I think too with Pascual Perez fishing against a terrific pitcher like Atlee hammaker Joe Torre is putting in a very good defensive team tonight Randy Johnson will play third base Jerry royster will be in left field the Braves except for Chris Chambliss have an all right hand hitting team so here in this football weather tonight why Joe hopes the Braves will come out ahead and what will be probably a low-scoring game we should have a good one we'll be back with the starting lineups right after this [Music] your head and where it's fresh and green to see a world you've never seen there are new friends to me there are new things to do and there's something big waiting for [Music] [Music] after a long business trip the last thing you need is a hassle at the airport that's why Eastern has one time check-in it's like going from the curb directly to your plane because Eastern can give you boarding passes for your entire trip the first time you check-in one time check-in Easterns way of wishing you many happy returns [Music] national anthem just sung by Laura Brooks Bryce from Atlanta and now singing with the San Francisco Opera Company and Miss Rice has some Greek voice really excited the fans here at Candlestick Park let's check the lineups for tonight's game first of all for the Braves a very different lineup put forth by manager Joe Torre Rafael Ramirez leaves off at shortstop then Jerry royster bats second in left field Chris Chambliss is the first baseman hitting third Dale Murphy in centerfield batting fourth Terry Harper bats fifth in right field tonight and then making his first start of the year Randy Johnson at third base batting sixth Glenn Hubbard is the second baseman hitting seventh Bruce Benedict will be behind the plate hitting eighth and pitching will be the Braves top starter Pascua Perez yz8 in one and has a glittering GRA of 2.80 he's won his last three all very low-scoring games for the Giants this way Johnny Lemaster leaves off at shortstop then Tom O'Mally past second at third-base [Applause] then Jack Clark and Renfield for max Venable hitting in centerfield Jeff Leonard returns to the lineup after sitting out the series in Atlanta in left field and it will hit six milkmaid behind the plate batting seventh Brad Wellman the second baseman batting eighth and the Giants top starting pitcher left-hander Atlee hammaker on the mound he's seven and three and has a phenomenal earned run average of only one point seven one umpiring behind the home plate tonight will be Lonnie Harris the first base umpire will be big Lee Weyer at second base Dutch Rennert on thrives under broadcasting rights granted by the Atlanta Braves and attended solely for the entertainment of our audience any publication reproduction descriptions or accounts of this game in whole or in part without the express written consent now the Atlanta Braves in the Turner Broadcasting System is prohibited down the analysis for the event are employed by the Turner Broadcasting System the Braves lost two of three in Los Angeles they had a scratch to get two runs in the ninth inning of Game two in order to win that one game a Braves are looking for a little more run production and the Braves have made a couple of changes you might know of them but if you don't Mike Jorgensen has joined the team Ken Smith was sent back to Richmond Jorgensen joins the team from the New York Mets he's a left-hand hitting first baseman outfielder and he'll be on Joe Torre's bench tonight Rick behenna was sat down last night to Richmond Bridge regularly and his place was Ken Daly who had a record of nine and three down at Richmond Park and Daly is expected to start tomorrow and Pete van Rijn will talk more about that as our broadcast continues Braves now in the second series on this long road trip and will play here tomorrow afternoon and Sunday afternoon as well then the Braves move on to Houston play Monday night Tuesday night and Wednesday night have Thursday off then play at y9 doubleheader in Cincinnati then Saturday evening in Cincinnati Sunday afternoon and Monday night in Cincinnati before returning home on Tuesday the 28th to play against the Houston Astros now currently the Braves are three and a half games out of first place Los Angeles has the record of 41 and 20 Texan Atlanta 38 and 24 the Braves a three and a half out and Atlanta still has the second-best record in all of baseball that won't mean much unless they catch Los Angeles Atlee hammaker on the mound for the Giants and leading off for the Braves will be Rafael Ramirez on a cold blustery night here at Candlestick and now for the play-by-play once again here's Pete van Waring okay thank you John Rafi batting 287 113 RBIs he takes a breaking ball for a strike on the inside corner nothing in one play Hammacher making his 13th start he has four complete games a seven and three record a 1.71 earned run average that's the best dra among regular pitchers in the National League account even now one ball one strike Hammacher an 89 and a third innings has given up only 70 hits only 17 earned runs only two homers he has walked 14 that's another low figure and he has struck out 66 Rivera's will be followed by Jerry royster and then chris chambliss here's the two one delivery looped into shallow right center field back those the second baseman Brad welcome back so summer soft caption shadowlight center to take a base hit away from Rafael Ramirez young man covers some ground well he was very impressive in the series in Atlanta Ramirez had it taken away in a nice play by Brad Willman he covers a lot of ground the Braves had problems in Los Angeles also they weren't very lucky last night Ramirez missed by just a couple of inches of a two-run home run in the top of the second and then Glenn Hubbard was just off second base brace failed to complete a double play and LA went on to score two runs so brace hoping they can get a little lucky as well as being maybe a little better jerry Royster playing left field tonight batting 239 no homers four RBIs and he takes high and away ball one boy stur has hit in his last three games Bob Horner still sidelined by a bone spur problem and his left ankle that's a day-to-day thing they hope to get Bob back playing in time for the Houston series to know the count now on Jerry roister [Applause] Dodgers play at home tonight against Cincinnati Mario Soto against Bob Welch we'll keep you posted now that games doing two balls in a strike now on Westar after the check swing foul [Applause] 3:35 down the lines here at candlestick 400 feet to straightaway center 365 of the power alleys the ball carries well to the left into left scenter does not carry so well to right field or right center unless the wind blows out that way and it's not at the moment flyball pretty well the jet clocks going to get to it just shy of a warning track for out number two Wester hit it hard but Clark got to it two outs in the top of the first Chris Chambliss will step in Chambliss batting 267 seven homers 31 RBIs a left-hand batter against the left-hander Atlee hammaker throughout much of this season Joe Torre has been platooning Chris Chambliss and Bob Watson at first base but Chris is swinging such a hot bat at the moment four hits in his last five official trips that Joe just wants to keep him in there for the time being he takes a strike nothing in one [Applause] just underway in the top half of anyone [Applause] nobody on two men out and the one strike pitch to Chambliss lays to left field getting a little bit of a late jump in the ball was Jeff Leonard heat battle that one but made the catch and the inning is over Raines 2 down 1 2 3 in the top half of the first Atlanta nothing San Francisco coming up [Music] introducing the new front-wheel drive toyota camry it does not have a fireplace but it does have living room elbow room head room to room family room for families for a size above average the families would like to spread out there's lots of feet your feet lots of living room for anymore and a tough new engine with quick pickup and great mileage the new Toyota Camry not just the family car the family Camry this Bud's for everyone who answers the call when someone needs help [Music] just reuse that distinctively clean crisp taste it says Budweiser yes buzz for you Kari grant is a sitting duck for the charms of Leslie korone father goose Sunday morning on superstation WTBS bottom half of the first inning fastball for a sneaking his 13th start of the year for Atlanta he's 8 and 1 with a 2.80 are a he's allowed 25 earned runs and 70 hits and 80 in the third innings 18 walks 50 strikeouts Hammacher is having he's pitched and hits ratio has not walked many he's pitched two complete games he has one win against the Giants this year - and two against the lifetime shortstop Johnny lemaster leads it off to the Giants he's having a good year 284 3 homers 18 RBIs carries a five-game hitting streak into tonight's game [Music] Perez wines of the livers and this is high ball one tomorrow afternoon ken bailey just up from Richmond gets a start against Andy McAfee gin' Craig McMurtry pitches for the Braves in the Sunday afternoon game against Mike Krukow [Applause] master [Music] the count is 2 nothing for us through the fastball and it was up and in but it wasn't head high it was a brush back without question he knocked him off the play [Applause] Pascual ready now for his - oh pitch seats off to the third-base side down goes to two and one [Applause] Peraza captured the hearts of Atlanta fans driving around the city over and over again last year 26 years old here's as to one pitch grounded slowly toward short Rafael Ramirez will feel throw onto first in time [Applause] one gone bottom of the first now Tom O'Mally a good-looking young Blaire 296 with two homers 17 RBIs [Applause] he is only 22 years old he said safely in five straight games [Applause] Perez delivers a strike down the middle this is game number five in the season series between Atlanta and San Francisco back in Atlanta last weekend the four-game series was split they'll one on the way missing inside third-base umpire ed Montague says no swing one ball one strike the count [Applause] here comes the one one offering off the end of the bat file one and two it's really not too bad yet in Candlestick Park tonight a little bit on the cool side but the wind not blowing that much at the moment that is subject of course to change at any moment [Applause] got him with a fastball on the outside corner Tom O'Mally becomes the first strikeout victim of Perez out number two in the bottom half of the first now Darrell Evans who is red-hot batting 308 with 18 homers 44 RBIs he shares the home run lead with Dale Murphy and he has hit five home runs in his last five games including three in one game couple of days ago [Applause] a ball and no strikes the count on Darryl [Applause] no score bottom of the first bases empty two men out [Applause] and the 100 pitch is hit high in the air to shallow centerfield Murphy and Ramirez both going after it Rafael Ramirez the shortstop makes a fine running catch in shallow center he'll end the inning so as the Braves did in the top half of the inning the Giants go 1 2 3 in the bottom half we've played one in San Francisco no score it's not just a race it's a game they think I'm tired maybe they'll make their move then I'll make mine [Music] the best you found it in yourself and now you found it in the beer you drink [Music] Yankee Willie Randolph he does it all pro photographer Fred Conrad he catches it all with his cat nae one program so advanced to capture Willie sheer grace at second base so much camera to follow Willie in Sun or shade it's a snap to use the Canon AE one program so advanced it's simple cannon the official camera of the Atlanta Braves hello I like this Remington micro screen rechargeable shave us so much I bought the company it shaves as close as a blade or I'll give you your money back the first micro screen is so thin it shaves incredibly close the second even closer and Remington's american-made it cost less norelco is imported it costs much more they're running tonigh Chris green rechargeable shaver shaves as