the Grey Cup finals brought to you by national carbon company and northern electric company [Music] northern electric now takes you to varsity stadium for the 1954 a Grey Cup final between the Edmonton Eskimos and the Montreal Alouettes this is the big one the Grey Cup the finale to a football season started way last August Edmonton Eskimos and Montreal Alouettes finalists in the east and west respectively are going to meet on a surprisingly good gridiron we've been led to believe in the field would be a sea of my sweat that's the case it looks like water on the field is not water but put on after last night and this morning [Music] the team over to Stephen Jack's thank you very much Dave nice to be on board the 1954 edition of the Grey Cup between the Edmonton Eskimos and the Montreal Alouettes and I reckon mr. wells from Winnipeg and the West wouldn't save us the same agent well you know it's always the graceful to be here for any breaks up but I think more so this year for some unknown reason I'm getting a tremendous kick out of this Alouettes ban down here these are putting on a great show well they have been a mainstay of the elevate organization thanks to Lou Heyman and several other members who have worked diligently all season long and they're coming into focus strain on the varsity gridiron right at this woman Jack and David just said weather conditions although a little bit on the nippy side would be a wind you say just about ideal football fan football player everybody concerned a I think it will favor the ball players a little it certainly won't be too hot anyway Steve but those the fans well you know there other ways keeping warm and I guess I'll enjoy themselves out here this afternoon Jack this would be the 27th time that the West has challenged the east for the Grey Cup since Edmonton oddly enough came eight in 1921 as an Easterner the so-called transplanted variety I don't want to say this in front of you but it must be factually stated that up to now in 26 previous challenges the West has come out on top four times the Bombers three and Calgary one right well III think you give me the little rub there as B but you're absolutely right you know that the West is only one at four times as you say since the inauguration of this great football passing but I like to say fair that I think it was the Western teams amazing football classic what it is today I mean the color the glamour and all the excitement that goes with a Grey Cup Classic was cause when the when the Calgary Stampeders it made of Toronto back in 1948 you may recall too that it was the 1948 of the Calgary Stampeders won the Grey Cup and you may recall to Steve that the Calgary Stampeders were the only class to go undefeated in an entire season of football that is correct Jack and also of course Calgary played against the Montreal Alouettes from the Alouettes last one in 1949 that's right Jack call attention down to the field where the Alouettes band and drum majorettes have formed a big replica of the Grey Cup we can pick that up down with drum major Allen Anderson way up front Alan Thompson rather way out front has that deep well Jack I was going to suggest that in the very immediate future we're going to put our viewers across Canada see some of the top-notch ball players who will be in action today there is the picture on the screen now the Dave price was talking about just a moment and looking in towards the sideline and the benches the replica of the Grey Cup formed by the Montreal Alouettes very wonderful musical organization hey there there are really glamorous after that that elements that I get a real thrill out of this 115 incidentally Jack we must note right now I think that afternoon a change was made in far as uniforms were concerned before the game it was believed that the Montreal Alouettes would wear their customary Cardinal jerseys with super gray pants and Edmonton was scheduled to wear the green jerseys with gold pants however a change has been made Jack you tell them well of the Edmonton Eskimos will be wearing their old uniforms so there won't be too much contrast with the Alouettes who have the red cardinal sweater and I think our television audience will appreciate this because they do you think they wait uniforms that will be the Edmonton Eskimos and the dark colored uniforms on your television screen will be the Montreal Alouettes and we've seen that wasn't a rich guys fire up here as after they've we've seen the Eskimos in these drawers uniforms before throw the spanking clean I think Dean we won't have any trouble which is a mighty big one today to see much more plainly exactly which side incidentally for those of you who are following numbers out of various spots around the country Anderson will wear 63 with a white uniform and when they will wear 81 those are the only two changes from the present program uh you know what Steve I think of this as being beamed into Fargo North Dakota where and what if I fast as the migrated before this come now his running Fulani I'm the edmonton eskimos day he formerly played with a maryland that club first year up here that steve a great vault where he was very decidedly jack that's for sure I think you saw Freddy play loft when you were down around Maryland they did indeed in a ball handling magician the likes of which you have never seen it right I know I have to call a lot of his plays that during these things is net and the belief they have befooled they opposition play he can pull a broadcaster he's doing mighty good job because there we got trapped or three times do Jackie Parker and he formerly played with Mississippi State's first during their Canadian trouble with picture transmission this morning as a result of Network feet we asked you not to adjust your home receive it we hope to have the trouble corrected as soon as possible to see the 1954 version there's another fireball fire this is the China clipper Tony qualms playing with an Eskimo an Army has been a solid in that backfield of busted Canadian football for quite some time he played of the Calgary Stampeders when they won the Grey Cup back in 1948 and he held the ground gaining record in the Western