guys welcome back to my channel my name is sarah from teachers happy and i'm so excited to be finally bringing you my 2021 room reveal [Music] now there's a fair bit in this vlog because i asked you guys on instagram if i should do a really long video or if i should do two short ones and 60 of you voted really really long so that's why it does go for about 20 minutes and the room reveal is right at the end so i've got the pack up from 2020 um the setup from 2021 and a bunch of diys that you can do crafts some tried and tested ones that were a bit of a fail um so hopefully it will save you guys some money instead of you doing it um so make sure you stick around for the whole vlog and then the big reveal at the end now i'm only moving like two doors down so it's not very far away but i do have like quite a number of things up in the room that need to be taken down mostly just like organized into piles into different boxes all that kind of thing so i thought i would show you the kind of thing that i do to take down my classroom for the year and then hopefully we'll be able to re show you the new classroom setup [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] okay so this is my new room so far it's very green there's a lot of green going on um i got the kids to help me already set up so much so so much is already done um it's just me doing like fiddly bits now so i've got some time now to do that so my plan is to install these on the felt wall either using pins or some velcro tape they're not very heavy but i don't know if they're going to be just too heavy to hold but we'll just test it out trial and error that's literally every craft project i do trial and error yeah that's not gonna work so so far it's been two out of two for not working the shelves were too big and now ready [Music] oh no it's sticking now okay before it wasn't so if you touch it it falls down so i'm so glad i spent so much money this is why you don't spend all the money because now i have to reuse it somehow because i've taken it [Music] um [Music] hey guys welcome back for the first vlog of 2021 i'm in school i'm doing a bit of a setup day today while there's no one here to like distract me because i'm one of those people that's like please don't talk to me because i will spend two hours talking to you and get no work done um so yeah i just came in just to smash some stuff out just yeah i thought that would be a good idea so i've made a bunch of things in the holidays i just like was blitzing on my cricket because that's like how i love to spend my time just crafting so i'll show you a few things like that today and then i'm going to do a final reveal the first craft project i wanted to show you were these leather ledges now these are by no means my original idea i've seen a bunch of them on instagram and on pinterest but the way i made them was maybe a little bit different as i wanted them to be super light and easy to fit on my velcro wall i got bryce to help me cut up a piece of plywood from bunnings i think it was like eight dollars into four equal pieces and then we used some really heavy-duty velcro on the back of them once we'd sanded down the sides the really good thing is we didn't even have to put a slit in the wood as the letters kind of pressed up against the velcro behind the wood which you'll see in the start of this little video here those original shelves i bought were massive and just like such a waste of money but i do reuse one of them a little bit later and i returned the rest um i did think about making my own letters on my cricut but once i'd made the cardboard ones i realized how flimsy they were and that i'd have to laminate them to use them long term and i wasn't ready to commit to that because i hadn't even used it in my classroom yet so unless i do this for a really long time the lightbox letters are awesome for now so the second craft project i wanted to show you was my flip calendar i even made a little like mock one because i wanted to make it out of the cheapest and easiest materials seen a bunch online that used the magnetic curtain rod from amazon but i didn't really want to pay 40 dollars for something that wouldn't fit on my walls anyway so i wanted to make a little mini one i've even put it as a freebie up on tpt if you just write in australian flip calendar it's the first one to come up i made a real on my instagram as well about how to make it using craft owl beads hot glue gun and just some rings from i got mine from the two dollar shop but i think you can buy them from anywhere the third project i wanted to show you were my updated source bottles for independent learning or what to do next and i put them up for free on my tbt as well if you want to go and check them out they've already had a bunch of downloads which means the whole world to me i put them in three different colors so in the pastel set like i've used there's a browns and neutrals and then a black and white which you can print on any colored paper that matches your room or that you like all the walls i wanted to make really functional so i'm using this one for my literacy groups to write down what they're doing each week and then our wellbeing wall where they can slide their name next to how they're feeling for the day and they can move it throughout the day depending on how they're feeling and it just reminds me to check in with those that maybe aren't having such a good day um i also updated our gold plates wall with the heading work hard be kind have fun in the fun pastel colors i just used some velcro tape on the back of them and i actually made these letters on my cricut using the kmart pastel cardstock because everyone always asks me what ones i use and i always use that one it's nice and thick um you can choose to laminate it or not i know i'm going to have this for a really long time so i did laminate this one and i think it looks really sweet something else i updated were my literacy group book boxes these are magazine files from magazine parts magazine holders uh from kmart they were four dollars each and they're plastic and actually super sturdy and pink so fun so even if i don't use them in the classroom i'll 100 use them at home um i use my cricut to make these decals on the front and i got the decals from the design space and they're lots