close as a blade or your money back and the lady remington rechargeable the perfect gift shaves without a cord top half of inning two it will be Dale Murphy Terry Harper and Randy Johnson do up against appellee Hammacher Hammacher one of many players on the San Francisco team that came over from the Kansas City Royals organization that was in the final blue trade back in March of last year Dale Murphy hitting 322 18 homers 53 RBIs at an eight game hitting streak stop last night by Alejandro Pena [Applause] inside corner nothing in life haffley Hammacher was the or is the son of a military man so he has gotten a lot of different places he can call home he was born in Carmel California graduated from high school in Alexandria Virginia now lives up in Tennessee attended East Tennessee State University on a basketball scholarship one on one the count here comes the 1 1 pitch the curve is grounded torch short flowmaster feels it cleanly on the first in time so Hammacher is retired foreigner o1 gone on the top of the second Terry Harper will step in are providing 267 3 homers 18 RBIs [Applause] this is such a contrast to come to San Francisco after you spend three days in Los Angeles with the pommy 85-degree weather shirtsleeve crowds one ball no strikes the count on our fur well it was pretty in the city today certainly a little windy out here on the point on the outside corner the count 1 of 1 [Applause] this may be the only ballpark in America wear a fur coat in June is apropos Garba for a ball game [Applause] here's the one one line into right field that's going to drop in for a base hit so Terry Harper becomes the first base runner at the night with a one-out single [Applause] and that'll bring up Randy Johnson who gets his first start of the year tonight Randy's done a good job off the bench hitting 357 five hits in 14 at-bats two of them doubles two RBIs he's been used almost exclusively as a pinch hitter this year he has had a couple of late inning defensive assignments but he gets the start tonight with Bob Horner on the sidelines of that ankle problem [Applause] Randee drove in Atlanta's only run last night with a single takes a strike on the outside corner Owen one well you know Randy wants to produce everybody wants to start he's really pretty excited tonight about it getting his first chance to start after so many games Harper the runner at first one man out and the one strike pitch on the way he's bunting down the third-base side good but Hammacher bobbles the ball everybody's going to be safe we'll wait for the official scorer to rule on that I don't know whether Hammacher would have had a play or not if he filled of that ball cleanly he might have had a play peep but he would have had to make a great pick up and throw and if I was scoring it I would call it a base hit Hammacher booted it there but that would have been a terrific play well I'm not scoring the game in the game Hammacher and error so Randy Johnson reaching on the error by the pitcher runners now first and second with one out for Glenn Hubbard up at 271 three homers 23 RBIs he's been in a bit of a slump only three hits in his last 26 hit Pat's his average has fallen from over the 300 bar to its current 271 [Applause] grounded slowly toward second up to the cleanly as well mandala master for one the first not in time uber beats the rap there so Aviles a46 force play with Terry Harper advancing to third runners now first and third with two outs for the catcher Bruce Benedict [Applause] Benedict batting 297 one homerun 16 RBIs this is a ballpark that Bruce Benedict has fared very well in in his career he has hit 11 home runs in his major league career and four of them have been here at candlestick and now we'll see how the Giants played if you're a Braves fan you want to see them pitch to Benedict because even though Bruce's been in a slump the base it means a run and you have a top-notch pitcher and Perez Bruce in one of those very aggravating type of slumps he's 1 for his last 21 but he's hit the ball very hard all during that time just White had people the guy that's in a slump defeat all slumps his San Francisco outfielder chili Davis he's out of the lineup again tonight he is 4 for his last 63 you wouldn't think a guy who is a switch hitter and can run and as power would get into that desperate a slump that really that's a wail of a slump there's the oh one pitch stares the ball one ball one strike Thank You Pete if you'll recall they bench chili Davis in the last game of the four-game series in Atlanta last week they feel now that his batting slump is affecting his fielding so tonight max Venable gets the start in center field [Applause] here's the one one two benedict pot foul right side it'll drop out of play the count goes to one and two [Applause] a lot of Braves fans here tonight from all over the place we have already been presented with pineapples from Hawaii canned salmon from Sitka Alaska we really do have a lot of fans and they were out very early we've got to the ballpark about 5:15 5:30 and they're a whole bunch of race fans here the salmon courtesy of the disels and the HUD nets from Sitka Alaska they planned their vacation in the San Francisco area to coincide with a Braves trip here [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] racing engines run hot oil treatment lights the check or money order 1-800 two five seven one two three four call now there are some of those Braves fans who are telling you about bottom half of the second inning Jack Clark max Venable Jeff Leonard do up against pasquale Perez Marketing 251 10 homers 30 runs driven in he's it safely in four straight games first pitch low an outside ball one [Applause] nothing nothing game bottom and filling two the way has popped up high in the air left side third baseman Randy Johnson in foul territory but bringing it back a little bit but it's still a foul ball on caught by Johnson for the album [Applause] one gone in the second max Venable will step in Pete you saw it happened on that plate Bob Watson told me tonight he'd been talking with some of the Giants and said one there last night games here like that and the ball was blown all the way to second base and had to be caught then he said you're gonna see some crazy things maybe tonight if the wind picks up when dat the Monmouth though is still it's blowing but not very hard it's kind of a crosswind now from right field across to left Venable at 202 four home runs 16 RBIs playing in place of the slump written Sheila Davis [Applause] they have built a new batting cage here at Candlestick Park right outside the visitor's dressing room and as the Braves arrived today chili Davis was heading for that batting cage with Giants hitting instructor Hanks our centerfield Murphy should handle this one and does for out number two so Ferraz has now retired five in a row and Jeff Leonard will step in [Applause] just getting back into the lineup tonight he's missed a couple of weeks Friday 249 with four homers 20 RBIs [Applause] Perez going for his ninth win of the season in tonight's game [Applause] Dave dravec II of San Diego the only pitcher in the National League was won nine so far this year [Applause] there's a strike in the outside corner [Applause] another guy going for his ninth win tonight is Mario sotto wish him all the success in the world against the Dodgers you know we've kidded about all the great averages in Albuquerque over the years combined by the young Dodgers first this pitch nothing into Jeff Leonard of course came up in the Dodger organization and in his last year in Albuquerque before being traded to Houston he had 365 and he had a love at homers 93 RBIs and 36 stolen bases then he hit very well for Euston for one year and really has never approached it I think about 294 Houston is best year I know to pitch on the way from Pasquale perez to jeff leonard and it misses loan away 1 & 2 of course the Giants play 81 games a year in this park so they're used to the conditions it's tough on the visiting teams coming in here especially when you come from warm weather like we have in Los Angeles the one-two pitch got him with a beautiful changeup fastball Perez records his second strikeout and record his second straight 1-2-3 inning we've completed two at Candlestick it's still the phrase nothing and the Giants nothing CNN news night now no matter where you live in the country CNN has live primetime news for you while the East Suites or West is making news and you'll see at first on news 9 for top stories hottest Hollywood news and late night stores news other people will read about in tomorrow's papers CNN news 9 anchored from Los Angeles in that last now the West has its own live primetime Network news program late at night you can feel a new sensation it's electrifying magnified night tracks 6 solid hours of today's hottest video music performed by your favorite recording stars [Music] all of those and the beat goes on night tracks tonight superstation WTBS this society has passed a law along that enforces quickly completely there are night 451 that's followed by Robert Mitchum and Jack Lemmon rather quest I am their partners who share more than just a love of the see Rita Hayworth stars and fire down below great movies Saturday on superstation WTBS cables most popular network the overnight hits of yours on WTBS for the best in video music entertainment turn to night trucks all night long it's coming tonight immediately after the game night tracks on superstation WTBS and we go to the top half of the third basketball for Rafael Ramirez Gary Royster they left against definitely a MacArthur scoreless ballgame Perez on the year 129 no homers two RBIs he is perhaps the only player in the national league whether there are runners on base or not you can say let's see if he's bunting and Tom O'Mally is playing about 10 feet in front of third-base he was wearing for a walk there then took the pitch for a strike at the outside corner all in one really likes to but he's a good Bunter he runs very well yes he does Frank Robinson pitched to Benedict with first and third two out they got him now they have to put your lead off the inning that's the other side that curveball missed in the count even one and one Hammacher with a good fastball at good curveball [Applause] here's the one one punched foul off to the right the count goes to 1 & 2 now with two strikes O'Malley moves back even with third base before he was well lit on the grass as if it was a sacrifice situation now you see him back just about even with the back and the one-two pitch on the way now to Perez he's budding this time drops it down the third-base side o Malley's throw on the first bounces by Darrell Evans Perez heads for second Jack Clark boots the ball trying to pick it up for as round second but now we'll go back [Applause] so even with two strikes Pasquale Perez who loves to bunt drops one down that line has himself a hit he goes to second on the error isn't that something here is Huckle bunting and remember O'Malley was back he had been in a massage before and and so the Braves now have a great chance to grab the first run of the game and Perez on second base with no one out and the batter Rafael Ramirez the shortstop who popped out to second his first time Wellman making a somersault catch out in Channel right centerfield to Rob Rafi of it time called while basketball Perez dons a jacket down at second base well the conservative way to play this is have Ramirez hit a ground ball to the right side or bunt move them over he wears it's 285 Jack of course you know what happens he won't stop at home they'll continue running back up the first basically undoubtedly there are some fans in the ballpark who do not know the Perez story about i-285 and they've got to wonder what in the world that means yeah I think you ought to explain that because they're also people watching all over the country who don't know it i 285 visible pitch - Rafi has popped up again into shallow right field waiting for this one they'll make the catch for at second i 285 as the perimeter basketball got lost last year you see those flags balls in centerfield the wind blowing