YouTube what is going on I am money shift and we are inside the 2022 Ford Bronco and today we are going to be doing an extensive walk around and review of my first impressions over the first 400 miles of ownership but before we can do that you guys gotta know the vehicle that we're working with so you already know what that means we got ourselves the Moroni so let's take a look so I can walk you guys through what this vehicle is so that you know as we're walking around what kind of Bronco we are working with we have a 2022 base model two-door 2.3 liter EcoBoost four-cylinder engine with the seven speed manual transmission now when it comes to the base model you get a bunch of features standard but this model specifically has no added options zero not one you guys want proof here take a look for yourself looking at the optional equipment you see the 16-inch painted steel wheels which come with the car the hard top molded in color which comes with the car and the front license plate bracket which they were so gracious to give me for free that gives us a base price of 31 300 with zero additional options for an MSRP of 32895 so when we walk around this Bronco you guys will have a good idea of what a no option base model Bronco is and if that is the right car for you because based on what comes standard on this thing I'd venture to guess a lot of you guys would be more than happy to have this vehicle but without further Ado I'm gonna give you guys the keys let's take a walk around with the keys in your hand let's take a walk around to the 2022 base model Ford Bronco as we step to the front you get your first two clues that this is a base model Bronco first of which are these headlights which are full LED but do not have a halo effect like upper trim level Broncos this is something that Ford has done on the Maverick as well where they give all trims LED headlights but the top trim a little extra effect to let everyone know that you spent more money in addition to that we got the standard bumper which is plastic and then we have the molded in color Grille which does a great job at calling back older Broncos so while there's a lot of plastic up here I do love the appearance of the Bronco overall I wish we could have got the Halo but that could be solved on the aftermarket so I'm not too worried about that as we swing over to the side you get your next clue that this is a base model Bronco and that is the Glorious 16 inch silver painted steel wheels these steel wheels are wrapped in 255's 70r16 all-season tires and look the wheel design itself is great at embodying the character of the Bronco but the wheel Gap is not I could fit a redwood tree in between that Gap and there's a solution for that and we will get to that on a later episode for sure but I love the design of these wheels as we make our way to the back you get yet another clue that you have a base model and again this is something that Ford is doing on all of their models you get a base light here there's no LED Ford did the exact same thing in the Maverick where they gave the Maverick Lariat a nicer tail light but the base model a more base unit so no surprise there swing open this manual swing gate that could swing up to 150 degrees and you get one of your first problems with the Bronco that is the fact that you really have to open up this door a long ways before you can get that glass up it's a little bit annoying and you can see how it could be a problem in tight parking spaces now we got a good amount of trunk space here for again what is a two-door vehicle no problems you get the speakers here for when you go off-roading but let's go inside base model key means base model function so we got lock unlock and panic that's about it no keyless entry here if we want to get inside that Bronco we gotta hit that unlock button open the door and Presto you're inside your Bronco looking at this door panel here they did bring some exterior color inside the cabin which is a nice touch especially if you got a Bronco with a bit more flare on the exterior color scratchy Plastics everywhere but one place in that one place is where you put your hands so we love that they used a soft squishy material there don't really mind the fact that the rest of it is hard plastic that comes to be expected when we're buying something a little bit outdoorsy this pass-through doesn't really make any sense and this netting is okay but the Bronco aftermarket already has solutions for both of those if they really bother you you pillowless window because this is a convertible means it lets it a little bit more wind noise but we'll get to that later on in the video stepping inside the Bronco I was pleasantly surprised with how nice this cabin is starting off with that steering wheel while the material leaves a little bit to be desired it is fine it's not scratchy it's not plasticky it just isn't plush and leather like you would get on a higher trim but more importantly the girth of the steering wheel is perfect in a world where steering wheels are getting thicker and thicker the buttons on this steering wheel though might be my favorite part the right side controls that screen the left side controls cruise control volume up volume down change tracks and buttons for your phone it is all easy to read it is all clear and it's right in front of you while the scratchy plastic on the horn button is there again that