foreign thank you [Music] foreign [Music] [Music] foreign [Music] [Music] thank you thank you foreign check out today's sponsor sansuig carports it'll only take a few seconds and we'll get right back to the video this carport is awesome it comes with LED lights solar powered LED lights sandbags straps it is loaded with everything you need it has Windows it has roll up doors it was really easy to install it only took me about an hour and I did it by myself sand Swig carport 12x20 heavy duty carport let's build this carport let's get the roof on all right let's put it up multiple holes so you can get it tighter right there it's 12 feet wide by 20 feet long it's pretty big you could pull a full-size truck in there no problem when you're done you can take it down check out the CT code below go check it out guys this thing's awesome I'll put the sides up here in a little bit but uh that's basically it all right guys check it out foreign [Applause] [Music] foreign foreign [Music] all right it's looking pretty good we've used the little copper spoon to get up in that crack and fill it in it seemed to work pretty good got a little blow through down here at the bottom I had to patch but but we got it built up pretty pretty running a little hot so it moves we're gonna knock that down clean it up a little bit keep going [Music] mm-hmm [Music] [Music] thank you foreign ER some of these seams here and help protect it from the moisture and rust let's do it foreign [Music] sounds like Wes is having a nightmare [Music] foreign guys check it out we're getting there it's looking pretty good it's not perfect and uh I made a couple mistakes here and there but it's way better than it was and uh yeah we just got to do that over here we gotta finish up that b pillar like we did on this one and that's what happens in Florida when you let stuff sit around especially this time of year so we're going to clean all that up again hit it with some awesome kill the rust knock out all the rust we'll knock all of it off with the da and the wire wheel and then hit it with some hospital then we'll go back and uh fill in any holes that we missed or any patches that we need to patch get it all cleaned up and ready for some primer we're probably going to break out the uh air gun the paint gun and paint the hole inside with the primer and these quarters and the bumper brackets and anything else that we need to protect from the rust and we're gonna go we're gonna put two or three coats of that on there then we're going to put on a base coat I got I still have to get the base coat and then uh then we're going to try to replicate this patina somehow not exactly sure how we're going to do that we need to do it here and we need to do it right here and that's basically it the rest of this all gets covered up with carpet and Headliners so none of the inside is going to be seen we're gonna leave the dash like it is for now at some point we're going to fix the radio hole yeah we're getting close all right it's actually the next day I had to go get the ran out of gas for the welder finally after I don't know how long after I had that thing for a while and uh went and exchanged it it was about a hundred and eight dollars here in Orlando uh at the local uh air gas store and yeah this tank lasted for a while but they give you they basically exchange it this one's been cleaned up and filled up take your old team can I give you a new one so yeah we're gonna put the regulator back on there get it strapped back onto the welder get that set up and uh yesterday I got my hair cut too summertime feels good to get a nice short haircut especially when you're wearing the dust mask and all that stuff it helps out big time by the way if you guys need a carport link is below helps out the channel I get a small commission check it out this thing's pretty pretty sweet I might use it as a paint booth in here close it all up and put like a fan at the end with a couple filters that's what I might do when we're ready to uh paint the gear all right so we're gonna do a couple other things but I'm gonna get set up with the tank and I noticed there's some moisture coming through the lines this time of year it's super humid here in Orlando Central Florida and even though I have two really nice filters they're soaking wet and moisture is coming through so we're going to take those off we're gonna put some new ones in there we're also going to put this filter on the end of the line I actually picked this up a while ago I just never used it be kind of cool to see this will actually kind of give you a uh a visual if any moisture is making it through and then you I think this little thing right here releases it so this is kind of like a final catch-all I was going to put at the end here but I think that'll get in the way so I'm gonna put it right here should do the same thing and we can kind of keep an eye on like a sight glass we'll get that hooked up we'll get those filters exchanged we'll get the tank hook back up all right the first thing we need to do is turn off the compressor and I was using this compressor as a really big beast but the motor blew up or something so we've been using this one this one's got like an automatic moisture release with the timer on which is kind of cool so I need to see if I can get that moved over to this because these things fill up with moisture and that's what these are these traps kind of help get the moisture out of the lines so we're gonna blow out those lines uh and try to get as much out of the lines as possible we'll turn this off