from right field across toward left picking up a little bit now we're on the top after the 3rd Perez at 2nd one out and Jerry Rice to the batter Ramirez did try to go to the right side and move him over but unfortunately he popped it up unfortunately if you're brave and very fortunately if you're a Giants fan Wester flied to deep right his first time strikes for those who don't know what perimeter is that's a Beltway for expressway anyway his circular goes all the way around Atlanta and basketball just did not know where to get off we went around it a few times three times three times five BOTS say this is my second year in Atlanta I've made a few wrong turns myself the Atlanta roads are under construction all the time there are a lot of cars on it's easy to do yes - nothing to counter oyster bouncing ball up the middle second baseman Wellman nice but who was right throws on the first in time for Reza passes to third [Applause] so once again the Braves have moved a runner over to third they have owners first and third in the second inning couldn't get the run in under ten let's say if Chris Chambliss gets lit for a two-out hit Chambliss flied to left his first time [Music] [Applause] while understanding the situation Chris not really happy about being platoons he's got to be elated to be in the lineup tonight against a left-hander Chris feels he hits lefties as well as he hits right-handers the curve has taken logo on [Applause] Perez our third good idea there just how much Atlee hammaker curveball breaks one on one the gap [Applause] here comes the one one fish chambliss seeing a steady diet of Hamaker curves here in the third [Applause] from the lineup the one-two pitch on the way another curve is miss love an outside 2 & 2 the on-deck hitter Dale Murphy [Applause] campus nothing but curveballs regards a second strikeout and once again ends the inning with a runner stranded a third no runs one hit one error one left we've gone two and a half we're still scoreless Braves nothing Giants nothing [Music] [Music] you've got it that's your secure confident feeling because each sure gives you enough protection to help feel drive all day [Music] this Bud's for everyone who takes on the heavy loads for you Oh [Music] yeah just for you that distinctively clean crisp taste that says Budweiser [Music] Saturday blast off with the Challenger joined CNN as the space shuttle rockets to the stars follow the progress of the first American woman in space and the long arm of technology you can see CNN live shots of the Challenger from liftoff to touchdown on the news channels CNN bottom half of the third we'll see the bottom third of the order due up to the Giants milkmaid Brandt Wellman an athlete Hammacher there as a little late arriving to the mound he was on base when the inning ended so he still has a couple of warm-up tosses to go in fact he has a couple more than he shouldn't have to go he got all the way out to the mound and realized he had not taken off his batting glove yet tough to pitch that way 263 [Music] he has the reputation of being a first ball fastball hitter the brave pitcher beer [Applause] they start him off of the fastball but mean slow an outside ball one [Applause] no score bottom half of an entry [Applause] that evens the count on May 1 and 1 [Applause] now the one one on the way popped foul right back this way into the seats below us it goes to one and two [Applause] [Applause] Perez acquired of course from Pittsburgh last year for Larry McWilliams [Applause] he's a good one [Applause] here's the 1 2 pitch filed away still wanted to Perez one of those rare pitchers most pitchers that you see go out on the mound are very businesslike about the way they perform their job but Pasquale displays a lot of personality out of the mouth [Applause] it has become a real favorite of the Atlanta fans here's the 1 2 pitch fouled again it's days want to do [Applause] hips and Joe Torre Bob Watson [Applause] in the jackets alongside the Braves dugout [Applause] again the one to dismiss hide inside 2 & 2 the count [Applause] Jill Tori's counterpart with San Francisco is Frank Robinson whose team has not been playing that well lately they're now right at 531 and 31 they're 10 and a half games behind the Dodgers [Applause] 2 & 2 the count and milkmaid rounded to the right side nice backhand played by Chambliss to Flores who can't hang on to the throw at first and they will be safe there that'll probably go as an error on the pitcher Pasquale Perez and the Braves have had this happened to them far too often of late it happened to Perez that was back home on the last home stand and Chambliss a good feed and Perez dropped it as he was looking for the bag oddly enough milk may does not run very well and Perez could have caught the ball bread baskets down then just trotted over to first base he could have stopped running as a matter of fact and caught it the air will be on the pitcher Pasquale Perez may becomes the runner at first Brad Willman will be the batter [Applause] well then another youngster out of the Kansas City Royals organization hitting 250 with a homer and four RBIs and he may just be the guide is going to solve the Giants second base problem [Music] they start at the air with Dwayne Piper at second of course Joe Morgan left the ballclub signed with the Phillies this year but Piper is on the disabled list and will be probably until after the all-star break Wellman is doing a fine job filling in [Applause] they're in the third inning in Los Angeles no score between Cincinnati of the Dodgers that's a foul ball with a runner going they will return the first account oh and one twin copper was an excellent second baseman with Cleveland and then he suffered a severe in the injury in the game with the Boston Red Sox involved a rundown play and he's never regained the speed that he once had that could very well be that Wellman is the second baseman for the Giants future and kuipers a guy has a left hand baton can fill in get some basics for you [Applause] : 1 - Gavin Brandt Wellman [Applause] couple of finals in the National a Pittsburgh beat the Phillies today 2-1 st. Louis beat the cup 7 2 Q stand lead San Diego to nothing after four Cincinnati had Los Angeles there in the third time nothing nothing and in the sixth inning in Montreal the Expos leave the New York Mets 5-1 [Applause] to life American Lake California shutout Toronto 3 nothing Boston beat Baltimore 5-3 Detroit over Cleveland 11 for the Yankees beat Milwaukee 7 to Kansas City top Seattle 3-1 both on the Chicago tied 3-3 as they go to the 9th [Applause] two balls in a strike the count on Brandt Wellman nobody out may the runner at first being held by Chambliss [Applause] throw over maybach safely may as yet the Stila face this year he has typical catchers speed he's going in the pitches stop a second base as Harper is up to the ball quickly and gets it back to the infield de fer San Francisco hit of the game a line drive single to right by Wellman puts runners at first and second with nobody out for the pitcher Atlee hammaker [Applause] Hammacher ball probability will be funding here is a 118 hitter there's one RBI and feed in a similar situation in Atlanta I'm gonna try to button Bunim to double play the next time you try to bunny struck out both times he was bunting with a man on base see if he gets the bunt down here that would be the surprise of the year if he doesn't bunt first and second and no one out in a scoreless game bottom of the third Randy Johnson creeping in for third base Hammacher is wearing and backs away from an inside baseball no runs two hits one error for Atlanta no runs one hit two errors for the Giants all these meetings that you see take place on the mound now it'll pass ball four and know exactly what the coverage is going to be different ways you can play this you can either have the third baseman stay back and cover the bag of third that will not be the case this time as Randy Johnson is coming away in a third base that means the shortstop Ramirez will be responsible for covering third the thought is foul and the count one at that time they had Randy Johnson from third base running home to cover the bunt Chambliss had to stay back at first because Glenn Hubbard is trying to hold the runner on at second base Ramirez the shortstop is going over to third and if you wonder well is there a drawback looks like a great way to get a force play at third well there is one if the batter swings away and hits a ground ball anywhere up the middle hit a base it there is no shortstop and there is no second baseman [Applause] one-on-one the count looks like the Braves are going to cover again with Johnson charging and Ramirez [Applause] I fetched a hammock area gets the bunt down the first base side Perez will put the Chambliss in time advanced so Hammacher gets the job done this time with a one free sacrifice Welman moves to second milk Mei moves to third that was one out the batter obeyed johnny lemaster who grounded out to short his first time [Applause] but when you're having problems small things really hurt the Bray's would have had a run if Ramirez had been able to move for us over to third base and roast his ground ball would have scored a run and the Giants would have had almost no rally at all at Flores it simply caught Chambliss toss in the opening play of the inning the master takes outside [Applause] Jonnie Lemaster for many years with the Giants such a loving the pastor had such a low batting average he was hitting almost every game in the number 8 spot in the order is now their leadoff hitter and doing a good job at 284 coming into this game 1 on a weight program in the offseason trying to get little stronger and it apparently paid off [Applause] [Music] the meeting over Tori back to the Atlanta dugout [Music] well master will step back in with a count of one ball no strikes [Applause] [Music] milt may leads off third Brandt Wellman a second and the 100 pitch is filed away the master still wearing that henkle guard [Applause] he was wearing that in Atlanta obviously he's been filing some off that foot Bruce Benedict's been wearing a similar piece of equipment for Atlanta [Applause] there's the one-line spike took off the inside corner Perez ahead in the count now one ball two strikes [Applause] we've got the all-star game coming up on the 6th of July and Perez and Hammacher the two starting pitchers in tonight's game may very well be a part of that all-star pitching staff Perez were the best 1 loss percentage in the Lake Hammacher with the best earned run average in the leg among the starters they've got the credentials [Applause] the one to fish first baseman pressed chaplets into foul territory he's got room and makes the catch the runners will hold at second and third so there's a big second out in the bottom half of the third Perez one out away from getting out of this mess and after throwing Lemaster harson Perez came back with a curveball master was bull he popped it up it was a good pitch by Pasquale Tom O'Mally who looked at a third strike his first time up [Applause] well when the runner at second May the runner at third with two outs now [Applause] Perez delivers [Applause] the San Francisco Giants trainer is coming out I guess it must have hit him but to be honest with you from up here it did not look like that pitch touched him at all no it did not we're gonna see the replay Benedick just blocked it to hit him and hit him on my foot but on the bone on the side of the foot [Music] so Tom O'Mally I think that left foot examined [Applause] by a Giants trainer Perry Archibald [Applause] and we'll see if he'll be able to stay in the game or not he's getting back to his feet now testing the left foot but we still don't know whether he's gonna try to stay in the ball game that's like he wants to of course when you get hit with a pitch here at Candlestick Park in a night game it's a little different they all hurt but it's a cold in this ballpark it just marks a little more when you get struck by a pitch here and it is getting cold in this ballpark Oh Elmo is going to be okay that's good POSCO for us as the bases-loaded two-out and