300wsm - First shots and sighting in

[Music] hey everybody how you doing this is about to be a really fun video out at the range today with heavy metal and i am super excited because we're shooting my 300 winchester short magnum and getting it sighted in i've shot this thing a few times just right out of the box with no scope on it and yeah so far i love it but you can't really hit anything at least not past 10 yards unless you got a scope on it so i've got this athlon argos btr gen 2 slapped on it it's a 34 power zoom we are 100 percent gonna take this thing long range if you're not familiar with the 300 wsm more or less depending on who you ask it's kind of like a 300 win mag short so the ballistics are supposed to match real close to a 300 win mag but it's kind of like a 308 so a 300 wsm is a short magnum so this rifle is a short action not a long action like a 300 win mag but this rifle is definitely going to be in our options of our hunting rifles that we have to pick from so stay tuned if you're into that thing but story behind this particular rifle i heard about the 300 wsm i said sounds awesome i called paul and said order me the cheapest 300 wsm that there is and this is what we came up with this is a winchester xpr and it's got a 24 inch barrel on it so 24 inch barrel 300 winchester short mag yeah this got a whole lot of horsepower on it but for this video we're going to get it sighted in see if we can do 100 yard group and see what we think about it but should be a whole lot of fun just squeezing this trigger i really like this trigger on the xpr i was actually really excited about it but hey let's shoot it on some paper here a little bit closer and then we'll take it back to 100 and do a group with it should be a whole lot of fun before i forget to tell you the ammo we're shooting here this is some normal bond strike 180 grain and this stuff is good stuff if you haven't seen it i just filmed a video with my 308 shooting this bond strike at a thousand yards and we hit the steel a bunch a bunch a bunch of times so very accurate hunting ammo i think it even says there on the box somewhere extreme long range accuracy with unique bonded technology there you go but good ammo i hope a good rifle we're about to find out and maybe we'll get lucky and have a good shooter but let's quit the yapping sling some bullets here's a close-up the 300 winchester short mag you can see how fat that is fatter it is the more powder the more boogie so uh don't tell my shoulder this is going to be fun all right now i got three loaded up and we're going to shoot it a little bit closer here so we're somewhat close when we go out to 100 yards this uh got kind of an inline mag there on these xprs at least for the 300 wsm it holds three i think three will be enough to at least get us kind of close here we'll see what happens make sure i got it in my shoulder half decent looks like our right and left is good perfect actually and we're almost three inches low so we need to come up quite a bit i just gave it a whole bunch of clicks i don't know what that was but i'll see what it does this time hopefully i turn that the right direction so that's exactly two inches low i'm gonna bring it up just a hair more four more clicks whatever that means at this distance and then we'll go back to 100 and see what happens this one might hit about the same hole all right so that's about an inch and a half low should be good to getting us pretty close to dead on at 100 yards let's uh set up another target i'm going to go back to 100 yards and see what kind of group we can get at a hunter 300 wsm 100 yards all right now there's the target behind me i'm running with this camera down and we're going to shoot it out of the back of my pickup truck at 100 yards all right here we go 300 wsm winchester xpr i got four loaded in the rifle here and let's hope this first shot's pretty good ready bring the bipod up a little bit oh yeah that's just about perfect all right here we go first shot at 100 juice it a little more zoom there totally lost it in the scope not bad just off the red center there so my guess was at least pretty good that wasn't too bad let me uh i'm gonna go ahead and click it left a little bit some people say oh you need to shoot it 97 times before you touch the scope well uh i'm too poor to be doing all that what did i say we're gonna go left a little bit how much do we need to go left i can find the target again uh give it two clicks left i think i already did one i'm gonna come one down see what happens here after we're good then we'll do a three shot group on the head there let's take another shot holding center of that uh target there in the red real good trigger on this thing where'd we hit let me find the target again all right so that was in the red better a little bit down and right so i only adjusted the up and down one click last time let's just go ahead and fire another one without touching the scope on this one felt good about that trigger pull where'd we hit all right that's dead center so i'm gonna leave it right there because like i said i felt really good about that trigger pull i'm gonna grab two more bullets we'll do a three shot group on the head now take into consideration i'm laying in the back of a pickup bed and i got sweat dripping in my eyeballs and it's 100 degrees out here but all things being considered i'm gonna do my best to squeeze that trigger just perfect on the top head of that bullseye so we can do this rifle and this scope and these bullets some justice here i'm gonna do a three shot group best i can on that head there see what we can pull off here i felt like i squeezed a little low on that one where'd we hit yep and we did so i called it before i even saw it in the scope so let's take another shot i'm gonna hold dead center of that red in the head there i need a sandbag for my back but i don't have one with me i'm using my fist that one i felt pretty good if anything it might be right where did we hit now we kissed the red and like i said a little bit right but let's shoot this last one let's see what we think about it but we still just about hit the same hole as the last one let's run down there quick and see what we think about that i'm pretty impressed with that rifle all right so walking up to our target there's where we sighted it in our first shot was there adjusted a little hit there and then shot a second one with no adjustment and hit pretty much dead center then on the last three shots i was holding dead center and didn't adjust it i think we hit one two and three and i know for a fact that none of those three were good perfect trigger pulls meaning i know that i wasn't holding dead center when i squeezed the trigger so it's 100 degrees we're sweating like crazy out of the back of my pickup with this chinese uh i can't even think of the word what do you call that bipod and i didn't have a bag on the rear making a bunch of excuses even though the group is what i consider really good but stay tuned for a whole lot of videos with this 300 winchester short mag comment down below any ideas you have for us to film with this caliber we're gonna try to stretch it out here sometime soon maybe in some hunting videos but uh this is the first time i ever shot a winchester xpr hey pretty good rifle they're they're definitely not bottom of the barrel low budget rifles i mean seems to be pretty pretty decent action the trigger is probably the best thing about it you know the stock's probably pretty ho-hum you know nothing fancy about the stock but good trigger action is not too sloppy and so far at least with that ammo we're just about putting them in the same hole but as always i appreciate you guys watching big time a big shout out and a big