for a second definitely want to have a face guard on when you do this especially if you got dirt like we do all right we've got the air completely drained now we're going to open up these filters here and I bet it's wet it is probably wet [Music] wow that one's actually pretty dry I didn't expect that okay there's a little bit of moisture but not moisture some sand and dirt that it's caught which is good let's see how this one looks I would imagine this one's got to be wet oh look at all the sand in there crazy hmm well it's weird because this one feels pretty dry too I would have thought these would have been wet that's weird first one is dirtier than the second one that makes sense and there's all kinds of junk in there I'm gonna blow these out with my blower and we're going to change them anyway and uh actually this one ah we'll just change both of them and then we'll put that other thing on there it's weird I would have thought these would have been a lot weather but I was mistaken you know what's weird is the paint on the inside of these is corroding and I think that's what's causing that uh sand in there that's weird that sucks the paint on the uh the lid itself pain in here is coming apart and this thing is flaking on whatever they make this out of is some kind of cast sand with some sort all right let's go ahead and put a new filter in there anyway let's see what happens we'll hold on to these let them dry out in the sun they are a little damp but not much foreign definitely want to do this right before like a nice paint job not that I know but all right yeah that sucks that that paint's flaking off and it's kind of getting dirt in there I saw this one guy's got um he's got like a gel tab or something system there's like these little gel beads like that suck up the uh I think he had one of these or he had a couple of these like charcoal filters and then he had a couple of those gel tabs that absorb the moisture and there's like a three or four step process and you had it on a little cart a little dolly that he'd made so he could move it around the shop I thought that was kind of cool I almost bought it from him he's the same guy I bought the uh shrinker structure from he wanted like 300 bucks for the dolly I should have done it but didn't have the money on me at the time all right well that's interesting I would have thought these would have been a lot uh a lot wetter let's go ahead and get this in there and see if that does anything all right we're gonna undo this and this is the airflows this way so we need to put this on here with some Teflon tape and then that'll go in there and then this is going to go here it's got some funky Teflon on there that Harbor Freight puts on there I don't know if that stuff's any good or not so basically it's going to go in there like that and connect here and then hopefully we'll be able to see if there's any moisture or dirt in there just one at I don't know if these things are any good or not I got it off the Amazon it got good reviews so let me know if you guys have used one all right hopefully this works that'd be awesome or hopefully at least it doesn't leak that would be good fall I need another air leak all right airflow there's a little release button there I think that's supposed to let air out somehow let's go turn it on see what happens all right let's do it I'll bring you back when it fills up all right let's get the tank hooked up to the welder [Music] tightens up pretty easy all right see what kind of readings we get here oh I'm gonna strap this thing down before it falls over it's no fun if it falls over it comes with these little chains the dolly does it's not uh they're not that great [Music] all right full tank is hooked up this thing should go all the way up let's see what happens well uh well I don't know it's supposed to just go halfway up Maybe not sure I don't remember it's supposed to go all the way up or not I don't remember all right if some of you guys know a full tank is that a full tank let me know if you guys know this is my first refill that I've done and also this gauge here I was told supposed to be in between 10 and 20 on the black let's see where we're at we gotta plug it in first and that's adjustable by here I guess uh let's see [Music] we need to adjust [Music] there we go [Music] foreign [Music] on the black not the red I think it's supposed to be around 15. let me know what you guys think is this a full tank I mean it's supposed to be cool all right let's patch this up a little bit foreign [Music] [Music] all right got that cleaned up pretty good we're gonna get this section here sliced together welded together use the copper spoon on the back side I'm gonna reach through the window of the rear window here with one hand I'll have the other hand the welder we should be able to get in there pretty good yep all right all right that looks pretty good let's get that cleaned up [Music] all right it's looking pretty good got a few more things to do in this little corner but it's looking pretty good um the reason I use the da up here if you look closely you can see some pinholes right there so we're going to try to do the copper spoon and get those filled in hopefully they don't blow out too bad a couple little pinholes right there we can hit we could also just put seam sealer on the back side of that and not worry about it but we'll go ahead and hit that a couple times and there's some stuff underneath but I'm going to wait until I get this um lifted up and we're going to do all the stuff underneath that we need to do once