he faces the hottest hitter this side of Dale Murphy [Applause] popular player at Candlestick this year look at the crowd reaction as Evan steps in [Applause] for RBIs in fact one of the complaints Frank Robinson has about his ballclub at the moment is he says the only games we've been winning are the games that Darrell Evans is hitting home runs in we need some help from some other people but ill take some help from evans right here if he can bases-loaded two outs from the stretch and the pitch to Evans is a strike in the inside corner Lenny Harris [Applause] it was a breaking ball [Applause] nothing nothing game bottom of the third bases-loaded two outs and a one strike pitch on the way to Evans O'Malley at first wellman at second may at third [Applause] and the 1 1 pitch on the way [Applause] well here comes a great hit his pitch two balls one strike and the bases loaded and you know that Oswald needs to get this pitch over the fight the catalyst to anyone whereas taking a little time [Applause] suicide I steps off the rubber go to one on the way to corner Evanston like Oh while Perez took something off this let's see if it has the plate it does have the plate and it's above the knees this that's just a dandy fish by Perez gets that change up really the hands on the inside corner they have a lot of the inside corner - that wasn't just painted on the black the letters lead from first second third and the 2 2 pitch gets away from Benedict ranking from their dismay evil stores but nothing San Francisco and we'll go as a wild pitch charged to Pascal Alvarez and the count now Fulham Evans three and two it was a 2-2 pitch and it was in the dirt and it happened to hit the dirt and stay down and get through Benedict the ball didn't hop up if it hadn't Bruce would have knocked it down so the Giants are on the board with a none now the payoff pitch to Evans he spoke about with a fastball Evans out on strikes and a good job of pitching my fastball Perez even though that to run to score for the Giants on one hit his lung possibly Atlanta area a couple of runners left we've completed three with our score Giants one raise nothing [Music] covering Jerry Pate is a super opportunity for a photographer if I win this tournament I'm gonna make you a favor I counted on my candidate you want program with all the features of pro wants to capture all the sides of pâtés game now it's your turn I told you I was gonna make you famous yeah you won program makes the toughest shots simple the canon AE one program so advanced it's simple cannon the official camera of the Atlanta Braves but me I think the best way you can have fun in the silica is to leave it just the way it is been driving around town as slow as you can Wow the biggest game is hard today the whole town's got a part to play but the hard work you do makes a kid's dream come true and there's something big waiting for you [Music] we have played three innings here at Candlestick Park for the Giants one run one hit two errors to the Braves no runs two hits one error top after the 4th inning we'll see Dale Murphy Terry Harper and Randy Johnson new up for Atlanta against Atlee hammaker I mean to tell y'all about it Mears John sterling okay feet one nothing Giants for us really fits very well out of the jam without the Wow pitch on the 2 2 count could have been out without a run [Applause] jeweled youngblood I believe has gone in to play third base now he's just tried it on the field so O'Malley cannot go any longer after being hit by the transmission and joy Youngblood goes in there you see him the ex met and Expo goes into plate Thursdays [Applause] the wind is beginning to whip up much stronger and it's getting very very cold here time Giants have a promotional gimmick it's both a promotional gimmick and also try to drum up support for a dome Stadium somewhere at downtown if you have a if you have a ticket stub if you pay to see a game and you stay around to the end of an Extra Innings night game you are awarded the Kawada candlestick and we just had that message up on the board people come out here just the way people normally dress for football games and in November in December indeed it's a lot warmer here in October in November in the summertime a tale Murphy leaves off the fourth inning for the Braves Braves threatened did not score last inning against Hammacher who has knee RA of 1.71 [Applause] accidentally hit up the middle welven fires to first base in time there's one away you see Atlee hammaker smiling there but he would have been smiling at Murphy at Venus tap right back toward the mound Hammacher who falls off a little toward third on his delivery just couldn't get to the ball Murphy hustling all the way but Wellman is able to throw him out one down [Applause] one of the great statistics on Hammacher he's walked only 14 men in well now it's over at 90 innings jolt to right-center field that's going to go all the way we'll get at least a double now it's fumbled an we'll get a triple it is fumbled in center field by Venable and Harper's at third the tying run with one out top row and a line drive single to right field his first time up hit a jolt to right center and the ball had a tail on it and kept tailing away from Venable this is a tough part of the ballpark to hit the ball that far in well not only doesn't carry that well to right-center field but Terry guess it's one of those low-lying drives that cuts into that wind see what happens to Venable when he gets out here he tried to get that ball before it got to the fence had he played that ball off the carom he might have been able to hold Terry to a double I believe they're going to call it a double and an error on Venable Matt on third time right here the Johnson's strike one I believe that's how this gory I didn't see the the heiress on Gil up go get me the scoring a bit later on we'll get it officially I've only posted the hit so it might be a triple all the way [Applause] Giants have pulled the infield in to cut off this run and Randy takes down low 1 & 1 let's give Harper a triple to center field he's at third with one out Randy Johnson looking down to dal maxvill is flashing all the signs well here's where if your player doesn't get to play much you can really make some points with your manager if you can get this runner home [Applause] fouled at the plate 1 & 2 Randi reached on an error his first time up that was the bunt they might have given him a hit on that the next error was the throwing error made by O'Malley those are the two giant errors and they haven't posted another one so I guess Harper does have a triple he's no Venables that kick it around in center field one nothing San Francisco top of the fourth one out the tying run at third curveball bounced over the mound hopper has to play it safe [Applause] Randy Johnson small things are really hurting the Braves last night Greta we just came off second base a fraction too soon resulted in two runs tonight Pasquale dropped Chambliss throat resulted in a run also the wild pitch with a 2 a 2 count the Braves unable to move for us over 2/3 they didn't score on a ground ball now with one out the brace failed to get heartburn from third we'll see if Hubbard will get the two-out hit to tie the game strike his call [Applause] they asked for help the first base umpire Lee Weyer and he says Hubbard did not go so the counts 1 & 1 [Applause] oh there's our little below on the board fact the candlestick hey guys [Applause] one one is it why great stop but there won't be a play at all RBI single for Glenn Hubbard there's a great stuff Darrell Evans and Hammacher violated the cardinal rule of pitches when it's hit to the right side break for first Basin Pete Evans made a great play and he had no one to throw to and let's see if we can see Evans reaction here when he looks up for making this great play and sees no athlete Hammacher he gets up in his feet ready to make a throw Hammacher is not there where were you hath li badly knows it was his fault it's a 1-1 ballgame so that may be the break that turns the tide for Atlanta the New York Yankees once lost a World Series on account of that right hand pitcher named Jim coach did not cover first base quickly on a ball to the right side and a couple of hours later the name house Smith in a home run for the Pirates before my time was skip told me about it yeah fits my fish Benedict it's a fly ball to right field Clark coming in and he makes the catch Glenn Hubbard had the RBI single now the Braves get a run on two is at the end of three and a half the Braves won and the Giants won imagine winning the World Series four years in a row or the Super Bowl pretty tough to do well Eastern's won a championship four straight times the airline championship so the fourth year in a row we've flown more passengers than any other airline in the free world more than United American or TWA that's earning your wings so next trip fly with Eastern and fly with the chantry this is big red the Honda ATC built especially for work with its three fat tires big red ghosts are near anywhere like this with its powerful four-stroke engine and dual range transmission big red pulls like this and with its standard front and rear rack big red totes like this maybe so [Music] Monday put some laughter in your day with the TBS afternoon movie when Jerry Lewis runs into trouble wherever he goes in the family jewels then on Tuesday morning Betty Davis and Mary Astor are at war with each other in the great lie and on Tuesday afternoon Michael Caine is a spy who becomes the target of a sinister double agent in the Ipcress file the TBS daytime movies only on superstation WTBS you see the gentlemen now he's covered up anyway Ken dayley there he is Ken dayley he has the chart and he'll be pitching tomorrow the young left-hander just called up from Richmond and he'll face and EEMA Gaffigan tomorrow sitting next to Craig McMurtry and Terry Forrester Pete you talked to Joe Toria what if they're brave scouts say about daily how how was he pitching in how well has he been pitching lately lately is the key with Ken dayley first the pitch to Jack Clark Clark leaves off and takes down low ball one Braves have even didn't one one on the triple by Harper and base it by Glenn Hubbard daily of course didn't get the pitch much in spring training he had a little arm trouble then [Applause] spirits gone and just like that the Giants lead to one Clark gets number 11 and his 31st RBI over the left-field wall [Music] and he is starting to get hot with that bat that gives him a five-game hitting streak his average when the Giants were in Atlanta last week was in the two thirties is now up over 250 is beginning to swing a good bat for the Giants a bad pitch down around the knees Park went down to get it here's my expendable San Francisco takes a 2-1 lead bottom on the 4th Venable takes up live long now back to daily daily had a nine and three record at Richmond at the key is his last four starts all complete games including a shutout so he appeared to be right back in the beam the last couple of weeks or so strike his call the report on Tom O'Mally has a bruise dark change twisted ankle he got hit hard and then I guess twisted his ankle as he was trying to get out of the way [Applause] [Music] Glenn Hubbard to Chambliss there's one away while the Braves would love to have a left hand started like jelly become a regular part of the rotation and be able to support startling bring beat Falcone in and relief that's that gives great balance to the pitching staff I think also Rick beheading going down to Richmond is good for Rick Mahina it's really not a demotion for Rick although paper wise the days are going from the major leagues triple-a but all they want Rick the header to do is to pitch in the rotation regularly and he'll do that at Richmond but he'll be back he has a lot of ability it's just fouled off by jeff leonard the head of throws well as a good change and has kind of a bulldog attitude he really could be a fine young starting pitcher for the braves soon [Applause] count on Jeff blended his Owen won he struck out his first time to one Giants here in the bottom of the fourth [Applause] fast balls inside ball one no really up-to-the-minute report on nook seat still bothered a bit by the hamstring boy I guess the Braves hope that he'll fish in Houston they tentatively scheduled him for Tuesday night against the Astros 1 & 2 now [Applause] Jack Clark in the middle without the Hat Giants are 8 in 1 when Clark has homework if Clark and Evans are together and you figure chili Davis looks great now have a pretty good hitting ballclub great stat on Clark Eve plays all the time he's a good right fielder with a fine arm he's made one error in the outfield in 60 games that's pretty good for us ready for the to-to-to Leonard coughs Leonard a strikeout victim for the second time that's number four on the night for Pascua [Applause] Pascual a little upset by that homerun by Jack Clark I'm sure he had a little extra on that fastball and here's Milton a who started all the trouble for the Giants last inning may hit the ground ball to the right side Chambliss made a nice backhand pick up and foot to Perez who tried to reach the bag while trying to catch the ball took his eye off it and dropped it and that era ultimately cost Perez a run [Applause] hit on the grotto Glennis plenty of time so clark homers and the Giants get a run on a hit no one left at the end of core the score the Giants two and Atlanta want take a closer look and you'll see that the front-wheel drive isn't the only great thing about this Toyota Tercel it's just the tip of the iceberg this Tercel is the lowest price Toyota you can buy it has more room than any subcompact and gives you more mileage than ever before the new Toyota Tercel a new standard in front-wheel drive but that's just the tip of the the ladies they're all crooks and the ladies all have eyes for him if you're waiting for the big finale I'm sorry this is all I do Leslie korone Cary Grant father goose Sunday on superstation WTBS everybody up for the kickoff people come ready for the candlestick weather here Pasquale Perez leads off the fifth and bounces it slowly to Hammacher karakurt Perez beat out a bunt to Tom O'Mally his first time who then was playing third O'Malley threw it away and Perez agreed second you know why it gets so cold at Candlestick Park dungeon why because there are so many giant fans I can't believe you told that on national television well here is Rafael Ramirez I guess the cold is getting to van we're in [Music] which is up high you know women the Dodgers were fighting to get that referendum passed to get those acres of land in Chavez Ravine the Giants had no trouble at all getting this pasture this immoral yes and people still wonder why that happened there a lot of a lot of theories many of them have not been printed lavertus fouls it off one and one but anyway they built it in the wrong area and then they thought that to keep the football team here the 49ers they will double check the outfield which they did it would cut off the wind and it did not now the Giants are trying to get him a dome ballpark downtown [Applause] chased after Aloha Chanukah fish Atlee hammaker has excellent control not just in walks and strikeouts to me he certainly has great control there buddy he keeps the ball low he has good control of this it just doesn't throw it down the fight follow the wind taking that to the stands and and there's sue away Ernie Johnson the birthday boy of skip carrier will be over here on television after this happening over the radio [Applause] and with two outs here's Jerry royster Ernie's not having another birthday today it's gonna say that year went binary I directed Tom Smith says he's 38 today that's right that's right [Applause] Reister is over two and he is this one fairly well to right field Clark is right there it's a 1-2-3 inning for nothing across to the Braves at the end of four and a half the score the Giants to Atlanta [Music] [Music] these beautiful moments were made possible by head and shoulders the shampoo for the two of you [Music] thunderbird from a new school of automotive design that brings new form into the function of driving a new look a new aerodynamic shape which helps stability handling integrity on the road this new school defines the difference between riding behind the wheel and driving the new school of automotive design is called Thunderbird pure Thunderbird have you driven a Ford lately the revolution was a lost cause until a gun-running America ran into trouble robert mitchum nvo rides Saturday on superstation WTBS Johnson with you now as we go to the bottom of the fifth in a 2-1 game with the Giants on top and the bottom of their order will hit Brad Wellman and the pitcher Atlee hammaker and then the leader Johnny Lemaster line score on the game one four and one [Applause] Welman leads it off as you saw from that youngster it's a bit brisk air in candlestick Ernie's got a sweater sports coat and I've been here before rookie announcers sometimes forget to bring her sweater strange so you hear what I told [Music] 4:05 no the cops we came over here skips that it's real cold over here the radio goes it's just fairly cold only about it 18 degrees in the radio booth here it's hit below looks at a slider of the outside edge it's 2 & 1 he ripped the single to right his first time the Dodgers and Red's scoreless after four turn and Mario Soto working against Bob Welch and the to wonder the young second baseman had it right off his thumbs to Randy Johnson throws gets it one day so Wellman is retired and the pitcher Atlee hammaker wrote that he sacrificed his first time some great Braves fans from back in Atlanta Denis and Suzan money to root for the branch tonight in the wall first family from Dunwoody also will [Applause] Hammacher is hitting at 118 for the year he bats right-handed which is somewhat unusual for a southpaw pitcher breaking ball for a strength there's some managers that simply will not allow a pitcher to do that because his pitching elbow is exposed to the plate go right up to the pitcher tomorrow I want to those accounts Burroughs deliver slider low and away a ball into strengths the strain combination very seldom see people baseball players throw lefty and bat right in facts a good trivia question trying to name about ten or even five and it's hard [Applause] the one to picture it is so I'm not looking Buster down so Hammacher is out of there and johnny Lemaster will hit he's also - he's bounced to short he popped to first [Applause] well they've both had some fielding problem [Applause] burro's have it third inning he'll never forget he grabbed the throw at first base [Applause] he hit a batter running through a wild pitch to account for I am occurs failure to cover first base on a ground ball off the bat of Hubbard Hubbard we zoned it in the Atlanta run [Applause] what happens if you heat up a Budweiser you get a new drink here's the pitch curve swung at mr. Zelman one [Applause] two out nobody aboard bottom of the fifth [Applause] they bump sit down the third-base line but foul and he's hold on to when we go to the six then the Braves come to the plate it will be Chambliss Murphy and Harper so the heart of the order will be up there for vada [Applause] and the O 2 pitch forthcoming to Johnny lemaster check swing pop fly Chambliss gifts chase he's not going to get there so the count stays Owen too we have these finals to report for the Pirates beat the Phillies 2-1 100 big league game Cardinals 7 to over the Cubs the Yankees beat Milwaukee 7 to 2 tried 11 4 over Cleveland Toronto 6 California 3 Dave Steve his 10th win of the year first major league pitcher to win 10 the White Sox beat Oakland he's 6-3 to master [Applause] Kansas City 3-1 over Seattle in Texas beat Minnesota 10:1 ricany cut won his ninth game of the year appalling two strikes the count two out nobody aboard we're in the bottom of the fifth from the Giants lead it 2-1 just missed with a fastball outside to him to Perez a very animated performer out there [Applause] and he has cut down on that they tell us from when he's with the pirate organisation he never tries to show anybody up but he just plays with green enthusiasm the 2 2 pitch here it is just messed with the curve and he's run at full mana to Joel Youngblood would be next [Applause] so a payoff pitch to Johnny lemaster [Applause] chaos is on the way [Applause] wastrel master is first walk in the night so young lad will stand it you know why hitting 234 where's 11 RBI Youngblood had a home run off Braves pitching in this series in Atlanta [Applause] the wind continues to swirl and change directions here [Applause] Perez will work off the stretch has issued his first pass of the night Youngblood waits and misses the breaking ball snap throw to first runner back pretty close play down there the master could try to steal a base here he has good running speed [Applause] they chase Lemaster back a couple of times [Applause] going it's slow now he tries to get back and done there he went a third of the way to second base then slammed on the brakes Benedict started to throw it a second by the time he righted himself the master had scampered back so no harm done and the count even to the ball on a strength Youngblood hit his home run off Pascal Perez at the launching pad not this time that wouldn't be a home run in a phone booth Romero's weights the inning is over Perez survives the two-hour block no hits no runs no errors one left we go to the sixth from the Giants lead it two to one [Music] this Olympic champions feature is sponsored by Bell yellow pages winner of three golds and a silver medal at Tokyo Czech gymnast Vera Kozlowski will try to improve on that incredible more than 20 hours of fact-filled sports news every week if you're not receiving cable news network contact your cable operator today and Chris Chambliss leads off the sixth inning for Atlanta's line to left and struck out Chambliss Murphy and Harper in the sixth good fast strength of the outside edge last time all Chambliss saw was curveball so Hammacher starts him with a good long fastball this fact vo one touch sale [Applause] those guys aren't playing with a full deck elevator doesn't stop at every floor back up the middle but Wellman moves to his right who throws him out one away hit it off the end of the map Chambliss is retired and Dale Murphy with it Mercy's bounced to shorten on a check swing had a little dribbler to second he's also too [Music] he's--oh for his last nine [Applause] around hard left indeed now is a beach ball that you see bounces on the field and is confiscated by the bath many of the patrons ooh [Applause] those strengths [Applause] Dianne's have only two hits but they also have the lead it's two to one in the sixth carry to it battling the wind Clark in Wellman out it's going to be Clark today so Murphy is out of there and it is the hitting hero for Atlanta tonight Terry Harper was single tripled and scored the Atlanta run [Applause] the triple was Terry's first to the year he's raised his average to 282 bread's literally farm club got beat tonight 92 by Charleston Joe Collier is now three and five [Applause] blow one ball no strikes Hammacher this is his 13th start of the area's completed four he has to shut up so he has been a quality pitcher since day one especially here where he three and uh [Applause] Chinese three out of three Harper rips one to center with two out [Applause] and Randy Johnson will back his sacrifice reached on an error that was on one play and is bounced too short I think you'd love to pitch here many hitters on the cold weather hate to bat here so you're the warmest one out there you put a little well on your shoulder heat up hot stuff as they call it and you're probably the most comfortable player there so pictures I'm sure like the picture [Applause] I chose Hartford back I don't know a single ballplayer [Applause] dinner who likes to play [Applause] there has been some talks on municipal council in san francisco's they've commissioned a feasibility study for just abandoning this place in building a new ballpark downtown where the weather is 20 degrees warmer [Applause] that's a very very costly undertaking they've improved this place there was a time when it was open