Conference up until this year a real good stock solid full bang I think is the only Chinese boy playing and big-time football at the present time that flash look you're having right now is the Montreal Alouettes in front of their French but there's a great ballplayer that is this is Ronnie miles of the Advocate has proposed to Steve and I don't think Raleigh needs any introduction he has been dead for pound one of the greatest ballplayers a Canadian football has ever seen I expected Ronnie will have himself a pretty good day out here go ahead oh my god on the field as they move out as it's all just the other way just a few moments I understand you have stuff all played you like to show to let Steve well we have a fella named Sam Etra very just yesterday voted as Canada's top football player of the year the rifle from Denver University throws that baseball type of forward pass if you were observing in pregame warmup Jack and there is the scoring champion of the big four Alex Webster scored 16 touchdowns equal Italian record sets two years ago by you League Curtis Webb does a hard running type of back Jack explosive very definitely thanks Joey pal definitely one of the outstanding Canadian football players plays flying wing and you'll see that number 82 appears in funny of action this afternoon the Alouettes that's for sure how about read old friend have you got a picture of Henry - hell yeah Randall Quinn right now the curly-headed boy played at Wake Forest under his present coach Douglas he had Walker and a bread and butter pass of the out west jack is a buttonhook type pass thrown by etcheverry received by Oh Quinn who goes down from his right hand position and buttonhooks back facing the quarterback about Oh stay seven eight ten yards down and he was the second leading fast receiver in the big four this past season follows the Alouettes lost a real fine pass catch on this voice Patterson I understand suited the Steve Patterson was one of the most amazing first-year men who ever came along and definitely a sensation until he unfortunately broke his ankle in one of those freak accidents when he and Virgil Wagner came together for lighting in attempting to and successfully so knocked down a forward pass by a member of the opposing team it was a real tough break in more ways than one incidentally Jack the officials we might note them now for today's game the referee is hacksaw dice of Ottawa there are three umpires they're clipped Rose born out of Winnipeg Seymour Wilson Bojack of Regina linesman is Sammy Richardson of Hamilton and the field judge is Bill Aaron of Winnipeg those are six men and also there will be a timer for the East and the West and to kick off for this the 1954 break up will take place in just a moment reign banquet sized oven 21 inches wide handles a big bird yet the range is compact most automatic you've ever seen need ice cubes Jack you'll northern electric serves you back [Music] the official kickoff on the field will be taking place in just a moment and the 1954 Grey Cup game between the Edmonton Eskimos and the Montreal Alouettes representing the Western Football Union and the big four will take place miss Joan hunter miss Argonauts was crowned last night as Miss breakup of 1954 in case you had not heard this information previously miss joy Dibble was third they kickoff will take place from the south end of the field to our right which the Montreal Alouettes will defend they will kick off from their 45 yard line they will be attired as you see them on the television screen in the dark jerseys it's a cardinal red to our left the north end of our city stadium the Edmonton Eskimos brand white with gold helmets will receive and the ball game will be underway very shortly I think that was merry Hanukkah Edmonton and the bear starters of the Toronto also officiating it had this kickoff but here this afternoon Steve here is the national anthem ladies and gents [Music] [Music] [Music] automatic frames for your cooking pleasure the journey 14th electric range is only 21 inches wide yet it has all the Most Wanted features for modern electric cooking see the gurney 14th electric range at your northern electric dealers ok Steve right Dave great pool number 79 will kick off for the Alouettes that he has done all season Littman miles and Parker are the three deep man you saw them a few moments ago for the Alouettes and approximately the 5 yard line here we go 1954 break up underway miles in the 4 yard line the 15 upfield to the 25 I need a drag down to hold down my truck Hunsinger number 84 86 and rank pool who did the booting number 79 64 is Vaughn Sheridan standing over the football number 48 on your screen Tommy Hugo the only Hawaiian born player in Canadian football today a product of the University of Denver hello s will probably use a 5 for 3 against the Edmonton Eskimos temporarily at least the ball is on the 33 yard line Eskimos into the field 1st and 10 [Music] Burnie Polonia number nine he is the ball handling wizard quarterback in the Eskimos watch him the quarterback Keith clay and Bernie is a frosty 35 yard line runs smack into the arms 1 Sheridan and Tommy Hugo they bring him down to earth on the 37 again is about four second down and six to go center of the Alouettes forward wall ganged up on Colonial on the quarterback Keith play Eagle Keyes is the Eskimos Center number 40 [Applause] [Music] Oh miles through it the play went a pitchout a short one in the backfield from Bologna volley miles he fired down the far sideline to Jackie Parker and Sheridan and Hills they combined to knock him out of bounds on the 52 yard line and is the first first down from scrimmage of the afternoon Eskimos on the move has taken the kickoff ballgame after one minute of play still scoreless of course Norma Quan is the ball carrier up to the 50 yard line the other west end of the field miller number 72 principal man on the factor again his 8 yards in the plate a second down about two to go Norman Quan once again his number is 95 you keep an eye on the China clipper of the Eskimo is this afternoon Virgil Wagner came up to help make the stop Big Tex Coulter number 60 is in - and so this Tommy Hugo 48 the