first thing I don't really like Coupe style SUVs you must because you're watching this review now that's out of the way this is the Havel H6 GT a coupe style take on the H6 SUV it's still very practical it's really good value for money it's got a pretty Punchy engine but geez it's got some really annoying features that I'm going to tell you all about in this review so stay tuned thanks for watching please like And subscribe if you haven't already and hit the Bell to keep up to date with all of my reviews I've got plenty more coming and let me know if there's any other Coupe SUVs you'd like me to test if I have to there are two versions of the Havel H6 GT available though you wouldn't be able to split them in traffic because they look pretty much identical from the outside so the entry level version is the front wheel drive Lux and it comes with the same sort of stuff that you can see on the exterior of this car LED lights and tail lights we've also got 19-inch alloy wheels as well inside you get a 10 inch touchscreen media system and some pretty nice interior trim elements too and if you choose the top spec Ultra all-wheel drive which is this one here you obviously get all-wheel drive as standard you get a bigger touchscreen media system get a head-up display you get electric adjustment for the passenger's seat as well as for the driver's seat which you get in the base model as well plus there's heated and cooled front seats a heated steering wheel a big panoramic sunroof as well so it does feel like you're getting the extra money that you're spending when it comes to value for money but which one would you pick I'm not convinced that there are any better Rivals to this car at this price point anyway but if you want an alternative that is pretty much an affordable SUV Coupe then the Renault Arcana could be one you'd want to look at I've driven that car and I really did not like it I thought that the engine and transmission was pretty abysmal to be frank so I wouldn't recommend it but you might like the look of it and if you can live with the powertrain it's pretty good value so if you've got more money to spend and you're not afraid to spend it then I would recommend that you have a look at the Audi Q3 sportback it is a gorgeous looking Coupe style SUV and I reckon it ticks the box if you are after something that's premium and maybe has a bit more of a premium brand cachet to it as well and if you're looking for just a really good looking SUV that is not necessarily a coupe but has some really Sleek lines then the Cupra formenta could be the car for you hit the link at the top of the screen there and you'll be able to check out my review of that vehicle I think it's a fantastic and semi-premium sporty SUV and it's maybe a little bit more attractive than this Beast if you ask me for some reason this SUV looks smaller than it is but it's actually pretty big more than 4.7 meters long it's two meters wide so it's a pretty bulky thing and it's almost as tall as I am so don't think that it's a small SUV because it isn't now it does have some interesting sporty design cues here you've got these little flicks along the edges of the side skirt and not one but two rear spoilers now sorry about the shadow there but I just want to show you the back end I don't love these badges there's just too many badges happening here and these number plate fake covers they just look a little bit cheap so hopefully Havel can fix that stuff because it would improve the appeal in my opinion anyway now let's check out the boot because there's a bit to talk about as I mentioned this top spec version does come with an electric tailgate and yes because it is a coupe style SUV that space is a little bit impacted by the fact that it has this cutaway a style boot so it doesn't have the biggest boot for an SUV of this size 392 liters is actually pretty small in terms of the official volume however as you can see on your screen now I did manage to fit my little girl's pram in there pretty easily with a fair bit of extra space as well so it's not necessarily impractical it's just not as practical as the size of this SUV maybe suggest that it should be under the boot floor you do have a space saver spare wheel which is good to see there's a little bit of extra space around there too so if you do want to hide something underneath there you probably could so it could be better but it's not necessarily bad let's say you've walked into the Havel dealership and you own a 12 year old Mitsubishi Outlander or maybe a three generation old Toyota RAV4 and you're thinking I need a new car and I want it to feel a bit special this one does feel special for the money that you're paying there is a lot of perceived quality and really plush finishes in a car like this for not a whole lot of money in today's standards so why does it feel special it's a mix of the materials that have been used and also the apparent technology that's available to you so let's go through the material stuff first I love these seats I think they're fantastically comfortable they're not the most adjustable which does annoy me a little bit I wish I could just sit it a little bit differently the angle of the seat base isn't quite right for me but I think that the material finishes like this micro suede finish here I'm not so hot on the GT badge but I think it adds some element of pleasantness to this cabin that same material is on this elbow rest here and on the elbow rest on the doors too and then there's this finish across the dashboard which is like a checker plate or a carbon fiber look finish and I think it looks really nice too plus there's this other finish on the struts I guess you'd call them that come