[Music] thank you [Music] foreign hey over here check it out the door is actually in the back of this Chinook Maverick my name's Mike coming to you from the vrv family of companies and we're here at VOD RV in Fort Worth whether you're shopping here or our leisure RV Center of Greater Houston we're now licensed dealers for Chinook motorhomes and here's your chance to come out and have a look at a chinook Chinook RV is long considered the sports car of motorhomes are known for their Sleek Innovative styling high quality construction and always feature Rich floor plans the Maverick model sits on the Ford Transit chassis with a three liter v6 EcoBoost gasoline engine it's 24 feet 5 inches long and 10 feet 6 inches high with the AC there's no slide out yet the unique rear entry door allows Chinook to maximize the interior wall space and create a plentiful amount of storage this is the 2024 Chinook Maverick SS hey guys let me show off my personal three favorite things about the 2024 Chinook Maverick starting with three storage compartments right here on the patio side the fun side next here's one I really appreciate all the exterior walls have insulated vinyl padding which also keeps the cabinets a lot cooler and finally this might be my favorite of all it's a three-way refrigerator that opens from The Galley side or the patio side this is the Chinook Maverick and there's so much to talk about here I'm really looking forward to this to have a look at the Chinook so let's get started there's some unique things about the way Chinook builds their RVs different than everyone else starting with the fact that this wall is actually aluminum it's not fiberglass like you typically see on a b-class or a b-plus or even Class C motorhome this is actually aluminum here's a neat thing notice how this is contoured to match the chassis front here this Ford all-wheel drive chassis right here it's contoured to match the whole body it looks like one unified unit from Ford but actually Chinook did all of this very very nice full body paint all the way around so what you're seeing here is not graphics this is full body paint these windows do open but they're integrated into this wall so we'll pop them out once we get on the inside but you can see how it's flush it's very Sleek so so let's start off here on what I call the fun side the patio side where the campfire is the picnic table and everything on a small 24 foot five inch unit we still have a generous amount of storage so here where it matters the most is where Chinook has put all of the storage compartments now these aren't class a huge storage compartments but that's pretty nice and you notice these doors are hinged on the side they don't flip up they're slam latch doors like you would expect to see on a big bus or something but this is really nice there's a 110 power available in here and you can see right there now that I've opened the door of propane a low pressure propane quick connect so if you want to put a a griddle or a grill out here under the on the patio side you can do that so these are going to be the storage compartments that you're reaching for all the time they're right here they're going to get a lot of traffic and that's great having camped at bunches and bunches of campgrounds with an RV that sometimes I had to go on the other side to grab those camping supplies out of I really appreciate that all of them are right here speaking of the fun side let's talk about the awning we've got a Gerard awning package on here the LED light strip along the bottom here which you can see plus a patio side LED light up here as well it's fully automatic it does have a wind sensor on it so if it kicks up a little bit of wind it's going to pull in I've been out here on this afternoon and it's been a little Breezy enough that it's made the awning Billow and retract in I do think you can set that to different levels of Sensitivity I hope so anyway if it does kick up a win and you happen not to be at your campsite it'll pull in best practice if you're not going to be at your campsite for a while just pull that thing in anyway that way you'll make sure nothing nothing bad happens while you're gone now this has truma on board and Chinook's proud of that and they should be trim is the best brand when it comes to water heaters and Coach Heat this has the truma combi system on it so that's what's providing heat ambient heat for you and also your water heater there's a little chart here they're proud of this too as they should be this went through rigorous temperature testing they're putting everything in Celsius no surprise since uh Chinook was originally a Canadian company but they tested all these uh different points throughout the coach at a cold chamber at 15 degrees Celsius that's cold that's below freezing for sure they had to get the coach up to 20 degrees Celsius which if you're checking at home on your computer that brings you up to about 68 degrees Fahrenheit and you had to do that within a four hour period this unit actually accomplished that in about three and a half hours so very well insulated on the bottom sides and top and also as a result of this truma Combi system so it is a true Four Season unit you can use and stay in this all four seasons and stay thought out and comfortable so that's great I really appreciate and I'll show you where some insulation is when we get over on the other side we are on the Ford Transit chassis it's really nice you got a nice racing stripe right in the front as it should be this is a race car of motorhomes yeah I don't know not because they go faster than any other ones but they are sleek and stylish you get the nice paint and the stripe in the middle it just has a modern look to it which is really really cool coming around on this side of course it is an all-wheel drive so if you get in some greasy situations slippery situations you