defense is not as good and overall the last two weeks they have not run the football well I expect in this game because they're playing such a red-hot quarterback in Aaron Rodgers to really come out with a lot of Carlos Hyde and try to help that defense out as much as possible the 49ers won the talk they defer to the second half so we will see Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay offense here right out of the gate it is warm it's hot down there on the field 84 degrees in that far side away from us just bakes in the sunshine and that's what the Green Bay Packers are facing your first time but the Packers have been inside this stadium for a game and it's a stadium they hope to return to in February the site of Super Bowl 50 time on Gummer e waiting for the kick glad you're with us here week four across the NFL as the Packers try to go to four and OH the 49ers try and even their record it to it too [Music] Aaron Rodgers has thrown 10 touchdown passes he has not thrown an interception this is a Green Bay offense that has given the ball away only one time they said at the opening it's just been fun to watch Troy Aaron Rodgers literally toy with defenses in the NFL with his cadence with what he's able to do with the last he's at the top of his game right now I had a chance to visit with him down on the field prior to the game and I and as I told him I said you know as someone who played the position and knows how hard it is to play at that problem it has been a real pleasure watching him not only all these years but these last three weeks play action to start the day out to his right is Rodgers down the sideline Montgomery and you can't throw the ball better on the run on the moved and Aaron Rodgers and with a flick of the wrist gets it down the sideline great throw no catch it sure was a play-action on the very first play and they're able to get Aaron Rodgers out on the edge he's got a clean look and you've got time Montgomery one on one and Aaron Rodgers drops it in beautifully here to open up this game just not able to follow down backers and without Davante Adams you guys are ready ankle sprain I did so more pressure on Montgomery had a touchdown Vincent shoots his lacy and he's ripped to the ground by Aaron Lynch a lawsuit to third down at 12 coming up see Eddie Lacy came starts on the outside a lot of Cobb and Jones and third straight start for Doc Barkley now at right tackle for the injured Brian Bulaga we go where you go extra men on the rush Rogers swallowed up penalty flag comes in late out of the secondary and the packers indicate and it's pass interference he sets the early indication against the 49ers illegal contact defense number 57 five yard penalty automatic first down that's Michael willhoite fourth-year player with a contact you see Randall Cobb they're trying to redirect them beyond five yards and you push him to get him off his mark and they get the call and that was some inside pressure there by the 49ers you don't see that align with this Green Bay Packer offense I didn't tear your offensive line is really good they got the bullish but a very costly penalty so a fresh set of downs and Rodgers a kid out to his right nowhere to go throws it away in the direction of anyways this is a defense that's coordinated by Eric Mangini and here's the coverage on that last play I spent good coverage overall here to start this game in a defense that has given up a lot of passing yards and you know they know what they're up against here with the Green Bay Packers even - you know some key players and some real threats in that passing game number 12 makes up for a lot of it but in the early going they've been able to latch onto these receivers Grilli nope on second down here Stark's out of the backfield with a block or two in public knock down short of the first down he picks up eight tomorrow moment we missed all of last year coming off that torn ACL awful injury we witnessed in Seattle at the end of the year and a champion to season back and trying to make sure he stays healthy now 32 witty rogers has calm first down over the middle and Randall Cobb gets popped by Acker and he got to the 42 a gain of ten on third and two these are some of the things that Aaron Rodgers does so well he wants to throw the quick out to his left he sees the defender jump it and he just knows immediately then he's got Randall Cobb in the slide and because he's looking that way it gets people moving in the other direction and frees up some open windows for that throw an excellent job iron rod last object Jones wrestled out-of-bounds my hair agreed a gain of five this is obviously a defense it's not only missing a lot of key players come to know in these games in this rivalry with Green Bay now they're slowing down the Packers here the 49ers they substituted and Aaron Rodgers has been great at seen when a defense is trying to stitute get the ball snap he wanted to look like the official was trying to hold things up just a little bit but clearly this is the Packers offense that has picked up their pace this year and the things that they're doing at the line scrimmage and off the starks he's got a first down and now a good opening drive being put together by the Green Bay Packers against this defense you see some familiar names but gone Patrick Willis gone as Chris Borland gone as Justin Smith gone as Alden Smith in the former defensive line coach now in his first year as head coach Jim Tomsula talked about the importance of his defensive line getting in the face of Aaron Rodgers that first line of defense trying to run even figure out a way to slow him down funny on first down quick throw Pascoe Rogers the tight end first down again near the 35 a gain of 12 but they on the tackle for San Francisco the inactives Demonte atoms and that may be a more serious injury than we're all aware of have added another receiver and Jared Abbrederis Malaga's out Burnett out Vernon Davis inactive for San Francisco I was lacy out wide to the right ready go lady gets it left side he's also battling a compromised ankle he takes it to the 35 you starting to think back to that holding on Michael willhoite it allowed this drive to continue on that legal contact downfield and Aaron Rodgers the Packers know how to take advantage of another chance well they sure do I mean when you give them more opportunities that you're able to make a stop and Mayberry constantly penalty to keep this drive alive I like what the Packers are doing though mixing it up 10th play this drive on second down pass caught by Cobb out of bounds at the 11:00 with another first down for Green Bay Randall Cobb is just an exceptional player for this Packers offense he's here in the slide you see the release that he gets up the field and they turn him loose and gives Aaron Rodgers is to create target down the middle of the field normally lies all the things that Randall Cobb can do they line him up wide he's great in the slide sometimes heck they even put him in the backfield but he is a matchup nightmare for the offense and a big reception there on that last play where he go is lacy we won't play