away from the national championship colder call him little will at 60 tall in 212 pounds Bellus second down against the waters on the reverse and he is brought down just shy had the first time over 417 left who very close to blocking was Pickett and he might have gotten a piece of it as that ball slices right into the Irish sidelines a little bit make sure they love you as well a lot of love on Arizona in races name congratulations to Notre Dame and their underclassmen quarterback Tony rice he threw for over 200 yards he had some big runs it was a battle of quarterbacks and rice just saw with along with his teammates the announcement he is the most valuable player stop dwell on something down there in the Notre Dame side of the field and here comes Lou Holtz who wants to know what's pac-10 conference [Music] and so on there it is a final seconds tick away and Notre Dame well duly celebrate a national championship no doubt the Irish are number one [Applause] as real it's not with home the heart that every fan has for their team that we're number one no question it's now reality for the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame and their fans number one in the 1988 collegiate football season as a defeat West Virginian 3421 out of the Orange Bowl by frickin Bob Trumpy
