have already doubled their victory total of last season went by rookie runners Leonard Russell and John Barr there's now some pop in the offense and there's a patriot defense that swarms it hasn't given up a rushing touchdown yet this season as the Patriots try to continue an upward trend and keep coach dick McPherson jumping for joy certainly the best of times could be coming for Coach Mac in his Patriots NBC Sports presents the National Football League today it's the Miami Dolphins versus the New England Patriots wet and windy and mild in Foxboro as the fitbit's the dolphins are ready to me good afternoon everyone I'm Don creaky everyone in the dolphin organization is looking for reasons why this team is struggling and the number one reason is probably defense last season is the Dolphins marked 12 and 4 on a season at the end they were 11 straight weeks the number one defensive team in the NFL right now they ranked number 27 I'm joined by Bob Trumpy once again and Trump as you know when they don't make the place for coach Shula he'll change the players and he has today there's four new starters on the defense the most significant guy I think is TJ Turner moving into nose tackle replacing Brian soshe who was dumped last week now the significant thing about these poor guys being in on this defense is this is now the defense that basically played last year when you talked about that number one ranking for 11 weeks except for Tim mkhaya so these guys should be able to get it done another Miami problem is obviously the passing game and they haven't been protecting the end Marino he's been sacked 13 times already was sacked only 15 times all of last season's yeah and I think what do you been answer to that problem of the sacking is the pressures Dan Marino's been pressured all over the field by everyone and it destroys the timing of the passing attack by the Miami Dolphins so those are the two major concerns stopping the run on defense and protecting Dan Marino and the weather is going to be affected Mother Nature playing through Foxborough you see the wind as the flags are out there's been heavy rain it's lessened a bit now but there could be more heavy rain the Dolphins have won the toss and they'll receive the ball to start the game and I think the big factor here as you see that the new grass turf here at Sullivan Stadium in Foxborough is the win both sides play in the rain but when there's gusting winds in two quarters it's in your favor and in two for two quarters it's against you and it's an element that coaches never like and especially when you're two and three you see how the Siri stands over the ears Dan Marino has struggled against New England it's the only team in the NFL that he's thrown more interceptions against