down onto this transmission area here it just looks really good like there's a really nice feel to this cabin but when it comes to the usability things could be better when it comes to this screen in particular now if you've watched any of my other gwm or Havel reviews you'll know that the screens do tend to annoy me a little bit because you have to do so much through them there is a panel of buttons below so you can hit the AC button and that'll take you to the AC menu but it means you've got to turn the air conditioning off or on to activate that menu to come up because otherwise it's a little bit difficult to get into and a lot of the stuff that that you have to do through the screen can be quite confusing so for example if you want to turn the seat heaters on in most other cars it would be a button that you would press and the seat heater would come on instead in this car you have to go to the car menu and then seat and then there's Heating and ventilation buttons on the screen they're not buttons they're menus I guess but it isn't as intuitive or as simple as it could be and then if you want to turn on the steering wheel heater it's the same sort of thing you have to actually go down to the Comfort menu and then hit another button there so look those aren't deal breakers and you will get used to doing that sort of sequence it's just that it's not as intuitive as it could be there's another screen in front of the driver as well a digital screen with the information you'd expect you've got a digital Speedo and a trip readout and that sort of stuff and also that's where you'll see whether you are on Lane keeping assist or not and active cruise control or not so there's a of it to get your head around on that little screen too when it comes to storage it's pretty good in here there's this obviously this bridge section here with a storage section below where my phone's sitting down there at the moment there's a wireless phone charger up here too bottle holders with a little adjustable lever thing covered center console bin which is huge you've got big bottle holders in the doors with big trays down there as well so practicality Wise It's really good up front so let's check out and see if the back is too it is a pretty big SUV and it feels pretty big in the back seat too so this seat is set for me at 182 centimeters or six foot tall I've got heaps of room it's really really spacious actually lots of leg room heaps of foot room pretty good Headroom too and I think that's the thing about this Coupe SUV is that the roof line doesn't rake from the B pillar it rakes from the c-pillar so you don't actually have that much of an impact on back seat head space which is really good to see but as you can see in the boot section of this video it does impact the boot a little bit so in terms of the Comfort back here it's pretty good the seat's comfy it's cushy and there's a nice amount of sponginess to it so if you want to fit three across I reckon they're going to be pretty comfortable as well because it's wide and there's not too much of a transmission tunnel getting in the way as well so that's nice to see there are directional air vents there's a couple of USB ports down here you've got map pockets on the seat backs you've got door Pockets that aren't massive they don't have a cut out for a bottle or anything like that but you do have a flip down armrest with cup holders here if you need it and if you've got kids there are isofix points in the window seats three top tether points as well and it's a pretty comfortable thing in the back one thing I really like about it is that they haven't cheaped out and made the back seat armrests miss out on the soft materials and stuff it just makes it feel like you're getting a little bit more value for money the outputs for this engine seem a little bit low you'll see them on your screen now but then you put it in race mode yeah it has a race mode and it is a fair bit more zesty than those figures suggest it should feel there's a seven speed dual clutch automatic transmission I'll tell you more about that in the driving section as well and you get the choice of front-wheel drive as I mentioned in the base model and all-wheel drive if you want it in this top spec version so is the Havel H6 GT a sporty car to drive well it looks sporty and if you are trading up from one of those old SUVs that I mentioned before then it's going to feel sporty to you but in current terms by current standards it's not all that sporty look it does have that zesty two liter turbo petrol engine which I mentioned feels like it's got actually a bit more grunt than the numbers suggest and like I said there is a race mode I've got it set up so it's a favorite and yeah it's a bit silly if I'm honest um look it does sound pretty cool and it does liven up the acceleration and the gear changes a bit as well but I haven't been driving in race mode all that much during my week with this car I've just been driving in normal mode turn off now go away and it is uh okay in that sort of situation it's just there are some frustrating elements including the Dual clutch automatic transmission so if you are in a built up area like I'm in right now let's say you want to stop at this intersection you want to turn right as I'm going to do now let's go whoa see okay it's um yeah acting a little bit silly and that's part of the characteristic of this car it's hard to judge what it's going to do next and that means that it's not fantastic to drive one thing I have noticed during my time in this car is that when you are crawling at really low speed maybe you're waiting for a parking spot or something like that and you get back onto the throttle if