hey everybody Welcome to the full button tutorial of the 2023 Toyota RAV4 XLE we're sitting in the gas model of course if you have the hybrid model it's going to be very close we're going to start from left to right in this video so be sure to follow along you can press pause if you need to if you just bought this car I hope the video helps you out and supplement to your user manual and if you have any questions be sure to comment down below let's begin so starting on the door you actually have one touchdown on all four windows and one touch up if you do a hard click and release or hard pull and release of course if you push it gently you can control it in small amounts the button up front here will actually lock the windows from passengers opening them then you have the door lock and the door unlock the door lock will have two little nubbies like on the remote so that you can tell without looking if I hit the L I can toggle the left mirror if I hit the r i can toggle the right mirror if I push it halfway it's neutral which means if I push this it doesn't do anything Down Below in the driver's seat I have a forward and back button here with a Twist up and down I also have the recliner and a two-way lumbar support down below that I have locking floor mats that lock in with a quarter turn as long as the arrows match the arrows on the lever it's locked be sure to pull to check but to unlock I do a quarter turn to release on the bottom side of the dash I have two main levers I have one for the locking gas door and the other one for the hood working our way up you'll see the brightness adjustment for the speedometer which will have a clicking position on the top to keep you in the brightest then it gets darker as you go down the next button here is actually going to be for the automatic high beams so when the headlights are on auto this will activate the auto high beams on the side of the steering wheel I can pull down this lever all the way down and I can telescope or raise and lower the steering wheel once I find a setting that I like I can lock the lever back into place and it'll stay right where I put it behind the steering wheel I have two main stocks the one on the left is going to be the lights if I pull this down one it has daytime running lights off which means I'll be driving with no lights on at all the next position is going to be automatic which is where the sensor on the dashboard will determine if I'm in a dark area or it's nighttime and it'll light up the inside buttons turn on the main headlights and kick on the taillights if I leave it in Auto during the day it's going to have daytime running lights on and leave no other lights on so I have better visibility from other people seeing me the third position is parking lights the interior buttons will light up a nice light blue my tail lights will be on and the front lights will be dim there'll be two little bars of LED just to reveal my position so that people can identify me but I can see the inside this is going to be the headlights so if you don't like using the auto position or say it's raining during the day and you want all the lights on now you have the choice to turn everything on now remember with the auto high beams selected on the auto system actually doesn't need to be pushed forward anymore for the high beams to become automatic it's automatic the way it is and if you push forward it will bypass that putting on the high beams even though they were set to automatic so to leave in Auto keep it back here oh and another fun little tip that most cars have now for the turn signal if you do a little click and release it'll actually give you three blinkers for merging Lanes on the highway nice and easy on to the right stock I have a couple different downward click positions if I lift it up once the wiper will just go once but if I click it down once it's going to be intermittent that means once in a while I can change how often they go when they're in the intermittent phase with this ring if I click it down again it's low and if I click it down again the wipers are going to be high this section here is for the rear wiper on the back windshield it's in the off position now if I click it Forward once it'll go once in a while unaffected by this it just goes once in a while if I click it to the second position here well technically the third position it's going to be on going slow and steady on the top of that stock you'll see a couple symbols that's for your front and rear washer so if I pull this towards me that's the symbol for the front windshield if I push it away that's the symbol for the back windshield on the steering wheel all the buttons on the front there are no buttons on the back so I have two main pads the left pad here will have the arrows that I can go back and forth for the menus in the mid I can also go up and down through the pages I can select a menu or page or go back so just to demonstrate as I hit the left you'll see I'm going to go through the different menus on the bottom each icon will pop up once I get to a menu I can go up and down through different pages and then I can hit select and back these only operate the mid they don't do anything on the main screen here this button here will be to either connect the phone or to make a phone call and then this will change the volume to the music or volume to the phone call that I'm on and this button is great