get all all-wheel drive you don't have to worry about getting hung up here's your fueling location right here this is nice because we can close the door fuel up open the door close that and close the door on it and now you're fully secure so nobody can access your fueling location we do have heated and power mirrors on the side as well all right now we're generally called the Utility side this is where all the hookups happen I also have a window on this side so you can get crust ventilation and again we'll look at those when we get inside first of all here's our generator so I have a 4K Onan generator I do have solar on this as well so there's 400 watts of solar up on top which will go a long way to help keep your batteries happy if you're not running your generator not running the coach and not hooked up to shore power that will expand the amount of time you can camp off-grid speaking of batteries boom here they are there's four AGM batteries so you have 800 watt hours of Power Amp hours of power in here so these are AGM you can upgrade to a lithium package if you'd like that is an option it's probably if you look all the way on here there's a digital Echo charger so what that does is it's going to help keep these batteries charged during storage a lot of times when you put these things in storage it's going to be in hibernation for a few months if you have Shore power that's going to maintain the batteries at a healthy state of charge on your own and you don't have to think about it that's a really cool feature that I haven't seen on B Vans and it's something that that they've done speaking of bee van C Vans what's the difference what's a b what's a B plus what's a c there's a little bit of a argument between what's a b and a B plus Chinook calls this a B plus because there's no overhang up here there's no cab over area with bunks that is synonymous with a Class C so they're saying it's a B plus by federal standards when you take a cutaway chassis and you build a house behind it it's a Class C now generically in the RV industry we've come to generally uh refer to these as B pluses so I don't have a cab over area up here and it's bigger than a just a b which is built on a straight van chassis you confused yet no worries that's all right but they're calling this a b-plus and hey I already showed the batteries to you don't have to do that again so coming back here is our utility Bay so here's where you're going to do your hookups for water you're going to set this according to whether you're hooking up to City Water fresh water filling your tanks or whatever there is a light in here here pull valves right here and then you have a hose that goes on this quick connect and hot and cold so I can wash off my feet and the dog and your spouse whatever out here on this side you can run your hoses up through here now this is a neat thing this receives heat when your furnace Cycles on again this is 04 season coach so there is a heat duct in here also the holding tanks are insulated and heating heated as well you can probably see right here this is spray foam so there's sprayed foam under this whole compartment area so not only is it receiving heat it's also insulated for the cold I really appreciate that many times that's overlooked some smaller coaches they'll put heat in here but they won't insulate it so you know the heat struggles to keep up so if it gets really really super cold and you're in this insulation here and it is receiving heat and it's nice to know that you can camp Four Seasons and stay thawed out and right here is a little storage tube for your stinky Slinky so you don't have to take up valuable storage area somewhere else in the coach you can pop it in there and store it in there and of course this is your standard sewer Outlet pop this off put your sewer hose connection on here and the other end into the connection into the ground pull the valves and you're Off to the Races um there is a black tank flush on this too so you can flush that black tank out right when you're say you're going to store this for an extended period of time flush that black tank out now this is a neat feature storage right here on the back right by the entrance Door speaking of which the entrance door is in the back it's not in the side like it normally is with just about every B or C coach that you're used to seeing Chinook has chosen to put the door in the back now what that does is create extra wall real estate on the inside which I'm going to show you in a minute but it also creates some things that you can do here in the back like have this little compartment which can become an outdoor kitchen so we can bring our induction cooktop put it right here there's a plug right there and this is actually the plug for your smart plug over there and I can do some cooking out there this is a hundred pound weight rating so it's a work surface and I can again also put my induction cooktop right here that's really neat so let me talk about that power cord before I forget about it we have 30 amp service coming in here it's a it's a smart plug there's a little it's very bright out here so you're probably they can't see it but there's blue you can see that it's blue and that tells me this is clean power coming to the coach now it's important because if you're troubleshooting you want to make sure that you have power to this point if you have an electrical issue if you get to the campground you pop this on here and it's flashing red and blue warning you got a problem contact the campground management if it's red forget about it you got reverse polarity or some other issue bottom line this is also doing some troubleshooting for you in in addition to providing power so if it's blue and it will be most of the time you're good with clean power but I like that that's on there so that you know you're hooking up to good clean power this has a 