Louis go it's kind of amazing what San Francisco has done with this offense Greg the change over Jerry Rice still not the central figure Steve Young not the quarterback but they keep on going run of the football well the passing game this is Charlie garner Johnny it will fit there marques Pope came up with the loose ball [Music] while Charlie garner coming around they think they can run the football today Anthony couldn't tell who stripped the ball out right here riot number 94 reaches in and knocks it out excellent job in Marquez hope the next 49er comes up with the fumble recovery San Francisco had cut down drastically all the turnovers in their last two games which they won they turn it over early here is the handoff and this plan this was dead before it gets underway movement on hold on to and I think it makes it very difficult for quarterbacks especially early in the game just learning to control the football how to deal with the wind police that was excuse our huge game you though well been reshuffled has done an excellent job of protecting a passer and opening holds up for the running game as we mentioned Owens back after the one game suspension the team with Jerry Rice Charlie garner the league number-two rusher Fred Beasley already a career best 5 touchdown this season in the booth a little bit defensive line the front floor of Bryant jackson Russell and Johnstone six of the team's eight sacks at linebacker William Thomas the Oakland leader in interceptions with three and the defensive backs Eric Allen and Charles Woodson they are an excellent match up against the San Francisco 49er wide receivers Garcia needs the 30-yard line for first down grows with years I've gone around the back eighteen yard pickup in a first down well the Oakland Raiders try to go with three rushers this time look three guys rushing the quarterback one is sitting there to spy Jeff Garcia to make sure he doesn't run out of pocket the problem with that defense in my opinion look at the time Garcia head zones breakdown that's why the Charlie corner was wide open for the reception you give the quarterback too much time when he watched his three people in the backfield and give us the Dorner straight Charlie garner no stranger to Jon Gruden of the Oakland Raiders they were together back in Philadelphia well and Jon Gruden the offensive coordinator back then he was Ricky Watters was were buddy back Garner's to back up but he says we used to call him out he was instant offense give him the football he would come in he was excitable ran hard he made plays and of course the backfield on first down the pitch for Wheatley left side 22 second to me I have to almost like giggled a little Craig because when you see Tyrone Wheatley run there and he just piles it into the likeable act well I think he stated his case to us very well Greg and he did it he was just upset by the way this treated I think he says everybody treated me like I was some kind of thug in a suspended Terrell Owens for a week yeah the 49ers it was the 49ers the key there is is something we don't know but we don't know the particulars but didn't other things he's done within the organization that brought this on that is one thing being maybe put some meetings it is and even the words he had to say after he did this and all the team was so upset it's gonna run blum part of the Raiders back there second time this season the Raiders have blocked the punt and Oakland takes over at the San Francisco 24 Wheatley in profit behind they give us the wheatley of the minute lots of enemies we put him to about the 17 but you know coming in I said and I said early in the game the Raiders could take advantage of the 49er defense throwing the football the conditions have kind of changed that they've had receivers open Danna didn't find them maybe the wind blew the football away they drop a pass so now you get to go back and beat him the way that you've really designed this team to be a Power Team four wooden heart and then sit ups and pass - play action [Applause] second than three [Applause] and infra tuck in on the stop of no gain it will be third and three what did you see all the 49ers over there making that tackle Jim Moret jr. says hey you know we can make some some mistake but the one thing we will do we will run to the football and we hustle and they got some pretty good speed on defense now [Applause] saying it's been fun watching this team learn day-to-day and week-to-week something about all the youngsters we have on defense [Applause] with plenty of time rosid man Ricky Dudley with well you don't see rich gain and make these type of clothes too often Ricky Dudley is wide open he's going to pick up the first down Rich Gannon looks like he said well what happened is the other changes delivery a defender in front of him so he tries to go real Colin high that thought something he does very well he likes to stay low blow it design unfold around know he kind of knows what's waiting for him Phil let's take a look at Jeff Garcia and what a day it's been like oh oh another big hit all that would hurt too little jump path doesn't work they hit him down low Gillian we're going to get a reek it because of an offsides on the kickoff this interesting I'm talking to Jeff Garcia he says you know I took a pounding last year on you knowing exactly what I was doing and then taking a few more hits than normal well he takes a lot of hits it's his style he's aggressive to be successful he really needs I think to move around and be active and then you're gonna be that way in the National Football League but especially in his size you're just going to take a lot of big hits but he absorbs him well and I had the first thing I notice when I would watch them get ready for the game but he's got a little bigger physically he said he lifted some weights up to try to protect himself and it's it's worked well so far Steve Mariucci said that they have been trying to get him to slide down and him he's been he's been more the hit first night any we can end quite learn how to do it doesn't do it very well actually last week he slipped beat lurks 1000 up taking a bigger hit from the point 5-yard line gurgi and smackdown there that's an 11-yard