because if I push it once it's going to activate the Toyota audio assistant but if I push and hold foreign you see Siri pops up or Google Assistant whatever interface you're using so that's great for doing audio commands with the car on the right side of the steering wheel the main bread and butter is going to be the dynamic radar cruise control to set the cruise control I push the little car button with the speedometer and I'll get a little symbol here on the top left let me turn it off by pushing it again if I push and hold that button the car goes away and the arrow goes to the left that's the regular speed cruise control so that's the cruise control that's actually not going to sense anything in stop so you have a choice between the new one or the old one once I hit that button once it'll say radar ready I can set it with the set button and I can increase speed with the Plus or decrease speed with the minus it'll show the speed on the mid I can cancel like this or I can turn it off with the brake but when I'm in that Dynamic radar cruise control the car will break or speed up for me of course I can use the following distance that are between three different sensitivities to change how close it follows the car in front of me and with the lane departure alert for regular driving it'll have the steering assist that will steer me back in my Lane but when active in the cruise control this Lane departure alert has Lane Trace assist which will try to keep me in the center lane it's not a self-driving car so if I don't hold the steering wheel you might see it steer a little bit in the highway it's going to eventually alert you to grab the steering wheel because it's not a self-driving feature guys keep that in mind the bottom two buttons are focused on music which has a little bit of symmetry with this side the bottom two buttons here are going to be the secant track for your songs and then I have the mode when I push mode it'll go through AM FM Bluetooth Sirius Etc if I push and hold it's a secret pause slash mute button which is pretty cool that sums up the steering wheel let's move on to buttons by the shifter so buttons by the shifter the P that lights up is the automatic parking brake when I take it out of park it goes dark and it disengages I can also tell because up here I don't see it say park in red when I put it back in park within two seconds it'll re-engage and you'll see it says Park and red right down here in the bottom left that's how you know the parking brake is on it does it all on its own you don't have to worry about it you'll feel a slight pulse in the brake pedal and you might even hear a little robotic sound because it's an electronic application for the hold button that allows you to come to a stop at the drive-through or the lights if you're doing some busy City driving and actually take your foot off the brake while the car is in Drive you have to be buckled up so let me demonstrate when I push the button up top here on the mid you're going to see it says hold now I'm gonna put it in Drive ready my foot's on the brake you're gonna see it says holding gold right over here when I see the gold right over there I can take my foot off the brake even though I'm in Drive when I give it a little bit of gas you're gonna see the gold goes away and the car moves forward but when I come to a stop again soon as it's gold I can take my foot right off that break so super convenient say you have a knee injury a leg injury your legs are tired you went to the gym you did some running or it's just been a long day we just like to you know relax your legs it's been a long drive you have that option just don't forget this is not made to work in Reverse it's only made to work and drive if you think about it it makes sense and don't forget to put your car back in park or the car will yell at you when you try to turn it off over here is the multi-terrain select with the drive mode pad so I have the Eco normal and Sport those are actually going to change the color of the speedometer so when I hit Eco the speedo will go green when hit normal it'll go white and when it support the speedometer is going to go red I can operate any of these while moving by the way so check this out here's Eco that's going to power me down a little bit less power more gas mileage normal is going to be regular a blend between the two sports gonna be a little more power a little less gas mileage you can stay in any mode you want to all the time you can switch them whenever you want there's no better time to use one versus the other just use them based on your needs and preferences I'm one of the people that like sport mode a lot of the time but if I really want to squeeze some gas I'd probably put an eco mode there are people that don't like either they like to be in the middle so it's totally up to you for the multi-train select you'll have snow mode that takes off in second gear to reduce your wheel slip that's all that does and they brought the snowflakes back guys so let me zoom in here snowflakes pop up on the top left the top right let me turn that one off there we go got the snowflakes back they did away with those for a while and also says snow right over here next to sport so you can combine them the modern sand which is next we'll turn it yellow the color of sand and give you a little sand effect on the bottom notice how it turns off the skid control and it