hi everybody welcome back today I want to show you a super simple and delicious recipe three ingredient sugar cookie recipes it's very family friendly and very versatile so there's just three ingredients to it and once I tell them to you you pretty much commit them to memory you won't even really have to write it down I've preheated my oven to 325 degrees and I prepared a baking sheet with parchment liner on it that being said if you don't have parchment liner to prepare your pan you can just go ahead and hit it with a little bit of pans spray or just a little bit of oil or something just to keep the cookies from sticking to my bowl I'm going to add first butter I have 10 tablespoons of butter so that's one stick and two tablespoons if you don't happen to have any unsalted butter on hand that's fine you could use Crisco shortening in this recipe preferably the butter flavored one although I have to say prefer butter myself because I think just nothing compares to the flavor of butter and also the nice golden brown that you get from baking with butter it's very soft I've had it out for a few hours just softening on the counter and to that I'm gonna add a third of a cup of regular white sugar make sure you get it all out and just mix it together you can do this by hand or with a hand mixer works perfectly well I'm just gonna go ahead and do it by hand I think this is a great recipe to do with the little ones in your household your children or your younger siblings because it really does not require any special equipment and you can get to stir and take turns stirring and do all the steps together awesome it doesn't make a very large batch which means if the kids get bored up with them after a couple of cookies which I don't think they will but if they do it won't be long before you can move on to making your next ingredient bake good just sort of cream it up a little bit okay that seems to be good just want to make it a little or fluffier if you can you will have granules and the sugars so don't be alarmed about that because that will knock down in the baking process to that I'm gonna add one cup of all-purpose flour I don't honestly think you can find an easier cookie recipe than this one so just to reiterate that was ten tablespoons of softened unsalted butter 1/3 of a cup of granulated sugar and one cup of all-purpose flour you can see I'm just about brought it together and you can really get in there with your hands I'm gonna hold off doing that so I have to stop and go wash my hands again in the process it'll just take a little minute for it to all come together alright so I brought it all together it's just about becoming one giant dough ball I'm going to put it out on the counter and divide it into pieces about one inch size pieces think of a golf ball just roll it gently across and you can even just kind of pull it and shaping it into a rope shape I'm gonna cut it down the middle cut each in halves and each one I'm gonna cut in fourths now you can make them bigger if you like I like to have more of a bite size or to bite cookie and you can see it's not very fancy the way I'm doing it there's no real technique involved in this I will say this it gives you the opportunity to use some of your multiplication and division skills with your little ones so you can make it not only a baking activity but also a math activity all right so each of these then this is the fun part for kids because they can really put their hands in on it I'm going to roll each of them into a little cookie dough ball and place them down onto the baking cap so I finished rolling all the cookie dough balls and this is where it gets to be the fun part particularly for the young members of your family because they can really customize their cookie the way they like it just like we do at Christmastime when everybody's putting sprinkles and little eyeballs and and raisins for buttons and all those things on their great holiday cookies so this is the same sort of thing and you can really just go through your cabinets through your pantry and just find things that are around to really customize them so I went through to see what we had on hand and kind of what I know my family likes I'm a big fan of raspberry so I'm going to use some raspberry jam I have some coconut so first I'm gonna make like a thumbprint style one where I roll the dough into the coconut make the thumbprint at the jam I am gonna do just the traditional one with sprinkles and then I had a few chocolate chips so I thought maybe I'll just you know put a few on the top all right so I'm gonna start I also pulled out a little bit of water at a pastry brush just in case I feel like I need to dal dip my finger in so it wasn't sticked to the cookie or if I'm concerned that maybe like the sprinkles or something won't stick when I'm trying to decorate I'll have that handy as well so I'm gonna start by making the coconut raspberry and all I'm gonna do is take the cookie dough push it into the sweetened coconut a little bit and turn it cookie dough or coconut side up and then press my thumb in there to make the little indentation for the thumb from Chris I'm going to do a couple more you could also do this with chopped nuts that's really tasty as well if you don't have coconut on hand but you've got a few almonds or pecans that works out really good [Music] and I've got just two spins here just 2 teaspoons and I'm just gonna put a little dollop of jam in the center of each one don't do too much or it just sort of bakes and runs out of the cookie it also provides a nice little color contrast I'm always amazed with recipes like this the variety of the platter of cookies that you can get out of just one single dough so that's really what I want to emphasize here not only is it fun and easy and family-friendly but you get such a nice variety to satisfy everybody's tastes I have some rainbow sprinkles so I'm going to go ahead and just like I did with the coconut push it in and turn it sprinkle side up don't press the cookie dough's out balls out too far let the oven do the work on that process it will bake down and spread out because remember I did use butter now if you use the shortening in it you'll find that the cookies won't spread quite as much and you may need to tamp them down a little bit all right and then finally I have a few M&Ms here I'm just gonna just press them out lightly I'm sorry not M&M chocolate chips M&Ms would be great though I wish I'd put a few of those on I'm just gonna put three little chocolate chips in the center and then when these finish up the little chocolate chip ones when they come out of the oven I'll have a little bit of melted chocolate and I'll just stripe them nice all righty that's all there is to it I'm gonna go ahead and put these in a 325-degree oven it's gonna take anywhere from 12 to 15 minutes to bake and because I'm using convection I may have to rotate my pan once during the process to make sure they bake evenly around all right so it's been a full 15 minutes and the cookies are ready to come out of the oven you can see they get nice and golden brown around the edges I'm gonna let them cool for just a couple minutes and then I want to strike the ones with the chocolate morsels with some extra chocolate to make them super chocolaty and add a little powdered sugar to the raspberry coconut and then I'll plate them up so my cookies cool for a few minutes and I can go ahead and garnish them now for me presentation is everything now certainly we could just put them out as they are and they're beautiful and they look delicious and I would eat every one of them if I could but I like to add a little touches so I have a little bit of powdered sugar and I'm gonna add that a little bit to the raspberry coconut just a little bit just make it look pretty and then I also have a little bit of that melted chocolate milk chocolate bark that I just microwaved down and I'm just gonna use a spoon here and just do a drizzle over the ones that I did with the semi-sweet chips my husband likes chocolate he can't get enough of it so I know he's going to go right in for those alrighty so there you have it I'm gonna let them cool for just a couple minutes and then I'm gonna go ahead and put them on a nice platter for serving alright so I'll let them sit for just a couple minutes to make sure that the chocolate hardened up on the cookies before I plate them up this way they don't get a little smudged I'm just gonna put them on the tray just break it up a little bit if you have eat and I have to say that if you are a novice Baker this is a really excellent beginner recipe to start with if you're uncomfortable with baking three ingredients ten tablespoons of butter a third of a cup of sugar one cup of flour mix together and then just decorating them in any way that you prefer and you have a wonderful platter of cookies to put out to enjoy with friends and family there you have it three ingredient sugar cookies
