The Cubs were basically treating Chapman like airline miles in that playoffs. Use 'em or lose 'em.

He definitely had a tired arm coming back to us the following year.

I'll never understand why he used him as much as he did in Game 6. He came in the game in the 7th with 2 outs and runners on 1st and 2nd and a 7-2 lead to face Frankie Lindor (understandable), but then after he got out of it, pitched the 8th, and then AFTER Anthony Rizzo homered to make it 9-2, went back out in the 9th before walking the leadoff hitter and getting replaced.

All this while Maddon knew he would probably need him for Game 7. Maddon almost cost the Cubs the series because of this.

Did you happen to see that video Baseball bits showing how Chapman threw some hanging pitches but got outs while Rivera in 2001 threw his normal stuff, got unlucky.

It definitely affected him the next year with us. Which is why I think Eovaldi, and to a degree Price, might struggle next season. If they are even able to stay healthy

He was a rental. A pricey one. Probably came from the top.

Side note I was pulling for the Indians in this series but to be a neutral fan and getting to watch 7 World Series games isn't going to get any complaints from me.

He was desperate to win it all. I personally dont like Maddon. He overused and almost lost because of that. Fortunately it worked out for him though. Fucking sucks, I loved the losing streak as an IL native haha. But it's all good heres to another 108 yrs for the Cubs