other ones are going to send deep for this hunt that they're expecting with about two yards to go or less than two yards about a yard maybe so close it is that Capshaw dice the referee is calling for an official measurement the other West figure however that there will be a boot coming up they have sent back brig and Sal as they're too deep man standing around the 10 yard line will show them for you as soon as this measurement is over it is short as you see by about one foot so this pose is a very nice problem for quarterbacks baloney both early in the ballgame Paul is on the 48 yard line on a wet end of the field Eskimos possession third down and less than a yard to go what is the quarterback going to do no confirmation the deep man come running up for the other wet baloney hand it off Rolly Milo's who hit dead into the center of the line and probably made the first down although another measurement could be coming Miller is in Zoe's ELLs be on the stop and big text folder number 16 another measurement [Applause] remember in measuring is the knowledge of that football that counts and I went to get lined up after two minutes of played they kicked off to the Eskimos the Eskimos have moved down through the other 147 Jackie Parker on a direct handoff it's the left side of his own line crosses the 45 is down halfway between the 45 and 41 Sheridan 64 tells be 68 the principal Stoppers on it they place the ball down in the 43 yard line to pick up his four yards second down and six Eskimos certainly don't waste any time in the huddle Bologna's do get that footbaii gonna throw make it Bingley not Parker 81 not 91 conveyed it to Lindley huntzinger coming up from his defensive spot put the stop on him Eskimo first down the ball just inside the 35 yard line so the Eskimos continue to be on the move what a beautiful piece of paper a mr. pallone he pulled that time I told you bottom dude oh you were so right my love the ball carrier 9 thought opens up he's almost the 25-yard line he has stopped down there by huntzinger and Bruce colder 65 was Jimmy Michener 83 also in vintage very close to another first down they split the operations of the Edmonton Eskimos is you've got to say right now giving the Alouettes a bit of trouble a is on the 26 yard line second down two yards to go Bologna on a quarterback sneak maybe he fumbled but I believe recovered if so he's down on the 23 yard line 1 Sheridan number 64 first down Eskimo they are moved from the 31-yard line on the original kickoff way down now first down on the 23 yard line Alouette send to the field Thank You Man Parker juggled that one the same play they executed before so perfectly and kettles base who is playing for the Alouettes in place of Gem State he has been in on 90% of the tackles so far his first down goal to go on the 7 yard line and the Eskimos have moved from about their own 32 all the way down in four consecutive first downs and just Jackie Parker carrying thank you go history turn on the 4 yard line there's a crowd of about 27 thousand 400 roughly in varsity Stadium and I'm sure you can tell from the background they're gone just a little bit wacky it is on the 4 yard line cesium and products have come in for the Alouettes as the elements will set up something like an eight-man line on their own 4 yard line second down goal to go Jackie Parker hit by 10 oz be spin this way from maybe a yard possibly to see where the officials say his forward progress was thought this will be then third down coming Dave price is just reminded me that the Alouettes forward wall when they pack it stuff Hamilton successfully from about the same spot his third down three yards to go for a touchdown man this is great excitement Worley Rowley my own he's gonna be preppy than his own 15 back to the funny still running this way now [Applause] Raleigh miles mustard on about a hundred yard I have nothing in the gray cuff so early in the ballgame the clock shows five minutes and ten seconds gone by and Dean is trying for his forty third consecutive fun for this team I pass it's good thing into that way through what probably was the key block and it was a bruiser this is Bingley on your screen right now the boy who cut that fair thrown by Rowley miles in the end zone Jack wells I'm a little bit flabbergasted out of breath dumbfounded and a few other things what are your reactions well you know it's pretty hard to get excited over a phone like miles because we've seen him do this for the finger on numerous occasions in that Western Conference I never seen a reverses feel so completely though as he did on that particular play and that said tiger rather that block of Bob Dean I think was the hardest block we've seen in a long long time I think was the key block II to eat up open it up for EM miles to cut around that white side again meant for the path Steve it was said before this game started that if the Eskimos got the ball and started at the ground they might go well they were so true they got on through hey Dave Dean will kick off with the Eskimos here we go in action again Alec Webster on the 11 yard line at the 25 they did Boyd birth up and down in the 37 yard line and he has gang tackles there listen is one of the middle hit him brought him down to earth and berry number 55 also on the stop Webster from his 11 brought it back to the well they called at the 38 yard line Alouettes first and 10 Ted sully number 51 is the man you saw calling defensive signals for Edmonton s in front six nothing his Eric Webb throwing the ball carrier number 86 with Briggs coming in to make the stop on him and he stopped him just about maybe half a yard about a foot that's about all you can say so call it second down and 10 yards to go Alouette 38 yard line Webster is a flanker on this side pal goes out on the far side and X for all he does is almost at midfield he piled up there number 87 bryant is one boy who got him Briggs also on the staff and Rowley miles coming up from his defensive spot salmonberries first pass of the afternoon complete Sorrento Quinn for an Ella West first down he I don't know with that start this is gonna be a Lulu to pool for seven yards on the play Johnny bright number 