comes with the territory of this car you know what you're getting into you're not buying a Mercedes you're not buying a BMW you're buying something that can go off-road your buying something that can be durable long term so some of these materials you sort of just understand right in front of you and right to your right you have two beautiful screens this first one reads the speed it also has a variety of gauges that you can toggle through showing everything from turbo boost to miles per gallon to pitch and all that stuff off-road you can change it all very easily on the inside we got an eight inch infotainment screen that is very quick very Snappy and works with Android auto and apple carplay while you can see the cutout for the larger screen that is available on bigger models you don't really miss it as much eight inches is more than enough because this is a two-door manual we do not get the tank tourney Trail turn assist option we only get traction control and the hazard button and that's okay it gives us space to put our phone or to put something else uh up in that spot I don't miss any of those other features at all quite frankly and it's a nice grippy location because we don't have the auxiliary switches above we have a sunglass case two map lights and that really rounds out the biggest touch points that you're gonna use right in front of you because this is the hard top we actually get sound deadening and it feels like a nice 80s carpet rug up there but it definitely helps keep some of that wind noise out and you can see all the mounting points that make this top pretty easy to take off when the weather gets better we will definitely be showing you guys how to do that hell maybe I'll dress up as Santa Claus and do it for Christmas looking at the age rack controls everything is very straightforward single zone automatic or not automatic climate actually it is a single zone climate system with a volume knob with a two knob with a button for Auto Stop start we'll get to that later on in the video you got buttons to change your track you got you know a selector here for the different modes sport Eco slippery sand the whole nine and then you press those buttons to engage four high four low or Hill descent control that's sort of like a cruise control for downhill you get a USBC and a USB a no wireless charging that's on the upper trims don't really need that it just makes my phone hot anyway love these vent locations okay this car does not have a heated steering wheel but I can point these vents right where my hands would be and it makes them nice and toasty we love that but most importantly we love the fact that we got a six-speed manual transmission here I know the first comment is going to be hey it's a seven speed well you use six of them every day this car has a crawl gear which you go all the way to the left and down and bang you gotta crawl gear but you're not going to be using that every day you're going to be using the six gears that are actually well spaced and useful you can spin low on the highway and third and fourth aren't the same fourth and fifth aren't the same like they are in some Jeep products I actually really really enjoy that transmission but enough about the transmission enough about out the interior let's get to driving because I know you guys are interested in how this manual Bronco performs on the road we're gonna hit this off ramp and then on-ramp portion we are going to talk about how the Ford Bronco is on the highway now I'd give it the beans or do some real back roadsy driving here but let's be honest that's not what the Broncos for you're not buying a base Bronco to take it on a Mountain Road or to take it on a back road quite the opposite you're buying it to go in the dirt or you're just buying it because you freaking like it you don't have to buy one of these cars because you want to go off-road you're buying it because you like it so we're not really going to be pushing it uh it can do it but it leans a lot and it doesn't really Inspire confidence in fact you think it's gonna flip over uh at any given moment but let's give it the beans so you guys can see how this 2.3 liter turbo and manual transmission combine to really pick this car up we're gonna shift into second 15 psi flooring it into third We Touch 18 PSI and we are at 70. so not the quickest thing in the world but also not the slowest this car is over 300 pound-feet of torque and because of that it definitely gets up and gets out of its own way and this manual transmission is very easy to operate allowing you to increase speed very easily it's just and honestly it's kind of fun to use but let's talk about how it is to cruise on the highway now we're cruising at 75 miles an hour right now the engine is spinning at 2.4 RPM so we're looking at 2400 RPM so not a lot of engine noise coming out of this car even at speed where you get the noise is the wind noise take a listen and my take on that is pretty simple if you're buying a Bronco if you're buying a Wrangler if you're buying a vehicle like this that has the ability to take the top off you're buying a convertible and much like that Miata of their convertibles let in wind noise it's just the nature of the Beast it's how these cars operate and the Bronco lets in wind noise but you can have a regular conversation with your passenger which isn't the same for that Miata that Miata at speed