of little matching animals and they're super cute i put lots of pieces of vinyl on the same mat which i have never done but that totally works if you line it up as best as you can and then i waited them out to put them on the front of my book boxes with some transfer tape i love the way these turned out they were just like the perfect size um all the little animals were really cute and like great colors so i'm really happy with the final product the next project we're using these ikea plate holders as book holders i put a decal on the front that says we are currently reading so the kids can have a consistent dare book so they put it up there if they're currently reading it a bookmark labeling it so we know it's theirs and they continue with the same book for a long time the next project i had was this vinyl decal for my door it says 2s santi and i had one from last year as well and i didn't realize it was permanent vinyl so it got absolutely destroyed this one i'll be able to take off at the end of the year if i move classrooms very easily the next project was my classroom doorbell this can be used as a transition between rotating activities a pack up song a visitor doorbell a working noise level reminder or an attention grabber i just gave it a bit of a judge because it was our old doorbell and i just put a vinyl cover on the front because it had been so discolored from the sun we no longer use it and i wanted to use it for something so we're going to trial it out this year and see how we go something i was really excited about were these magnetic lined pieces of paper to show kind of what you're expecting of the kids unfortunately i don't have a magnet white board at the front of my classroom so i just put it on with some blue tack i also put up my height chart with that extra strong tough velcro and use that floating shelf that i'd already opened as a really cute bookshelf for what we're reading in class so the next job was getting our stationery all organized from what i had last year and seeing what was still good and useful these pencils were still fine i just pulled the flags off them for the individual kids i'm not sure if we're going to have to have individual stationery this year due to quarantining all the products and things so we'll just have to play that value for now i just sorted the pencils into these caddies i think some of these are from elizabeth richards some of them are from kmart came up once i had purchased myself and the elizabeth richards one the school had purchased make sure you ask your school before you buy resources for yourself because odds are they probably already got them or they're planning on buying them if there's something useful for the whole staff i'm just going to hang these off the side of the trolley and then have any refillables in the main trolley or anything that we don't need on our desk every day the outside area i put our cubbies up with some removable hooks i let them sit for the whole day before i put up the actual ones i've just kind of fast forwarded the clip a little bit to show you what the hanging cubbies look like the last thing that i created were new tray labels as mine were completely destroyed i asked the kids to take them off and all the lemonade just like came off and they were really disgusting i had had them for about four years so it was probably due time to make some new ones anyway and these are really great because they match the book covers for the kids so i can just say get out your pink book get out your purple book get out your yellow book and they know straight to go to that tub we also have things like clipboards and white boards and booklets and all sorts of things that i keep inside these trays and they're great because they double as a flexible seating option too one of my favorite walls in the classroom is our goal getters wall i put these borders around the side and everyone messaged them about i messaged me about them they are literally just a picture from google that i put up in a3 i don't know i wrote in like banana leaf design like about four years ago and in a3 i cut them into three pieces and then laminated them and stuck them up on my wall and i've used them for years i also made new gold plates because again our other ones were destroyed from the previous years i had them for about three years so it was again time for some new ones these are really great um to keep track of goals this year we decided to just go for literacy goals i found that the math goals were not the best when written on a poster note i felt like they weren't relevant as well changing topics so frequently whereas the english ones can kind of go for a long period of time or over a long extended topic one of my hacks is to lay them all out on the floor before you velcro them to the wall just to line them up however i did change up how i lined them up anyway but it is normally a really good hack because i forgot that they had all these um power plugs in the way which are really annoying so i just did my best to work around them okay so i wasn't gonna do this today but i thought i'll give you a run-through of my whole room i was gonna do this whole like extravagant room reveal thing but i kind of think i don't think i'm allowed to have anyone in here so i can't get anyone to come and film with me so shaky hand-held it is but yeah i want to give you my 2021 room reveal so obviously i don't go back to work for like another month but i probably won't come in again now so i thought i would quickly show you everything that's in here i'm sorry i'm a sweaty mess i've been working all day i'm just going to record this as a voiceover because i was so out of breath this whole video so it just sounded terrible we've got our mail outside as well as our cleaning products our sunscreen our hand sani and our microfiber towels for cleaning these are where we put our bags as well in these boxes i've got this super cute sign from good afternoon miss moon that she left for me from the previous year thank you so much um these are where we put our bags and to keep them super neat and tidy this is a floor desk outside and this opens up to the second classroom next to us um our caddies where i put notes newsletters anything that needs to go home i will make a sign for that at some point but i didn't