sequence and we're about to drop this on the field the first round good to have him back in competition and away we go the enforcer like he did in race number one like a scalded cat leads the field down into turn number one a lot of smoke then from casey's entry he bagged it up nicely off the line and russell engel he never used to start like that in a supercar so off the line he saw that in the first heat this morning and again in this one this afternoon straight off the line he now has that first event under his belt got a bit of a cipher if you like and expect that he will be in the mix later in this one when we see paul wheel and uh paul morris make their way through the field now most the drivers briefings that sst has it's all a bit let's just take it nice and easy for the first few laps russell ingle hasn't got the memo well he missed the drivers briefing he wasn't here and he flew in last night so yes he missed the memo oh one of them sideways off the into the grass that's huge and is that davies again was this casey it's casey i think returning it is in the 121. miss richardson didn't get a chance to repair the front of his road rage industries entry truck number 12 and shay davies who runs down in fifth position but down into turn number six russell engel leads in the boost mobile entry so take a look at a replay over the boost mobile ramp and what happened to casey here i just snapped sideways see those continental tires really flexing as it hit the ground same thing happened to show davies in the background as well so cold ties you actually see a bit of tyre shake that's when the tires are cold not up the pressure you can see that shape and uh big big moment in the middle of the back straight and plenty of runoff space down there for the field should they make a mistake there's casey at the back of the field here so engel will richardson morris casey and davies here is davies they've whacked another bonnet on the front of his number 88 machine and after that peeled away they'll repair that the queue coming from nathan caser who heads up the series this let's keep it straight let's dive too much damage you want to get to darwin and have these trucks ready to hit the big race track up there in june when we rock in for round number two [Music] just head down full wheel now running second sean richardson being one of the real form guys this weekend so the the three quick guys wheel richardson and morris starting to chase the enforcer down but i'd expect a lot more of a fight for russell really get down after the next competition so they've caught him and he'll know that too that there's no point trying to disappear and hurt the machinery this early on paul will wants to hustle towards the front so too to say davies he wants to go away with a strong result before the next round which is still a fair way away in june this year unless the racer inside him he knows that every single point in this series is going to count in season 20 21 12 points for the win we break it down in one point increments down to sixth position there's ingle that continues to lead the race will classic move down here forcing the issue a bit of bump and grind and the kmc will century will take the lead they'll go side by side across the first of two ramps and sean richardson having one of his best weekends to date in the boost mobile series russell looked like he just left the door half open at the hairpin and paul wheel shoved his foot in and jammed it open so now russell engel he wasn't happy with that he wants to wants a bit of paul wheels as we run down the back stroke through turn five breaking into two and six these trucks they move around so much in the braking just so soft in their suspension just so they've got good compliance over the jumps but that enables them you see they're hiking the inside wheel russell engel trying to get on the gas square the truck up for this ramp on the exit of the turn seven look at the davis effect haven't they the first three across the ramp they go to complete another lap so morris on the hustle he's up to third position in the whole 4x4 entry davies with the boost mobile and darwin super sprint delivery now for the final race they're using the infield section or the old pit area of simmons planes and that's casey heading out to the gravel just making sure the truck still feels at home he's used to running off-road he drops himself a long way down the field here in fact he'll be relying on the comp caution which should happen at the end of this lap down through the bow repairs hairpin so wheel then you got ingle and morris enforcer versus the dude as they go across the ramp and down this long but very fast sweeping back straight [Music] one of the fastest straights they have in super trucks we look at the replay here we just casey gets it just a little bit taily before the ramp and actually i think shows the right move because if you're not perfectly straight before you hit the ramp the truck takes off at an angle and it can end badly very narrow through that part of the circuit so ends up in the truck's natural habitat through the grass and gravel no harm no foul so the dude's got past russell engel that you ride in truck with right now this is the one that nash the flash was meant to drive this weekend sees logo sitting proudly on the dash here as the competition caution comes out for the first time if you're new to super truck racing this happens at all our rounds to compress the field just in case someone thinks about getting advantage they tighten them all up some great slow-mo shots isn't there and that's richardson with davies going through the first set of turns here at simmons planes really love the idea that they used the infield section through the idea about having a joker lap where you could actually use the traditional course we've thought maybe for 2022 when we come back yeah man i'm not sure that would end well though the speed differential through the traditional turn three and the and the two and three that stadium trucks use is massive so the trucks generally landing from that ramp that we see in the foreground there where the traditional two and three the trucks will be coming through so i like the joker lap idea though i reckon that would be stadium trucks has got that's got written that all over it look at this high flying action as they all danced through the air fed fantastic conditions and again davies for about the 27th time was coming down on the front