by San Francisco up front again a to Eric Reid on the tackle read some numbers are fantastic the first quarter numbers are fantastic for the Green Bay Packers so far this year on scoring the opposition 31 to 6 and that's what the careers bit like number 12 inside the red zone I'm gonna date whether you go protecting [Music] don't touch down Richard Rogers you give the Packers a second chance which a penalty did and they know how to cash in well the 49ers are able to get a push in the middle that force Aaron Rodgers then to get outside the pocket but he navigates the rush so well and as he's doing it he's keeping his eyes down the field looking for a guy to free himself up in the second area it's just an outstanding job of working the pocket by Aaron Rodgers and allowing his receivers to get open for him and I mean with press or even on the play the Rodgers can buy time he's just no way a secondary is going to hold up to them don't play try covering 80 yards just under six minutes off the clock here's the penalty that extended it Michael willhoite and then Aaron Rodgers touchdown pass number 11 Richard Rogers on the reception's 7up ik Packard well my friend it caught my attention the other day when you said the quarterback game that Aaron Rodgers is playing is not the one that I'm familiar yeah well they're not many of it are I mean it's been it really is something I mean he's as hot a quarterback right now as I can ever recall seeing the ball placement and his vision of the field is love the best take a break come back then it's the 49ers turn he's been doing this a lot Jim Tomsula has been doing that a lot talk to willhoite huge penalty Packers have another chance [Music] there is plenty of room right now on the Colin Kaepernick bandwagon if you're interested it was packed two years ago but people have been bailing on him he's got a lot to prove here today coming off a four bit game this is what he can do better than anybody in the NFL at the position pull it down and run and he gets 12 we go down to Erin Andrews and Joe he admitted to me after his game against Arizona it's been a tough week and despite what people are saying outside the organization he said it would do me no good to lose it I have to stay even keel his offensive coordinator Jeep Chris told me what they have to do is get him plays early that give him confidence Joe we should have confidence against Green Bay read on his career as a starter in big numbers looked outside then came back inside to Antwon Bolden second intent yeah I've had weeks like that Joe all quarterbacks have if you play enough in this league to throw four interceptions two of them the first two returned for touchdowns and it's a tough lonely week following those types of performances when everyone in that locker room knows that you put your period a huge deficit so he couldn't wait to get out here on the field day Carlos Hyde he gets away from one tackle what a good run by number 28 after pushing away BJ Raji he turns a loss into an eight-yard game and Raj he may have gotten away with a facemask Carlos Hyde as you're going to see got Raji who gets up right up the field he's having a terrific start to this season but Carlos Hyde is is one of the bright spots here in the early going for the 49ers he's a tough runner but like last week just too much penetration of positive yardage on the play this will be a first down by penalty BJ ROG false start offense number seven five-yard doing the 49ers are reacting so the crowd because you could see BJ Raj he almost apologized and Jim Tomsula is going to get an explanation meteor on came across and then almost said my bad and this crowd and Tomsula can't believe it instead of a first down I just think they got that wrong I think they got it wrong too you can see a little bit from Kaepernick that he did you know move the shoulders but you know all quarterbacks do that when they're inflecting on the hard count offensive line couldn't believe it now third down and seven passes getting short of a first down and his mica height drags him to the grass it's a punt coming from the 49ers I guess words at some point revisiting that non-call against Vijay Raji you may have gotten away with one well right now Joe clearly the last two weeks the 49ers have gotten behind the Packers start this game with the ball they go down to get seven points and all of a sudden Bill offensively some pressure to try to match that a bad call by the official backs you up force of the punt the ball back to Aaron Rodgers pinion hits a good one stay away and this will tap out around the 15 first it was Raji who didn't get called for a facemask Tomsula thought the penalty went the wrong way Packers having to seven-point lead great city here in the United States San Francisco and south of San Francisco is Santa Clara to the site of Super Bowl 50 backers are off to the kind of start where they can start dreaming about something like that even though they won't admit if they look unbeatable right now they're up seven to nothing and they have the ball right back we'll revisit that call against Kaepernick not against Raji pretty that would look like an offside table starts his play behind their own ego [Applause] drummer and they're going demon to the playbook already as Montgomery will get nine back to that call I think it was a bad call that anytime you use a hard count you're using is going to going to be some shoulder movement and you don't normally get that call against you as a quarterback and it really hurt them on that drive and now defensively for the 49ers already down one score a lot of pressure on this group to not get behind the way this the way this 49er team has the last two weeks really where did he go on second and one just keeps it picks up the first down and we'll slide near the 35 greaser will get credit who with a stomp a gain of 12 another first down for the Green Bay Packers who are battling the injury bug here on both sides of the ball but you wouldn't know it by the production no and you know I say it all the time when I'm asked about the Packers and you know Aaron Rodgers makes up for a lot of deficiencies within a football team but you know eventually to keep losing guys you know no matter how good you are at that position it's hard to overcome but it's been remarkable watching this offense work with the guys who have not played it even as you mentioned guys Lydia T nicely were playing we're pretty banged up time I've taken Rodgers as his palms up looking over at the sideline we'll have an update coming up winning the last format including two postseason games in two season openers right now it's Green Bay on top seven nothing here is calm we've started to play in the backfield and Cobb on first down picks up six now because they move him around so much it's just hard for a defense then to zero in on exactly where he's going to be and I think when he gets into the backfield and the slot positions those are the areas that he couldn't leave hurt hurt a defensive Aaron GD is a defensive coordinator trying to corral him as best he can not an easy task now ty Montgomery's back there