2021 Grand Design Imagine 2500RL- Finally!!!

welcome back to over the hill adventures my name is stan and i'm rhonda and so we have some exciting news for you guys today so we just bought a 2021 grand design imagine 2500 rl we just spent the last 1500 miles camping and rving and just to see how how good of the uh travel trailer it is but first of all we'd like to tell you a little bit about our adventure retired a little bit over the year and we decided to buy a travel trailer now the first travel trailer we bought was the jayco baja edition what was the name of that thing the j flight the the j5lx yeah baja edition and it was about what about 20 22 20 22 foot no slide no slide because i was so concerned because i was towing um the travel trailer with a 2016 silverado chevy truck which i wasn't sure about the weight and i was kind of really weird about it and we just wanted to get on the road we were ready we were anxious and and wanted to pack up our two dogs and ourselves and get out on the road and and just start exploring so here's what happened so we go out and we go camping and that was all great and well but we were always using the facility bathrooms in the rv parks and then coveted basically they had asked us to use our bathroom well once we did that and we were inside the whole time we then discovered that this it was a little small a little small i found out that the bathroom was really super small and it just wasn't comfortable yeah we couldn't pass in the kitchen without bumping into each other or tripping over a dog and it just wasn't set up for long term it was it was great to get us out there and make us realize that we just want more of it we want to go a little longer and a little further a little more comfortable and the whole the whole reason about the over the hill adventures is that we want to encourage people that are over the hill to get out and just do it and um we have chosen mountain biking to be part of that and so we take our trailer with our mountain bikes and and we just have a great time so here's what we did we ended up we had a like i said a 2020 jayco j flight baja edition we ended up selling it six months after we bought it and so the good news is is when we sold it we did not lose any really hardly any money at all we didn't realize that the really why because everybody and their brothers are rv right now so which kind of was a good thing for us because we could sell our used trailer but at the same time when we thought we were going to turn around and buy a new trailer and have it in hand and ready to go well that one didn't work out the way we planned because it was like august 2020 we sold the the jayco and started looking at what we really wanted started researching and we wanted to go check out the 2021 grand design imagine and different trailers and we couldn't find one on anybody's lot to go look at so so after researching everything online looking at youtube and looking at all the trailers it was an interesting way to go shopping for a travel trailer we looked at every video we possibly could we um we researched researched we looked at different options rear bathrooms rear living we really like the back windows where we could see out that was kind of a big thing for us but then we we still we had we were open-minded looked at every different option out there and we settled on the grand design imagine the rear living the 2500 rear living and what was so interesting about this it had a large bathroom we had a lot of room to move um and we were basically sold on that particular coach and that was going to be our mfa our means for adventure so um and we landed with uh blue dog rp here's a shout out and just just just to make sure we're not affiliated with blue dog we're not affiliated with with grand design um this is just our experience in how we came about buying um the imagine 2500 rl so we landed at a blue dog rv in uh las vegas here's a shout out into a salesman by the name of tony benedetto um this guy was thinking out of the box because we did the entire transaction through texting and here's here's because here's what's really really serious because of kovid and because of all the things that were happening around the state you couldn't find a travel trailer on a lot so we actually ordered our travel trailer august 25th and we took possession of it november 16th um we came out seeing it we hadn't seen it yet that's right we when we saw it i was 100 sold this was this was going to be perfect for us and here was what was really interesting is grand design while our our our travel trailer was in the making things were starting to change things that we didn't really thought we were going to get that we did get we got the new compass connect that all imagined trailers travel trailers come with now which is just a way that you can connect your cell phone with to the compass connect through bluetooth and it allows you puts it to turn on lights to turn on the water heater to put out your slide to put out your awning all these neat little things that you weren't able to do unless you were inside the coach and actually using the control panel so that was a real neat plus but what was really different is that they have changed the inside of the um uh 2500 rld imagine um to a new addition for mars yeah well we weren't sure what we were going to get a couple weeks before we we picked up our trailer we saw a video online that grand design put out and it's uh the same model the 2500 rl and they've changed the entertainment center area and we weren't sure what we were going to get i was in love with it when i saw it i thought oh because what they've done is extended