wheels fourth truck in the shot there they do create a massive amount of social media attention wherever they go for some of the joker laps we had particularly over in the states we'd use the short course perhaps at road america but on the final lap we'd use the full course oh the downside to that was they never got to practice a lap there so you're going into the unknown that's cool and it was the same at sydney motorsport park a couple of years ago we used the short circuit there and on the final lap you got to use the full course so i do like to mix and match it up a bit here in boost mobile super trucks that's the first comp caution is about to be shelved into the history books and paul wheel will lead the field back with paul morris russell ingles say davies and sean richardson and code back to green flag racing here very very slow restart that one from paul will get the field nicely bunched up the strategy involved there might be thinking forward to the next competition caution where we only have a very short run for the second flag only two laps after the next competition but this one four to go poor wheel the dude paul morris this is early thousand supercar racing with those guys going at it just 24 hours ago he was pouring concrete on the gold coast oh let me no we need to see to make sure there's no mist russell would have been supervising concrete being caught there's no way he would have been pouring concrete himself i'm going to talk a story you're probably right all of a sudden he was on a plane and he was here last night he's had two runs with us in the past at sydney motorsport parking at the gold coast back in 2019 when we had nascar star greg biffle in the field who really loved his time with us in the super truck series as davies hustles richardson for another position back inside with the enforcer as he grabs the fun lever in third position technical term for brake lever yep that's the rear brake they use that rear brake the fun lever mat to turn these trucks quite a bit very very different technique and driving style than what we're used to from traditional circuit racing but that's what's so exciting and different about stadium trucks that they're very different richardson he's talked about you need to hit that round square he just almost too wheeled at robbie gotten style that's the point we've made yesterday during the first race if you get two wheels on there more times more often than not you'll end up on your side or on your roof [Music] without contact between davies and wheel this time with a bit of feeling at the exit of the bow repairs hairpin wheel grabs are for race and rejoins and now has a bit of work to do to chase the field but this is why the concourse competition caution works certainly one of our fast guys so far this weekend he'll catch back up under the next competition caution so wheels trying to go around the outside of morris here gets a little bit sideway dave he sees the opportunity he's hard on the gas they just bump wheels doesn't take much and uh sends paul wheel out to the outside outside we've seen a lot of interlocking with these wheels this weekend or they're a big wheel huh yeah they're so big and just bang wheel there just see and just see i actually grabbed the wheel out of show davey's hand and basically straightened him up and unfortunately four wheels there on the outside and ten seconds away from the field ahead headed by morris who's looking good to wrap up the overall for the weekend all these points counting towards the australian series bit of a love tap going down the long straight here towards turn number four eagle holding down second and again sean richardson the fastest in the field 113-5 is the quickest lap of the race i saw richardson and shay davies getting together there turn three those two got together a couple of times in v2 this morning this morning's event so uh no love lost between those two see richardson's truck sporting a big shark ride out of the front bonnet front guard area the reason it still looks like these they can't find the missing piece at the moment so air-conditioned comfort with his 600 horsepower ls chevrolet engine that they run in the entire field so morris will control this race from that next competition caution all gloves will be off i think one's off already that's right and the last one's not far off either matt tend to agree i think he's done that every lap so far this weekend from when practice rolled out to where we are right now and it still gets our attention every single time you just feel it you can't help it feel it when they come down it was davey's because boost mobile bonus out there now this is the enforcers in truck camera heading down towards turn number four three speed transmission and he's a lot more confident with this truck now earlier in the race he was breaking way too early for down here but now coming acclimatized with these boost mobile super trucks i think they're grabbing me from watching this on board it's just how little steering actual steering wheel input russell's using just these these trucks have such fast direct steering and then they're using the rear brake to turn the truck as well you're effectively not actually even turning the truck into the corner either the brakes doing it for you the very minimal steering input davies to the lead so davies takes the lead at a critical point in this final race he's looking good for second on the overall right now as he clears the kmc will ramp him down again he's short in size puts the hand out to indicate the comp caution is coming out that'll be radioed through from motorsport australia race control it's a one-way system for a very good reason yeah definitely do not need the drivers talking back to race control could you imagine russell engel back in the day having a two-way conversation with race control in supercars i think they'd just turn it off wouldn't they certainly would turn it off for sure here it is so davey's high in the sky and again coming down on the front you talked yesterday about putting some caster wheels baby on the front there more like a shopping trolley when it comes down it might have to be added to the davies boost mobile darwin super sprint entry and he'll lead the field around here with just two laps at the end of this while the comp caution comes out this is from the inside of turn two through the dogleg section near the dunlop bridge and loads to look at here while these six drivers call