with Rogers really he gets it on a toss running left good way by the San Francisco defenses reser came up the corner to make the stop and it'll be third down at for time montgomery played in palo alto at stanford third round pick he is a thick leg receiver and then handed it tossed it to him a couple of times already Rogers is hit on seven straight after starting on for two whether you go the course and I'm moving but on the putters offensive line offense number 75 yard penalty down there's two real good guards TJ lang guilty on the false start TJ laying now they've been looking at a third and no longer down in distance just enough as you see they get hit move and they get the call you don't see that a lot I mean we've talked a lot about what Aaron Rodgers has been able to do with the hard count through the first three weeks or something they work on a lot in practice that's why they're so affected with it it's time they get their own guy they're down in nine really nope where did he go Rogers out to his right nowhere to go except down brought down by Armstead the wookie a gain of three but fourth down coming up for Green Bay well good coverage by the 49ers and then they're able to get pressure and force Aaron Rodgers out and as I said once he gets outside the pocket he's looking to throw it makes it really tough on these defensive backs they do a good job Aaron thought maybe he could come underneath that tackle and pick up more yards for the first down but Biggs a hit instead [Applause] flag down is beauty Jarryd Hayne is back become a fan favorite here for the 49ers a rugby defending the guys on defense with them some of them claim Matthews who can rush from the inside from the outside Julius Peppers we told you in week one's been drinking out of the fountain of youth after a big first year last year with Green Bay looks good again EJ Raji is back and that guy out at the end Mike Daniels really has played well for the Packers well they've got a lot of guys who have played well that came on Monday night against Kansas City they played very well defense that Burnett gets away from Matthews crows hi Vance McDonald Kaepernick did all he could and Vance McDonald could not make the catch it's a problem that he dealt with in college and he has a drop here it would have been a big emotional first down for them clay matthews has a free run on Kaepernick you expect him to be able to get him to the ground he does not and that's McDonald has had struggles now through his first three seasons here with the 49ers attached to the football consistently [Applause] once again Kaepernick not clothes for Torrey Smith down the sideline and after that drop by Vance McDonald its fourth down now after this incompletion from Kaepernick here's the drop by McDonald he's got a chance to make a play and help his quarterback out and just unable to make it so a lot of concentration on Colin Kaepernick and what he's doing and what he's not doing it you know it takes this entire team and just not enough guys in general or playing at the level that they have to to be consistent on either side of the ball [Applause] nudists drives it straight out about [Applause] it's not a good point just 21 yards they miss Andy Lee here also a former all-pro punter with the 49ers and I would say this there have been opportunities already for San Francisco the defense I think the coverage has been pretty good for the 49ers on these on these packer receivers yeah it has been good I mean the opening drive the Packers go down and come away with the touchdown but other than that they've hung in there pretty good not it's not easy to do I mean your offense has to help out your defense and when you're asking this 49er defense it's giving up a lot of yardage through the air in the last couple of weeks to hold up against Aaron Rodgers and it's just not likely to happen for 60 minutes and right now the Packers start this possession without standing here where do you go is Laci and with that approaching the end of the first quarter Aaron Rodgers wants to hurry up and get one more play away [Applause] that's the end of the first corner now San Francisco 49ers have been outscored 29 to nothing in the first quarter this season one smile at one's frustrated Rogers in Kaepernick 7-nothing back after this from your local Fox station [Music] together Eric piers is now in right tackle there was consideration at one time about maybe moving Alex Boone out to tackle but he's playing left or for Kapernick in trouble reaching for the first down and he is short it'll be fourth down as deep-toned Jones made the stop for Green Bay play man he's just like he has been throughout his entire careers being disruptive again you see the grab in the middle which doesn't allow the 49ers to handle the action upfront that frees Matthews right up to Center and then keep caught a predict for picking up the first down and that's a down that the 49ers you watch him run I know last week so many times with the ball in his hands he as soon as he got the hand off he had pressure right in his face and he's had a lot of those same looks here in this Kaepernick just doesn't feel it at all he had a little bit of room and try to step up you don't see Joe Staley get beat like that very often but an excellent job by Nick Perry being able to beat him number 91 well the protection was good enough there for Kaepernick to be able to get the ball out of his hands he looked like he was working Anquan Boldin didn't like the look he had someone in front of him where he could have gotten out and picked up some yardage but instead another big play by this Packer defense second sack for Elliott and a sack and a forced fumble late all over Seattle weeks they're down in gold underneath pass car and then drop to catch an autumnal who got on top it's Vance McDonald again they're calling it a catch and a fumble 49ers will keep it mcdonald suffered a big hit after hauling that one in at or down it's the new linebacker Joe Thomas who was just at it off the Dallas Cowboy his practice squad he has spent two training camps with Green Bay they brought him left-handed unless I saw it wrong he did unbelievable that he's even able to get the ball out of his hands and not take the sack and this offensive line has really been good you know in the early going of this season and they protected Aaron Rodgers well and he's good at getting the ball out but this game and 49ers have done an excellent job of pressuring him he is in trouble again and now just throwing it away and he was under heavy pressure and a flag comes in at the end and it was just thrown it was Lynch you had pressure on Aaron Rodgers early indication against Green Bay [Applause] Taron McCauley looking at Jim Tomsula to see if he wants to accept the hold or just take the bullying offense number 82 second down the back up up and give aaron rodgers another down not always the easy decision when it's a guy like Aaron Rodgers yeah you back them up a little bit but then you give them an extra down to try to get that first out I guarantee you there's not a Packer fan upset but the 49ers accept the death