the um the kitchen counter so you get all this counter space and a new window another window but they moved the tv up higher and i think that was one of the things we were looking forward to is having the tv kind of more eye level so our necks weren't you know broken but uh so we weren't sure what we were going to get we i actually got a hold of somebody at grand design they told us they started making these this new model on september 1st so we'd ordered on august 25th you know was there a delay were we going to get the new model we weren't sure so a lot of things were up in the air but we got we well you'll see what we got and we are in love with it 100 works for us perfectly fine we got the um the model we thought we were going to get with the entertainment center as it as it was but i think at this point anything but we got a few additions that we didn't know that were good that we didn't expect we got the um the tpms uh and it was not the whole system but it was uh tpms ready so you still have to buy a modular and you still have to buy the sensor for your uh for your tires and if you've been rving that you know that that's a must you need to always know what the tire pressures of your travel trailer is for safety reasons and blowouts and all that so that's really super important so that's our next our next buy for sure as soon as we know exactly what we need to we could still buy the whole system right now but i think they're coming out where we could just buy the modular and then the the valve stems sensors before you buy a trailer make sure you have all the information and make sure you call your local dealer who sell grand design on what they're doing new because they are doing new things innovative things constantly but however we have bought this and we love this trailer we have test uh drove it for 1500 miles with all that being said i guess uh look at the trailer you guys want to go see the trailer so and then that's what we're here for so let's go and do that all right here we are at the 2021 grand design imagine 2500 rl and so we're going to give you a quick overview we're not going to show you a bunch of stuff because you guys have seen the videos i'm sure if you're interested in this kind of a travel trailer you've probably seen a lot of it so basically it comes with the automatic jack um phenomenal that's just the way to to hook up travel trailers up and down get it all level perfect comes here with your 20 pound 220 pound propane tanks very important and then blue dog gives you two 12 volt batteries and and that's really outstanding because sometimes they just give you one battery now we have a lot of stuff here so i'm not going to be able to show you all of the um cargo bay but this cargo bay is massive and uh they're really good about doing that they've got the great uh lock switches the magnetics that hold up phenomenal i'm going to take this out but let me show you real quick where the where the uh the readiness of the um tpms so i'm going to turn on the light right here got right and if you can if so if i could show you that right there can you see that that's the um pre-wire for the tpms this is your your docking station where you put your cable your your water um you even have a water shower outside water shower your water comes in here you can actually fill your your fresh tank from here um your fresh water fill they also have another fresh water fill out here which also helps that you're going to even use it because you could just flip the switch and you can just fill up your tank you have another electricity port here and this is your your battery switch off that's really important because if you want to just um store your uh rv then you you turn that off um down here they've got the black water flush they've got a light here um so you can pull your tank what's interesting about this uh travel trailer it has 90 gallons of um gray water capacity phenomenal uh blacktop huge black tank i think it's 45 gallons don't quote me check out it check it out this is a must right here i upgraded a little bit uh and mind you this is only 30 30 bucks and basically so you don't have chocolate squirrel swirl coming out when you when you twist that cap open this is a little valve that keeps that from doing that and that's a must upgrade so you got a door to a door to the bedroom and then you have this humongous i personally i think it's the largest largest awning i've ever seen huge huge awning they have outside speakers and then they have the led led lights that go all the way um from one side of the awning to the bed i think the awning if if i'm not mistaken is 21 feet so grand design came up with these new steps these solid steps they are phenomenal now i kept on trying to find that information are these the ones that have the pin that you put the pin in and all no they're very very super light they come right up they have the adjustable and you can adjust them right here and they will adjust to even if you're on unlevel grounds but you can adjust it up and down you don't have to use the pin phenomenal super light rhonda is like you know five foot four petite and she can pick these things up no problem and they just snap right in like that boom and then when you're ready to use it now what i want to stress to you is make sure when you're using this stair that up or down that your door is totally open just like it is here because you don't want to catch an edge because that's exactly it and it's going to do some damage you don't want to do that let's put that down here see how easy that is these are like the sturdiest stairs it's just i just just love it anyway no one ever shows you where