84 defensive back for the Eskimos and Ted Tully 51 put the tackle on him gain is 7 yards it is second down and three the ball is on the 49 yard line Eskimos end of the field and I went possession we have played six minutes at the 1st quarter Edmonton sinks Alouettes nothing I'm singers got it it was deflected he tried the lateral it goes out of bone trying to throw to Joey fell apparently the ball was tipped out by the Eskimos that is the ruling from the field it goes over to Edmonton on their own 48 yard line a 10-yard penalty on the play for fumbling in to touch so indicated by referee Epps all night an Eskimo first down back on their 38 yard line now that was tipped out of bounds I had Steve burr in attention which everybody want to rephrase it by Edmonton fire on that lovely lateral hunting was trying to talked it to Joey pal and an Edmonton arm or hand got in there and tipped it out of bounds [Music] could be I believe it will be first down they say Eskimos possession first and ten from their own 48 well they took the ball in the opening kickoff and went about 78 yards that's unofficial in six first downs for a TD they have possession again with Rowley my line I'm only think good of a Jaquan going into the center handed off the miles then he picked up about eight yards huntzinger from his secondary position came up on the stop bonus on the 53 yard line Alouettes into the field it's second down and just about two yards left to go Jackie Parker dragged down by Virgil Wagner first down for the Eskimos that's the 14th regard Lion Tommy his Bowl xlviii last man off the bottom to file but birch Ragnar number 78 hit him first Eskimos versus tannin that ground attack is short finding out yardage Bernie still got that football players downfield under the handle George right through his hands the weather is about 38 40 degrees and it's a little nippy on the hands of the football players especially and we're trying to receive forward passes Bernie fired that one like a bullet see how he boot like that ball a second down and 10 yards go for the Eskimos he's bald impact baloney throw they said that boy couldn't throw very well but he's thrown a couple of beauties they just didn't flex the person went steaming through the hands of mentally that last one was defense beautifully by hunting her so there is the first decided break of the football game recovery of the fumble so deep in the opposition territory lateral pass by Bernie Fulani went badly is praise the only man close to it could not fall in the ball but big cat out Lee who has played a whale of a game kids oh and the Alouettes have recovered in the tide has turned the other way the lateral was intended for Rowley miles well how do you like them apples virtual Wagner on that pick out those of this putting in the center of the field slips down to words but about the 20 yard line picked off baby 2 yards in the place Parker and Tully's principally responsible for the stuff along with Johnny bright 84 is bright 61 there is Bob Dean joy palace blanked out on the near sidelines for the other way second down and eight [Applause] [Applause] a 90-yard touchdown by the owen showing you as we have talked before their explosive power play start at the 20 yard line Jackie Parker hit O'Quinn as he change direction on about the 3 yard line but red slithered on his knees over the goal line and it is evidence 6 Alouettes 5 with conversion attempt by race pool coming up man it's very holes in the 12 yard line ball game is deadlocked at the beat [Music] well Quinn of course Jack was the second toughest receiver in a big floor this past season al Pfeiffer as a Toronto Argonauts was the number one man and he only also don't win and I believe the last week or two of the season but after that Gallup on that little tiny button hook job jump pass right over the center what they call the Pro pass he burst into the clear three Eskimos tried to get him in Parker well I thought Parker was going to it about the 10 yard line O'Quinn change direction and then hit him on the - Eddie believe the game is varsity 3 Western nothing in the first quarter rainfall will kick off and his miles underneath the goalposts and Dave West number 97 the last man you saw and over end to West the 10-yard line the 20 is hit there and back down on the 24 first man to hit him was Bill bule a gut feeling 87 on the tackle and Sammy Moran number 77 fielding for luck and Moran combine to bring him down on the 24 yard line Eskimos ball first and 10 that tremendous pass played by etcheverry to O'Quinn certainly changed the complexion of the ballgame because just a moment before the Eskimos had recovered a fumble and then baloney toss a wild lateral and the other West recovered janky Parker him on the direct handoff from Bernie baloney it's the center of the line he is ganged up there Jimmy Miller is one man there he is 72 81 is Johnny blazer 6-day the big guy text holder of course you can count on him being on the bottom of almost any file and the same goes for Hugo and Sheridan 48 and 60 4 respectively having a good look at them right now that's Wagner 78 at the bottom of your screen Namie Quang the handoff from Cologne II hit through the center holder got him first hunter came up and so did Sheridan and this is very close to a first down the game on the first play we tried a collected to give you was four yards now referee sold I says bring those sticks in and we'll miss we have approximately four minutes left now with the first quarter ball game is tied at six points apiece miles to Lindley for a touchdown for the Eskimos right from the kickoff that is short by well Jack you say about an inch and a half think that's just about it I got the glass bonus to Steve and it's just that joy so it is third down coming Wallace on the 38 yard line nobody goes deep for the Alouettes figuring that the Eskimos will run possibly a quarterback sneak by Fulani or maybe a handoff the miles to qualm let's see Bologna on the quarterback sneak is over the 35 yard line piled up there for the center of the line led by Sheridan and colder and number 68 Ted Elsberry a roughing penalty has been called against one Sheridan on the pile up