turns off the pre-collision which makes sense because you're likely going to be sliding around in sand there's no need to stop your momentum which is precious in the sand you got to drive at your own risk and remember do your research before you go on the sand there are a lot of specifics about driving in the sand it might not be worth it if you're not well versed moving on to rock and dirt you get the rocks and it turns like a rocky purplish gray color really cool how you get the color coordination which is something you used to not get fully it makes you be able to identify things very easy it'll say rock and dirt over here picture of the rocks and The Rock color ring of course you have all your safety systems working there and that's just going to change the way the all-wheel drive system works a little bit to enhance your grip for climbing over some rocks I wouldn't recommend any heavy duty rock crawling like you see some of the trucks and forerunners do but if you're on a pretty rugged gravel Trail this will take it and The Rock and dirt might help you then you just push it again to take it out or sorry you go to normal mode so Sam and sand and I want to get out of it I just hit normal now sales in sport and snow and I want to get out of sport mode I just hit normal and it'll keep me in snow mode but if I'm in sand and I hit normal it takes me out completely if I'm sand and I go to sport I can't combine them see that guys if I go to rock and dirt and Sport can't combine them so snow mode is the only mode that combines with the three different Drive modes your mud and sand do not combine its pick or choose got it cool so these are the buttons by the shifter like I mentioned earlier you can go down to drive if you saw the review video you can shift it over to the S and you can toggle up or down in all eight real gears in the 8-speed transmission which you'll see on the bottom of the mid great for controlling your revs so you're going up that steep hill and you want to do 20 miles an hour at 2000 RPMs in Gear 2 and you want to use momentum you have the choice to get out of it you just go over up and the parking brake kicks in done let's move on to the climate control so for Toyota's RAV4 climate control if you've seen the RAV4 before this is nothing new but if you're new to it you have these two huge knobs with the rubberized finish here that operates your Dual Zone climate so the driver can control the whole car when they're synchronized the passenger doesn't have to hit sync to release themselves they just simply turn the knob and they can have their own temp to synchronize it you push sync and the driver can now control it all from here to change the fan speed all you have to do is hit the big fan symbol for more or the little fan symbol for Less notice how it's right next to its symbol for the air Direction now say I'm just on feet and I'm starting to panic because my windshield is fogging up I don't have to push this a million times and get lost looking for the the setting here with the windshield all I have to do is hit the dedicated front defroster notice how there's a rear defroster makes total sense because you're most likely to use these together so at any time you get a foggy windshield boom there's a button right there next to your hands at all times ready to roll but here's one of my favorite settings you can change it anytime the ecoheat and cool when you hit eco mode it will automatically put you in ecoheating cool the AC is a little less freezing the Heat's a little less scorching but I would say most people could probably use ecoheat and cool all year round when you put it in the sport mode it's going to release you out of ecoheating cool in normal mode I can use ecoheating cool combined now if I go to sport mode I can keep it in ecoheating cool but on many occasions it'll self release so you just want to make sure when you hit sport mode and the speedo is red you reactivate it but it is normal for that to take itself out sometimes I am one of the people that would just leave in ecoheating cool all the time because it reduces the drag a little bit you know some cars they have like that air conditioner drag takes that out not that the RAV4 has much but it does take it out when you leave it here foreign moving down the board we have the recirculate button and the rear passenger cancellation so since the RAV4 XLE has a vent in the back you can turn that vent off like that so Sarah rear passengers are a little on the cold side you can just kill the vent to say they're a little hot you can kill the vent right there or you can turn the vent back on like that the recirculate button is kind of close to the AC button which makes sense because you want to use these together on the hot weather so that you're cooling the air that's already cool so you're not using the AC but you want to use this another time that you might want to use recirculate is if you're driving in a stinky area you're on a tunnel you're behind a garbage truck you can temporarily use that to keep the smell out but do be aware that in the cooler weather or the muggy rainy weather you may fog up using this so use it sparingly in those Weathers now more buttons by the shifter we have the traction control release if you want to turn it off it will turn itself back on when you restart the vehicle an example of one you'd want to turn this off would be if it's snow driving