penalty yeah and yet I think Jim Tomsula he sees how well this defense is playing right now the pressure that they're able to get on Rogers and likes his chances second and 17 his job Pass caught could move first down and more Jones to the sideline and out of bounds at the 15 and they could just get yards in chunks that one good for 36 well Aaron Rodgers he recognizes the coverage they dropped the safety down he knows he's got the middle of the field and James jump one on one an excellent job of just moving some defenders and creating nice lane for him to throw the points when they got first and goal from the five after the big sack but the defense is held up and you know for an offense with Green Bay Packers that are custody and with so much success I know that though the frustrating half for Aaron Rodgers Kaepernick and company will start at the 20 with that here's Erin Andrews what you learn at the half Erin trying to make sense of all this I asked Mike McCarthy apparent Rodgers was frustrated about the hits about the sack and he said no it's just playing on the road now asking Jun Tunsil about how his team played and how the defense got to Aaron mean you're gonna run a three-four scheme it's all about the linebackers but if those three battles can get pressure and be able to penetrate in the backfield you've got something really good going at halftime it is hot on the far side of his field and the seats the Green Bay sidelines of the fans over there there are a lot of empty seats right now at the moment but that was not very inspiring on 3rd 11:00 a lot more empty seats they keep calling those plays on third and long I run a read ops and he just handed off the bush and I'm not sure what the logic was [Applause] not a great punt by Dominion on the move its hide who's out to the 39 brought down by the war mr. 37-yard punt Packers have it first time second half up for those of the Santa Clara Lions playing Pop Warner football the 49ers have fully under it the league's expenses for football and cheerleading this year great new home for the 49ers II by Stadium adjacent to the practice a story in the first half was the 49ers defense holding Green Bay to seven points and ending the half with six straight third down stops it really played well Eric Mangini has had his group ready she's done a really nice job of mixing things up he's been able to plaster these receivers I know Erin Andrews talked about Mike McCarthy saying hey we're playing on the road and I know Aaron Rodgers said hey we play two good defenses now we face we're on the road we see how we handle it Rodgers has to spin out of there a flag looks like a hold and Rodgers is forced out of bounds calling through it and it's a hold against Green Bay holding offense number 69 second down bakhtiari you'll see the hole you see the coverage down the field by the 49ers they've just been very good they've been on them pretty tight and then they've been able to get enough pressure as you see the hole there by David Bakhtiari the left tackle as Rodgers escapes the pocket trying to buy some time but that's been pretty constant throughout this game the coverage by the secondary and Rogers not being able to at the ball at as quickly as he typically does and then allowing some of this pressure to get to him Oh low go low [Applause] backers had six first downs on their opening group of four cents base was second and 17 underneath its Rogers the tight end Richard Rogers upended by Kenneth hacker third down and long coming up 39 the packers hurry it up and they catch San Francisco with extra players in the 49ers have to call a timeout they don't get the free supply now but they do for San Francisco into the timeout yeah you're gonna see as they try to substitute Jim Tomsula he was there he calls the timeout [Music] there's he into the previous play and now watch if the Packers get up to the line 49ers trying to substitute and it was Tomsula who was the man on the spot to call the timeout yeah he was not I'm pleased with what was going on there but wisely is able to get a timeout to keep Aaron Rodgers from getting them with too many men on the field which he's done many times already 11 times 2 of his 10 touchdown passes coming in coming on free plays and he is right in the face Tomsula is again on Michael willhoite third down and nine [Music] Flitz Rogers throws has it is caught by Jones for a first down [Applause] you can blitz Aaron Rodgers but you do it it's your own risk there isn't anybody better at beating the Blitz than Aaron Rodgers watch Cobb go in the middle of the field the safeties expected him to pull up right at the chains to pick up the first down Rodgers checks it initially but knew where he wanted to go with the football one on one to James Jones and get the first down but how do you pump them they're a little bit longer when Randall Cobb was wide open down the middle of the field and marker as Troy circles have called a timeout because players were late in getting off and that's what you have to prepare for now against Aaron Rodgers every week yeah and that's been the biggest difference Aaron Rodgers says is it because they're not substituting as much the offense they're able to get to the line he's able to see all this and he sees the defense substituting trying to get the ball snapped as you said have a free play he makes it awfully tough to do what they're trying to do with a cannon and run good for four we go to curtain McGee bring down 13 nothing at Denver on Kenneth Becker I would say I had to see it to believe it Joe from here I wasn't sure he got his feet in but he certainly did one on one down the field with Acker that's an outstanding job by James defense no question I mean not only he gets first down but he gets the big play which sets up points and just a perfectly thrown pass Rodgers has pressure in his face he his arm strength right there that he's able to not be able to get much body into it but he's able to get it out there where he need it to and for James Jones to control his body and make this catch with his feet in bounds that's impressive 38 yards on 37 Pender's don't have their sideline catch master and Jordy Nelson they got James Jones back where do you go after being cut loose by the Giants Rogers in trouble throws it away for suit like Glenn Dorsey ii of gold I mean we possibly seen Aaron Rodgers throughout this game just having to get outside the pocket and buy some time and yet the 49ers for the most part they've been able to hold up and get on a receiver crowd climbs back in it on second and goal on the ball at the 18th Rogers dancing around out to his right a lot of room in front of him and he will go down the sideline tonight at the one his foot hitting the line the side judge was right there and made the call that's where he won out and now third goal this is where he's so tough nowhere to go with the football because there's so much field in front of them and his ability to run and yet he makes this then they've obviously a very manageable third and goal but excellent job by Rodgers just being protective of the football getting what he could we got 