as Tennessee and Auburn at classic SEC rivalry two of the original members of the conference are set to get reacquainted on the gridiron and there has been some outstanding players featured in this their head coach he still thinks they're in the national championship picture they got a win out but they do that one has to happen well the guy at the helm has to be better he has to play what a sense of urgency Jairus Didem is the guy for Oliver a lot of talks a bit about their offensive line yeah they're young they're running backs are young but he has two will his team you see the production from one year to the next he has to play better and he will do it today if he finds that run game but Jared said it was the key to all the success Tennessee wins the toss they defer so a burner will get the football first that kick will sail into the end zone and out to the 25 it will go and here comes an Auburn offense led by their quarterback Jared Stidham I'm Jared stone junior quarterback from Stephenville Texas today against Tennessee our offensive goal is to focus on our assignments individually and then collectively as a unit execute at the highest level possible and DJ that's been the theme and our meetings yesterday we talked to plenty of coaches a lot of players and each individual has to take responsibility to make this work yeah man to a man person to person these guys have to come out and play with that sense of urgency early first play don't come near side little sweet and they'll get the man to the freshman Anthony Schwartz the man they call flash and he'll pick up nine and quick yards and you see Alban going fast this is where they want to start it they can find a way to get into rhythm early it makes their office really go only 59 plays last week against Mississippi State in that loss but Tennessee's defense will stand up no gain on the play as boobie Whitlow it stops short of the line to gain so it'll be third down and short remember this Auburn offense has not run the ball well I think that's a story we are all familiar with less than 100 yards rushing and three consecutive games and it's a big down form the the last three games they have not been good on third down 12 of 43 on third down conversions big down for already start this Drive Whitlow comes back in motion alongside Stidham they'll hand it to Whitlow who will pick up three yards and the first down so that'll move the change and another thing that Albarn has to do is they have to for this offense to function get in that tempo that Gus Malzahn loves and that's what they want to live they want to live in the temple game going fast using their speed to an advantage catching their defense off-guard at times but you have to pick up big yards on first and second down to get that temple going inside zone has to work for but they'll try to attack the edges Shawn Chivers another freshman he'll pick up seven maybe eight when it's all said and done second and short and here you go right into the tempo here you pick up big yards on first down you can jump into this tempo you can use the rhythm and I think all these things will help Jared Stidham today if they continue to be this way Stidham coming near side just off the fingertips looking for Darius Slaton another shot that was there and it's if you watch the Mississippi State game on film from last week he had Darian Slayton wide open and that ball gave her a touchdown he misses Derrick's lady here and the rhythm just hasn't been there between him and Slayton his big play receiver those are the plays you have to hit last year Slayton averaged 22 yards to catch this year it's down to 14 on the ground Whitlow breaks a tackle across midfield there will be a first down a pickup of eight one of the concerns for Jeromy Pruitt was how well will his team tackle today yeah and that's been a big issue for them as well as getting guys off the field he talks about the knock back tackles for his defensive guys they haven't been able to do that would snap little stutter step into the hole Whitlow will pick up four more yards and as you watched attorneys Whitlow start to get into this ball game you can see him come along with the patients he's becoming more of a complete back understanding where the hole should be and she's hitting him with some intensity now and one thing they like about him is he always falls forward I stood up flushed out of the pocket as soon as he got the football gets it away just in time to whittle pick up three but boy they're talking about no time and that's been kind of the issue up front is the pressure up front you see Paul Bane getting the pressure up front of Judge Stidham but you love what you like about Jairus doing as far as his patience and not really panicking under the pressure of Maine got right past the redshirt freshman Nick Brahms at center making just his third career starts on third down will delay handoff to Whitlow when he'll have the first down at the 35 a pickup of 5 yards so in this Drive they have run at 7 times they have thrown it twice and Witt loves it he's been struggling with that shoulder the last couple weeks and he kind of went off to the sidelines they're favoring that shoulder something to watch as his game progresses cam Martin now in the backfield they'll fake it to Martin quick slant across the middle passes fought Seth Williams who they're trying to get more involved makes his first catch of the game yes Seth Williams is another big-time player they try to get to football to it we saw him on the first play Anthony Schwartz is it got anyone get the football too as well then again looking to throw going toward the end zone looking for Slaton in completes well this is the exact kind of drive Homer was hoping to have there in 11 plays 55 yards to start this game and date what I love most about this drive is they've had a couple third down situations where they've been able to run the football and that's been the real probably issue for this team offensively is being able to run the football and they're running pretty strong as a right now they'll reverse here come's Swartz has a this all the defense like so but he did a great job there verse down in 10 for Tennessee's offense averaging 26 points a game Darren tano will swing it out there goes Chandler trying to turn the man ROG Garret