5000 own hitch on it right here and you have your seven-way plug in your four-way so you can pull a boat a trailer or a small vehicle back here so five thousand pounds although by the time you subtract your cargo carrying weight which is a thousand ish a little over that you're going to be left with about four thousand pounds of towing capacity so that'll get you quite a few small cars so even though this is small enough to maneuver and park wherever you'd like you might want to set up camp get this sputted in and still have a small car to do your little day trips especially if you're in this for extended periods of time you can do that here so we have a small Pontiac Vibe is our Toad and it weighs about 3 200 pounds you know a Jeep Wrangler there are other vehicles out there that are towable all four down that would be less than four thousand pounds and you could tow them behind here also this Ford Chassis has a brake controller already built into it so you don't have to worry about adding a brake controller if you're pulling a trailer brake controllers already on board so it's a beautiful coach stepping back it's just a nice unit with Sleek lines you got Duallys in the back of course Single wheels in the front so you got six tires and it's easy to check the pressure in these with valve stem extension so really nice rims all the way around and it's a beautiful coach I'm gabbing too much about the outside because there's a lot more fun stuff on the inside so let's go on the inside and have a look at the Chinook so here we are in the Chinook Maverick the door is in the back not the side so what that does is allow Chinook to give you a lot more storage do a lot more with an interior space that's otherwise limited by not having a side door so I'll get to that storage in a minute on the side and the cabinets but here's a bunch of storage right inside the door where it should be a huge closet and I say huge this is bigger than a lot of travel trailers and motorhomes that are 30 feet long I've got I'm gonna guess about 28 inches long of a closet rod here so I can I could put golf clubs in here you name it a lot of closed storage right inside the door where it's very handy now right up here is going to be a lot of your controls so a lot of our lighting controls will be right up here our water pump and our tank heater for when it gets cold different settings on on your lights I can check our tank levels our truma controls rest right here and then a familiar thermostat here works just like home where the what mode you want it on AC or heat you can set your heat right there and fan speed and so on so moving up into here we've got the bath area a nice shower so this is really a nice solid surface material it's not flimsy plastic it's really nice I am six feet tall so I have room to get in here and uh and I appreciate that it's not a wet bath so it's not everything in one space it's a shower here and it's a toilet and sink over there which I'll show you right now again solid surface so we have solid surface throughout the whole coach and this really nice accent lighting under here which also makes for a really nice night light mirror up here a little medicine cabinet to the side here I've also got lighting controls here a fantastic fan control here so it's really easy to reach up here yourself but you can do it fully automatically and set it by temperature so this will open and close based on temperature and of course I have 110 power this is a foot flush ceramic porcelain I should say toilet and so plenty of room in here with a little more storage underneath very nice so I like that it's a traditional bath setup and not a wet bath I already bragged on this refrigerator so this is a three-way fridge moving into the galley area segment of the coach so it's 12 volts it's 110 120 technically or propane so any scenario this will run on now this is a neat thing if I'm outside cooking and I'm coming in here I need to grab the ketchup or whatever or a beverage out here I can do that I'm back out the door if I'm on this side and I'm working here in the sink and I have my cooktop here I can open it up both the freezer and the refrigerator from that side really really handy quite a fantastic and it's a pretty nice I think it's 6.1 cubic foot if I'm not mistaken so pretty decent sized fridge again for a 24 an inches long motor home this is a convection microwave up here it's not huge but it's big enough to warm up things leftovers and so on and again convection and microwave both now bragging on storage we got more here this goes all the way to the outside wall great for cookie sheets and that kind of thing plus two little Cubbies up here same drill goes all the way to the outside wall now up into the business area of the galley I have a sink with a it's a single nice big sink so plenty big enough to put big pots and pans in again this is solid surface you know what I think I do I think I would put a cutting board on this I would probably epoxy a cutting board and now I've always got a cutting board on the back side of this just an idea what do you do this when you don't need it there's a little recessed area or area right there's perfect to rest it so if you don't need it up there you can just pop it down there so stainless backsplash all the way around and then here is a pull out Pantry so great for spices and canned goods and everything how neat is that and they're adjustable so each one of these shelves is also adjustable or you might want to remove one but you can adjust these to fit whatever you want to store in this little mini Pantry that's really neat so now we have a single burner induction portable cooktop so here's where you're doing your cooking it's only getting hot when an induction piece of cookware is placed on it I can take this out and unplug it and then take this and lay it on that table right outside where