it's lifted up to a decent height there's some stuff in the front that we got to get to and some stuff under here we're going to get to you so just to tie this in yeah looking pretty good I'm going to spend some more time on this filler too you can see that low spot right there we'll do another batch of filler over this at some point and keep working this until it's nice and smooth but it's pretty smooth you can kind of see the right here at the end there's a gap you see that Gap right there we got a fix so there's a little Dent there or whatever so we're going to fill that in but you can see right there it goes away it's perfectly flat so it's pretty flat all the way down pretty happy with that overall result we just gotta and you can see it there's a low right there so we'll get that cleaned up get all this cleaned up because these little pinholes filled in and keep moving forward and eventually we're gonna put some two or three coats of uh primer and then get a base coat that hopefully is similar to this and then somehow put some Rust treatment on top of it I don't know not sure how that's going to work out we got a lot of cleanup detailed stuff to do I gotta knock all this surface rust back off fill in these pinholes and just keep cleaning up all this stuff so that you know we finally get this on the road if we do get into a rainstorm or a mud puddle or something that moisture is not getting in to the cab so it's gonna be a lot of work trying to find all this type of stuff but you know it's important you don't want your carpet or your headline or any of that stuff to get wet so we're gonna try to fix as many of these things and catch as many of them seam seal and all that stuff the best we can but there's a lot of places to look yeah so we'll keep going all right let's see if we can get these little pinholes fixed without making it worse hopefully we use the copper spoon let's see what happens all right check it out there were just some small little pinholes for the most part we filled them in and I'm gonna go back and clean that up a little bit with the grinder it doesn't have to be perfect but you can kind of see the other side where we came through so this is just where rust has eaten through and you can kind of see where it's all pitted but those were the only areas that it had actually gone through I've already hit all this with the wire wheel and hit it with osfo that's that's what all this residue is it's also I hit the whole car with it um a while back but before we put any uh paint I'm going to clean it up a little bit more and then we'll hit it with uh the same rust uh preventative paint that we're using and we'll cover those up there's a couple little holes over there we're gonna fix too but yeah that's pretty much it we'll probably put some seam sealer on this side and just kind of we're going to be putting seam sealer all over this luggage tray all around the edges and all in these all in these crevices here you see the original seam sealer here see that bead so that bead is going to cover up all of these seams of course we're going to sand all this down we're gonna hit it with osvo again and uh make sure we got all the rust killed in all the crevices before we do that but let's clean this up real quick and keep working on this spot clean this up a little bit [Music] [Music] all right it's looking pretty good we're gonna go ahead and spray some paint on there just to keep it from Flat thrusting all right not bad you can see it kind of looks when it's wet anyway it kind of looks uh like this surface rust here so we might be able to use a combination of this with some white paint or off-white paint to replicate that at some point but for now this is just a protective coating to keep it from flash rusting so we're gonna clean this up a little bit more and put some filler right here try to get this a little straighter and then go ahead and cover this as well all right I was going to mix up a little filler and fill in that hole but the uh hardener busted through the plastic and it's leaking I don't know if that renders it no good I don't know if it's been like that for a couple days or what but I'm gonna order some new hardener and in the meantime I'm just gonna go ahead and sand this down and uh put some filler on it here and we can always sand it not filler but protective just a protective coat here and we can always come back and fill this in later [Music] um thank you spray that on there to keep it from flash roasting I've got some other type of primer too that's pretty good um so I've been experimenting with both of them but this one goes on a lot nicer this is more of a surface primer and then this is more of a rust prohibitive primer I think but I think they both prevent rust I think they both have an inhibitor in them but pretty sure this one has more I'm not sure this is all experimental for me so if anything fails it's not a big deal I mean this is just at the end of the day this is going to be a patina look if hopefully we can somewhat replicate what's left here I know I got a little higher than I needed to probably but the seam was right here so it is what it is you know if this if we can somehow replicate this to come down here that'll be awesome the fender is going to go here the uh side steps are going to go here so they'll be this 12 inches here that we need to try to replicate basically on that that section and on the other side and then this tiny little area here is really all we have to figure out how to replicate the rest of it is pretty much all there except for