#326 Busy Week Ahead The Life of an Owner Operator Flatbed Truck Driver

[Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] all right it's the fourth of July I stayed home this morning and we went to the parade I'm in Alamogordo New Mexico right now and I picked this parking spot on purpose because downtown is down there and I'm hoping maybe later tonight I'll be able to see some fireworks but it's pretty out here if you guys can see the mountains in the sunset there I did get my oil changed I got oil changed on Monday Tuesday Tuesday when I was coming back somebody asked me what these stickers are those are my oil change stickers and then this is mine my new sticker and I was just keeping track of my hours of my oil changed just to get an idea of how it was going on this truck today I was working it out I changed my oil the book says you can go almost sixty thousand miles for long haul I've been changing my oil at forty thousand miles and that's a thousand hours on the engine so I've been going more by the hours than I have by the miles so I've been changing right at a thousand hours which is within the book what it says for the manual so I know that sounds crazy but you know somebody smarter than me figured that out so I've been changing and I've been averaging about because I've been watching my idle time with a little generator and over a thousand hours I'm averaging right around 41 as per our so if that makes sense so so every thousand hours I'm doing forty thousand miles so between 40 and 41 so it's actually working out pretty good Oh see tomorrow is Friday and we're gonna head up tomorrow we're gonna try to get to Oklahoma City which is about 600 miles from right here so that's our plan we're gonna be running through the woods tomorrow morning all right that's it I had a good day today went to parade got to see Theresa and made our way over here so talk to you later all right good afternoon I think it's afternoon we're in San San Juan New Mexico right at the Texas New Mexico State Line on i-40 I I finally took some time finished up some stuff I needed to do to the truck this is a Russell's truck stop I think is the name of it this is a pretty cool little place if you ever get a chance to come through they have a little auto museum inside there it's pretty cool uh we got the oil changed in the little generator and we did already we just made a little bit of little bit of mess but not too much just no more than a truck leaking at nighttime but we got the oil changed in the generator put a new air filter in the generator fuel filter still good on the generator we got the oil change in the big truck on our way home and I went ahead and changed the coolant filter so that's the coolant filter I did that yesterday before I left the house and then I changed the air filter while I was at home yesterday and then I just got done changing the air dryer filter so this is an air dryer filter right here and what that does is that this particular filter on this model that's the air dryer right there this will take out any oil that makes it past the air compressor and also any moisture in the air so I know I don't know when that had been changed had this stuff inside there so it looks like it's been on there a while I had bought this big old clamp a while back so it's big enough to use that so I brought that with me oh so we got quite a bit done today we still still have about 300 miles I want to go to Oklahoma City but I wanted to get it done and put up clean up my mess here everything away and get going so but other than that it it all turned out pretty good so alright let me clean up put my mess away and talk to you we're about an hour away from where we got to deliver parked over here in the corner next to this big ol sleeper right there makes my truck look tiny trucks doing good I got a washed was it yesterday I washed the truck yesterday so it's looking good generators doing good we've got a couple issues on the tarp when we on tarp we're gonna have to fix some holes but nothing major we got a hole right there and we've got a couple holes on the other side another than that it's been holding up pretty good that's uh that is interstate 94 that is West so it it is the holiday fourth of July weekend and traffic has been bumper-to-bumper all weekend so I'm glad we're parked we're gonna leave early in the morning to go get unloaded and then we already have a busy week ahead of us so we get back into routine we're gonna deliver this tomorrow morning go reload tomorrow take that down to West Virginia and unload on Tuesday reload Tuesday out of West Virginia going back up to Ohio for Wednesday so we already got our work cut out for us all right that's it tomorrow we're going to get back on schedule with the videos and just really be doing some short stuff it'd be a little easier so anyway talk to