there's power and I can do my cooking outside if you're frying bacon or fish or something like that you want to keep the smells and the heat outside super easy to do that got two drawers under here now this is pretty neat check this out Chinook branded right on the side of the drawer and we have our dovetail joints so they're rightfully proud of their cabinet build there's no particle board in this or Staples it's really nicely done I appreciate that a bunch now why is there's a why is there a coke bottle opener so this is something that Harkens way back way in the early years of Chinook they put Coca-Cola bottle openers in so this is a little nod to the past your unit's going to have a Coke bottle opener just like it did back in the day right there pop it open pretty handy what actually have one of these at home so right here is your solar charging information and your inverter so we do have a 3 000 watt pure sine wave inverter and here's where your control rests for that um I've got lighting controls at different points of the coach right inside the door back there there's some right here there's some right here and so you're never farther than an arms link away from different lighting controls also USB and regular household power right there as well now I mentioned storage so again 24 feet 5 inches I've got one two three four five six so I've got eight storage compartments all along the top on either side of here and notice that they're open back here so I can put a long item up in here and uh have have room to store all kinds of things similar drill on this side and again I mentioned early on that there's vinyl insulated padding on this coach so it's on the walls down here that's also inside the cabinets that does a number of things one of them is pretty obvious it's a soft touch it's easy to clean but the insulating quality is very important so one challenge a lot of us of us rvers have is if you're parked somewhere in a hot climate the sun's hitting this side and you've got chocolate bars in there they melt because it gets really warm in here that insulates the inside of the cabinet space and keeps it cool in there that's really really great also it's quiet so it quiets the ride of the coach as well quite a bit because there's a layer of insulation behind that all the way around so it's a lot quieter than it would be without that we do have a single AC unit right up here and it is fully deducted so these are your ducts so it's Distributing the air equally throughout the coach now we have MCD brand roller shades on either side of the coach MCD has long been recognized as a top brand in roller shade technology they are soft closed so you have your full blackout Shades here soft close and I have the day Shades down right now on both sides first RV my wife and I got that had day Shades out of the uh great another roller shave a big deal they're great because they let in some natural light they keep it cool and they add another level of privacy now the windows are tinted you'd be hard-pressed to see in here anyway but with these down there's no way you're seeing inside and yet I can be inside and see the goings on out there and it provides uh uh it helps keep it cool in here as well now these walls are angled a little bit so there's magnets on either side of this roller shade if they weren't there it would hang down like this but there's a magnet right there that keeps the shade up like that really handy so just give it a little tug and up it goes now I can open up these windows there's a small window here and a small window here that I pointed out when I was on the outside of the coach so just pull up this little thing right here and give this a slide and now we can let the fresh air in and this is magnetized so it actually opens up completely I can pass a beverage through the door I guess if you want to but this is a screen and again it's got strong magnets on it so you can pop that magnet on there pull the whole thing closed and lock it in place for travel so that's real Handy and then again when it's time to block everything out time to sleep pop that down those magnet magnets catch on the bottom and make it a total blackout situation we have a padded ceiling too so that adds some insulation it also adds some some quietness to the ride I mentioned that the exterior walls are aluminum the roof is a one-piece fiberglass roof on this unit all right what about sleeping and eating so right here we have a small dinette your two options are your options in terms of floor plan on the Maverick are the SS which is a single sofa which is what we have here or a DS which is double sofa so it would be just this on both sides and you would not have a dinette I personally very much like the dinette so we stop pull over want to make a sandwich or something I can do that right here easy to pop uh sit down and have a have lunch or whatever right here we're recline over there on the sofa side now when it comes time to turn this into a bed we can do that too if you have two sofas they're going to drop down into a giant sleeping surface but you can do that with this too and it's pretty easy to do before I go there I want to point out some more controls that are right behind here since I'm going to take these cushions off anyway our light controls are right here again I have USB and household power here and then our generator start and stop plus our hour meter is right here next to the cooktop area as well so how about let's show off how we can convert this into a sleeper and give you an idea how that works first of all we're going to do is take these cushions off I'm going to drop this table this isn't a hide-a-bed it's a slide a bed as they say yeah so first step in this is we're going to remove the cushions so I'm going to just lay these cushions down here for the purposes of our little display so I can just convert