it's tough to have a conversation with your passenger because of how much wind noise is being let in at the very least with this car thanks to the sound deadening thanks to how it was designed it's very easy to have a conversation with your passenger this infotainment system is remarkably easy to use at speed it's very Snappy very clear and it's Apple carplay Android auto you guys know where everything is at all times and you can use Voice Commands to control it just the same and thanks to the fact that we have steering wheel buttons these are very easy to use to control this screen volume up volume down change tracks cruise control it's also easy none of it's capacitive so you actually know when you're doing something full stop plain and simple we have a volume knob we have a tune knob we have switches here as well single zone climate again everything is just so damn easy to use whether you're 20 or 120 you can get in this car and understand very easily where things are located so how's the Comfort around town now we're in a small New England Town Road here and it's a little bumpy thanks to all the horrible road salt and plowing that we use on our roads but this Bronco is taking it very very well I'm floating over these not like I would if I had a Sasquatch package or a Bronco Raptor but it is actually remarkably comfortable a lot more comfortable than uh some of the other vehicles I owned even more recently the Pulstar 2 I owned and the reason for that is the amount of suspension travel you have and the amount of Tire you have we have 275s underneath this Bronco which do a great job at soaking up bumps is this transmission around town down while the clutch if you guys have driven a Honda manual transmission thank the Lord it does not have the sort of on off lightness of a Honda manual transmission actually there's a little bit of weight to the clutch which makes this very easy to use the clutch communicates with your foot so that you understand when you need to let off of it in order to engage or when you can hold it to maintain your place hello it's very easy now what I want to do you know 18 hours of Los Angeles New York or Boston traffic with this no but overall putt-putting around town here it's super easy and if you guys get the tune from Ford or this you actually get rev manual uh wow rev manual rev matching for downshifts which is super nice and it makes it even easier because you don't have to you know double clutch or do it yourself you know not that it's hard or anything guys it's actually really easy and I enjoy it but this system is definitely a breeze to drive and the Bronco overall is just super comfortable so we've taken you on the highway we've talked about the speakers in this car and how they're you know just fine how the materials are a little scratchy a little hard hey you don't have the biggest screen how you have single zone climate they don't have radar cruise control you don't have heated seats you don't have a heated steering wheel so why the heck would you buy a base Bronco why am I absolutely enamored with this freaking vehicle I love it so much and I think it's the trim level every Bronco owner should buy because what you get for your money is outrageous now previously on this channel I had a couple Ford Mavericks and that was one of the best bang for the bucks in the automotive industry you can get so much value in a Maverick XLT it's crazy and the same is true in this Bronco for 32 000 you're getting a wonderful eight inch screen with Apple carplay and Android auto you're getting a brilliantly vibrant nice screen here as well that is colorful and just clear right this is something that you wouldn't expect in a base model car you're getting a nice 2.3 liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine which moves this thing just fine this isn't a sports car you're not expecting crazy 0-60 these and the 2.3 liter turbo not only can you modify it but even in stock trim it does a great job at moving this car around in addition to all of that you can get a freaking manual and not only can you get a manual but you can get a manual worth having and that's a really big deal cars like the Genesis g70 when they were first introduced offered a manual to appeal to the Enthusiast I owned one of those cars put almost 20 000 miles on it but I gotta tell you that manual was an afterthought it was a manual to just say that they offered a manual they didn't put any engineering effort into it it was sloppy to use it was clunky it was gross but this is actually better if Hyundai had put this manual transmission in their Genesis g70 it would have been a massive hit but anyway I'm I don't mean to talk about a Genesis g70 for 10 minutes but it's true this is a manual worth having oh we're in a white let's talk about the Auto Stop start really quick so if you have that button turned off and you have the car clutch out in New natural the car's engine will turn off and when it turns back on is when you simply clutch in listen and bang it fires back on so if you think about the amount of time it takes for you to clutch in go to first release the clutch in a normal Manner and get going the car would have already fired up so it actually works really really well and it hasn't gotten the way of my day-to-day driving all right I'm gonna pull over up here and we're gonna close this video out thanks for taking the drive