you're really easing onto the throttle it might shudder a little bit and that isn't the most reassuring feeling and also I just want to add that this gear selector is one of the worst it has no stopper at the edge of the rotary dial selection so a lot of rotary dial gear selectors have a stopper at the end so make sure that you don't go past reverse or past drive and just keep twisting the wheel this one doesn't have that and it can be really frustrating if you're in a hurry and you're doing a three-point turn or a five-point turn in a tight Street there's traffic around you get frustrated it can really get frustrating right reverse parallel park test here put it into reverse yes I had to look away from the road to put it into reverse uh so back in surround View Camera is excellent gives you a really good view although I hate the fact that it's always coming on at lower speeds when it doesn't really need to then the forward View Camera comes on as well which is really really good it's got one of the best camera systems in the game I think and it really does help if you aren't certain of yourself and this is a big car remember so it's pretty hard to park um yeah it's just one of those things that helps out all right I've made sure I'm in Reverse now back to drive yay there we go we're off again so that transmission in combination with turbo lag from the engine makes it feel like it can go you know nothing nothing and if that's okay with you um then fine but I think there are more refined engines and Transmissions out there in fact I drove the H6 hybrid the SUV version of this car hit the link at the top of your screen there that car was so much more refined than this when it comes to this day-to-day driving thing I just also want to say that the adaptive cruise control in this car not only is it well a little bit frustrating because it struggles with the Dual clutch take up and turbo lag as well especially if you're in a traffic jam or something like that but it also almost feels like it's ABS braking at times and you can get this sort of it's like a breaking feeling which maybe it's just this car but even so if it is just this car it might just be someone else's car too so yeah not amazing the ride's okay it does deal with lumps and bumps in the road surface pretty well for a car that's riding on 19-inch Wheels it's not too bad at all but I just wish the steering was a bit more consistent as well it's just a bit hard to judge at times it seems to be a pretty common theme with this car I don't think this is a bad car I just think that it could be better if you are after a car that really lives up to the idea of something that has a GT badge on it look if that means nothing to you if you just like the look of the car and you are okay with a transmission that maybe doesn't behave as cleverly as it could then it's going to be fine for you but I just wish it was just a bit better let's talk fuel efficiency seven and a half liters per 100ks is what the two-wheel drive version of this vehicle is said to use and if you buy the all-wheel drive one like I'm in today then the number jumps quite a bit to 8.4 liters per 100ks look that's not very efficient for an SUV in this segment most other SUVs are a little bit lower than that so that might play into your decision making process and in the real world what I've seen during my time in this car is a little bit higher again so not necessarily a gas guzzler but if you hit the race mode button and drive it around like that all the time it will be the Havel H6 range managed the maximum five-star and cap safety rating in 2022 that also applies to this GT coupe style model as well now it comes with all the gear that you would expect autonomous emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection there's also Lane keeping assistance emergency Lane keeping assistance which you need to learn the sequence to turn that off because it's pretty Interventional and gets in the way of your driving experience I don't love it then there's also blind spot monitoring and re-cross traffic alert and a surround View Camera as well which is very good to see although that camera system when you are driving at lower speeds it always comes on and that can be annoying maybe you can turn it off but I didn't figure out how to do that in terms of airbag coverage you've got dual front front side a front center airbag to stop head impacts if you are in a side impact collision and there's also curtain airbags that cover the back row as well the Havel range comes with a seven year unlimited kilometer warranty plus there's five years of roadside assist included two and you get a five year capped price service plan applicable to the H6 model range as well you'll see the prices on your screen now for the front wheel drive and all-wheel drive versions there is a bit of a difference and you need to know that the first service is at 10 000 kilometers or 12 months and then it's every 12 months or fifteen thousand K's after that up to what does that make 70 000 K's something like that so it is a little bit irregular when it comes to those service intervals but hey you're pretty well covered for this car look I can see the appeal of the Havel H6 GT I wouldn't personally buy a coupe style SUV but if I was going to buy one if someone said to me you have to have a coupe style SUV it wouldn't be this one I'd buy an Audi Q3 sportback but tell me what you think in the comments section below would you have the H6 GT or a Havel H6 more generally and does the coupe style SUV lifestyle appeal to you and why I just don't get it let me know in the comments section hit like And subscribe if you haven't already and I'll see in the next one