the control panel is but look how small this compass connect is and see like i said you can operate everything that you see here from your cell phone mind you it's through bluetooth so you're going to have to be just about uh you probably couldn't be any more than 100 feet from this from this particular device but it's easy to connect and if you want to see how it connects just go to the grand design website and they'll show you how to connect but anyway so i'm going to let rhonda tell you a little bit about the inside and how spacious it is hello well here we are and inside the trailer at my favorite place and so uh i guess we could start off behind us here now this is an upgrade and we added the sofa and it has the the seat holder or cup holders here and then this is a recliner it has heat and massage you know a couple different levels there but these are incredibly comfortable incredibly comfortable in fact i might just finish the rest of the tour right here no we'll get up but um this is not a sleeper sofa but i think these recline enough where people could actually sleep here if they wanted to um so we've got the dual recliners there and then the um this dinette they call it a u-shaped dinette but um i guess it could be it does have a ottoman and ottoman that can come out that's back here because it's hard to to show but we can show it it does come out i guess i've heard of you know in some of the other videos people would put it out here adds additional seating uh it's very very comfortable now this also breaks down into a bed um we had our six foot two son lay across it and i believe he would fit he's a little a little probably tad big couple inches but i think a six foot guy could sleep or you know on it comfortably and so here's the entertainment center um in so we've got this is what we are calling our pantry here and they have it's kind of nice because if you can show the floor babe they they do do it at an angle so you get more you get more uh room we've got our tv and that does come out it's on a swivel arm so what we would do is bring it out and then we would bring it and it it's great i mean i think that was one thing we weren't we weren't so sure about how good you could see the tv from yeah from where you were at and yeah i think it can even come out farther from yeah yeah and it was really perfect actually and there's plenty of foot room too i mean you're almost six feet and you can you can recline that chair and there's plenty of space right here for his legs and now i have to put it down in order if somebody wants to get out the door but that's not a problem so we'll put this guy back here then you have cabinets up here plenty of cabinet space here and so in the new one i guess the new model what they're doing as of september they've continued on the countertop here and i do think there's a little slant to it still a little angle to it but like i said we haven't seen it but they put the tv up higher they moved the breaker box i believe yeah and that's into the bedroom i guess according to their video and then so you do still have some space in there and then this oops let's move this here is where your stereo system and your bluetooth you got a little dvd player and more space here you know to put um just actually you can put your xbox and uh playstation in there play some games on the road there's that and then the kitchen has let's turn on the little light has the uh furion three burner three burner stove and that's in the little oven and i have to find pans that are big enough to or small enough to fit in there and then um show when you turn it on what's neat about it how it turns red when you turn it on because we haven't seen that is that going to work yeah is it on gas oh i guess i should open this so it's red when it's on so it's kind of cool it tells you yeah you know so you don't leave something on accidentally it's cool okay so uh there's a vent out there you just kind of do have to manually manually remember to to open that vent so that you can turn it on because we were camping a couple weeks ago we found out the hard way i forgot to turn it on and the fire alarm goes off and our little dog does not like that so microwave pretty basic um i'll open it just nothing too fancy but it's the cuteness you got space up here i'm not sure i haven't figured out what i'm putting up there but it's it's nice to have extra space with cabinets i did buy these little risers so you could you know we could utilize the space as best we could this side has i bought these at walmart they're just little plastic bins but they're great in coffee and then put our medicines in there we put our you know spices and things over there cups and they fit perfectly so things aren't sliding around it's got the um the farm sink i guess you'd call it and it's just the one big bin there one basin and then this is cool the spray nozzle and it does have this full stream or has the spray and comes comes with the cutting board and then you have a little space here which was kind of cool it's plastic back here so you could you could just soap or whatever in there you have two drawers pretty good size pretty deep you've got this drawer here you've got this drawer here i think it's kind of cool because you got the pegs that you it's a peg board down there and you put the pegs in and just kind of keeps things from jostling around in there pretty nice and then this guy here this is kind of keeping the the cutting boards in here and you can put your pans and whatnot in there so that's kind of cool um this another thing we kind of found out the hard way huge i pulled in we were hungry we were excited to see our