minecraft is full of all sorts of features easter eggs and unique mechanics every block item mob and mechanic is some sort of lore or trivia behind the creation here's 20 things that you likely didn't some food items parrots however are the only ones that die when fed a specific food you can tame them by feeding them any types of seed however don't feed them cookies as this will cause them to die interestingly this is because parrots in real life are fatally allergic to chocolate which is an ingredient in minecraft cookies parrots aren't the only animals in real life that are allergic to chocolate in fact most creatures have difficulties digesting theobrine a caffeine-like substance in chocolate [Music] number two reversed and distorted endermen have plenty of interesting lore behind them that makes them quite a unique mob to theorycraft about endermen are the only mob that can spawn in all three dimensions enderman's sound effects are all real spoken words that have been highly distorted and run in reverse when played in reverse the endermen appear to say hey hello look for the eye and some other things interestingly when an enderman is spectated the player can see from their distorted perspective in which all colors have been inverted [Music] number three scary sounds the gas sound effects are some of the most terrifying in the entire game however sub would it surprise you to learn that these creepy creatures get their sounds from a cat well according to c418 the gas sounds were actually taken from his sleeping cat which makes these sounds when disturbed number four shocking mobs lightning is a rare occurrence in minecraft only happening during a thunderstorm however the chance of lightning actually striking a mob is even lower nevertheless lightning has all sorts of effects on various mobs in the world creepers when struck become charge creepers which deal far more damage with a much greater explosion size villagers become witches pigs struck by lightning turn into zombie pigmen and mushroom cows struck by lightning change colors turtles killed by lightning drop a ball instead of the regular kelp [Music] number five trade a llamas and llamas the trader llamas are owned by the wandering trader who can spawn into the world occasionally they have a unique carpet decoration which can actually be overwritten by adding carpet but never removed the trade a llama cannot be tamed unless the wandering trader's leads break interestingly the trade a llama is actually a separate mop from the llama instead of being a variety of the llama as you might expect number six chicken jockeys what if i told you there are more types of chicken jockeys than just a regular baby zombie one that's right there's actually four other mobs that can become chicken jockeys there are jockey versions for zombie villagers husks zombie pigmen and even drowned interestingly the drowned chicken jockey cannot survive anywhere as the chicken needs air but the drowned must be in water no poor chicken number seven the phantom size phantoms naturally come in one size however as we mentioned in this video phantoms can actually have their size determined with particularly useful utility mob they can be created by the player and are meant to defend the location or the player however the main use of snow golems has been for farming snow as they can create snow wherever they walk the main reason they aren't useful is due to their snowballs dealing no damage but this isn't entirely true as snowballs are actually able to damage one entity the blaze however while snow golems can damage blazes with their snowballs this isn't exactly practical because snow golems will melt to death if they're built in the nether due to the extreme heat number nine difficult golems the iron golem is a fairly powerful mob with a lot of health it can deal massive damage to mobs unfortunate enough to feel its wrath however the damage dealt is somewhat inconsistent across difficulties mobs hit by an iron golem always received 7 to 21 damage however the damage received by the players differs depending on the game's difficulty on peaceful it does zero damage easy mode is 4 to 11 damage [Music] number 10 mules mules are an interesting mob in that they can't spawn naturally the mule is a cross between a horse and a donkey because of this they don't spawn naturally and instead must be obtained intentionally a mule can't breed so to obtain more you must continue breeding horses and donkeys number 11 bane of bees enchantments in minecraft allow for all sorts of things one enchantment that doesn't get much love however is the bane of arthropods due to its lack of well usefulness while it may not be very useful it's worth knowing that bees are actually affected by this enchantment this makes it the most valuable enchantment for fending off a swarm of angry bees hey sup if you stop stealing the bees honey then they probably wouldn't be out to kill you number 12 toast in minecraft you can cook bread and turn it into toast no wait that's not right toast is actually a reference to a lost bunny of a person in the minecraft community one of the minecraft developers was kind enough to add a rabbit to the game as a memorial to the disappeared dutch bunny by naming a rabbit toast it becomes textured to look like the missing rabbit nice little nod to the poor rabbit number 13 x-ray vision well generally a superpower x-ray vision is something that a couple of mobs have normal mobs such as zombies and creepers cannot see through blocks spiders if angry attempt to pap to the player and generally end up climbing whatever is blocking their view vinder caters can summon vex which will fly through the solid walls and attack the player this can be quite dangerous so be careful sub number 14 impossible to spectate every mob in minecraft can be spectated by clicking on them while in spectator mode this will show you their perspective and has some interesting effects creepers see everything in shades of green and endermen see everything with inverted colors however while you can even spectate as non-living entities such as item frames and armor stands you cannot spectate as the ender dragon there isn't any explanation for why this is the case but if you look at the bounding box of the actual dragon you can learn that the dragon is actually facing the opposite direction that its head is facing this might mean that there are some bugs in relation to the facing direction and head that may cause the dragons and not be fearsome fighter that requires a fair amount of preparation to survive against however while it cannot spawn naturally it shows up in multiple other players with the minecraft lore chiseled into red sandstone is a clear image of the wither boss a painting of the wither also exists which adds to the existence in the minecraft world [Music] number 16 missing animation for every mob in the game except one upon death they have a death animation when a mob dies this death animation plays which is essentially just the mob turning red and falling over well pretty simple this death animation does its job at indicating that the mob is in fact dead however the squid for some reason doesn't have this animation when a squid dies it just turns red and then poops unlike every other mob it doesn't fall over this could be explained by the fact that it's an underwater mob but all of the other fish have the death animation hmm really makes you think number 17. a strange man some of the mobs in minecraft have been given names by the developers not just referred to the ender dragon as a she calling her gene while somewhat of a strange name dinnerbone another dev has stated that he thinks gene is now the official name of the dragon number 18 a dangerous ride quite a few mobs can ride inside of carts in minecraft however fish mobs cannot at all ride in minecarts after all mine carts must travel on rails which must be on the land however fish require water to breathe and thus would die if they rode outside of the water even so while none of the fish can get into the mine carts for some reason squid still can this can actually be useful if you're attempting to transport them across land number stray spiders a rare occurrence in minecraft is the spawning of a spider jockey they're a dangerous mix of a skeleton riding a spider that can catch unprepared players by surprise sup you've only ever encountered a couple of spider jockeys in your time playing minecraft well have you ever seen a stray jockey this is an even rarer occurrence as it can only spawn in cold biomes where a normal stray spawns quite cool don't you think [Music] number 20 useless crossbows crossbows are an interesting new projectile weapon that can be quite a powerful tool to have however only one mob in the entire game can wield a crossbow the pillager these mobs fall naturally with a crossbow interestingly if a pillager shoots too many times with a crossbow it'll break once that happens the pillager will be completely passive other mobs such as zombies and skeletons can be given crossbows with commands however they will not shoot with them despite the fact that skeletons should be able to handle a ranged weapon instead they will attempt to melee the player with the crossbow also a side note pillagers are unable to use bows or swords if they've been given them with commands i guess it must be the crossbow that makes them evil rampaging monsters [Music] [Music] you