the window area this is going to be tricky too trying to blend this in but it's gonna be fine for this project it's going to be fine this is all about learning how to weld how to fit things together how to use different types of primer and paint and stuff like that and we'll use all that experience and we'll take it on to the nine onto the uh gear because this is going to be a complete restoration so we won't have to try and worry about blending and all that stuff the hard part on this is getting all the it's going to be fixing all this all the dimples in the metal and getting all that stuff situated and then putting filler basically over the whole thing and blocking the whole thing that's gonna be a challenge and I might wait till the fall because it is hot and sweaty and wearing a mask right now is not fun it's not fun at all guys so unless you've lived in Florida in the summertime you uh you probably don't know what I'm talking about but if you've been here visiting probably have an idea it's hot sweaty it's nasty but this is fun for now we've got lots of this detail work still to do I gotta finish up this area here like we did here I gotta finish up this area here like we did here um you know what I might do right now is hit a little bit of this with some also let's try it all right here is the rear bumper bracket Mount that we uh replaced a few weeks ago and it's getting some surface rust on it gonna clean it up and put some mosfo on it and the reason I'm using also on this area is because it's got a lot of little grooves and stuff and I just want to get down in there and let that kind of soak for a while because the surface rust is kind of eating into it so let's go ahead and get that cleaned up and put some Hospital in there [Music] all right we got the hospital here you can get this Ace Hardware Home Depot stuff like that Amazon and it's it's nasty don't get it on you and don't breathe it don't get it in your eyes and I'm just going to pour a little bit tupperware bowl like this and then we're going to use a brush a sponge kind of thing and just kind of brush it on I got a piece of cardboard under here to catch the drips because you don't want it to get on your concrete because it's acid based and it will eat um it'll kind of foam up on the concrete and eat into it a little bit so let's try the sponge first see how that works it's working pretty good yeah that's working really good what's cool about this is it gets down in the cracks and stuff and it'll just uh it'll kill the rust and when it's all dried up let it dry overnight and it'll have like a white kind of a Haze to it and then you can just um I think you're supposed to wash it off with water to neutralize it I've also seen where people just sand it off so and these holes right here we're going to cut some of this out and put little patches in there we're not going to do it right now but we're going to patch these little holes up at some point that's basically it kind of see it working already you can also put this stuff in a little spray bottle and spray it you can even use a when I first got the car I had one of those little pump sprayers about this big and I put it in there and I sprayed in a lot of different areas not on the main part of the car but I've sprayed inside the car and in the trunk and in the engine bay and stuff like that and it just eats the rust it neutralizes it somehow I'm not sure some sort of acid base but yeah it works good there's also a there's a few different types and a few different brands but they're basically all the same you can use it pretty much anywhere like back in here these are those new engine shelves I'll put in you can kind of see there are starting to rust so we can just put a little application on here and it should kill it and then we'll go back over this with primer and we'll sand it down and then go over it with primer and protect it foreign yeah I'm gonna do this side I'm gonna do a few other pieces in here we've got the cardboard down there catching it all I don't know if any of you guys are in the Tampa the other night to see the Cure but it was pretty cool these guys are awesome put on a really good show it's one of my favorite bands started listening to them back in the 80s it's pretty cool to see that they're still out doing it and selling out arenas but before we went to see the show my wife and some friends of ours were at a restaurant and Ric Flair walked in pretty cool we had to shake his hand say hi to him because I don't know if you guys noticed sometimes I go the videos oh yeah it's pretty neat too because we were just watching this documentary the other night pretty uh pretty cool very self-made man I should probably have my face so long because this stuff splashes in your eyes it's not gonna be good it's not gonna be fun and this is just a really good way to just get all the surface rusts and even this old rust here you could you could neutralize it and uh but I want to keep that look for the patina but you could I'll put a little here just to see what it looks like this kind of turns the rust black especially after you kind of see it's already working it's already starting to turn it black and then it'll get like a white foam on there white coating the next day but yeah I'm going to spend a lot of time doing this getting a lot of these areas uh protected with rust and all that stuff oh yeah you can see it's already working we'll let that sit overnight and it should uh knock it out you can see how fast it kind of just takes the rust away all right let's hit some of this