17 season long run for Rogers third goal and they have to use a timeout Blake lock-ins and one Aaron Rodgers looks a bit gassed after that take off and scamper from Chico California little over 200 miles north and a little east of here did not get looked at by Division one programs coming out of high school despite big numbers but he just wasn't a big guy he went to junior college and then ended up at Cal you know the story from there he didn't get drafted by the 49ers who had the first pick that year instead it was Alex Smith and we've just seen Aaron Rodgers get progressively better with every year and now there are times where he literally looks unstoppable well he just as a real student of the game and is prepared as any quarterback in the league when he goes in he knows exactly what to expect what the tendencies are of these defenses and you have to be able to do that it's one thing to talk about a guy with talent but if you're going to be playing at the level that Aaron Rodgers plays that you've got to put in a lot of time during the week and he certainly does question is was Aaron Rodgers out of breath and tired or hurt on that 17 yard run to be ok coming to the line on third goal a hand if the cone for the touchdown and his first carry of the year is good for a touchdown and a fight breaks out Kenard Backman a rookie tight end who has acted this week with the injury to Andrew Corliss was in the middle of it with John a two-time Pro Bowler is a tremendous special teams player it's Green Bay's second touchdown run of the season on his first carry well it's just one-on-one with John and then the linebacker Michael willhoite it's one-on-one willhoite son blocked and who's going to prevail and John does and he gets it across the goal line for the touchdown nifty little inside handoff from Aaron Rodgers the eyes went to lacy the football went to John John took it in celebration with his quarterback 14 to 3 game back on top [Music] John clapping his hands and showing his appreciation for the guys up front some talk that he might not make the team coming out of camp but he did with one better loosen it up here offensively because with no threat down the field Green Bay is just able to line up and come get number 28 well they've just not had any running legs this defensive front for the Packers is bent good hide his it's been tough every time he's had the ball and this run defense is misleading when you look at their stats and say well they ranked last they're giving up five yards of carry last few weeks teams have had a hard time running the football game Garrett Selleck is good for five third down coming up on that opener against Chicago Matt Forte he had a big afternoon 160 yards rushing and you look at Seattle and you got to stop Marshawn Lynch which is what they were able to do most of their yards came from Russell Wilson and then last week of course with Kansas City and Jamaal Charles this this run defense has been getting it done and they have again here in this ballgame and that's what the 49ers want to hang their hat on but right now if the score like you said they're Kaepernick's going to have to eventually open up users on it started to let it go and pulled it down a sack a loss of eight trying to get it to Bruce Miller and a sack is the result another misfire by this San Francisco offense well there's Clay Matthews right in the middle of the offense and he just shoots the gap and they're not able to slow him down here's a straight line shot to Colin Kaepernick with no opportunity whatsoever as offensive line you got to secure the gaps inside you can't give three rushing links you know on your quarterback very good job by that 49er offensive line there's a we sit a couple poorly who sit a couple big ones this one just 29 yards by the rookie Bradley pinion may miss Andy Lee around here with this offense in San Francisco and of course Colin Kaepernick I asked magic Johnson because earlier in the week Green Bay backup quarterback Scott tolsey head said watching her and is like watching Michael Jordan and I said what do you think of that and magic said well I've always looked at Aaron Rodgers like Larry Bird he just makes everyone around him so much better but he said if you are being compared to Michael Jordan and Larry Bird your life is a-ok right now good comparison nobody knew Larry Bird better than magic here's John why not just get him rolling now and grow to heaven out of the back feel good for eight Francisco defense which has been pretty good all day long better come up with a stop here this thing could get ugly fast I mean right now even with the score at 14 to 3 is still plenty of time of course for the 49ers but with their ability really not to be able to get much going the only real running game they've had has been Colin Kaepernick but they're doing he get back into that passive mode that has hurt him so much the last couple weeks Rogers side steps pressure finds Richard Rodgers and he almost brought Michael willhoite to the sideline with him almost went through him good for seven let's go to Curt with the game break how about the st. admired the way that he is playing especially with all the injuries that this team has had not just this year but in other years as well he becomes a very valuable guy who saw him catch the ball coming out of the backfield but he can do a lot of things surely years ago heck he was the featured back because of injuries there's a Plex lacy breaking tackles first down inside the 20 and knock down at the 16-yard line by Antoine Bethea a carry of 12 yards [Applause] well the 49ers are able to get right there they got dial who's got a chance but you're just not going to get lacy to the ground with an arm tackle like that but some tough running inside a good job by the offensive line John leading the way we're starting to get some yards now out of this running game [Applause] over in and [Applause] bouncing it good flame made out there too many Lacey talked about you know the ankle injury that he has not like the one he had previously that he missed games with and last week you know he was limited somewhat and that went over the Kansas City Chiefs he carried the ball ten times but he didn't feel like it had gotten any worse so for him to be able to come out and play again you know here this afternoon and come out of these games without any setbacks that's huge much like Randall Cobb was able to do with his shoulder still play and yet it's improved while doing so yeah but we don't know about Cobb right now who's not been out there during this Drive same for James Jones this could be a costly they injury wise again for the Green Bay Packers as Starks carries in left side willhoite made the stop and now with that Cobb comes back in James comes back in Aaron told us during the halftime even James Jones left a little bit hunched over we saw cop with the arm hang and even talked about two years ago the way to get you a second 10 Kaepernick keeps to the 14th I think the ones think about it though I think in most football circles you'd say that you know you want the you want the passer I mean by