tackling Bologna on the quarterback Keith play roughing penalty signaled excessive use of the elbows says half shoulders as you saw it against Juan Sheridan but the penalty marches the ball up to the 50 yard line Eskimos possessions their territory first and ten Tommy Quang baloney victimized but he had given the vault Quang Duc McNichol from his right hand defensive spot came in hit him along with John Fletcher and Sheridan Eagle keys the Eskimos very valuable Center man was injured on the last play the gain on the famous maybe a yard it is just about the 51 yard line Don Berry number 55 you see them on the right lower corner of your screen now goes in he'll replace T's if he is taken out of the game and undoubtedly he will be for at least a short period of time seems to be his right leg that was injured he is going to be helped off the field there are your Eskimos 66 is Nelson 81 is Lindley 61 is Dean just to give you a few numbers that are viewable on the screen 98 just turned around Raleigh Miles Davis Eagle Keys is hurt services sandy enough that he'll stress this campus without the Restless game that's too overly hamper that Evans in that lying considerably because it's a two-way man he plays offensive and defensively as well another oddity about you miss Keyes is that he played for the 1949 Alouettes the last time they won the Grey Cup here yesterday opposing them is 2nd down and 9 from the 51 Eskimo territory their possession hello he's still got it it rolls down the center [Applause] Hunsinger from his defensive position for the Alouettes got Steve's been deaq who I believe played mostly defensively this year for the Eskimos but took a nice direct pass down in the secondary and is down for an Eskimo first down on the 32 referee half show dice is giving the three-minute signal to both teams on the field and now to the stands and all officials concerned three minutes to go in the first quarter tie ballgame in the 54 Grey Cup Edmonton 60 Alouettes 6 was evident on the move first and 10 at the other West 32 the Quinny was a man who went in motion ball carrier his partner and he he drives beautifully down to the 24 where he is met by his virtual Wagner and Vaughn Sheridan I would hazard against Sharon has been on 75% the Ottoman tackles so far the gain on the play is eight guards second down into from the Alouettes 24 pong the ball carrier should be good for the first down and man what a pilots Sheridan Jimmy Miller principled man to hit him there's big number 60 SEC's colder and Sheridan and LD with 68 you saw at the corner of your screen first down for the Eskimos and I went 21 yard line tie ballgame at six points apiece about two minutes to go in the first period Larry Craig hit him down there that is another first down and goal to go Bruce Coulter number 65 helped on that cycle to deepen the secondary and you see the other ones lining up on the five-yard line the ball is on the sixth and it's the third time in the first quarter yes Mo's have had the ball very deep in Alouettes territory is scored 100 times on a fumble hello knee all the way Oh sir wait a minute hold it two official threw their hands up two others are now giving the no score signal the ball is about a yard maybe short of the goal line definitely one if not two officials throw their hands up in the air and two others right here the goal line said no soap on it baloney a beautiful piece of quarterbacking cut the other West by surprise on a quarterback stink from that part out here is a nice discussion going on right around the goal line the other West you may be sure will pack that goal line they have seven men and they'll probably move up to about nine on the goal line baloney prize I think he is he was tough hit hard please visit us in the front door Meatwad was responsible for helping I believe from the side but burning phony on two quarterback states in succession has moved down Frankie Morris former member of the Toronto Argonauts was mainly responsible for some good blocking which enabled full only to go over the roughing penalty by the other West Juan Sheridan certainly helped that nothing Center from Don Barry was very high Maloney had no alternative there's the X all-american from the University of Maryland was for that PD and then tried to run all the conversions so your score board now chose was still about a minutes a quarter to go in this first footer and man what a quarter the Eskimos 11 they Alouettes six just a moment ago in front of the Montreal bench coach Douglas P head Walker and Big Jim Stacy up on his feet and was talking to him near the sidelines tell me Steve Faison injured Staton had a bad knee from last year and injured his ankle not too long ago and has not played to any extent in the last three of four elevate games he probably will come in very shortly Dean kicks off for the Eskimos the wind is picking it may take it out of bounds bring on about the 15-yard line running back hit once and ganged up on the 15 yard line Tully is the man who hit him first and responsible for making the stop on him with Hudson number 50 and vendrick number 88 the women and flag is now up at the sidelines so we have less than 60 seconds to play that's the boy calling defensive signals and there's your play Jack wells is going to come in and handle play-by-play commentaries for this second and third quarters of this game hunting areas the ball carrier spins his way up almost to the 20 yard line before he stopped principally by Gentiles Jimmy Weatherall number 63 was also on the stun volley is on the 20 yard line a gain is almost 5 yards so it is second and about five to go less than half a minute to play in the first quarter and will he won Jackie Parker just babes here it is another one first down on the 42 yard line first and 10 with less than half a minute to go in this first quarter this is the answer to 27,000 odd football fans prayers that I haven't see a great ballgame they sure are Colin Fraser and number 66 with Rutgers Nelson they nailed him you don't trap sanika very too often in the backfield but those two big boys sure did Fraser's 235 Nelson is 225 in fact with a 28 yard line second down about 24 yards to go [Music] damn is looking for hunting you're throwing deep to him Parker and the gun has sounded to wrap things up for a hectic first quarter believe me and the score at the end of first quarter is the Edmonton Eskimos in Lebanon Montreal Alouettes 6 the Grey Cup game coming to you from varsity stadium in Toronto northern electric serves you best with Sylvania TV let's hear now from the voice of the West Jack Wills thank you very much team and a good good afternoon football fans love the snakes in the big one in favor the Edmonton Eskimos and we're going into the second quarter and it'll be Alouettes ball third down and let's see it's a good 10 22 yards to go after edger Barry was speared on a past plan the second play was incomplete and so the Alouettes in the dike uniforms on your television screen on the left safety man or the the deep empathy Eskimos will be baby West and Kruger there's Davey West number 87 nice up on me and Perez the other deep man timing is called so it is third down and approximately 20 40 call make your a pool or rather take colder move back to do the funding as the snap gets it away man he puts the mood to it there's any we're taking it off with rides on the party and he'll shut down [Applause] and it'll be first and ten for the Edmonton Eskimos on their old 44 yard lines every have shown this is waving the ball on and as we said a few moments ago there's an injured Alouettes army face and a can't identify him for you as yet as there is a group of players around him as the Montreal Alouettes 64 one Sheridan players dependents gain in that line for the Alouettes not only in this one of these armies at it a tremendous season doing a lot of hard tackling for the Eastern champions and the score is 11 of six early stages of the second quarter so two ball players now have been injured Eagle Keys of the other past malls was hurt in the first quarter although we noticed that he was parading up and down in front of the fans earlier the injured player is big duck McNichol that find offensive and of the Montreal Alouettes and he is being assistant to the sideline totally first and ten for the Edmonton Eskimos on their own 44 after Davey West has returned to Tanks boulders punt I brought to me 10 yards after fumbling it Eskimos back in the huddle Galla wets have five-man line out there like this ship into a six-man line timing to call that summer well McNichol was assist on the field it's Barry over the falls for the Eskimos they go under the deformation come on he is the quarterback and the handoff is given to rolling miles stop by Larry gray number 87 and he quotes the first time very Greek just check his number there he is listed as 87 on our program he's thankfully 89 out on the ball field so it is second down and we might have a measurement here charge sticks up they'll be taken out capsule dies the referee from Ottawa as there was measurement called for by the captain of the Eskimos the Frankie Morris number 52 L suppose in the white collar jerseys on the right of your television screen now there goes the yardstick just about a yard short it'll be second down and one for the other contestable on their own 54 53 sorry break out of the huddle for the Eskimos flying wing is they Glenn make Winnie right half is lonely miles all back Tony Kwan left half Jackie Parker and the quarterback is ready for loading second down one you had to go and there's not a quark over left tackle I think he picks up enough yardage for a first down get the knife blocking they're opening the hole was the Bary Center and DeWitt called it better known as text folder number 64 the Alouettes left tackle and a rainbow number 79 made the pack so it is first and ten for the Everton Eskimos dead center on the 55 yards trying and the score is the 11 to 6 in favor on the Evans and escamoles over the Montreal Alouettes playing in the better we gained about three eyes on the place want to be second down and seven yards to go the ball now in Montreal territory on about the 53 at berry over the ball technical difficulties have interrupted fixture transmission of the Grey Cup game this morning audio is still audible so we'll continue with sound and hope to have picture restored in just a mother two years in a row and he backs up the center of the line he was floating out there with Bologna on that play deep man for the Alouettes then number 93 is Bill Julie Julie and on the far side number 82 is joy pal and the deep end number 82 joint pal and number 93 Bell bewdley there's time otters call for having a conference if facials have so nice of Ottawa except Rawls for up with a bag and Seymour Wilson of Hamilton although jack off Regina and time in his call will be third down and seven a goal for the Edmonton Eskimos on the Montreal Alouettes 53 yard line at Siegel keys at better and he is limping you can possibly notice that on your television screen baloney or kicked on his own 45 yard line there's the snap almost loud and fury taking it on the champ he's backed up to the 15 and he's bugged on about the 16 yard line by Bill Drake's and Jimmy quarter Matteo but first and ten for the Montreal Alouettes on their own 15-yard line Tom Jugal almost blocked that kick he was through and Maloney who was playing 15 yards behind the center need of that extra five yards get that kick away Julie making the catch on the tan running it up to the 15 Montreal Alouettes is nonetheless and the rifle that you bury as the quarterback and Ted Tully who was calling the defense for the Edmonton Eskimos and they shipped into a five-man line 5-4 flank of his joy pal echeverria at quarterback here's the pitch out to Webster Webster down the left side and his butt down about the 18 yard line by Rolen player number 74 Webster Alec Webster the leading scorer and the big for this year took the pitch out from Saanich a very carried to the 20 it's a gain of five it'll be second down and five 15 yards in from these sidelines as far as the 11 effects in favor of the Edmonton Eskimos the Montreal Alouettes Jews the orthodoxy here is the answer Mary born back to throw and the pastor's incomplete it was knocked down by Bill Briggs you got a piece but it was intended for