return if this was the San Francisco is done with the football here in the first half yeah not much happening on any of those plays any of those series and I think the 49ers came into this game they a tremendous respect for the size and the power of the defensive line of the Raiders but they thought because you watch the builds of other teams other teams have had success running the football up in there so far the 49ers have not got the running game going it's been a different experience with all these kids around [Applause] - about the 25 and at night you know with veterans all you have to do is worry about getting into the game on Sundays when they're healthy and you got young guys and it's just spending a lot more time on the field working on fundamentals coaching he says sometimes you even got to slow him down in practice because they're so eager they're so energetic they will to do everything to please the coaching staff so it's been a good experience I think for the 49er coaches completed across the 30 outfit yard-line Greg quark appears to be any about a half yard shy of the first down and garcina gets up slowly boy look at that I mean he's taking some big hits I could see a little blood on his left hand already you can tell you look at a few weights this offseason but when you're playing a team as big as the Raiders are I don't care if you're used to taking these hips or what you cannot continue to take punishment and what happens to a quarterback once he starts getting hit a whole line or more than he's accustomed to what's human nature you think well I better get rid of the football just a little bit quicker so I don't get hit the next time and that's where bad decisions come in look at Darryl Russell all over him Darryl Russell he is he's huge look at that he ain't can run a limber he can do it all if Darryl Russell had the energy and the willpower to go on a button all the time he could be maybe the best defensive player in football about a half a yard I'm gonna try to run it here's to have enough for the first down it is the first down well that's a good job by Charlie garner when you know it's third and short don't dance around just find a little opening and he jumps into it to pick up the first down you know you're talking about the size of that defensive line or the Raiders in Jeff Garcia officially is listed at 6 1 195 Charlie garner looking at 5 9 and 187 it's not a lot of weight control against garner this plate just illustrates the forty-niners still one of the best teams in league when it comes to doing the sweeps around to the outside as he comes around look at that Greg beat Gertz their defensive back coming up so much penetration again watch it Jackson Lance Johnstone up in there Darrell taste it from behind Alexander it's a little axe never late that's a good job by Greg Feith red of breaking down the block and I had a Charlie garner [Applause] back down as well second quad Garcia goes down Darrell Russell with that hit on Garcia draws a flag both the penalties I think are against the Oakland Raiders they flinched made an offensive lineman for the 49ers me I think de Fiori the right guard smooth number 94 well Darryl Russell is anxious he has just one sack to his credit this season would like a lot more and all of this was after the whistle is blue Wow you know you're right Greg that was not much and you can even see the Darryl Russell actually tried to hold up Jeff Garcia with his left hand but not able to do so no well he didn't right I thought he didn't then Jeff Garcia look he's well-trained when he thinks there's going to be some kind of contact he goes down you know Darryl Ruffalo every time I think some of that selected at the defensive lineman especially don't worry about sacks and all that you do your part and help us win the football game 35:13 pick up and another first down for the 49ers now the key to flipping on defense is to make sure you're evenly spaced this time they're not Brian number 94 gets pushed down inside it creates a hole outside there's no linebackers there because they're on the Blitz and look at the big hole Charlie garner has when you over commit from your position when you're blitzing it creates a hole it's an amazing thing when there's a hole the offense they find it and they get the big game first down 27 yard line fake the end around Garcia steps up throws and that's Garcia getting off the ground that's another big hit in just two Jeff Garcia but that time again moving around won't buddy open down the field he almost created a big play he'd get that ball to friend Beasley it's gonna be a nice game look and look down the field I'd say that's one thing you think he does that I think saves in the fact that he's uh he's a joke bathroom he jumps almost every time he throws it so it's not planted so those day hits queen-mother go holy quick cap that's complete Jerry Rice sorry the 22 the ninth to cover paint it'll be third and two that's the new Jerry Rice we saw there Greg in the old days he caught that plant and he'd be in the end zone doing whatever now he's turned into my cup a possession receiver uses its eyes in his body I think very well and just shields the football from the defender and it works but it makes it easy for the quarterback to cocaine this is a 215 consecutive games in which Jerry Rice is thought at least one path Garcia Pete inside the king [Applause] we'll hit third short hits third and short and you're playing defense for the Raider why would you lose containment he'd know they're going to move the quarterback [Applause] it appears part of the game plan is to wear the heck out of Jeff Garcia today great he's into this league now this is the second year we've seen him take punishment ever since you've been in you can't wear this guy out 24 yards in penalties assessed against the Oakland defense on this drive first and goal [Applause] Alexander this kind of reminds me I hate to go back in history sometimes like this but this is a typical Raider what they used to do in the years past till they they go out there they're dominating them the pace of play with he just making silly mistake by rough in the past or twice doing things that really you should not do in the