this into a bed without touching this if I want to do that what you're going to do is lift up on this and drop these legs while I have this open let me go ahead and show off what's under here this is our truma Combi system again this is our furnace it's also our water heater assembly it's very accessible here all our valves are all our PEX Plumbing fittings are easily accessible in the event that you ever need to get in here for a service related requirement here's our JBL subwoofer so we have a JBL sound system on these if you've watched any of my videos you know I brag on JBL the brand I am a musician so I like to hear my music and so not only can I hear it with the JBL sound system but there's a subwoofer under here as well so this is your furnace ducts right here so and they're coming out here on the side your air conditioner of course coming from the top but your furnace ducts are down here right here is our Xantrex 3000 inverter resting right under here so anyway nice to have all this I'm not recommending you use this for storage for much of anything because you don't want to interfere with what's going on in here but back to the bed situation pop these legs out again it's not a height of bed it's a slighter bed because look it just slides out like so then you just drop it down and pop this back part down and now I have a bed here so I can have a bed without even doing anything to this at all if I want to convert it to a bed a ginormous bid I can do that as two do that as well that's what I said that's what I'm going to do I'm just going to pop this out of the way give myself a little room you'll want to remove these bottom cushions first so this table can go down so just remove these push it down how easy was that pull these off cushion cushion cushion all right so there's a little twin bed by itself so maybe you had this maybe just maybe that's all you need you might be by yourself that's all you would have to do for a bed when a bigger bed drop this side so if I want to have a really big bed again I'm going to pop this down pop this down in the back and there we go so I'm six feet tall I'm gonna keep my feet off of here because y'all have reminded me before take my shoes off before I do this so my feet are down there big bed surface here if you want a big bed if you're good with just a twin size bed you're good there too when it comes to entertainment you don't have to sacrifice there either this has a JBL sound system very fond of it you can pair this with your phone and push music from your phone through this system which is all controlled right up here there's a remote control too but right here's your master control for whether you have AM FM you can go to USB in there auxiliary one and two and then HDMI and then finally Bluetooth pair your phone push any kind of music you want through here and then our TV there's a Samsung Smart TV there is a storage cubby in here right here's where you control your subwoofer there's a storage compartment right here and behind door number three there's even more storage so we don't lose this storage up here by virtue of having a TV you can still access that entire space back there for extra storage put another con gaming console or something like that up there so it's nice to have that all in all remember we're in a unit without a slide out and I don't feel cramped in here I'm doing the Dosey dough with the cameraman here a little bit but it's not bad so we can pass each other in this aisle and not feel cramped a lot of bee Vans these days have a painfully narrow aisle through the middle there's no put no chance you're passing somebody in the middle and this the way it's designed with that rear entry door allows Chinook to do some really creative things with the interior space in terms of fit and finish and the way everything's put together I'm impressed I'm impressed my wife and I have owned a bunch of motorhomes and I like the European hinges I like the cabinet work everything the fit and finish feels really nicely so I'm giving Chinook a thumbs up in that respect before we wrap up the tour I'm going to jump up into the cab and show you a few things there foreign the cockpit of this Ford Transit very comfortable I'll put up beside me some of the cab conveniences and safety features of this Ford Transit but it's got a lot of things that you would expect adaptive cruise control a lot of safety features and cab convenience features one thing I want to point out before I forget is that this unit does have four point Auto leveling sometimes in the B van segment even b-plus van segment you don't get Auto leveling and you do here so when it comes time to set up camp uneven ground you don't have to pull this thing up on leveling blocks or whatever Auto leveling four point really nice now I have a nice big screen here so we have our Android auto and apple carplay this is outfitted with a camera in the back as well Sirius XM radio so all of those Creature Comforts and conveniences you expect will come on this in this nice display light camera right here here's a neat thing too Chinook has ordered this with a brake controller an integrated brake controller from Ford right here so you've already got a brake controller in the event that you're pulling a boat uh heck you can pull a small travel trailer behind this as well anything that requires brakes you've already got a brake controller in here that's not something that you're going to have to add later I do have cup holders on either side I've got storage Cubbies up here USB 12 volt accessed power up here as well these seats are quite comfortable again I mentioned the mirrors are power and heated real Handy there and I've got our convenience lights up here as well so hey we are in a 2024 Maverick it's a chinook Maverick this is the SS model if you have questions about this unit drop them in the comments section below