definition playing quarterback you've got to be able to throw the football and when you've got a great defense and you've got a great offensive line you're able to do things with a running quarterback and Kaepernick is very dynamic in that regard but he has tried and tried he's worked hard at it Joey spent a lot of time with Kurt Warner this offseason trying to get more comfortable in the pocket but in these types of games where you have to throw it that's the challenge see if he can do it pass is caught by Torrey Smith and they will mark him enough for a first down as the third quarter comes to an end but a completion and a conversion on third down on this throw from Kaepernick maybe the 49ers can mount a rally down 14 back after this from your local Fox job week in and week out of changing things up giving different looks utilizing the personnel that he has his defense is playing well Kaepernick protected [Applause] short of the first down the Packers defensively have four sacks Nick Perry has two of them and this Green Bay defense is loaded with talented outside linebacker here's the coverage down field on third long well if you're going to run a three-four scheme if you better have some depth at the linebacker position and we've seen this over the years when Dom Capers has had to deal with the injury bug and guys going down this year they lose Sam Barrington and they putting guys in and they use Clay Matthews the way that they use him and that this defense is playing at a very high level [Applause] it's been a frustrating day for this San Francisco offense that loop says it all 14 point game Santa Clara we watch an NFL game in Santa Clara downtown San Francisco a 14-point game 1312 left starting in 223 as Aaron Rodgers able to come back later in the year now the focus is on Richard Rodgers he was a starter coming in anyway in Cunard Backman a rookie sixth round pick out of UAB as his backup [Applause] second one tossed a lacy lacy out across a 45 now the big carry for any lacy battling through an injured ankle he picks up 15 brought down by buffet yeah when you just talked about richard rogers here he is at the full-back position and he leads the way for Eddie Lacy just an excellent job by him of clearing the hole [Applause] August carry of the day for any lazy 15-yarder right there where'd he go quick throw pass caught by Montgomery company gets you watch this green big team and right now they're up 14 points and and yet they're running their office you know I'm doing the things that they do and they're throwing and they're not getting conservative they're not just handing the ball off trying to tell a trusted Aaron Rodgers is going to make good decisions it's going to keep the clock run he's going to throw high percentage passes that's all part of it and I know in visiting with with Rodgers the other day and you know he said novices in him at the top of his game I think that move by making Tom Clements the play caller has really put him in a comfort zone just with that guy who's Carlton plays all day every day in those beamers penalty flag Rogers outside about to the first down calling through it holding offense number 71 10-yard penalty second down another one on sit y'all Pro two-time Pro Bowler and one of the best guards in the National Football League Josh sit you see there tomorrow Bowman it kind of surprises them a little bit to grab wasn't going to let his quarterback take a free shot [Music] look at Tom Clemens knew the play car now and everyone kind of wonder what's it going to look like you know how's it going to go with Mike McCarthy no longer calling the plays and you know this game hasn't been as clean as what we've seen but and if they've looked really good offensively and now as I said with that defense playing at the level that they're played you just don't see those types of combinations offensive when we played as well both these groups are Rogers drop sit down four starts wanna stop name starts is good for a couple this little drop-off pass from Aaron Rodgers he really lit up you asked talking about Aaron Rodgers about the switch from Mike McCarthy Tom Clements and happing Clements with him in the meeting rooms talking on the sideline a head coach that's his attention go elsewhere during the course of the week and does not have that hands-on capability I thought Mike McCarthy is one of the most underrated play callers there was the game he was outstanding but to have that guy with you all day you could discuss things whatever comes to mind is really big Rogers is set and a good play upfront by this defense and as Aaron Lynch [Applause] second-year player out of South Florida and he's one of the better young rushing linebackers in the NFL that's really why he was drafted he's going against Don Barclay Aaron Lynch is very athletic last year he's used predominantly in that role as a pass rusher he's had to do some different things this year as a stand-up outside backer and get into coverage but that's what he excels at is rushing the quarterback [Applause] bass stages pops it up doesn't want the ability for a quick score it will end up out of bounds outside the 30 Eric Mangini should be proud of his group has played well tough test today against Green Bay Packers lead by 14 America's game of the week dominated by the Green Bay Packers leading by 14 offensively not much for the 49ers six-months field goal 7 first downs 49ers need 14 points to tie the game they've scored just 10 points over their last seven plus quarters they were shut down last week in the desert by the Cardinals Kaepernick sideline airs it out incomplete for Torrey Smith covered by Sam Shields they've only got 150 yards total offense here with nine minutes to play in the fourth quarter so not scoring any points not producing any drives there's just not been a whole lot of creativity you know really offensively and I think deep crisp when you get into these situations you're you know your struggle to to really figure out okay well how you gonna move the balls you know consistently and not get into the type of game that where you're depending on Colin just dropped back in trouble is Kaepernick running in circles ends up set back near the 25 by chilliest members but he was not alone a loss of six and that's now five Green Bay sacks in this game at 7:00 last Monday night against Kansas City they good pressure right in the middle you see Colin Kaepernick's trying to do everything that he can to elude the rush and make something happen but their right tackle initially day tone Jones in the middle is the one who is able to get the pressure the right tackle Jordan Devi is he's been struggling throughout this season and that's initially where the pressure came from just got it away can't connect down the middle of the field pulled in with company my shields you pick there any Packer fans here that was like a lambo ovation as Sam shields gets his second of the season those Packer fans that are here enjoying every minute of it now Green Bay with a ball up 14 Packer fans know how to travel a lot of them have a tough time seeing a home game at Lambeau but they are