welcome to the NFL on CBS from this spectacular venue Cowboys Stadium were today the Tennessee Titans at 2:00 and to come in to take on the Dallas Cowboys at 1 & 2 hello friends Jim Nantz along with Phil Simms the roof is closed it's a gorgeous day here in Dallas but they've closed the roof Cowboys and teens about to get started Dallas coming off a bye Phil a lot of concern around these parts that after they lost their first two games of the season back with a win against Houston before the bye yeah I think a lot of people said even the Cowboys said to the fact they wanted to keep that momentum going and of course they took the week off Tim we talked to Wade Phillips and the players this week he says nope we've been chrismole all week long in practice they expect to come out and play well well the Titans just won the coin flip and they want the football so there again you see the roof closed it's in the upper 80s and clear but keep it real comfortable here today for a little football coming your way on CBS so the Titans will see them first Vince Young coming back to his home state David fever will be kicking for the Cowboys there's Vince Young Damian Williams bouncing around or the Cowboys and there is Mariani Mariani the rookie who has had one run back for a touchdown but two fumbles including a crucial mishandle in the lake going last week in the loss against the Broncos the numbers last week against Denver a game played up in Nashville certainly looked like they would have added up to a Titan win it's six sacks they gave up only 19 yards rushing to cut back the 2 and 2 here we get started baylor sends it down and that's his first touch back of the season dealer the kick man who had 29 such kickoff returns last year down as this one is here's bench young his 50th NFL game his first ever start came against the Cowboys four years ago a game that that was won by 31 that got a change in the Titan lineup at left guard Harris out with injury Belasco gets his first career start and what will Chris Johnson do is that two big games like we supposed to last year two subpar games in the long series and that's a pass intended for skate ain't complete at his ankles well the Dallas Cowboys defense has not allowed a 350 yard game by the opposition in the last 17 that's the longest streak of the legal shamsky up front of course the big man here is DeMarcus Ware he had three sacks in the last outing tying his personal best and it's ball on that secondary was sensible Newman and Jenkins second down and 10 delay give Chris Johnson just back to the line plus one let's get a little philosophy here from my man Phil Simms well I think you saw a gym the very first play of the game the Titans want to throw a lot of team splits and when you do that what to do it gives you one-on-one coverage down the field it makes he makes it easy for Vince Young to determine who he wants to throw the football to and I think the tight news trying to take some pressure off of Chris Johnson but with success to open up for him Damien Williams rookie wide receivers in the game and there's some contact and the batteries there is a flag dropped as well intended for Kenny Britt Mike Jenkins was holding on we see it so much when we watch games down the NFL when we do them Jim when you're gonna play tight coverage NFL teams hair ferrets defense number 21 NFL teams thrown up why because the receivers in the NF now NFL now are so talented Kenny Britt has him beat the whole way and the little incidental trip at the end the fact that Jenkins Falls probably saves a touchdown that's a 35 yard penalty and here comes two yards how about Chris Johnson and the two bosses to help 234 and 53 yards Spurs had that breathtaking 2,000 yards season last year sat the all-time NFL record for scrimmage yards rushing and receiving over 2,500 topping Marshall barks previous best I don't think there's any worry when you talk to the Titans about Chris Johnson the talents still there they they're patient with the run game they'll keep giving them opportunities and his talent it's going to break sooner or later baekpa Johnson Young has time Kenny Britt in the secondary [Applause] it looked like a lot of contact pass interference defense number 21 - now on Mike Jenkins the former first rounder out of South Florida well I'm Tim I'll say this now when you look at the Tennessee Titans well that's it's just plate it's there's no doubt either one you can't throw your hand up and say all bad call your easy calls but when you play the Titans they're not noted for the passing game that these are very talented wide receivers so a new set of downs near the 38 that's human coming across and crashing in on Nate Washington and I'll tell you this his fans sit at home and watched that took the Titans see so much man-to-man coverage and the reason is one people don't expect him to throw it a lot but they want to get that extra guy up there to stop Chris Johnson so for bid Sean he drops back and just picks out hey which guy who I want to throw up to I think it's that easy young is thrown at four times throwing to pass interference calls goes to incompletions [Applause] work in the middle for about five chris johnson has his own unique style will say this is i've watched him run this year well that's close what a cutback you can see when he gets any bit of daylight he can stop wait and then accelerate and restart quicker than anybody in the NFL you're a defensive coordinator against the Tennessee Titans he owns a break because it could go to home we had three last year for 85 yards or young woman out throwing it toward the enzyme you can make stick batch then it's going to be a flag that won't matter it's going to be against the coverage and look at the defenders chasin wide receivers Scandrick never sees the football every passing situation so far in the game the Cowboys blitzed the Tennessee was ready for it Cowboys secondary just atrocious era to start couple pass interference call sit down Verona SATs the point Boise Canberra completely turned around nice effort to buy Washington 7 nothing well that's the first time including the postseason the Cowboys have given up any opening drive points in the last nine games aided by a couple of penalty calls against the Cowboys quite a start here for the Titans the Titans are gonna let them know right away you want to blitz okay we're gonna pressure you with our wide receivers down the field there's the kick and Farzin is gonna let that one the quasi is going to let that one be down and run out to the 20 Bironas with the boot what happened here well nothing happens Jim here comes another blitz obvious passing situation instead of sitting back and making him find a spot to throw the football in - no make it easy bench young on the rollout expecting the Blitz gives his receiver a chance and Jeff Fischer loves it let's get on top to start this game cried then when you got this running back back there this just dictates two defenses what they got to do against the Tennessee Titans it makes it easy you're very limited to what you can try because of those plays because the quarterback can run and also now because the wide receivers they have it all big fast aggressive [Applause] Johnson again [Applause] picks up only a yard or two for Allen ball bounces them out but you know you take this run especially the one before it to like Gale Sayers would do this type of thing weaving all over the field yeah they're a little different though just Chris Johnson does it just so easy with so little effort and the fact once it's not there and we kind of talked about it earlier Jim he's just a laugh he can get the full speed from the dick stop better than anybody else that's how he gets those extraordinary run gets a breather ringers in for him second and eight to Tennessee it's pretty great it's young second touchdown toss well yards young two Brits Brit has a touchdown on the third consecutive game here he comes blitz up the middle again the protection is really good and you know it's one-on-one coverage no safety to worry about in the middle of the field and look at the position Kenny Britt had the whole time against the Landel Scandrick so there's no way the defense can make a play when you have position like that so Brett down in each of the last three games it's three touchdown catches in his last six receptions Titans offense is clicking bits young coming back to Texas throwing two touchdown passes here in the early going Kenny Britt takes it the final 12 on the throw from Vince Young and you're not convinced that Kenny Britt was actually his target oh I'm pretty sure it wasn't targeted I'm real sure what it doesn't matter it's a touchdown caught it back to the 29 here's what you're talking about on the touchdown when I saw it live I thought he was throwing to Nate Washington crossing the field watch vincent's I asked Jason Garrett this question he goes look we can't focus on one guy everybody just has to block their man man-to-man and the freed offensive lineman which there's a lot of time there's there's going over Tony Romo's used to get away from those pass rushers but like I said the Titans can redirect so quickly but it's causing the Cowboys a push the understatement a lot of trouble second down Austin got his first career start wind was injured Austin came in game at Kansas City put up to 46 and you go week five last year through week for this year essentially one season he's on top of a
