children and all throughout the scripture we see provision we see where god never never forsook his children when israel were in the wilderness and they did not have clothes god set up a dry cleaners where their clothes never waxed old when they were thirsty god let water come out of a rock when they were hungry god let the birds come down low enough where they can grab the quail and god will let manna come down god gave them a diet even in the wilderness he took care of them and there are some people watching me right now you got your own personal testimony that even during this pandemic god has been taking care of you you don't take nothing for granted when you open up your refrigerator you go to your pantry you just give god glory because as long as god keeps putting food on your table and clothes on your back you're like god if you don't do nothing else i give you glory for what you've already done and not only is he my provider but god is my strength my god let me preach just like i feel it see this would be a significant revelation concerning the pilgrimage because getting there is tough when you're trying to get to the place where what the presence of god is you're trying to get to that destination let's be clear this is arduous terrain going through this place from where they are trying to get to the presence the temple of god it's tough but he said it's the strength of god that allows us to fulfill the purposes of god in the earth god is our strength god is our strength it's in those moments when we are at the end of ourselves i know you've been there i know i've been there but i had no strength left when i was at a point where i began to question whether or not i could continue to go on i discovered that his strength was made perfect in my weakness see the way you get to the valley is not your strength but it's trusting the power of god you gotta settle on this before you take the journey you got to settle that god you're going to be my strength lord no matter what happens you're going to be my strength when i find myself getting weak i'm going to trust you to be my strength and here's the deal people of god you have to come to a place in your life like these pilgrims did to have the intentional pursuit to commune what history teaches us in this text is that this was a pilgrimage to the temple of god an intentional move to be in the temple to worship in the presence of god listen carefully they would go for miles miles miles walking because they were determined to be in his presence they wanted to commune in his presence you see there's a formula to this i want you to write it down number one you have to have a desire you never will commune into the presence of god unless you have a desire so the bible says one thing if i desire the lord and that will i seek after i may dwell in the house of the lord all the days of my life i'm like the deer panning for the water so my soul longs for him see i got to have a desire because if you don't desire it you'll never seek it and when you have a desire it is then followed by discipline because to get from where you are to where you know you need to be means that there's a certain discipline that means that there are certain things i've got to cut out of my life there are certain things i got to say no to i got to get focused i got to say lord i desire you now more than ever like some of you watching now you can't wait to get back into the physical space right because you know now more than ever how good god has been to you and so now nothing's going to hold you back you're like you know what i can't wait people tell me i can't wait for church to open back up church is open now but you're talking about the building because you understand the power of coming into the place of god and communing with god it takes discipline and when you are disciplined it takes determination because discipline is what gives you determination this was a long journey but they were determined no matter what would happen no matter what would come against them no matter what no matter what things would happen in the atmosphere they were so determined to get there you got to be determined to get there and when you get there it is the place of destination that's when you arrive when you know you reach your destination it comes to desire it comes to discipline it comes to determination and then you reach your destination now listen carefully when you are moving into the very presence of god this is important you will determine now to shorten the distance between you and god that's what they were doing what they were doing is that each step i take listen each step i take i am literally shortening the distance every decision i make in alignment with god's word i am shortening the distance between where god is and where i am see when you recognize the distance it'll trigger a strong desire to be where god is some of you right now i'm talking to you know the distance right now is too great it's too great for where you are to where god is that's why when you pray you're wondering why i can't hear from god you know you don't worship like you used to because the distance is too great you don't praise god like you're used you don't have the passion to read his word because the distance is too great you don't attend church like you used to because the distance is too great but oh boy there's some folk watching me now who made up your mind that you're about to shorten the distance between you and god and lord and you i live and you i move and you i have my being nothing nothing's going to keep me from the presence of god i'm shortening the distance that means some people don't understand some of the decisions you're making you're cutting certain things out of your life you're disengaging from certain things because you're like i got too much distance between me and god i'm trying to get closer so the things that i'm doing now in my life the things i'm aligning there in my life are all trying to get me closer to the very presence and power of god and see when you do that you'll only do it when you have a heart for worship you've got to have a heart of worship because the bible is clear here to get in the presence of god is equated to worship it is an