get around to it before this day as you open up into our classroom we've got this vinyl decal and a really nice sign that says when you enter this classroom all these beautiful things you are the reason we are here so as we go inside it is actually a really big space i know that i'm very blessed ignore that mess on the floor sorry i don't know where to put my piano yet um here is our caddy with all of our important things the letter ledge and kind of just the front of my room i want to be a bit of a hub for everything that we need i've got some really nice quotes um that letter board will become our weekly overview sorry our termly overview with what's happening each week i've got our lap desk that i cricketed on the front of you can check out that video on my channel they look really fantastic i'm really excited to try them out um our promethean board and my very favorite sign this is our happy place i've got whiteboard markers and rubbers because i use the portable white boards all the time in my room um the kids pencils and then the sharpener nice and up the front at their level so they can sharpen their own pencil i am really keen to try the doorbell to see how we go so when you press it it plays a little song i'm just gonna not show you it because it's a really annoying sound to be honest i haven't picked the right one yet this is my chair for when i do our class novels or reading for just for pleasure for fun and this super cute sign i made from kmart and on my cricut you can find it in the kids craft section and up the top i put the ledge which has got some books on that we might read in the first week just some of my favorites and this pencil bunting everyone always asks me but it's from target america i bought it like four years ago this is the main whiteboard that we'll use and i can show them how i want them to lay out their book and things on this um magnetic piece i had to bluetack it on as you know from before i'll write up our learning intention now success criteria on here as well we've got our height chart so we can line up against it and see how much we've grown i thought maybe you could put some post-its on there at the start of the year and then the end of the year or something i don't know it could be really fun something i didn't show before was this breakout room i haven't decorated it yet because i'm not quite sure how i want to utilize it i think that i will have lots of vocab in this room or our vcop wall for our new arrival students that might not speak english very well just yet just having that really visual learning room where they can go to for writing i'm loving these i've used these in the past and they've been really successful with kids just kind of borrowing out a book from your class library and i'll try and keep that as neat as possible i've got these awesome cushions that i made using my cricut just they were just old cushions from my house and then i just put some fun decals on the front of them the kids love these to snuggle up to when they're reading their deer book and i'm going to try and incorporate deer a little bit more this year i haven't been the best with doing it with younger years i was great with you four and then you two they're still building their stamina so i want to be even better at um including dear time at school these are all about tray labels where we'll put our books eventually i'll see if i i don't remember at the end if i show you the book covers i'm pretty sure i do and then on this back wall we've got my favorite quote that says if you want the rainbow you got to put up with the rain that's also available for free off my tbt and our well-being wall which is probably my most used resource every day above that i have got our boggle which i've just made using washi tape and then i just write in the letters as we need them generally every week over on here i've got our gold plates wall so i've got a nice quote at the top because we couldn't really use the function of the top anyway this is nice and at their level they can pull off their gold plates it is not going to look this neat for very long because i want it to be super functional and that they um are being used every single day here's my flip calendar on the dow i think it turned out really well and the magnetic hooks are definitely strong enough to hold it up we'll have our watts on which is an overview of our day and i'll remember to be an independent learner which also goes with this mrs santi what do i do next i'm going to say check the board we've got our must do catch up a meiju so they'll have activities next to them our house points for the school our word wall which we're going to try a bit of a you try i try system this year i've got our literacy groups where we write the activities for each week or each fortnight and if on this one i'm going to put a roll of paper if it stays it might not to do a bit of a keep the quote now this is my section i've got this ladder bookshelf because i feel like it's really compact and doesn't take up too much space i've got all my colored pens post-its um quotes noise makers normally that has post-its in it these super cute ones from teach shadow i'm obsessed with and just everything that i'm gonna need my stamps um and then i've got my teacher toolbox which i'm in love with um i do think i want to change the labels at some point because some of them are getting a little bit ready and they don't actually match what's inside them and this is kind of my hub where i sit for most of the day as support especially when we're co-teaching at the boomerang desk a lot of the time i'm supporting our eald learners um just trying to make sure that the everything that we're doing is accessible for them and that's why i put the word wall behind it um so that we can focus on our vocab really strongly our seating options are really great we've got floor desks with these kneeling pads a lot of them got ripped in the previous year mine did as well the kids just seemed to bend them i'm not quite sure why we've got the nice white board set up next to that so it's super functional and you can actually move that around the room so when you're co-teaching you can move it to a different room or a different area thank you so much for watching this one make sure you like and subscribe and tap that
