hey what's going on guys my name is anthony and today i bring you 30 things you didn't know about axolotls in minecraft like this video and subscribe to the channel if you love axolotls or if you just want to see more videos like this anyways on with the wait wait wait before we begin i'm here to tell you guys that this video is sponsored by filmora i've been editing minecraft videos for over nine years now and i can safely say that filmora 10 is one of the most easy to use video editing programs out there it has so many great features and it's really easy to put together a well-crafted minecraft video or any video for that matter for example you can easily cut up your video clips to show the best bits by pressing the scissors icon or i can easily add a black and white filter to this clip of me killing a pig in minecraft which is lovely but the best feature has to be the new auto highlight feature this feature automatically finds the highlights of your video allowing you to quickly make youtube shorts or tick tocks which is awesome but best of all filmora 10 is free if you want to try it out and start making some videos if you decide you like it you can purchase it for like 80 dollars which is really cheap compared to other video editing programs out there to download filmora for free click the link in the description below anyways on with the video for real the axolotl mob was first announced during the minecraft live live stream for the caves and cliffs update and this happened on october 3rd 2020. however the axolotl was first officially added in the 20w51a snapshot for 1.17 and this was released on december 16th 2020. the axolotl is a passive aquatic mob that spawns underwater and they have seven hearts of health axolotls come in five different colors which are pink brown yellow cyan and blue and they all look like this now the blue axolotl is unique as they are extremely rare due to them only having a 1 in 1 200 chance of spawning so yeah if you encounter a blue axolotl you are very very lucky as of the time of me making this video there is a glitch present in minecraft when it comes to axolotls so if you attach a lead to an axolotl then it will begin to walk extremely fast around the player as you can see why they do this i have no idea but this axolotl is absolutely loving it this glitch also works with more than one axolotl which means you can attach multiple axolotls to a lead and they'll all just circle around the player very quickly which just looks absolutely mayhem anyways let's move on the reason why axolotls were added into minecraft is because axolotls in real life are critically endangered so i think it's great that mojang are raising awareness for them in minecraft axolotls will attack all underwater mobs except turtles and dolphins this includes the drowned guardian elder guardian squid glow squid and fish if a mob or player attacks an axolotl then they have a one in three chance of playing dead this means they'll pretend to be dead for 10 seconds while recovering two hearts of health the axolotl you see on screen is an unreleased green variant of the mob and it looks kind of cool now the green axolotl was seen in the minecraft live recap screenshot in 2020 but it was never officially added in minecraft 1.17 which is a shame to be honest on top of this in the trailer video for part one of the caves and cliffs update the green axolotl can briefly be seen despite it not appearing in the update itself rest in peace green axolotl you will be missed in minecraft axolotls can be bred by using buckets of tropical fish but not by using the tropical fish items themselves this is because in real life axolotls will only eat living fish and you know the fish that are still in the buckets are still alive so this feature makes sense the reason why blue axolotls have a 1 in 1 200 chance to spawn is due to the fact that there are only roughly 1 200 axolotls left in the wild in real life honestly reading that fact is rather sad but again i'm glad mojang is bringing awareness to axolotls despite their small size axolotls in minecraft are able to climb up blocks as you can see which looks so cute to be honest i mean they're getting there they're trying you've got this axolotl if a player kills a mob that an axolotl is in combat with then the axolotl will give you the regeneration effect for a few seconds which is very lovely of them right clicking on an axolotl with a bucket allows you to collect it giving you a bucket of axolotl which looks like this this allows you to put the bucket of axolotl in a dispenser and dispense an axolotl at the click of a button another thing you can do with a bucket of axolotl is put the bucket inside of an item frame and display your lovely axolotl i'm not gonna lie this feels a bit mean to be honest the axolotl should be chilling in the water and instead it's just trapped in an item frame which is horrible anyways moving on the blue axolotl is the only variant that is not based on a real life axolotl the other four axolotls on the other hand are in fact based on real axolotls which is a nice attention to detail but don't worry the blue axolotl is still very interesting as it was added after somebody suggested it on reddit so reddit user known as dark eyes flame mentioned that minecraft should add a rare blue axolotl and have its appearance be based off mudkip from the pokemon series so yeah the blue axolotl isn't based on real life but it is based off mudkip from pokemon which is very cool if you breed axolotls with buckets of tropical fish then the baby axolotl will take exactly 20 minutes to grow into an adult however the growth of baby axolotls can be accelerated by right clicking on the baby with a bucket of tropical fish each use of the bucket reduces the growth time of the baby axolotl by 10 so yeah you can grow it into an adult fairly quickly if an axolotl is on land then they will always try to find the nearest water source in the minecraft well due to being an aquatic mob if the axolotl is on land for five minutes or more then they'll begin to dry out and start taking damage just like my last 1.17 video i had to do this for the sake of the video so this is the second time i'm watching an axolotl die on land however if it is raining in your minecraft world then the axolotl can survive on land and not take any damage as you can see when it stops raining you better get them to water asap okay in the snapshot phase for the 1.17 caves and cliffs update axolotls would behave a bit strange when they were on slime blocks so for some reason when you put an axolotl on a slime block they'd just shake violently which looked very strange as you can see i think it's safe to say axolotls hated slime blocks in the snapshots anyways moving on currently in minecraft 1.17 axolotls spawn below sea level at y63 however axolotls are planned to be spawned in the upcoming lush caves biome that will properly be added in 1.18 which is the caves in cliffs part 2. if you listen closely to the sounds of the axolotl you'll notice that they sound very similar to the fox in minecraft take a listen [Music] you