in center field you thought that undertow is going to take you right out to the water on the town [Applause] unfortunately when they closed it in I thought that was going to solve the entire problem and it did not as it turns out the ballpark should never have been built here in the first place [Applause] boy he was just about picked off there he was leaning in the wrong direction all right it's a cute move by Hammacher and he doesn't really have a a great move to first base yet he's developing it he's still young but he took a short step that time almost got it a ball and a strength account I don't know if that was a pitch out or not if it was he certainly didn't throw the ball very hard Piper at first two down or in the sixth and it's 2-1 Giants Perez and Hammacher matched up here and as you might expect it's been a good pitchers do two balls and a strike they might put something on now backs both looking into the dugout wouldn't mind seeing Harper go [Applause] hit and run Terry has good running speed although Milt may pretty good and receiver back they're not highly publicized but he gets the job done Giants are thinking the way Ernie is they again traced the runner back [Applause] fastball just missed lowing away 3 and 1 the count of walk brings the potential tying run into scoring position 4 [Applause] Johnson takes a look at peanuts maxvill is third-base coach [Applause] our lead in the 3-1 pitch instead to first this is another pit chicken run on gotta get it over [Applause] and three one to Johnson here it is there he goes outside and to Iran with two out [Applause] that is the first walk of the night for amateur and only is 15th of the year here's Hubbard one for two an RBI an infield hit that plated the only Atlanta run back in the fourth [Applause] Bob needs a confidence builder he needs a good game he's been in a batting slump six for his last 44 but he did pick up an RBI with I didn't feel him he needs just one of those games where he gets two or three hits he hit the daylights out of that that fouled a right it's at the moment the wind is blowing toward that I feel fence at the moment that's subject to change second by second my right-hand hitter wait [Applause] on two Hammacher goes to his mouth out behind that 18 foot circle more than any pitcher in the league he's constantly putting his fingers in his mouth but he likes to rub the ball up he likes it much friction there are roughly as much as legally possible and mentally mentally it's good for they are too stays the same Terry Forster goes to work on the amount of open some pictures just have habits they just won't throw the ball unless they do these little rituals and he goes around behind often there's Forrester [Applause] and again we await the o2 pitch Forrester doesn't need a overcoat either there it is swung on line drive left field base hit we'll have a play at the plate let it fire he's gonna get [Applause] but that was a one-hopper I made a perfect one hop throw to the plate look at me two hips but no run and two runners the bottom of the sixth it's 2-1 San Francisco [Music] [Applause] brand Kingman begins to throw in the giant both feni's who go to the bottom of the 6th and Darrell Evans leaves a knife after six the Dodgers and red still scoreless Soto against Welch avenues has popped out the structure [Applause] delivered through that with a fast drama online couple other finals for you Montreal beat the Yankees 72 Boston beat Baltimore 5-3 Nolan Ryan has a shutout through seven Houston leads the Padres for nothing Montreal beat the nuts no matter what I said what do I say Giants Yankees well I would be big news would it be place [Applause] victimizers evidence in the counts one and two they're quick I don't feel too badly if you want to get into your trout camp thing again with you go through that like we're getting ready a ball and two strikes the count to Evan [Applause] Clark waits to hit next just miss loan awareness to and zoo [Applause] he had him set up but he missed the strike zone [Applause] Burrell's again ready the count stays two balls two strikes we'll be with you at 4:05 eastern time tomorrow afternoon when Ken dayley pitches against an dima Gaffigan 4:05 again on Sunday Mike Krukow against Craig Goomer tree [Applause] and the to to to their 11 us and inside is running Florian to the Giants and the heart of their order coming here Evans Parkton Venable the three four and five hitters [Applause] let up popped up foul territory Randy Johnson on the move battling the wind held that ball up for him brought it back in fact one away so weapons is out and here's Clark the RIPTA solo home run in the fourth to give a Giants their 2-1 way [Applause] or rounds ready to go to work by the way in case you second-guessed down maxvill the Braves third base coach for the player wait I think he did the right thing we gotta send him with two of you can't wait for another basic well she's just hit a home run in six with nobody on against so no against Soto hasn't won nothing Bob well it's a pitcher home run off Soto Leonard had to make the plate perfectly which he did he had to make near perfect throw which he did and so they just beat you on that particular player huh [Applause] two balls no strikes to count boy he had some the first back didn't intimidate Park in the least it doesn't intimidate visitors can't stay around in this leg if you're intimidated by a brushback pitch sometimes a hitter becomes a better hitter and you don't even want to move those people off the plate Musial comes to mind immediately [Applause] [Music] [Applause] - one let up blowing away and it's three and one one out nobody aboard but it's to one Giants we're getting late bottom half of the sixth inning [Applause] bouncing ball to short ramirez waits fields and throws got into [Music] so two are down in the sixth inning and max Venable will bat he's flied to Center bounced to second Perez has a two hitter but he's losing [Applause] none of Allah's sake let a left-hand hitter and that much of an average but it always seems to swing the bat well against us one ball no strikes yet went out against us in Atlanta last week [Applause] to a know the time Kingman is throwing an earnest down in their bullpen I wonder if Hammacher czar was tightening up for something he's allowed six hits but a couple of them have been bleeders [Applause] they want to take him out fine with us we'll take our chances with anybody else just missed outside three-and-oh to cut Terry forced her back up and working in the Atlanta bullpen pitchers will work longer here to get ready than they do in most of all parts Perez is scheduled second in the amount of seven there's a strength to venable 3 & 1 the count [Applause] Jeff Leonard waits to hit next [Applause] and the 3-1 pitch [Music] survival reaches that's the second lock surrendered by Vespa [Applause] here comes Jeff Leonard twice from struck out twice [Applause] runner at first - Don Berna bone has good running speed they could trying to swipe a bass to get him in scoring position for Leonard milkman moves on duck [Applause] those francs Bob Gibson to the mound to talk it over with Perez who suddenly encounters some controlled difficult where those tryout camps are me all right let's get to the tryout camp skip I can tell you first what Ernie said that you can go to those tryout camps and you don't have to wear a uniform and then I suggested a little bit good idea for war cities that's right they are June 18th and 19th Grayson Stadium Savannah Georgia June 21st and 22nd Cleveland State College Cleveland Tennessee in the 25th and 26th of June at South DeKalb Community College Decatur Georgia age-limit 16 to 23 tryouts begin at 8 o clock a.m. get up early with rock Gilbert bring shoes and equipment in all American Legion players must have coaches or post commanders consent will have tryout camps all summer long but we'll keep you posted as to the areas [Applause] their job nothing happening it's - and OH for tryout camps nobody would have ever heard a damn Driessen for example all red Cindy store 10 Oberkfell two balls no strikes the count runner first two out Leonard falls time as the wind kicks up the dirt 16800 71 the paid attendance here 1687 one just over 18,000 in total into the unforgotten [Applause] when they you see a players by AAG and it says sign is a free-agent usual that's through a tryout camp someone liked him he wasn't drafted or they brought him in to work it out there's still a lot of players out there they shouldn't be discouraged that's because they're not drafted they can still make the major leagues and find everybody he's going again fouled away again 2 & 2 the count on Leonard [Applause] to one Giants were in the bottom of the sixth when a youngster makes that sometimes and he hasn't been drafted it's because when he's 17 or 18 the scouts look at abate say well he's not very big not very fast can't throw very hard but unknown to them he might be a one of those youngsters who develops later and becomes bigger and stronger at age 20 and 21 the stretch the 2-2 is going again and it's fouled off again dynamo putting in some time with the winds friends out there that's three in a row at each time it's been filed off Tom Smith our WTBS director here tonight Leonard calls time as Perez come set [Music] [Applause] [Music] he's going it slow Benedick's throw is high so Venable is in scoring position with two up they got a good jump and the throat was not a good one yes he got a good jump on the fastball [Applause] throw a little bit high but even a low throw I believe he's got the base stolen Venable runs well so that makes getting Leonard more important you can ill-afford another giant run here with only three advanced to go Perez's said in the payoff pitch is on the way and he got him for the third successive time and the inning is over no there's one left we go to the seventh with your score [Music] Bruce Benedict trying to snap at o49 slump leads off the Atlanta 7th inning Brett Butler has moved on deck he would pinch-hit next for Pascual Perez who touched the fine ballgame tonight we'll leave it behind the masks are Benedick trying to snap a note for nine slump [Applause] Benedick Butler and Ramirez for Atlanta in the seventh-inning Hammacher still on the mind and Kingman has sat down in the giant Volta and so he must I've been throwing only to be throwing I think he was just getting a few of the kinks out they go to Lavelle and mitten when it's a one-run game late someone's going to start throwing for Atlanta they have to get plenty of tosses in with this breaking ball for a strength to Benedict Forster was up and throwing [Applause] but he is no longer firing away one one account well it's almost that time of year again Tom Smith our director along with our executive producer Don Ellis combining this game with scouting NCAA football sites for another year of TBS coverage in that there's a line drive right center but it took him toward Clark [Applause] vii unfold watch it come back to them and clock mennonites Perez's through for the night he went six innings allowed just two hits he struck out five he walked two he allowed two runs one of them earned in a batter threw a wild pitch and that cost him his position in this ballgame forced her back up in the Atlanta pen Ramirez moves on deck you might wonder why a lefty against the lefty here but Bob Watson's a righty they want to save him later in the ballgame not too many righties on the venture off in the starting lineup he bunts back to the man he puts the ball and buckler's safe but he almost threw it away again it'll probably be a hit for Butler and that's not a bad thing to do when you're facing a left-hander coming off the bench so good speed on the bases for Atlanta they're gonna charge the picture with an error watch that that I thought the pitcher might run over that to the bat is right there he picks it up right away he's got him but he didn't [Applause] forced her back in the Atlanta bullpen so Butler first with one out and more activity in the giant vote then now as well [Applause] greg minton up and throwing [Applause] we need somebody to rip one somewhere curved