Big John read old friend the boy who went 90 yards for touchdown in that first quarter say we've had two spectacular touchdowns scored in this ballgame when on short jump pounds to carry 90 yards and rolling miles scoring first for the ovens and Eskimos if you were thought Aspen late as a reverse this field and to a pastor to the end zone so it is that big thanks call the banking kick formation there's the snap back to the sex hold against the book to us yes very peculiar stance and that kick is taken by Davey wells down the 50 on he's trapped on the 54 Tom you go and Ray pool for the 55 yard line 15 yards in from the east side lines the ferry is the center so the strategy then for the Edmonton Eskimos on using Eagle keys was just to snap that ball back on that set that quicker on that kick formation for the 11 to 16 papers now the Eskimo Eskimos over the ball and here's baloney pitching out to Rowley my old files on the oxen play faster ride it goes the pass out on the 45 is on the 40 is up to the 35 and his bananas on the 30 yard line Fletcher finally got the Jackie Parker ran him into touch and four of the Eastern fans doing as this ball game this afternoon now that is the type of play that the Western sports writers and counselors have been talking about with Edmondson that dangerous play off the option play Dave price and Steve Douglas just pointing out to me - that is the third time they do that play successfully so it's first and ten for the Eskimos on the air Montreal Alouettes 30-yard line Lonnie using that split T now here's the pitch to a Parker there's the throw and it is incomplete and Jennifer Lindley on the wife say father I rather Bruce Boulder's 65 was the past defenders he chipped it away from lemon a who scored the one of the two touchdowns the Eskimos have picked up so it'll be second down and 10 ago going in for the Eskimos number 51 is Italian coming out out of 52 Frankie Morris I think this is Frankie Morris's death break up final second was the Edmonton Eskimos and I think it was in three with the Toronto Argonauts so it's berry over the ball the flanker has a shade wide to the right can't quite seem on your screen that's mcclenney and here's the keeper play with baloney huh bootlegging that ball as a pitch and Ottawa it was being covered by a jolly husband ger salty third third down and tentacle for the Edmonton Eskimos on the Montreal Alouettes 30 score is the 11 aspects for the Eskimos playing the second quarter now we go keys limps out onto the field and if you were the quarterback here and you had a play some kicker like Bob Dean would you try for a field goal [Music] coming up is volley mile also berry gonna be third down and ten to go for the Edmonton Eskimos on the Alouettes 30 they have the the Eskimos have you batty job that the wind I don't know just what the velocity is so it is going to be an attempt of placement by Bob Dean number 61 he'll kick from about the 37 yard line safety man is deep there's the kick there goes the ball and it's in there for three points Bob Dean digging one from the 37 yard line to make the score 1414 a safe man that was quite a boot testes jacket was particularly and I'm enjoying it for one reason that Bob Dean also played at the University of Maryland and when the evident team landed here the other night I said Bob how does it happen that you run up 42 consecutive conversions plus a lot more field goals than you used to kick at Maryland and eat that don't forget that the goalposts here are on the goal line and not 10 yards behind and I love it oh and the pro ball on the state's the right off the goal line I believe both Steve are they not okay first and 10 for the Montreal Alouettes on their own 35 there's the very staying in the park of the bounce is dominated by Bill Braves Braves of Captain Bob 41 herb Kovac God breaks down and that's the first interception of the ballgame borders first and ten for the Edmonton Eskimos on the Montreal Alouettes 42 yard line and Bill Briggs who has been something of a fast in a such a most in the Western Conference the past two or three years got one in the key spot just now 1406 for the Eskimos over the Montreal Alouettes first and ten for the Eskimos there's Barry over the ball montreal using a six-man line his Bologna using that split tee now it's back to a Parker Parker passes and it's the incomplete intent of parolee miles and the Virgil Wagner came up to knock it down scored his second second and 10 for the Eskimos 74 their walk the wall just bring up the Alouettes that's dark McNichol oh his back in the ball game he was shaken up earlier McNichol they tell me has faded has had a tremendous season on that white defensive end for the Alouettes this year he's a Canadian boys man he's big moving around two-30 I believe he hit by a ball that size your head second down 10 to go Eskimos ball bankers to the right and the back field goes off emotional attitude the opening play over senator miles up to the 30 and his that trapped on the video online as the handkerchief here or a flag on the play Jim mister finally nailed a miles up on the 30 and it's an upside against the Edmonton Eskimos he play as nullified will be brought back to the point of scrimmage which is on the mantra Halloween 22 [Music] yes amateur Barry Egan either as for a measurement or the folding captain Ted Tully he can as well and somebody I'd short for first I'll be second down and one for the Montreal Alouettes bull bankers Wagner and the pitch out is to Webster and he's up to the buddy five up to the 27 yard line taken out by wealthy and it'll be first and ten for the Montreal Alouettes on their own 27 score is 1406 for the Edmonton Eskimos six minutes gone in the second quarter the right ball hands off to her don't factor obstacles to his life and he's brought down by Lindley after gain of close to five is up to about the 32 33 it's better than a five yard gain I'm 31 is Earl Lindley who scored one of the two touchdowns they're supposed to picked up that's a six-yard gain will be second down and four to go on their own 33 now enter berry stays in the pocket he's gonna pass down the middle and it's a great one today five Webster and he