putting the same tune up we had for yesterday rick runs the best he's ever had uh we have to run a 7 44 so 724 and you guys got this in the back sweet are you going to go back again for like a hero might raise it up a little bit dude so awesome all right stefan's up day five of sick week he has made the 800-plus mile drive after putting his car in the wall on day one this will be epic if you can just do anything other than cruise down the track so [Music] so [Music] all right we're here with steve morris with the baddest wagon i've ever seen in my life and it says two is there a one yes so so i've had this car for uh just a little over 20 years now whoa and so i bought it bought it off the side of the road because i just liked wagons i just always liked the way these things look and uh just kind of turned into a little street car and took the family around had the backward-facing seat in it all that cool crap and then then you know because the nature of what we do i mean it's like you gotta turn everything into a freaking race car so i know so i showed up at the very first uh drag week 2006 trailer car down there didn't have any tests he didn't have nothing on it of course just like today yeah um blew it i mean kicked the rods right clean out of it i mean it was horrendously bad oiled down the track they were so ticked off at me but uh because i drove it all the way down the track like that you know and uh just young and stupid uh so i came back and started working on it it's like okay i'm gonna start figuring this thing out and i kept it as pro charged car for a long time uh back in uh 2010 it used to be orange and silver and i hit the wall in orlando and at that point it said hey white with wood grain that would be sweet so we painted it white with wood grain and uh it was actually a decal on it it was pretty cool in a still pro charge car i used to run radial versus world and i called it the boost master and back when radio versus world was slow so i mean i was going like 450s and they were going like 420s so you know back when everybody was still slow and uh so after that in 2013 i said you know what i think this would be super cool as a pro modified car let's do this as a pro mod car so that's when the chassis came along so the whole chassis but i wanted to do a steel drag week drag and drive or you know a drag and drive type events just like this be able to go into pro mod go do some stuff or just play yeah i always that my motto on this whole deal is i do not have the time or resources to be the fastest but i can be the coolest that's right so you are definitely up there i can have the coolest car most different car i can get more attention with this than if i would honestly then if i was the fastest guy here yeah honestly even if you honestly even tom i would i would get more i'll get more impressed with this than trying to get with his car yeah people chase you down people chase you down to look at this car so wait so i cut everything out of it and started started going through the chassis process and chassis shop and so skinny kid race cars built the roller mickey's uh mickey's chassis works did all the interior all the carbon all the uh headers hot side uh uh the tilt out steering wheel everything like that too so well i noticed you sit basically in the back seat yeah so in order to in order to make the car work right uh if you look at if you look at any pro mod car the main hoop is right here on the wheel tub uh problem is is this door is short i mean some normal door is about this long yep well my problem is is i got a door pillar right here so the the setback is actually where it's supposed to be the front of the car is a little bit extended okay so you can get in and out of it oh yeah so this i mean i have it's power windows got the stock door panels in it i mean it's a whole deal at least you're nowhere near the trans back here so you got to be getting some relief from the heat from the trans sitting back here no it is a hot when they're totally exposed like this they are hot yeah they just are i mean getting in and out of it's like oh dude i mean it's that easy i'd enjoy in and out of a pro mod car that's nuts yeah it took me nine years to get this thing done built here and i was still thrashing on at the last minute and still didn't do any testing until i got here this is your first time like going down the track this year yeah this this sunday yeah today will be the uh fourth full pass on the car wow all right so i know you broke the trans yesterday what was the deal there so i i i go up there and there's another turbo guy in a radial car beside me i'm thinking all right not a big deal you know he turns on top bulb i turn on top bulb and i just spool up and i went ahead and bumped in well he bumped all the way through and then backed up and i'm still sitting there i'm just killing it and they didn't let the light go down and i'm like going and i finally let off and it's like hey what the heck and then all of a sudden he bumps back in and i go all right and so i bring it back up again and now this thing is just freaking cooking and i should have i should have just backed out and not made a pass it was it was so freaking hot it just burned all the forward clutches out of it so we can't you know came back around cool it down i didn't think it was hurt at the time we go back up there and it just has no forward gears whatsoever so uh big thanks to eric yost derek yost rebuilt the transmission for me in the pits what yesterday yesterday so yeah did a heck of a job if it would have been an hour faster i probably would have made a pass and i wouldn't and i could be a lot better off right now i had to turn in a 11 second time slip from the first pass very first full pass was a 689 at 200 then my second full pass and the exact same tune-up was 682 215 because i just didn't lift yeah and then uh then we went to gainesville and i went 689 215. it's consistent yep and then driving that's all on my base tune so i mean i'm i mean we got a lot to go but i just haven't got there yet so are you going to turn it up today uh at some point in time i'm just gonna go out there make a pass first and i'm super happy to be here and uh i mean this car was brand new i had not i did not i didn't even start it up to drive it in the trailer it was that new so when to come down here and so i mean it made all the way through through the week did the drive outside of the transmission so i mean but i'm not transmission guys so the engine the engine is good that's what i care about what is the engine tell us about that okay so the engine is smx so