act of giving god glory they were going to worship in the temple of god whose heart is set on him whose heart you don't make the pilgrimage if your heart is not set on him are you saying this so watch this as you journey through life listen god won't always do what you think god should do but you've got to have a deeper relationship to learn to worship god not for what god does but for who god is when i know who god is in my life and i have an incredible relationship that's what jump starts my pilgrimage i am not sitting up like some spoiled child with my arms folded mad at god because things didn't happen the way i thought they should happen no i am pursuing the presence of god because my desire is to worship god for who god is i take worship seriously it's not something i sit back and watch and spectate but i am a participator see what i believe has happened during this pandemic doing this virtual space that many people who may not have been worshippers have now shifted and have now become worshippers because you have come to know who god is more now than ever when we talk about god being jehovah jireh your provider god being jehovah shalom god being your peace god being jehovah shama the lord who is there i mean now you understand that so you start lifting up your hands and you start giving god glory for who god is you're not concerned about how things work out because you know that god is ultimately in control the bible said they had their hearts set on it they had their heart lord let my heart be set on you whatever your heart is is where you gonna worship let me say it again wherever your heart is is where you're going to worship if you say you love god like you love god then lift up your hands and give god glory and declare to god you don't have to do nothing else you gave me breath to breathe god you gave me life god you kept me in my right mind i give you glory just for who you really are in my life and as you pursue the presence of god that will be the inevitable place of crisis let's be clear here it is a fact that whenever you pursue god god i want you to get this don't you miss this whenever you're after more of god you're going to run into challenges it is inevitable no need of us pretending about this these were pilgrims and the bible said that they had to go through the valley of bacca now the hebrew word forbaca is weeping it is from the weeping tree in short on your way to the will of god and the presence of god there's going to be some tears along the way boy let that sink in right there it is inevitable and might i tell you that some pain you can't get around what you're going to discover is that there are just some things you're going to have to go through you see baca could not be bypassed if you're going to get there you got to go through baca if you're going to get there you got to go through baca you can't get around it you can't get over it you got to go through it you can't get around some people disappointing you you can't get around some bad news you can't get around doing your best sometimes and not being appreciated but you got to understand something baca plays a vital role in your life and my life because what bacca does is strengthen areas we never thought could be strengthening our lives if i could produce some things to you if it had not been for bacca if it had not been for the pain if it had not been for that you wouldn't pray like you prayed you wouldn't trust god like you trust god so now you got to learn well god if you got me in baca some of you now are in that place of pain and lord why won't it let up what's going on because let me tell you the intensity of the pain means you're getting closer to the promise and the presence of god that's why you got to hang in there and do that because listen the bible is saying to us listen about baca you pass through but you don't stay in i said you pass through you pass through baca but you don't stay in that's something to shout about right there because if you're going to get the victory you're not going to stay in it the bible says they pass through it valleys were never meant to be permanent residences david even said in the 23rd psalm yay though i walk through the valley of the shadow of death see i don't care how difficult the valley is in your life you got to remember some valleys are never places to set up permanent residencies you got to tell people don't send me mail in this valley because by the time the package gets here i'll be gone i'm not in this thing to stay it may hurt right now but i'm passing through it look at me right now because some of you now in the midst of a valid situation and you know lord it just don't seem like it's gonna let up it seems like i'm gonna be here forever you are not going to be in that place forever you are coming out of that situation you just got to keep progressing and you're coming through baca you're not going to be sick forever you are not going to be broke forever you are not going to be hurt forever you are going to get through this a lady goes to a pastor one day and she cries she says oh pastor i'm going through problems oh my job he said hallelujah and of course she looked kind of strange she says the past i'm going through problems in my marriage she said glory by this time she thinks something's wrong with the pastor you know maybe stressed out she says the past i'm going through problems with my health he said glory to god praise god she said pastor wait a minute this is a little disrespectful i came in tell you about what i was going through for your prayers i going through problems on my job and in my home and and in my health and you're just gonna sit up and say hallelujah glory to god like i just gave you some good news and the pastor said let me tell you something did you hear what you said you did say you were going through i need somebody right now to just feel that timeline i need you to declare it over your life with your mouth i'm going through i'm not staying in this weeping man do it for a night but joy is coming in the morning and people of god if i got to go through it the bible said they did something while they were in it remember how i opened this message up about what you do while you're in the valley