Otto stands in there underneath it goes to Jordan he'll be close to the first down they'll spot it right at the marker the Sean Davis chases him down a pickup of 19 and that's Tennessee using to match up to the advantage you got a fast guy Tim Jordan on a linebacker in the Sean Davis who is their leader in it but he does not match up well with Tim Jordan his space and does a great job of carrier Tonto just checking it down not trying to force the football down the field and you pick up a big big first down and it is just a big play for this offense needed a spark they got it and you can see what's happening here they'll run inside kick it outside run inside kick it outside there goes Jordan he'll have another first down and he'll be spotted at the 29 yard line Daniel Thomas pushes him out of bounds but 18 more yards big run here number 73 Trey Smith right on the edge does a great job of blocking Marlin Davidson and now he has an edge to run around the outside and a great job of blocking up front Trey Smith considered one of their top linemen and Tim Jordan has definitely been getting it done for Tennessee and been probably the most consistent guy offensively from Jeremy Poole Todd Chandler back in the game well we've seen plays of 18 19 18 on this Drive grown down at the 25-yard line Todd Chandler on that carry this is a Tennessee team coming off an off week you think about blowing through and off with you have time to prepare you have time to have a couple new wrinkles put in and this is a perfect drive for Tennessee besides the penalty to give this with confidence coming up two off weeks in some of the things they work on are actually working but one thing Auburn's been able to really count on even despite giving up some rush yards the nick Fitzgerald last week as this defense has been solid they still are among the best in the country statistically daran tano nowhere to go he'll be dropped at the 25 no gain on the play marlon davidson Tennessee team played Georgia pretty well they were only down 12 late in the third quarter and Georgia stepped on for a couple touchdowns a short kick bobbled and dropped oh boy boy the emotion on that side of the field right now Jeromy Pruitt talked about it post game yesterday loves his team's attitude you know these guys on this team have had a lot of negatives go toward them in a while for a long time and I'm proud of them the way they fought which means we're headed in the right direction and that excites me it's one we're getting a little bit emotional that was after the Georgia game and you could tell that he loved the way his guys fought and fought and fought with the number two ranked Bulldogs and they're bringing some of that fought here to jerk and hair Stadium a gain of three let's go down it on Dave I talked to some of the Tennessee players about the show of emotion from their coach they told me it really resonated with this team they knew how much sir Nutt coach cared about him on and off the field but they said to see that publicly that support of them it's in a vibe across the entire team and they called it inspiring they have hung in here today with ten have lost a yard on the play look at our first half stats and not much happening in the run game for Tennessee just uh the Tigers have clammed down after what was a disappointment in the run game last week but two turnovers by Jared Stidham has allowed Tennessee to put seven points on the board yeah that's the glaring stat for me is a veteran quarterback turning the football over multiple times tomber Tennessee gets seven points on the board but at the app you were still up they'll swing it out here to Chandler cuts it back to the middle of the field and he is chased down by Marlin Davidson for me one of the things that Jeromy Pruitt talked to us about his guys haven't been falling forward guys with the football they've been losing her yard or two and they could have fallen for a couple Tigers Malik Miller in the game and running back Chandler Cox off set and Davis comes in motion they will hand it to date cuts it back boy Tennessee was there to make a play for a loss of a yard or two and Davis turned it into a six yard game and that's been the real issue for the Tennessee defense is being in position get there and make the play and that's kind of what goes to it really stress was be there and then make the play trying to set up a little screen to the outside the Tennessee all over it's late made the catch but we'll lose three hours well there is something that Tennessee sees on these little wide receiver screens because they're swarming to the football it just doesn't look in an efficient play by all but in Tennessee they smell it out really quickly and they find a way to that football bring up a big third down here third and seven Stidham has time over the middle and almost intercepted off the deflection they were trying to hit Seth Williams but now the Auburn to Center out the middle going upfield and it's just a tough job here of going and getting up feeling him steady not does a great job getting into the eyesight of jr. gong' tano there Russell doing all that with a big old club on his right hand as well so now third down trying to set up a little screen to cheating's he's got some room out to the 25 and that will get him to first down hiccup bubbling lemon we've seen the difference we talked about Auburn Ehrlich side trying to run this tunnel screen and not being successful Tennessee has been really successful throwing the football inside to JaJuan Jennings on that tunnel screen he's made some big-time catches and even bigger on third down it has been a roller coaster ride for JaJuan Jennings but things seem to have settled down for the youngster who missed almost the entire 2017 season with an injury that was briefly kicked off the team when Jeremy pruer got the job they brought him back on and he has been an excellent teammate according to his head coach I'll hand it off to Jordan and he'll lose some more yards that is the eighth tackle behind the line of scrimmage for this defense they came in with 49 on the year among the best in the country they averaged over eight per game and Dave number 95 don't say B's Russell again getting the penetration forcing the bat force him to bounce a football outside when I looks like