their jets before the final two laps of the race sean richardson in the road rage industries number 12. at the top of the field here's more happening down at the bow repairs hairpin so this is the story that saw davies into wheel and then wheel into the fence saw david reynolds go up two wheels over that fence a couple of years ago in the supercar it'd be a much more plush comfortable ride in one of these stadium trucks before that were to happen but uh poor wheel nowhere to go as you said matt had to chuck it in half a race back her out of there and then back in d for drag we saw that dave casey just pull it tight as paul was three point turning his way out of the fence so casey sits at the tail final segment of race number three the boost mobile super trucks once they clear the kmc wheels ramp will go back to racing davies will have a fair task on his hands in the whole back morris and engel and straight away richardson wants to buy into the argument in front of this huge crowd here today at simmons plains raceway has starved of motorsport last year and we're back in 2021 with a great crowd setting in on a magic day here in tasmania fantastic weather isn't it and i just got a got a feeling it's our last restart our last competition cautious behind us last race of the day the stadium guys the stadium truck guys they're not known for holding back when there's not much left to worry about so i would expect that this is going to get reasonably competitive for this run home for these final two laps telling them one thing to settle down and not bend the trucks is one thing but man will they listen no chance yesterday morning and trying to fight back from that uh incident at the half and a few laps to go see now shay davey's trying to go around the outside of paul morris they'll go side by side through turn six the trick here with show dave you see when he picks the throttle up and it picks up the inside throw you lose sight of paul morris you don't know where he is because you're effectively looking at the sky yeah oh wow that's the most spectacular one he's done this weekend it's enough to take the lead into turn number one so davey's landing awkwardly and still gets the lead i think he missed his breaking point his eyeballs were still shaking in his head from that landing still in the air the point of the ramp there in the exit of three who's avoided that check this out on the replay out the final turn so you thought morris had done enough here to take the lead davies coming down coming down and he's going to sleep very well tonight albeit with a neck about eight inches longer and then he's got it stopped down into the hairpin russell engel up the inside of sean richardson but now very tightly packed here for third fourth and fifth four-wheel trying to capitalise so morris looking good here still to take the weekend but he wants to take the overall victory as well in race number three right behind davies who parks it to the left-hand side inside with the dude davey's he was great straight out of the box in adelaide last year with very limited testing and that's now engel at turn number six he'll drop to the tail of this field and we'll probably have to settle for sixth position putting casey up into fifth on his debut run and what happened here oh richardson he was having quite the moment on the way into turn six trying to get up the inside of paul will couldn't get it stopped so richardson here you'll see him he goes oh he lost his bonnet before this started trying to get up the inside of paul will got that done but then couldn't get it stopped russell lingle right in his way got greedy didn't he one to two for the price of one and there it is the second bonnet to go missing for the weekend and into angle but i'm sure we'll have a couple of polite words to say i'm sure russ will be quite reflective when it comes to talking about that one we know that he's pretty calm character he's mellowed so much in his older years i'll just wind down that sarcasm meter a few notches there's will coming down hard off the kmc wheels ramp does everybody just shed some skins oh sure richardson's truck that's stirred me on the jenny craig died at the moment it's losing panels all the time paul morris up the inside here contact for show daves this is for the win so they'll go side by side morris trying to open up the opportunity here towards the ramp oh that's awesome that is insane and davies again gets it done into turn number one he loves that part of the track we know it's noticeable everybody's got special guests up on the platform here above the pits we don't know but certainly lands very spectacular no shortage commitment through there absolutely i thought that one that last night was for the for the race win but this is it this is our last lap so show davies he holds the upper hand down into the hairpin so moment of truth now as they come out the final turn and the turn four happen i should say the double ramp just ahead and from this point they'll be absolutely pinned all the way down to turn number six dudes in the toe he's gonna go to the outside so inside for turn five but that makes it the outside for turn six but he's got it done before he gets there and straight away protects any opportunity davies is gonna try that stunt on the outside again into the final set of turns in race number three morris is going to collect the overall yeah davies is not done they come towards the final ramp second flag is about to wave and give it to davies by truckling that was a thriller and that all started down here at turn number one on the previous lap and morris will pull up here he'll be happy he's collected the overall and just giving the wave across to shay davies margin just three tenths of a second and morris sitting the fastest lap of the weekend on the final lap quicker than qualifying on the last lap how good was that and to the response of this very hearty and vocal crowd here in tasmania oh boys don't give us a jamie wink up moment while you're celebrating throw it in the fence i can just imagine nathan right now going oh no we've got the race it we're good these two placing donut rings on their respective vehicles kaiser has done so much in the recent years with the support of robbie gordon who i'm sure is watching from the team base over in north carolina late saturday night over there davey's getting the win from morris richardson home for third place will casey and engel but the overall going to paul morris