stuff in here real quick this is pretty bad it's been sitting for a while I think I made this patch I don't know it's probably been a couple months and uh you can see all the surface rust that's got on it the surface rust all in here all that's going to get knocked down and we're gonna rust treatment at all I'm gonna go ahead and just put rust treatment on this right now and you'll see when we come back how it just takes it away you could almost use a spray bottle in here and just spray this stuff down I got a couple little patches I need to do in here I'm not going to worry too much about knocking these welds down anymore on this uh because this is all going to get covered up with carpet but we do need to put a bunch of seam sealer in here [Music] and that's where I welded a minute ago that sponge works pretty good I got that packet uh Harbor Freight I think you can see that's where I hit it before a while ago way back when I first got this thing I took everything out of it and I sprayed the hole inside with osfo and then let it sit overnight and then I rinse the whole car out and then that's what is Left Behind is that white coating [Music] but yeah you could spray it all back in there you can see that's all the white coating where I did it a long time ago we're gonna have to get some new clips for this area here they're all rusted out all right guys we're getting there slowly but surely it's a lot it is a lot a little little details and you know it's all kind of just figuring out as I go and uh we're getting there definitely wanted to knock some of that rust back so that also is a huge help just want to try to keep it off of your paint you know keep it away from your paint because it will just take the paint right off it just took this I got a little too much I got a little crazy right here I should have just uh left this alone for now because I got to hit this with the da anyway and knock that back and but I started getting a little wild and it's all right this is all learning experience for me so I came back over here cleaned all this up put also on all this so we're just knocking back the rust wherever we did metal work or wherever we we do need to do some more metal work we got some holes there gotta clean up I gotta clean up this corner here you gotta fill in that weld there what's the filler lots to do you can see here where these engine shelves were all rusty earlier and they are looking pretty good so I'm pretty sure you're supposed to knock that down with water you're supposed to rinse it off with water the next day so we'll do that at some point uh tomorrow or whatever and then we'll lightly sand it when we're ready and put the uh the primer the direct to metal primer that we have on there or we might just use this stuff honestly it's you know this car is not a show car so that rattle can stuff is uh probably fine for this but we do have the surface primer probably what I'm going to do is I'll use some of that stuff to cover all this metal up but inside uh we're gonna break out the paint gun we're gonna get all this stripped down ready for paint we'll put the the surface primer on there and put two or three coats like Mike Epp told me to do get all that covered up and then we'll have a base coat of some sort of off-white that we'll probably put on there and then cover it with the carpet headliner carpet and uh get it ready to go but before I put the carpet in before I put the headliner in and all that stuff I'll probably uh honestly what I want to do is get it all painted and get it back on the chassis and make sure everything is seems sealed properly and covered so that if we do go through a rainstorm or some sort of mud puddle or something that we don't get water inside and there's a lot of holes to cover to make sure that that's not going to happen there's gonna be a lot of stuff I mean there's all kinds of holes that need to be patched and covered and filled that thing I guess it was for a later year so I need to cover that there's two holes here I don't think those belong in here so I need to cover those or weld them up it's all kinds of stuff like that this whole scene back here has to be filled with seam sealer seam sealer all the way around this thing all through these welds all this gets covered with seam sealer and make sure that no water can get in there and get the carpet all wet and also fumes from the exhaust and stuff like that so I want the inside of the cabin to be uh clean and quiet as possible and solid so that we could take it through a rainstorm if we wanted to and not have to worry about it but this has been a bit of a challenge guys I mean this car was doomed I mean it'd been sitting in the field for over 40 years and South Georgia just rusting away long long time to be sitting outside and uh you know that's why it's got that cool patina unfortunately we lost some of it doing some of the body work but you can see how cool it looks on that door I mean the patina is just awesome [Music] and honestly I would love to strip it completely down and paint it and make it look like it just came out of the factory but this car's not uh it's not worth it I mean this if it was a 1950s car novel and even then I mean there's so much rust on this thing that would have to be fixed to make it show quality I mean it's just there's all kinds of pits in here and stuff that would have to be done [Music] there we go it's like ramble on all day long see you guys on the next one let me know in the comments below what do you think about this see ya all right guys we're getting there