and you want full power to the wheels if you're driving in some mud gravel different terrains and you want to allow for more wheel slip that depends on your driving experience so I would recommend leaving this on most of the time anyway which is why itself you know initiates every time you start the car it could save your life and all this does is when one of the wheels is spinning because of lost traction it cuts the power to it so it can regain traction saves lives moving on to this the gas models have a feature like most new cars where the engine and the car both turn off at the red light to save gas keeping a ghost version of this on running on the battery and the screen if you don't like that option you can actually turn that off by hitting this it doesn't stay off permanently you will have to turn it off every time you start the car but they give you the option if you have the hybrid RAV4 you don't have this button because the Hybrid rav4's engine turns off with the red light but the car does not the gas model is different that's why you have the buttons when you push this you're going to see it in like a pumpkin orange right over by the time and those are the buttons by the shifter the only other one would be the hazard super easy get to it does not light up at night time but when you push that you got the hazards here and let's move our way to the overhead controls and finish up with the screen so for overhead controls this vehicle has the frameless Homelink mirror with the Homelink buttons for the garage there's no Auto dimming feature we also have the sunglass case which is a push release the safety connect door that guards the button you get that for one year it's like an OnStar self-recovery system if you get an accident they can find your location saves lives it saves some of my clients lives individual lights here for both sides set up with the door or turn it on now then we have the little slider for the mirror pretty simple stuff self-explanatory and instead of this sliding around you have the dedicated slide out plastic for the awkward Sun positions one thing to note this RAV4 is a base XLE the 2023 XLE has changed notice the new infotainment system we're going to discuss and the upgraded mid but you used to be able to get three packages on the 2022. the Audio Plus which would upgrade the screen size the weather package heated options and the convenience package which would have been a moon roof and the power hatch for 2023 they got rid of the audio plus it's an 8 inch screen standard now no matter what you get no upgrade size optional at all but you still have the available weather package or convenience package if you have the weather package there will be a heated steering wheel button over here you can't miss it it's a picture of a steering wheel you would also have rain sensing wipers with an auto selection over here and change the rain sensitivity and then you would get your heated seats which would be a little button here and a little button here for the heated seats you'd have high off and low for the heated seats if you also had a RAV4 with the convenience package you'd have the moon roof over here with a sliding shade you'd also have a button here and a button here one would be open and close and the other one will be up and down I believe the up and down is here to ventilate and close it and then if you push and hold the open button you can release and it'll slide open and then of course you'd have an additional button on that convenience package over here for opening up your hatchback because it would be a power hatchback and in the mid you'd be able to change the height because it's a height adjustable hatchback so those are the two packages available that this one does not have the weather package and the convenience package let's check out the mid because I forgot about the mid and then we're going to move on to the infotainment screen so Speedo cluster slash mid you have the RPMs over here on the left you have your fuel on the right with a little arrow next to the fuel symbol to remind you that the arrow the gas caps on the driver's side then you have your temperature there's a little stock here to go through your trip and your odometer and that nice rainbow speedometer that changes colors with the drive mode like I showed you before there's arrows in the steering wheel that I can use when I go to the right the little icons light up on the bottom doing this quickly the leaf is just your Eco menu shows you different gas mileage stuff over again I have the compass if I go up on page it just shows me some of my safety Sun stuff I like the compass over again you have the music so it'll show you what song you were listening to or are listening to pastel ghost is pretty cool um but I listen to everything on to the information page you can see your individual tire pressure on the RAV4 which is great lots of people prefer that I recommend checking tire pressure once a week once a month Max all-wheel drive control will actually show you your center of gravity with a little red ball and it'll show you how much power each wheel is getting in your trip summary moving along again this is a bigger page here you got different settings to stuff so Lane Trace assist pre-collision system I can turn the blind spot monitor on and off that's a little orange light in the mirror if somebody's in the blind spot the rear cross