Please note that this website is currently a work in progress! Lots of interesting data and statistics to come.
Great racing, thought the sub might like it.
Whenever people complain about the racing at Indy, I show them this to prove the cars are the problem.
Some interesting footage. Knew of Ontario, but not sure I've ever seen any video of a race there before.
Reminds me of Pocono.
Such an interesting concept taking the Indy layout west, shame it didnโt last long
Wow, go to Ontario Mills every year for Auto Club and Reign hockey, had no idea this was right where I spend my race weekend
Ontario Motor Speedway, what could had been. Was dubbed as โIndianapolis of the Westโ, broke ground in โ68 & opened in 1970. Was one of the first state of the art facilities at the time, which was groundbreaking in the 70s. The track hosted Indy Car/USAC, F1, & NASCAR events over the years, as well Evel Knievelโs historic jump & California Jam, a Rock festival-type concert. The operators of the track got in a lot of debt with municipal bonds and had to sell their stake to another CEO while attendance & promotion dwindles in subsequent years. Track closed in 1980 when the price of the land rose to $150K per acre from the prior $7,500 per acre.
โTil this day, the only part of the track that remains is the embankment of turn 3 in a private property lot enclosed in a fence.
