hi everyone welcome back to my channel let's get creative today I'm gonna show you three ways to make a placemat from the Dollar Tree into something else right now I'm measuring my pink sticks that I just got at the hardware store for like 89 cents and I will and I cut them to make a frame this is a 16 by 10 inch frame now you want to sand away any rough edges I already did that I just wanted to show you and then I'm taking my stain and we're just gonna stain these and let them dry and you don't have to stain them you could paint do some wax over it or just leave them as the raw color anything you want to do whatever matches your placemat and you can see I haven't done the back of the paint sticks that's not going to show so I didn't stain it now I off-camera I glued the edges just slightly together to make the frame and now we're going to take hot glue and just glue our placemat down sorry my cord wasn't long enough to reach so I'm moving the frame all around trying to hot glue it down started with the four corners and then just going around the edges sorry I had to go get a another stick of glue but yeah just securing all the edges with the hot glue and hot glued works just fine here it's wood in like a plastic so just pressing them down making sure they're all secure going back in any places that have lifted up a little bit or I didn't get just went back and reglued this is what it looks like get rid of all your little glue strings there's just a cute frame no to hang it you can use one of these little hooks with your e6000 glue put it on or a command hook on either side I ended up putting the command hook okay so now for this one I found this little wooden sign thing at the Dollar Tree along with our Dollar Tree placemat and you're just gonna line it up over your design I used a dry erase marker to trace it so that it just rubs off and cut it out and you want to line the bottom of the sign with the bottom of the hanger thing and then you'll see at the top here there's a little space because the placemat isn't quite long enough or tall enough so at the top here I'm just going to take some white paint and just paint the top real quick and don't have to be perfect because it's just the tiny little bit that shows yeah no this is some tacky glue that I just found at Walmart in the craft section just gonna put a good amount on and then taking a sponge brush you're just gonna spread it all around till you get an even layer this tacky glue works great on everything so far that I've used it on no my phone cut out so I had already pre-made this bow but um I'm gonna show you how to make it quick you just wrap string around your hand four or five times and then you're gonna wrap the string around and tie two knots and I'm not the best at making bows so this is just a quick and easy way to make a little bow and I actually preferred the bow I made first so you're just gonna take some hot glue glue it down and there you have it a cute little wall hanging now for this third one I'm gonna be making a tray you don't have to make a tray but that's what I did I measured where my placement hits the corners of this picture frame this picture frame I got at Hobby Lobby in the discount section for like dollar 40 and then I used the edges on the picture frame just to draw a straight line and cut it out and the bottom was just slightly bigger so just cutting a little bit off the bottom double-checking to make sure it will fit then we're gonna set this aside I kind of wanted to do a rustic look so I'm taking some wise owl wax and I'm just gonna brush it on the edges of the frame and it doesn't matter if it gets on the picture part cuz you'll be covering that up anyways and you can see the red mark from my dry erase marker so you can just wipe it off that's why I like using dry erase markers to mark and do things when I use do projects and again you don't have to do this you can do you can paint it you can leave a white I mean whatever you feel like doing whatever's gonna match your decor and now again with the tacky glue you're just gonna put a generous amount all over take your sponge brush and make an even layer take your place Matt put it down smooth it out make sure you get all the corners and if any glue does seep out this tacky glue dries clear so you won't even see it now I pre glued these are some handles that I had left over from another project they come in three pieces so I'm just gluing them all together I'm going to use some e6000 glue to glue them to the frame and if you want to skip this part you can just leave this and hang it on your wall as a art but I wanted to make a little tray and I'm using the hot glue just so it can instantly stick well it gives time for the East 6000 glue to dry I'm gonna put those on the edges so we're almost done and I just want to say thank you for watching this if you enjoyed these three little quick tutorials on what you can do with a Dollar Tree placemat please like this video give us a thumbs up subscribe to the channel and have a marvelous day you