all over this stadium back to the interception yeah take a look at Colin Kaepernick he's got a good pocket in the middle there's really no reason for him to flush the way that he does out to the right trying to buy some time but he's got Torrey Smith on him in round at about 20 yards deep wide open in the middle of the field instead he throws it late even with that he's got a chance to Anquan Boldin but it's a pretty good look at a guy who's just not trusting of the offensive line are not comfortable just sitting there and let things develop because he's late doesn't get enough on it it's intercepted lacy on a toss now the interesting thing that offensive coordinator Jeep Chris said to us in our meeting was we're not scared to run colin kaepernick on the read option because we like blaine gabbert so much they really believe Gabbard who was a first-round bust in Jacksonville has developed here in San Francisco with the 49ers it may not be too long before Blaine Gabbert who's right there number two is in a quarterback not saying today not saying next week but this has got to get better for Kaepernick because it does not look good at all when you have a hundred and fifty yards in a football game they're not producing offensively and that's the first position where they make a change the contract you'd say well you get paid that much money you're not going anywhere good play by Ahmad Brooks they're still playing defensively no game but you you you look at Colin's contract it was pretty favorable to the 49ers as far as whether or not you know how much of that he's going to see so you know we'll see but when he says hey I'm not opposed to running him I think the reason for that is because you got to do what he's what he's best at I mean you can't make him a drop-back passer if that's really not what he is you've got to allow him then to do the things that he does well so you've got to allow him to run but when you get down 14 points running the football isn't going to go [Applause] where did he go Aaron Rodgers and it's Lynch again this 49er defense is still bringing it here in the second half trying to stay in it it's Don Barclay good again in right tackle they just do not give these tackles any help they expect them to do their job they get paid but Don Barclay has struggled and because the coverage has been good Rodgers has not been able to get the ball out as quickly as he did on Monday night kind of dip into that conversation I wonder if Jim Tomsula sounded like he said be a team guy that celebration with his team down 14 they have fought Tomsula sensation but Lynch is a player we'll cover downfield Chris banjo five yards on the return back is Kaepernick down 14 the head coach San Francisco 49ers Tomsula smother is a five-time cancer survivor and that's I think pretty typical in that Tomsula family here's a guy who's really fought his way to this position never been even a coordinator the NFL level and here he is is the head coach and offensively they have a lot of questions to answer yet again Jim Tomsula became a fighter watching his mom [Applause] gonna throw to the sideline miss Burton routes these two head coaches Mike McCartney Pittsburgh's greenfield neighborhood Jim Tomsula right across the bridge [Music] homestead Pennsylvania early looks at two guys who would leave the Pittsburgh area and work their way up to the head coaching level in the NFL second and ten [Applause] here's the other thing I get it the Kapernick is is a threat with his legs and the Green Bay Packers know that better than any franchise with what he's done against them of his legs but there was a time when Kaepernick could throw the ball too he is three and O against Green Bay average and 300 yards capacity in each game not just a hundred yards rushing and he doesn't look like he can find anybody downfield so there's been times coming into this game he'd been pressured 43 percent of time on drop-back passes so you start to lose confidence and the people in front who are protecting you you're not trusting them as we saw on the interception he didn't have to leave the pocket guys aren't making plays we saw Vance McDonald drop one very early in the game when you're trying to get something going Colin Kaepernick's thrown off his back feet last week two interceptions that are returned for touchdowns there's a lot of things happening with this offense not able to run the football as consistently as they were accustomed to doing with Frank Gore a lot of issues and with offenses it all comes down to confidence and being able to trust the guys around you to make plays and right now nobody is trusting anybody and nobody's making a play when they have a chance they're fans in front of our booth that are saying we want Troy yeah yeah I don't come in at this guy I want us knowing we know that yeah and you know what speaking of the going rate what happens to a lot of these guys to Russell Wilson we saw it we see it in Seattle we see Colin Kaepernick you know when you're the underpaid starter and you're playing at a really high level that's great you know your beloved by everybody and then when you get the big contract you know they start looking at you and they expect you to perform this the same way Aaron Rodgers does and things change dramatically and a locker when that occurred there down in 10 you just like to see Kaepernick feel good about something coming off this field he's going to air it out for Smith maybe this this one is caught what a catch by Tori Smith and that'll lift the spirits of Colin Kaepernick working on the rookie Randall what a catch this was this was an excellent catch and a perfectly thrown ball to him we've talked a lot about Kaepernick he throws this one beautifully and this is why they went out and signed Torrey Smith in free agency was the gift Kaepernick a big play threat down the field that haven't been able to take advantage of it this season coming into this game heck he just had seven receptions but they get the big play on that one 47 yards on 3rd and 10 that was a good one from Catholic and he build on the kitchen stopping the clock five even left to play down by 14 points the way that I'm glad that's all they were yelling it depends I mean it you just never know what you know these stadiums it's the Forrest Gump box of chocolates every time you show up second and five [Applause] [Music] and intended for Reggie Bush don't know if somebody got a hand on that or not but it came out weird out of the right hand of Kaepernick nobody got a hand on it I just don't know how you miss this kind of throw and he's got Reggie Bush if he if he saw a ghost or something I just thought that somebody was going to try to take it away and so he didn't want to try to fit that one in tried to pull it back Nate Palmer was working in that direction but that a chance for a pretty nice play got to go for downs here to get the first down it startled five showing blitz Kaepernick has to take a timeout it looked like they were all coming on that one from the Green Bay defense next week Fox NFL Sunday returns here are the matchups Troy Aaron and I will be in Cincinnati