2JZ Camaro Goes Up In Flames At TX2k!

[Applause] all right so just got the uh car started letting it warm up for the day and check out what came to visit the supra with single turbo ls it's an odd sight to see these two [Music] so let's talk about your car a little bit okay it's basically the opposite of each other now right and they probably equally make people mad on the internet absolutely yours honestly probably a lot more than mine because a super appears with a hard top car is a whole different world than a camaro purist from a v6 car i have to interview you i don't really know what to say i can do all the talking okay all right guys so we are here at houston raceway park again for qualifying day two for us street car guys the non-roll racer guys it's more like day five of the event but it's day two of racing for me so i am just getting geared up got the car all prepped to make a pass here um i was thinking about not making a pass this morning but after talking with my uh my team alpha and matt had inducted yeah i'm pretty much called the matt uh we decided we should make a hit see if we can get the car to go a little faster make sure the breaking up issue's done yeah and all those little things yeah so of course i'm scared to break out of my class because i'm not far from breaking out to be in that master i'll be in the top 16 which is there's probably gonna be three cars that are capable three or four cars that are capable of six second passes in that class yeah and if i'm the bottom of the 16 bracket then i race the top dog in the whole event basically so we want to try and keep it where we're still in that second part of the class number one qualifier in the b class would be which we don't know exactly what the breakout number is you don't know until the last qualifying pass until everybody's handed it in they're supposed to go eight one and it could be the other class or we could go eight one it could be the other and or you can't turn in a slower pass like your fastest qualifier is the one that they are gonna are gonna take yeah like it's not like some events where you turn in your past like this they your fastest one is your fastest one right so you're gonna go out there and uh let her eat the car has been 8-1 consistently very many times like many many times in the a1 so i don't know if i want to do that because right now the breakouts a3 i don't know this is the struggle i've been dealing with all day like alpha said don't play chess just race yeah but you kind of have to a little bit you kind of have to play the strategy yeah you were you were very i'm trying to strategize you know i'm trying to win trying to take home a trophy and maybe a big check i don't know if they have big checks what even is the payout for this class i don't know 1500 bucks yeah so all right we'll just go up there and uh floor it the whole way yeah see if it does that high rev thing see if it breaks up again it shouldn't do the breakup thing but it might do that high rev thing we'll figure it out but that's only when it's in park no like we're revved out really high in there oh oh yeah yeah okay all right we'll see we'll know very soon that's the update so we'll see you up at the starting line probably next yep all right first pass maybe only pass today i don't know let's hope it goes well eight one is probably where we're going to end up we're racing my buddy brett and that green mustang but we're not really racing and we're just gonna test fast with him qualifying [Music] [Music] down [Music] oh no there's fire under cooper's car there's a big fire so it's out it's out he's out he's out i pulled the fire suppression it got it out mostly and then i was able to get it to a safe stop and you know i look over dude i looked at it and i saw it and i just like pulled the fire and i saw it going out and then i was like oh it's not enough dude yeah the car is probably good too i think it was trans trans puked out a bunch of fluid onto the header i know exactly what it was oh this is not the engine no the trans dipstick oh shoot yeah translucent build up a bunch of pressure or something and cute down onto the uh too many boosters yeah i mean there's like a 70 chance that i could just drive it back to the pits but i'm not i'm not trying to hey you got to do that sometimes god you're good that was crazy but look over this is this massive plume i'm like bro all right dude i saw him puke out a little bit and i i knew i should have lifted but i didn't have the other yeah yeah i wonder what i ran well guys i feel like this is a part of everybody's racing careers to be on the rollback at the racetrack for the most part it's semi-common yeah i mean i'm not bent out of shape about it from the looks of it it seemed pretty good like firewise i didn't see any anything really too burnt up the fire suppression did a great job at putting out the fire for the most part until the fire crew could get there it would not have 100 stopped the fire unfortunately so i do want to reevaluate that but what just happened well after i uh baptized him for the second time basically sitting still on the starting line he just was wowed by my one two [Laughter] the house right yeah uh-huh and then he made me a well-done flavor [Laughter] really fits the whole scene all we need is the rocket man music [Music] [Laughter] this is this is something else you guys are making this look easy wrong all right everyone in the back all right guys well we are back at the hotel i got the car all loaded up we are leaving first thing tomorrow morning i figured we'd just not stay around for sunday and just head out the car is in pretty good shape you can see behind me it is not burnt to a crisp as some might assume i am burnt to a crisp actually from the sun it got me pretty good this week my uh run in with the sun was bad for me but i just want to give a huge shout out and thank you to profab they kind of pushed me to get the fire suppression setup installed they gave me all of the uh all of the necessary tools and pointers and everything and helped do the install did the install whatever you want to call it they were huge on that and i just want to give a huge thank you to them it would not have had a fire suppression system without them just the biggest thank you goes out to them if you guys need any fire suppression stuff reach out to them they have got it covered and they have a great system in place to get these in the cars my car might not be sitting here the way it is if it wasn't for them so huge thank you to them but that'll do it for this video guys i'll have another video coming out assessing the damage on the camaro that'll probably be coming out sometime next week once we get home and kind of cool down and unwind but that'll do it