grandkids and we were trying to set up kind of quick and we needed to move the trailer back a little bit so brought in the slide but we actually forgot to put this down and i brought it and brought it in and didn't notice i said i forgot to put it down and brought it in well it hits hits this right here thank god it didn't hit this because i think it would have caved that in which is what the guy told us so i had this vision when i realized i didn't put this down that it caved in this but fortunately there was no damage um but just a mental note you put this guy down before you travel and then we'll show you too what it looks like with the slide in and when we did pull in like stan says you can't really get to that you can't get to the bathroom from from this back area here but um if we popped it out just a little bit you know it was big enough to get in and out of the bathroom you know to the fridge to the bathroom which is kind of nice at a rest stop we could we could do that so did we show everything here wouldn't show the fridge the big fridge yeah this is the eight cubic foot right so this was really really nice plenty of space i think in an even older model or like six months even prior to this there was a dog door or a dog drawer down there so they decided to go with this the freezer we had to take we've taken this out because this is removable um and we had what a 25 pound turkey in there we had a 25 tonne that would have been fun to show you but we didn't real quick too let's show them this is kind of standard but these do open down here and you can put um drinks down here you know of course you can get to it from the top here you can remove these i think it's pretty standard and then you can lift the lift the wood and get get down there i i've been trying to find like a bin or something but it is an odd size um i think it's only 15 and 15 inches wide i think you know it would kind of be nice to have a bin to be able to pull that out which might be something nice for grand design to think maybe you could just roll something in and out um you know add something like that one more thing too these are uh reversible so you could have the you could have the plaid if you'd like and then this is the material so it's kind of more cozy those don't have the plaid on back but just the two uh back back pads there so um and then into the bathroom this is incredible so these kind of cool they have barn doors on either side so this is real heavy really good solid well maybe that's not all solid but part of it anyway and then a magnet here that is pretty pretty sturdy so if you come into here you've got a lot of little little places to put stuff so you got your your um cabinet up here this is our little soap dispenser and then i i had fun buying little things i watched like we heard part of the problem of waiting for your trailer is you want to buy everything in the meantime so i kept buying all these little gadgets and stuff so um but it was fun part of the fun so here you know room for a little trash can we keep some of our cleaning supplies down there plenty of room for that um and then they have cabinets here it's another thing too everything kind of hits the wall there but um space down there you have a porcelain potty do you want to do the uh squat test hold on i'm gonna okay here we go i will not lie but one of the reasons why we sold our trailer and i'm not i'm not really a big guy but i'm a little wide i guess but i could not fit in in the potty in in our old trailer so i'm gonna do the squat test for you so you can see how much room um you actually have beautiful i'm not going to put all my weight on it because it's it's i don't want to crack crack crack it yeah the lid is not porcelain the lid is not portioned so anyway gives you lots of room here uh for to negotiate whatever you need to negotiate and trust me this has really been a game changer for me makes me really super happy right tmi but it's it's a part of life it's one of those things so it didn't have a toilet paper well it came with the toilet paper holder but it was kind of like where are we going to put it it just didn't really have a place so we ended up just buying this little guy and it works great so um this shower is pretty incredible too it's pretty wide i think it's a 30 by 36 shower it's basically a residential shower you want to show them show me inside of this yeah let's do that i'm basically 5 11. but i've got plenty of room here when we're taking showers in here because it's it's so difficult about taking showers these days and they want you to use your own showers plenty of room great shower ground design uh basically upgraded their showers a little bit they look a little bit fancier a little bit nicer and you know everybody complains about i need more pressure all that kind of stuff totally happy with this shower uh did the job and uh was really really super happy with it and then we added just actually put it in today so one of those gadgets that we were excited about because we didn't have it uh when we went on our trip but we added this um to i'm hoping it's gonna stay we don't have anything in it like i said it's gotta settle first but um kind of neat because we you know you have all your shampoo conditioner and your your body wash and stuff right there hopefully uh that is nice that'll be nice to have not have all this stuff on the floor it's got these cubbies here this is pretty nice we didn't have this in the in the other trailer you didn't have any space to store stuff yeah your towel bar for your you know your towels then you've got these and they're like super deep i would say that's an arm's length deep i'm touching