outside one ball in those things with great speed at first one out but despite that great speed he's just 11 of 21 in the stolen-base department for the year like he's still learning Ramirez on Reister the next two for Atlanta they chase him back to first base [Applause] again the throw to first he showed him a quick remove that time but really not a very good one I'm Brett down back all right the Giants have committed three heirs already he's going pitches high maize throw he's in their stolen base for Belarus 12 for the year he got a good jump and he's in scoring position with one out one at that speed as a premium thing with a pitcher looking right at him Butler swipes second the throw was high in a way down at second base from a partner was in there anyway [Music] the board has the counter on Ramirez two balls no strengths so the Braves have a chance here to at least tie it Rafael as pops it's a second flied to right and popped to first so everything's been on the right side tonight [Applause] the pitch breaking ball of beauty right in there it's two balls on the strength marah's was not enchanted with a call [Applause] there's one out of runner on second [Applause] the Dodgers been in the bottom of the seventh down one nothing our rather leading Cincinnati won nothing on a home run by pitcher Bob loach now the pics will come to America outside three-on-one Luca [Applause] call now Joel Youngblood comes in to talk it over with that Lam occur both bullpens are busy [Applause] the wind now has shifted completely and it's blowing toward the right-field wall [Applause] the pinch followed the curveball he had a good cut and the count goes full three and two jerry royster will be next [Applause] annum occur again ready [Applause] payoff pitch fair bouncing ball to short lemaster fields throws close a gun wisely stayed at second the master short half the ball over there but Darrell stayed with it made a big play for the second out Evan Save Lemaster he dug this ball out of the dirt the master had to wait for that last bounce and he threw glow to first watch this through one back end it's goofy we take another look from left field you can see the scoop a little better it's not an easy throw to handle so it's all up to Jerry Rice turret the plant is going to tie things up here in the seventh it's an M it looked like Ramirez swung at ball four curveball down around his ankle the pitch didn't mean to little faff the inning will be we'll take it himself they're retired on the checks wave [Music] go to the bottom half of the seventh inning and your score stays Giants two Braves one go to the bottom half of the seventh inning milk may will lead it off for the Giants against the new Atlanta pitcher Terry Foster and here with the play-by-play story once again Ernie Johnson okay skip built Bailey's Adana Forster one and one er a good at 1.76 he has eight saves Perez picked well it's a two to one game first pitch strike on the outside corner May reached out of there in the third grounded out to second and the fourth Jack Clark's home London the fourth is the deciding run right now they'll one towards short [Applause] one up for Brad Wellman we got visitors all the way from the Hawaii Jimmy and Lorraine Gagnon something for the series watch the Braves with regular regularity in Hawaii none they want to see him play they say hi to all their friends [Applause] foresters pitch it violently first Buford watch a blow by that occurs on deck Giants two runs only two hits and three as of raise one six and one one of the runs off Perez under due to his old error Welman with another bad he anxiously await tomorrow afternoon Ken dayley will pitch for Atlanta just called up from Richmond where he won nine ballgames fastball born to the Gaffigan will pitch for San Francisco Forester with an O to fly ball slicing forgot it well then flies to right now hammer girl's gonna dice and he's all for one he's the local hero Hammacher shooting for his eighth win he's three and Oh at home total crowd is a little over 18,000 here at candlestick they've averaged in the neighborhood of 15,000 a game first it's a strike looking ahead to the 8th for Atlanta Chambliss Murphy and Harper the first three [Applause] [Applause] Braes 400 club Booster Club will be meeting us in Cincinnati that's our last stop on this junket we've got five games and four days the auto is low [Applause] forces a big guy works in a hurry one two pitch is high and away two and two rays came into this game with a best batting average internationally they let the Cardinals by a point [Applause] - to raise team batting average to 77 but they've scored only one time here tonight Hammacher has been tough he hasn't been easy for anyone [Applause] I got his picture running cupboard throws about that's a one two three four for sure we go to the eighth it's tilted a lot guys [Music] we had a quiz here the last player to hit 300 win 20 ballgames in the major leagues and it was our own Bob Gibson 1971 23 games and he hit 303 as you look at our red men scoreboard as we go to the 8th today [Music] [Applause] there it is folks there's your rent man scorebook Chapas leads it off [Applause] about that they stayed in the major leagues to win his 10th game and down at Texas Hunnicutt won his night the Detroit Tigers leaf Exodus before the Tigers won again today they won 9 out of that last 11 the Eastern Division in the American League is so high you put together a good string and you're almost in the first place the Tigers about 2 weeks ago were 5th now they're second Chandler's files a pitch away about two weeks ago everybody in Detroit wanted Sparky Anderson fired and you don't hear any of that anymore [Applause] vampa sold for three struck out in the third lined out and grounded out well this guy is a good pitcher the difference in a year the aggressiveness that he displays is ahead of every hitter what a trade Tom Allen made it as it works out they've made some good deals with Kansas City deal to follow another curveball I mean you have to look at it the other way to the Giants rebuilding Kansas City a club that has won some divisions and felt by tableau could win him another one but it really hasn't worked out for them again what was lost there occurs and there are curves if you don't put it in the right spot not worth anything he's been [Applause] right on the money tonight [Applause] now he goes to his mouth off the circle and the one-two pitch on the way he's teasing Chris two balls and two strikes [Applause] folks in the north Tennessee ought to be proud of this good here's a tutu by the way hung that with a bit and you don't have to have a blazing fastball to succeed up here you just have to have a fastball that is respected by the hitters in other words they can't sit on every other pitch and still hit your fastball to to curve it high into the air short left Leonard Stafford a bit but um on two-to-one giants Murphy the batteries old for three last time these clubs met in Atlanta Murphy at nine hits four homers in two series one of them off Hammacher in a couple off McKagan who's pitching tomorrow [Applause] Hammacher has given up only to homerun balls all year there's a race right had to relieve the ball gets in there [Applause] Murph's grandpa's here tonight made bail that one for him or somebody they own [Music] first granddad was well just kind of tired of waiting for the cable to get in there when I bought himself a dish never misses a praise game - for deep short tough play Wally PIPP over there Gavaskar knocked it down he gets that quick-release probably the quickest release of any shortstop and Evans dug it out of the dirt again lemaster shows some maturity here too you won't see it on this particular replay but he booted that ball dropped right at his feet he didn't panic he just picked it up unloaded Terry Harper he's three for three with a triple scored the only run for the phrase came in a fool maybe home it went up former grandpa running out of time and out [Applause] it comes home strata you get rid of those shoes that light up in the dark we've got white bands on them now now what in the world could he be going out there for I'm sure he's got a reason look like when he first came out he said you feelin okay might have spotted something that he's got the white stripes just this time he he remembered what we said in Atlanta he's a good guy he is just a pitch be a pitching coach for the crazy or elles Phillies last year was and player personnel for the Milwaukee Brewer career baseball bat there's a 1:1 to Terry Harper missed inside two and one it could have been also running out to say Frank wants you to do this on this batter this is way he wants you to pitch do it - hot top of the eights 2 - 1 Giants and the 2 1 pitch from Hammacher [Applause] he throws more good curveballs and any picture I can recall he uses that thing as most pitchers do the fastball and again it's a ball but you can't blame the hitter at bottom just drops on him another amazing thing is most lefties a wild he's averaged less than 2 walks per 9 innings - - Gordo halt going to be a base it for Harper and he's four four four Lemaster knocked it down but he had no play should be a hit [Applause] yet another breaking ball he got it up in the strike zone and Harper thus was able to hit it hard inflam Astor comes up with that ball he just takes a bite out of it he had no chance to get Hardy Johnson got a chance to play as a started many ballgames playing third tonight he's all for one but a sacrifice and walked Horner may play in Houston that's the latest report may pinch-hit Sunday are they available to put you the valuable cog in this offense he's needed the old one one ball and strike skip Carey and Ernie Johnson with you from Candlestick Park at San Francisco as maxvill flashes aside farmers at first he runs well [Applause] Hammacher think something is on [Applause] Youngblood 1/3 guarding Ally they don't want anything hit between Youngblood in the bag [Applause] the funny little move that he has to first base he is stepping but ever so nimbly and not too much distance on it [Applause] mitten is read if they need him he's been throwing now for some time 1/1 lo two one poppers on deck he's in a couple of hits tonight boy look back at that's six living Harper trying to score on that face hit to left and a great throw by Leonard got him at the plate had to wave amiss two down nobody on one out they would have held their [Applause] - one runner going [Applause] here comes own highpockets rank up inside we're gonna have an argument throw it a little bit to the third-base side it appeared that he was going to be called out by a Dutch Rennert surveyed it he said no he doesn't tag it the master was slamming a glove against the [Applause] now they're yelling something here that starts with bull repeat the second world the pitches I could throw has him by 10 feet but the throw the master has to reach back for it and I think he's safe I think he caught that outside of the bag now a master has a temper tantrum you see just the start of it they'll put harper ik ii with a stolen base another angle he got the pitch way up [Applause] you see how much the ball beat him by and you see him start to punch him out and then say no I didn't get it three one fits Johnson drives it to left field Johnson of of extra-base hit and the bridge [Applause] I cut the left but Jeff weather [Applause] Leonard's leaping bait to catch we go to the bottom of the Pacific time on calm down folks praise Rudy right in the midst those giant looters takes a little nerve youngbloodz a pattern jacket the Masters abetting Youngblood to follow the Masters old for too Forrester goes high do it on our last report on the Dodgers one nothing Dodgers after six we're gonna check that out boy out playing south of us and welcher did a home run off Marielle Soto that's a strike to it one same two clubs tomorrow afternoon and Sunday afternoon [Applause] don't telecast on Monday from Houston Forester misses he set him down in order in the seventh three and one [Applause] now the three one Finch ninth inning at Dodger Stadium and the Dodgers lead one nothing on the