for the undefeated Cincinnati Bengals against the Seahawks who play tomorrow night at home against the winless Detroit Lions the other matchups putting the Saints in the Eagles good one today between the Eagles and the Redskins and it was Kirk Cousins ending up on top in that battle in the NFC East coverage starts at 11:00 a.m. Eastern with the all new Fox NFL kickoff followed by America's number one pregame show Fox NFL Sunday I don't know about you but I'm looking forward to going to Cincinnati you know it's a place we don't get to go to very often and the red rifle off and running he's swaying great TCU Horned Frog get a chance to see him play the time we saw Green Bay there in couple of seasons ago and that's been about it take two Olivet down in the truck he's super excited go see his bangles they're down in five Flitz Capron Tori's and in a battle with damarious Randall they're testing the rookie where they sure are damarious Randall he is a nice job and there's contact there but he turns and plays the ball and he has a right to go out at two Torrey Smith initially he's got his hands on it look though you might be able to pull that one in but Randall is able to knock it loose excellent play by the young gun Bolden has been frustrated throughout this game now fourth and five down 14 under four and a half to go Down Goes temperament set forth but it's Mike Neil six sacks for the Green Bay defense after a seven second night on Monday against Kansas City this defense for Green Bay is rolling well they bring the Blitz and they bring more than they're able to protect and so Kaepernick that ball has to come out but yet it didn't look like anybody was anticipating the ball being thrown quickly he's a sitting duck back there and just nowhere to go with the football it was a tough week last week it was a tough week the week before gonna be another tough week for Jim Tomsula in this 49er team they have a game at the Giants next at home against Baltimore at home against Seattle in their bye week [Applause] lacy Lynch is there again he's had a great second half and he really has and I think if you look at Lucien Quan Bouldin he's frustrated it really is how everybody feels over there on that 49er bench but for the Packers now coming into this game three and OH assuming they hold onto this and go on to Borno the you know that's not something that happens a lot for team that's had so much success they've gotten off to slower starts and you look at their next two games none of them are easy but they're back home at Lambeau Field against st. Louis and against the San Diego Chargers and then a bye so right now the first part of this season looking looking really good for the Packers second and 11 [Applause] lacy on a toss shot a first down backers started one into each of the last three years now they've got a chance to go for and home for the fourth time in the last 20 years meanwhile here's coming up scheduled for San Francisco you look at that Joe they got Eli Manning they got Joe Flacco and then of course Seattle and Russell Wilson in a in a team that's been in the big games here in recent years and the last two weeks Ben Roethlisberger last week Carson Palmer they come into this game against Aaron Rodgers and as hot as he was this defense did about all they could do in this game I couldn't hold up any better and they've continued to play with their offense really not able to move the ball here in the second half we've said Aaron Lynch's name a couple of times Ahmad Brooks is still playing a first down carry there by Eddie Lacy and Aaron Rodgers who has 11 touchdown passes no interceptions we got that first touchdown pass early listen to this crowd go pack go I think some of them were 49ers consider saying it the Packers I know when we would play the Packers back back in Dallas they travel as well as any team in the league say they and the Pittsburgh Steelers the top two fan bases they'd like to get on the move here's Curt with a game break speaking of on the move check out agent Peterson for that one wench who and then he's gone 48 yards on the touchdown Vikings in Denver 2025 11 left to go in the fourth quarter Joe Coyte a good game in Denver I think I heard Mike Steve back chant go pack go to now down to the truck here I heard him wake up to [Applause] second and three starts touchback they're gonna give him the 45 yard line and enough for our stuff Aaron Rodgers a lot of that 2015 what a start they're on their way to Florida [Music] backers will go to four and old for the fourth time in the last 20 years 98 Oh 7 2011 to that Super Bowl championship ball 45 and Aaron Rodgers 22 of 32 today 225 yards one touchdown no picks and you're used to that possible bonus coverage coming up with Minnesota and Denver Aaron Rodgers this offense has given the ball away only one time to start this season that's the fewest in the NFL right now yeah well really under Aaron Rodgers who says he took over as the quarterback it's been it's been a team it just doesn't turn the ball over and they really do a good job that was always kind of the x-factor with Brett Favre was how much he'd come in and have some of those type of games but think about a game like this if you and Baron Rodgers wasn't as good with the football and you know you got password to brush get to you you've got receivers that are covered you start throwing the ball indiscriminately and you have interceptions you know how this game would look differently so in a tight game like this and it offense it hadn't rolled the way it typically does it's nice when you've got a guy like him who you can trust with the ball to be smart with them and that's just smart protective but aggressive with it and here's a guy with 11 touchdown passes no interceptions on the list most touchdown passes without an interception through the first four games of the season Peyton Manning Don Meredith with 14 Aaron Rodgers with 11 unless he gets one here late second and six they just don't turn it over Stark's picks up a couple well his you know his mentality as far as not no one wants to throw interceptions but I mean really more than probably any other quarterback they just brilliant juryrigg infuriate him some guys if they throw a lot of touchdown passes they'll deal with some of the interceptions but it occurred at some point very early in his career and whatever coach got to him and taught him how protect how important it was to protect the football you know kudos to him because it has followed Aaron Rodgers and he's terrific last week against Kansas City you know one of the there was a chance for a guy to make a play and he dropped it but it's rare that you even see that so he's awfully good at making sure it's clean when he lets it loose Jeff Bernat cow they be able somebody before that he's extremely smart Erin winner in celebrity jeopardy during the offseason took down an astronaut and a guy from the shark tank since it's this kind of a game we can show you highlights from the Green Bay Packers here's Aaron Rodgers Aaron who is robbing right yes Aaron was South Col correct he is the winner today dressed like mr.