with the tip of my you know so that's an arm's length so you got these four for towels or whatever we just kind of used them for you know had my steamer had our my curling iron and blow dryer and then got our our um first aid kit all that kind of stuff so kind of cool all right and then um so that's that has a fan has a fan up there and yeah you know what this is this is some of the things that he didn't show um but it does have a fan fan in here and if we go back to the kitchen there's actually a fan in this one also um the one where they did not have a fan in is in the in the bedroom which is is fine for us but it's just another vent and then if it gets hot if you wanted to close those off with one of those thermal pillows you can do that okay so we've got we've got a we've got two well actually once again they're really really spacious little wardrobes on either side of the bed and we are got our raincoats in there ready to ready to roll again we've got the overhead bins uh this was great we just put our jeans up there and and sweats and things like that both sides these are kind of fun they've got you got the reading light and then you've got like a little i don't know led blue light there um just almost like a nightlight or whatever then this was what we were super excited about because i think uh even six months prior they didn't have this but these cubbies here are really neat and then they have um two electrical outlets there's two usb ports back there you want me to will it show anything and this is something oh i don't even know if i can get in there there we go and this is something that's new for 2021 yeah so it's got one on either side um you know you could put a drink there if you want um but it does have electrical outlets and it has your usb outlets out there so you can put your because i have hearing aids so i always have to have them plugged in and they that's perfect perfect spot for that well we have family member that has you know to use the cpap and i know that's a big you know people have that now you could put it back there you plug it in and leave it um this is very neat too two drawers this is awesome and this was plenty i mean we were gone for over a week this was plenty i mean usually a week's time a close at some point you're going to do laundry again so you don't want to bring too much but you have the two two drawers on both sides there's down on my side i don't think on your side but on my side there's another electrical outlet down there which was kind of nice to see um you can see that down there yep okay got it and then i think i have one also yep there's that one right there nice um tell them about what you did with the bed because what we did was so it is a sea a serta and then this we bought on amazon kind of didn't just did a little research it's a three inch um mattress topper and oh my gosh this thing is incredible i don't know we're kind of new to all this so we'll figure out we hear everybody say they could put a link or whatever but i will put a link and and this somehow tell you how to get that one because it's comfy and i was nervous because i have a lot of back issues scoliosis all that kind of stuff i wanted to be comfortable and that's another thing you want to leave and go for two or three days or two or three weeks you want to be gone on the road or full time or whatever um you want to be comfortable so this really was a game changer for us yes it was it felt like a baby yeah so um just for fun i i was worried about space uh little you know where you're gonna put your hats where are you gonna put i don't know i put a little box of my jewelry in here i got a pack of these for 10 bucks three pack and they are they're light we bought the the command strips and i keep my hat we had our beanies in these i had like i said my belts were in one and then just just ideas that we we saw from people um so they were kind of fun these were on amazon and then they came in the three pack and then over there stan has one on his side and he's able to and show him underneath the underneath the mattress because uh this is because we were trying to figure out it's light this is easy for me to lift we were trying to look at all that storage but we were trying to figure out what are we going to do with our shoes well i don't know what it's stuck on all right so that is what we used for our shoes yeah yeah we just threw our shoes in here because i've seen people with the bags down here and stuff but we didn't want to do that so this is shoes and then i don't know i just have this little guy that pops i think i got a dollar general or whatever and if it's so it's perfect under there and we just fill that guy up and then it's collapsible and then get excited about things but i just bought this because i wanted a vacuum like i said we are part i'm not even part-timers we're just recreational you know or we want to be gone on the road for a couple two three weeks but this little bissell and then it pops off the handle um you can use it a handheld tool you can use it as you know um you know full size so kind of neat little thing works really really good so i've got that fits if i can do it that's perfect in there so there's that uh basically i think that's just about it um yeah i did want to show one more thing that it didn't come with a towel ring and again amazon and so this is just a peel and stick comes with the 3m sticker double-sided on the back and i just stuck that guy up there and he is i think he's on there for good so that was one of our additions as well um but other than that i think that that does cover most of it so thank you so much for watching and god bless