traffic alert will beep if it senses driving behind me people driving around that's not parking sonar which will be as you get closer to things the road sign assist that will read certain road signs and show them on the mid so you can turn that off if you want to I can press and hold the OK button to actually change some of the settings to these systems so I'll show you this pre-collision I can actually change sensitivity and turn it on and off here Lane Trace assist I can change the sway warning on and off if I'm sleepy sensitivity the lane Center I can turn back on moving down vehicle settings press and hold ok I can change settings for the auto start stop tire pressure monitoring system the rear seat reminder for pets and kids scheduled maintenance reminders Etc and the mid settings I can change the language units turn off the Eco reminder that's just a little badge that pops up when you're driving good and more importantly I can turn the mid off if I want it to be a little more simple over here next menu is a little warning symbol if the car needs maintenance or there's something actually wrong with it or it senses something up to warn you about it's going to store it right there and it'll keep that little orange reminder on the bottom to keep reminding you and that summarizes the mid it's pretty simple once you play with it a few times let's move on to the famous new software on the wireless carplay for the new RAV4 to keep this short and sweet when you download the Toyota app and activate your account you'll put your phone number into here it'll send a code or you can do the QR code and you can connect to a Bluetooth bam you now have the projection without having to plug it in this is what it looks like for Apple so you can go through the different apps you can't really change many settings here with the Apple you can see your navigation you can go through your music phone calls Etc if you push a little widget sign you go back to the apps to get to the Toyota interface you hit the black symbol here and this will go to Toyota settings so without going through the advanced stuff that's really saved for the technicians you can see the music here you can do some basic I don't know viewing of things that you can already see in the mid but I'm trying to keep it short and sweet when you go down to the bottom here the fun stuff is vehicle customization this is where you can change how long the lights stay on when you turn the car off including your interior lights your door lock control so you can change the door lock settings most cars when you put it into park the door is unlocked when you put it into drive they lock so you can change that say you want to put it in park in the door stay locked you can you can set that up there there's some climate settings in here you can check for software updates you can set a dealership to go and maintain it at so you can change your your voice word it gets pretty technical a lot of people leave that stuff stock they just like to kind of finagle what the vehicle customization for these things you can even have the phone search special apps that can go on the screen that might not normally have got on the screen there's not a ton to do here they really are trying to move you towards this and have you operating most of the stuff through this which is why we don't even need a home screen anymore we don't need secant track it's all operated through here eyes free while you're looking at the road you just memorize that playing the music answering the phone calls doing Siri Google Assistant no I'm not going to show you my personal apps I'm not going to show you my songs but that's the basics there now like I said you can change some of the stuff here you can even use the Toyota navigation that they want you to sign up for a subscription I would say check it out it's definitely worth checking out it's really nice but I will probably admit most people are probably just gonna do this and yeah it's not as long you'll notice if you've seen my other tutorial videos it's not as long and drawn out as the last infotainment system software it's much more mainstream it's much more ergonomic it's faster it's streamlined it's nicer from the beginning it's a little tough to get connected if you're new to the Toyota app but once you're used to this this is a lot better than the last system so let me know what you think about this if you want to see really Nitty Gritty digging in deep go to my channel and check out the tundra or the Highlander button tutorial I spend a lot more time but from here on out on these tutorial videos I'm going to be keeping this short and sweet because there really is not a whole lot to do here besides Enjoy your music make some phone calls change a couple settings say you wanted to change your time you can go to settings oh sorry it's not there it is it's in your general settings right there simple it's pretty much all you're going to want to do so that concludes the 2023 Toyota RAV4 XLE tutorial I hope you liked it and I hope it was useful I tried to keep it as short and sweet as I could without skipping stuff let me know down below if it helped you please share with friends or family that may benefit and do consider subscribing if you are not already subscribed I promise to give you quality Toyota content through and through year after year thanks again everybody I will see you in the next video
