Roger Clemens hometown boy returns a hero you know his career has come full circle GD back in 1986 Roger Clemens had to start in the Houston Astrodome as a member of the Boston Red Sox now 18 years later six all young awards at age 41 the oldest pitcher in Major League history to start an all-star game guess what he's a member of the Astros a dominant first half for Roger Clemens all right well I hope Mike Piazza is busy right now because we really cannot ignore this other intriguing factor it's like it Roger let's get past it four years ago hey there teammates tonight both guys want to move passes I caught up with him just the other day when I miss I try and miss weigh-in and you're not happy you don't feel great about when you hit a guy up around the shoulders you guys it's gonna happen but you don't feel great about it all you do is reach out and Tom in the middle of the game you're not gonna sit there Bullock here we're both pros we're gonna handle this and deal with you know the play to win they're gonna give it their best effort but like Joe says how do you know that you that you're starting nine is better than the the backups or the backups are better than you don't know those things I mean bleh like you don't run last year to give us the home-field advantage and he wasn't it started right and and and what good did the home-field advantage do you know you have to rub that in now last year before the game Mike Scioscia Linda's in the wind I want the right man forgot that one I can tell you I said the American League dugout invention incredible and Garret Anderson came down everybody stayed late it was a really special moment the players always play hard the last year was kind of something special and that late any home run went as Jack just told us things don't always work out in fact Orion Mint he thought he'd seen the last of Roger Clemens game for the World Series and he was wrong thankfully oh yeah he was wrong because Roger Clemens thought he was done himself and all the relief the stress of Major League Baseball these years was completely gone until he got persuaded by a couple of friends great McLane of course dandy but it's a and three I've had success before I've won 20 games I've won these awards I want other guys that know what it feels like to win and to win big if I'm 10 and 10 I'm happy we make the playoffs win the division or wildcard and get in there then if you know game on Roger going back to 1986 pitched in the Astrodome it has a come full circle now the only thing when I look at it I see the highlights I'm a lot younger and it just went by too fast I mean I almost don't even remember it but I'll be excited and you know how serious it is because you're facing the best of the best for you personally though to be back where you're from just signed with the National League team after coming out of retirement he named the all-star team to be starting this game what's the feeling inside got to be for you well um you know I'm looking forward to it I'm gonna try and get my rest and you know there's more than just pitching in the all-star game here in my hometown you know when I talk about my team sore hamstring and Joe Torre one of the go to Manny Ramirez did and said I'm gonna get you in the game you're gonna make your start but early you will come out of this game except for the captain of boston redsox need him at their lineup for the second half runner at third one out and Clemens pauses for a moment if there is a big difference between Roger Clemens let's say in the Boston here compared to Roger Clemens in the Toronto New York Yankees in now Houston ears it's that split fingered fish he has made a big adjustment and it's helped him pitch this effectively as he's out there at