can determine how you make it and how you succeed when you come out notice it's interesting the bible said that they dug whales they dug a whale while in the valley of baca the ingenuity to produce and create is what i want to share here because what makes this story so amazing is what occurs while you're in the valley we spend so much time allowing ourselves to be victimized and lamenting about how bad it is but in fact this is an opportunity to be creative this is an opportunity to be productive a lot of people sit back and you're okay being for every victim but not you you child of god are watching this because god wants you to produce something in baca who can in the midst of pain and weeping and in the midst of one of the most difficult seasons can come out of that and produce something extraordinary you who can come out of this out of your pain and still produce something that's so amazing that blows people's mind you the bible said they make it a whale they make it a whale see here's what you got to do you got to make your trauma transformational you got to make your trauma transformational what do you mean no need of having trauma if you're not going to allow it to bless you our trauma was not just for us in short what you experience ought to be for the benefit of other people around you you and i have a responsibility to share our stories with other people and we got a responsibility to use what we have gone through as a catalyst to encourage somebody else make it a whale oh i want to help you with this dig something get creative whatever life throws at you dig something i know people saying what are you gonna do in that situation i'm working on something i'm digging some i'm working on something there's some of you right now people looking at you like you ought to have a breakdown because you went through a divorce or because you lost your job or because you've been rejected by people they don't realize you at night working on something in the midst of your pain somebody can just sit there and cry but somebody else those are tears and that is liquid but there's one liquid that is full of mint and there's another liquid that is for work now i'm gonna use my liquid for sweat because i'm working on something baby i'm not gonna just sit up and be a permanent victim i'm working on something i'm working on my game plan i'm working on my next season i'm working on what god has already shown me work on it dig your well if nobody else will believe in it you believe in it because let me tell you something i need you to declare this with me right now i'll be better after this can you declare that i'll be better after this let me say it again when you cease this opportunity and you in the midst of your backer dig a whale i'll come to declare you will be better after this there is a certainty among god's people that whatever we go through we're going to always come out better than we went in i'm talking to somebody right now that can testify when you look over your life that's a part of your testimony and here it is the bible said there would be a whale and it would have water like pools plural pools don't you miss this through this pilgrimage god is going to make certain that you are better on the other side of it i've come to talk to somebody in closing here to let you know you're not gonna be a victim after this but you're gonna have the victory i come to tell you you are coming out with the victory and you gotta trust god you gotta trust god that your family is going to be better your job is going to be better everything about you is going to be better your business is going to be better your grades are going to be better watch this because when the pools show up my god let me get this to you when the pools show up after i dig a whale and the pool show up it represents spiritual refreshing which means that every dry place in my life is now about to be refreshed that everything that was dried up in my life spiritually god is about to bring some refreshing i declare for your life that god is about to bring fresh rain in your life fresh water in your life god is about to bring living water in every dry space of your life i declare for your life watch this that there will be sustained resources what do you mean sustained resources every time i dig in the well water comes out every time i take my bucket in the well water comes out it may be a rough season i may not be where i'm trying to go yet but what i found out every time i dip in something comes out that's what god is about to do in your life somebody will give god glory but every time i dip in something comes out if i work it god will fix it where something comes out and child of god that's why the survivors are rejoicing because you made it and when you make it you didn't make it to be quiet because you can declare was god that pulled me through i started out with my mind my spirit and my heart set on the presence of god i had to go through baca and it was tough it was rough but i learned how to make a well in it and now i didn't come out of this to be pretty to be quiet but i came out to give god glory i just want to talk to the survivors i want to talk to the survivors right now i don't care where you're watching i don't care if you're in your living room your bedroom in your kitchen i don't care if you're in your theater right now i don't care if you're in your car pull over i don't care if you're on your job take a break because i need somebody for the next 60 seconds to open up your mouth and give god glory that you will get the victory going through this valley that this valley did not destroy you but this valley gave you a breakthrough can you give god glory only survivors will give god glory now if you're watching me now you are a survivor lift your hands down and give god glory you were not going to stay in baca shout out to god this valley is not permanent but it will be a place that'll be productive in the midst of your pain and when somebody asks you how in the world did you come through that how in the world did somebody like you come to that in your right mind in one piece you tell them it wasn't my money it wasn't my family it wasn't my friends but it was god [Music] who pulled me through flip