Welch over [Applause] the master first with a la Joel Youngblood then up once he popped his short O'Malley started was hit by a pitch take it out of the ball Youngblood they drop it down [Music] [Applause] it's just hi jhope a teeny an infielder loosening in the probably the ninth play third base for Youngblood unball those guys Evans is on deck [Applause] first and second nobody for Darrell Evans Youngblood delivers for insurance lead by one [Applause] that's the first hit by the Giants is back in the fourth was market without [Applause] [Music] there have been times Oh water will be asked a bunch I don't know if the last Gibbons to do that or not he's had a great year Randy Johnson little shallow 1/3 Clark is due next let's see Oh Frank Robinson plays it first and second nobody out [Applause] he's bunting and popping it go to second and they got a play down there Randy Johnson handle that ball [Music] the force of second but the master came 2/3 fielder's choice [Music] we mentioned before this Johnson can really play for daisies as good a defensive third baseman as you'll ever see he knows nobody's at third so he immediately makes the right play it keeps the double play in effect any park will face Forster or Willie but Rosen is heating in a hurry in the Atlanta bullpen but I don't think he's ready Nick yep Gibson to the mound to talk it over with Forster Benedict and now Randy Johnson gives us a chance to mention that the cat night will be July 2nd you take a look at bedrock program raise cap by July 2nd we work with a good [Applause] cns banks July 4th fireworks of courses on the 4th big things to happen still the diviner Fulton County Stadium [Applause] looking for the DoublePlay is outside where there is some Hubbard DoublePlay depth Clark with just average speed he's 1 for 3 with a home run to left Benedictus call time wait a minute is it his hand you think boy he's had a problem the ball bruise on his gloved hand [Applause] he might be hurting I don't think it was a myth remember Benedick missed a couple of games with a pounding from Forster Bedrosian guys it throw hard [Applause] let's see [Applause] go to hang in there I think that's what it was just wanted to get a breather [Applause] [Music] [Applause] the runners at first and third the master third Evans first the water [Music] [Applause] Burnie that got both max embeddable and chili Davis in the on-deck-circle so one here Chili's a switch-hitter [Applause] he's been in a slump this year the two all they might greenlight him right here mark takes a long look at Daniel's oh boy I almost fit the mortgage which is it 300 if you like it swing trying to get the fly ball only one out but it was way outside deliver it on [Applause] was there with chili Davis and looked like credible might be listed chili Davis for Venable he's a switch-hitter though he turns around [Applause] the right hand I better shift what they do one left six homers and 17 RBIs on the right-handed better cases folsome bases-loaded one out bottom of the eighth [Applause] foresters pitch strike called the faster a third heavens second and Clark is at first Davis runs well but from the right side if you got didn't feel about halfway for everyone [Applause] now for sure with little one [Applause] but Rosen is ready if they need [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] Phil shading Davis - right Forester with a long one [Applause] Bonnie's got him set up for that curve or the slider got a good slider down and in on right-handers and he gets some grounders from it [Applause] but safely deliver this time the runners were faster third that was at second Jack Clark at first [Applause] as a pitching bills character and you see it right here you gotta have some two balls two strikes bases-loaded one out from Forrester there's a curve and he struck a time he set him up beautifully he went fastball fastball he finally got that curve done it in and he chased ball three really that's a Hammacher type it's and Benedict a good play on the short out the Dodgers win it one nothing on the Welch homer Welch's five and six Soto is eight and five Cincinnati had six hits the Dodgers had five the home run one or four [Music] is Joe Torre out and it looks like we'll have a pitching change and Rosa being called upon possibly Leonard or a pinch-hitter the corrosion making his way in from the bullpen and left field you take a look at it Forester leaving go to the locker room while they do let's bought for this commercialism [Music] camp summers will be called upon a pinch it for Jeff Leonard so it'll be a lefty against the right-hander Steve Bedrosian who comes into his 28th game is that a good year he's won four loss - and saved nine one of the leaders in a National League and game saved champ summers has worn a few uniforms including Cincinnati Detroit Giants no homers two RBIs eases fastball hitter and Petrosian a fastball pitcher so you get power against power summers we just turned 35 years old he's been with a customer nationally since the night - Detroit mentioned he's made the circuit the bases are loaded for him with two us and batting for Leonard who would vote for three with three strikeouts against Perez first pitch was a ball Bay is on deck [Applause] that rock with the 105 gonna be on a play Johnson gives it a look but it's behind the raised I got praise must come back and win this to remain three and a half out of first a loss and their four and a half back of the Dodgers who got that pitching again tonight from Bob Welch and he also hit a home run phenomenal pitching by the Dodgers not only the starters but the relief pitcher [Applause] by the way hit that one off his foot 1 & 2 [Applause] the erosion takes a little walk he does that often when he gets ahead in the count bases-loaded to down one ball two strikes Benedicte with a sign and here's a pitch by the way [Applause] the Trojans at two pits pitcher he's got a fastball he could clocked over 90 miles an hour and a slider runners lead and the one to there's a slider [Applause] downstage 1 & 2 looking ahead to the night Atlanta's got the bottom third of their order Hubbard will lead it off [Applause] one into on away whoa go into it [Applause] summers up for only the 15th time this year and Petrosian pitches papa gonna be [Applause] who supply a baseball for Lanny Harris [Applause] chants summers really put together Forrester with one in 2/3 innings a lot of hit so far no runs with runners out there belong to him and the pitch good file again another fastball [Applause] the master third heaven 2nd Clarke at first [Applause] [Music] that rock trying to get out of it keep it at two-to-one pitches he got him on the slider that's a strikeout and bedrock doesn't they scream we go to the night Giants to praise was [Music] [Applause] this season you can get the Braves clubhouse collection of authentic apparel gets an accessory merchandise and souvenir novelties by ordering from a colorful 16 page catalog scented honor with your name address and phone number to Braves catalog post office box 406 for Atlanta 303 o to your donger will be refunded with your first order Youngblood is Bill Davis ISM Center new third baseman is Joe 15e a youngster who played not at Mercer in Macon Georgia college days Hubbard will lead it off to be followed by Benedict the brave need one to tie [Applause] Hammacher with the first pitch strike y'all beat New York seven to Pittsburgh over Philadelphia to one Cardinals the winner over the cuff seven to you Stan beat San Diego for one Dodgers over Cincinnati what nothing Lafitte's California's 6-3 the Red Sox over the Oreos five three Detroit 11 Cleveland for Milwaukee loses to the Yankees seven to White Sox 6 3 over Oakland Kansas City beat Seattle 3-1 here were in the ninth and it's two to one Giants my guess would be Humbert Benedict and Watson Benedict south barbar throwing in the bullpen line over Frerichs it's going to be in front they said leopard starts tonight to the single array it's his third hit of the night see if the praise can get my finish we've got the lead off better on line drive single box pretty nice to have Brendan he hit that ball hard he's at the ball hard all four times tonight we wonder how long Frank Robinson will go as Hrothgar Burt starts throwing at the blaze bullpen mitten is ready and lapel is now throwing till they get their one-two punch ready and they're both filled Benedict is hitless he's funny [Applause] covering and the tying runs at second perfect sacrifice by Bruce Benedict one for if you keep a scorecard Watson will pinch it and the reason bob was starting lineup tonight was another good hitting by Chambliss last night and number two what Laura didn't feel that he [Music] and they may not have to swing against Hammacher on this occasion for Robinson is on his way out of the giant dugout and if he makes a change we could get our first look at Mike Jorgensen who just joined the team today and Robinson has [Music] don't agree with the decision Hammacher to go 9 rotting it from the [Applause] I like to see that he's off his cap that's a handshake from all the people [Applause] Wow Bittan warms up Watson will bat mitten trying for second save of the year against Atlanta well the better relief pictures are on Watson again Smith who's one and 3er a four point eight nine he has seven saves second one down lots of betting homer and 16 RBIs ramires is on deck Jori with some left-handed hitting on the bench skip mentioned Jorgensen Claudell Washington also available the Olin well Barris is out there the on-deck circle and then you have to make up your mind if Watson fails would you rather have Ramirez against MIT you know would you rather have one of your left-hand hitters against Gary LaBelle because that's what it's going to boil down to no balls two strikes [Music] watson wedding they all do bounced or third the foul continue guarding alive it doesn't overpower you control time pitcher with sinkers and sliders a lot of poise a little bit of a flake to sometimes you need that no balls two strikes watch it [Music] [Applause] first but it's going to be almost comfortable it'll stay on - may goes out to document they're in field mouth batini lemaster Wellman and Evans an outfield of Youngblood Davis and Clark Hammacher went eight in the third gave up eight hits so far one run the runner at second is is [Applause] Wallander in the dirt 1 & 2 the Giants got a run in the third the Braves tied it with a run in the fourth the Giants get one in the bottom out before we're making a 2 to 1 game that's been your scoring San Francisco with only three hits the phrase of aid [Applause] [Music] [Applause] to [Applause] watson is arguing that the ball was not caught he's arguing that the ball with a foul-tip obviously in the dirt [Applause] crap by the catcher see what we can make out of it [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Applause] well it's up to Raffi the marason is all for for tying run at second two outs [Applause] me pitching [Applause] [Music] [Applause] single has started Benedick sacrificed in the second but now it takes it to out hit [Applause] come on bounce door Victini [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] while both sides get excellent pitching but the Giants one to the one and skip as the totals for the Giants two runs on just three hits they committed three errors and left seven Atlee hammaker the winner he pitched brilliantly he's 83 greg minton is eight save of the year for Atlanta one run eight hits one error the Braves left nine Perez the loser he pitched well his own air wild fits and hit batsman as it works out cost in the game he is now 8 and 2 and the game-winning RBI goes to Jack Clark for the only home run of the game his sixth game winner of the year the Braves had eight hits four of them by Harper three of them by Hubbard and they come up a run short okay tomorrow afternoon at 405 Eastern time we'll take a look at Kenny Daly as he tries to even this series at one game apiece until then for Tom Smith our director Jim Carrey Beat Band we're in John sterling this is Ernie Johnson from Kendall six market San Francisco so long everybody [Music]
