I remember watching this WS in my college dorm. Good times. My favorite team.
Utley demolished us that year
βThe Yankees are back on topβ
Fuck Joe Buck. Dude sounds like he'd rather be literally anywhere else. Can we ever have someone who actually cares about baseball do world series commentary?
It's crazy how I remember this series being Matsui and A-rod mashing but it was way closer. Waaaay closer. And how important Jorge was.
God, how many singles did Jorje hit? Just little bloops.
It made me realize , even Damon and Tex coming in with these singles and doubles. We have to be be more than a home run team. Obviously you can't be 2009 but I looked back, checked my social media posts for that time of year and remembered.
Why I love the Yankees. Can't wait to have Voit back.
It'd be nice to have Andujar with the doubles but he sitll may be injured. But it's why we need someone like Story and others who can just hit plain singles, bloops and doubles. They win games.
Christ, I miss CC. He probably guzzled Crown after the game, but god was he just a favorite force. And i'm so glad he's healthy now.
Sorry for the long post, just brought a lot of time and memories back. Times when Grandpa said "That's my team!"
I shed a tear. Jeter was in base a lot. He was a great Captain. I met him around 1999 in Tampa. What a wonderful human being
Thanks for sharing that, great memories
This was a real team. Look at that team. They had CC, Andy, AJ. A good bullpen.
Damon, Jeter, Tex, A-Rod, Cano, Matsui, Swisher, Posada, Melky. That's a REAL line-up. Look at their freaking number 4 hitter. A-Rod, who removed his postseason demons that year. Who do we have as our number 4 hitter this year? The great Odor or Aaron fucking Hicks
They had guys who hit for high averages, guys who hit for power, guys who got on base and can hit in the clutch. They had starters who can go deep into fucking games.
I can't believe after this year it's just been downhill to the point of a mess that we are in now.