that's my engine platform so it's all billet it's basically it's all billet pro modified motor okay that quite literally is a pro modified motor so that'll make 4 500 horsepower same engine as in tom's car and two um and when i say it's my my engine i mean we make the blocks and the heads it is not my heads don't fit on any other block in the world my block doesn't fit on any other heads in the world so it is our own deal all right well uh we'll let you get back to it but i cannot wait to see this traffic tkx 5g park williams you know 49 inch and drive shaft axles pretty much the whole the whole rear end is beefy so it can accept big towers so you've just impressed the hell out of me so you've obviously been around this a very long time yeah and i've heard you have a youtube channel yeah all right what's the name of that youtube channel uh blanche therapy there you go so if you're not following that you need to because that's impressive right there so what's the quickest time out of this car so far 1007 138 100. we're chasing that nine second zone are you gonna get it today we're gonna go get it today so you had some problems yesterday we did i was leaving south georgia i was leaving the gate i looked over like there's my favorite cars oh my god it's smoking yeah i panicked but what happened brother and i discussed you know after we went 1004 yesterday like that gets us in our wheelhouse but our goal was to go average nines this week we really needed a 9.99 yesterday to get there and uh we talked about it and decided let's let's stick around let's it's it's switched over which just they're running through cars fast so we thought let's go try it again so we turned off all the retards uh turned up the launch rpm a little bit and thought that should get it and uh burnout was good on the two-step let the clutch out and it was rolling and i was just about to grab second i heard a little bang i thought oh man well that's done so i pushed clutch in and stopped and jumped out because i'd seen some smoke and looked everything under the hood looked fine uh got back in the car and thought i smelled something and i thought that's just residual we're good guys i'm going to take off so i jumped back in i started the car up and i started rolling down the racetrack to get out everybody's way and uh it started smoking inside of that oh boy we're in trouble yeah i'm going down the racetrack the smoke's building and then i look down at the i have a clutch line that goes out the tunnel and i seen a glow of orange i was like oh that's not good yeah so i ducked under the dash and i seen flames like that's really not good so i just boogied off the track and turned a corner and i hauled up to get the uh you know get some help the whole time i was trying to kick it out with my foot up under there trying to like stomp it out yeah and so um we got there and i you know just trying to be vocal and serious like fire fire we need some fire extinguisher and uh somebody brought one over and i think that's about time you guys were rolling up yeah and uh i snuffed it out and uh uh turns out it it backfired when it backfired it flash fired through the steering column hole enough then got the the firewall pad and it started smoldering and then as i drove off the air fanned it and fueled it up and so uh snuffed it out it got the call that steering column brace it got it hot and melted all the wires together and then when we you know when we deemed it was okay it went to fire it and it uh the crank wire was melted yeah so it started again we pushed it back and yeah uh we left in time we got to garland's museum at 9 30 right when it was over so we got i had the cluster out of it and rewired some stuff while he was changing it back over and yeah and uh then royce that we were traveling with he had valve train problems so we were both like trying to get done so we could get to garland's place you know but well at least you're here we made it and didn't burn to the ground no thank god no no no so there's a fire system on board and if we needed that you know we would have pulled it but i didn't want to like we have to get here right so i was trying to be cautious like i mean you could stuff a big old extinguisher and just woof yeah but i got to fix this thing you know and then i got to drive it 300 miles tomorrow yeah so really the only thing that hurt was we ain't got no tunes man oh man so it's got two 12's under the front seat what and oh yeah it's got air conditioning 212's stereo up front so what trans is in it it's got a liberty prepped tkx so it's face plated and uh we have a ace 10 inch clutch from black magic that is part of the magic here that makes the thing roll so yeah all right well there you have it we'll show you some passes here after a while you know yeah we're going to get updated so we're going to i'll be waiting it doesn't have dump valves doesn't have lock-up converter no three-speed bs just like an old race car chassis some big turbos and we got m5 fuel just a bunch of fuel and a bunch of boost and lettering that's so awesome all right so what's your strategy going into today what class are you in right now so we're in unlimited per second i think our average is probably a 7-0 something because we had a 7 10 no 7 15 7 10 and a 6.98 so we might be a 710 to a 709 average i'm not very good at math so what's your strategy going into today today i would like to go like a 680 at 200 mile an hour yeah the transmission is just pumping out fluids i don't know it's just covered everything it's pumping out the overflow it's been doing it all week though oh okay get to the track pour some more in it it's black but it's okay it was red no big deal one more pound yeah as long as it holds so we're going to crank the boost up put a little bit of timing in it and see what happens you know we got 850 miles this week in the 57 if you guys don't remember we picked this thing up in texas i was looking for doors for the other car ended up buying the whole damn thing dickie jones showed us around the lot he took us to his house showed us all kinds of cars and projects and parts and more about the 57 it's got a ford nine inch in it from quick performance magnum six speed from silver sports transmissions it's got the og roadkill ramp trucks 454 under the hood the thing's still kicking runs awesome it's got autometer gauges in it i'm going to put heat and air in it and the reason it's got bucket seats front and rear is because i couldn't find seats for the damn thing apparently they're sacred around my area and they're god awfully expensive so i was like screw it i'm putting bucket