really held that whatare up to the 50 regs Bell Bragg's nail him on the 50 online is first and 10 for the Montreal Alouettes and they're trailing by a score of 14 of thanks but they made a downfield mais to their own 50 from their own two yard line with Bill bule they've received a baloneys kick blank a joy palace two laps here is the Ehlinger a legendary rather in the pocket now he peels out and he's up to the 55 he's brought down on the effort that has to halt 53 yard line by King Mike King and Roland pacer hey Tommy is that you Barry is not afraid to take off when he gets out of that pocket and there is a job I always take him pretty hard there he was a little slow getting up a gain of a charge will be second and two ball is on the Edmonton Eskimos 52 yard line Montreal using that stat Orthodox tea and the handoff is given to hunting tears he might have and he carries up to the 40 46 yard line for first down stop by Briggs and Roger Nelson first and ten for the Montreal Alouettes they're on the moves around the March playing on the second quarter first and ten for the Alouettes joy pal thanks to the right hunter giris wide to the right here is that you Barry and the spot there's the throw and turning Finn has brought down on the thirty as he makes the catch simultaneously with the tackle by Rowley mile so its first and ten for the Montreal Alouettes as Edgar Barry better the needle to read old friend man that old Fincham catch what Tina sticks in favor of the Evans Eskimos playing in the second quarter first and ten for Monty all on their own 30 timeout is called it's Mike Kane I was taking a breather and the time is called maintain coming to the sideline and goes bills off in number 62 Zarqa Sparta babe one of the truly great veterans of Canadian football this is 19th season in Major League football and it is Mike King though as coming to the sidelines so doc go bad on that step right choice rake time in this call first and ten for the Montreal Alouettes on the Edmonton Eskimos 30 banking wide to the right is hunting Earth and here's the pitch out to Webster went to get the nice blocking Paul is doing the blocking and he's brought down on the 25 if someone starts to go again hey Paul watching from that two left end spot so what a nice key block for a ball carrier and then they finally brought him down it's again our five guys would be second down second down and five guards gonna better than five Gannon let's make it a six yard game before it goes [Music] on tralala with fans I was shooting it up here here's the pitch out to hunt the guy hunting girl waiting wide to his ride he's on the 30 that's miles after him he's on the 25 he's brought down on the 20 I will be very close to that first down marker looks like I think it was trapped there on a couple of occasions and hunting girl was hurt on that last play so timeout is called and gives us a chance to reduce the score with the Edmonton Eskimos later the Montreal Alouettes by a score 1406 how much time we got left in this Portis team about six and a half minutes unofficially to the end of the first half and the Alouettes very definitely jack could ill afford to lose the services of the former University of Florida and Chicago Bear star Chuck huntzinger he went roaring down the sidelines there and came awfully close as you called it to a first down and he was racked up apparently on the tackle well right now I would say the 27,000 I think the official count is 321 over the 27,000 mark fans at varsity stadium under almost ideal conditions for football are having themselves a great time Chuck is up on his feet and being helped to the Arrowhead bench and I imagine he will be back in action before too long goes by certainly all Alouettes supporters Jack's would hope there oh I'll be playing on that right house but then the huntzinger as the injured does probably build bewdley and I think I see number 93 in the oven backfield right now and that is Dooley how they bringing out the yard sticks again for this measurement it's so close they've got the whole stick down there and that's the referee half shoulders moving at towards the montreal line ball is placed on the 20 and then his third down and less than he ought to go Julie is playing in that the right-half spot he's number 93 it's on the keeper play without your very caring he may have picked up that necessary first down and the wave on the ice takes on its first and 10 for the Montreal Alouettes ah the Edmonton Eskimos 19 yard line Pecha berry on the keeper play got some nice blocking there by race to see a number 51 little flower as deers refer to and Montreal Alouettes back at ballclub new ball is being put into play so that's all he calls the defensive setup for the Eskimos and they're using something like a six-man line Subban line with right footing on Steve that's building flanking why for the left in the high spot there's the picture to Wagner's Virgil Wagner and he hits over Center up to the 14 yard line we stopped by King and the Alouettes are in a good spot to do any place when taking that is required if a drive should bar down but they have lost the positions of all since that Julie made the catch on his own - and they've mice all the way down the field down to the Everton Eskimos 14 yard line joy pal 5,000 laughs dad hears that you're very staying in the part of the faster down the middle and it's on the one did you see that guy his old friend I was somebody three to capture the spoils he hauls it in like an outfielder so the score is Evan 1014 Montreal in event and a conversion here by Ray Paul we're dead fill out that test score going back in for the Alouettes is Donald Quinn and the rape ball is almost automatic on these convert is good and there's a two-point difference as Montreal Alouettes score his read old print on the screen a second touchdown of the ball game may recall the earlier part of this game he went 90 yards on a jump fast I gave Montreal their first touchdown and he went up in the air and pulled that last one down like an outfielder well Jack D Drive in this case in which the Alouettes sustained it all the way down the field was good for 100 yards with the historic win scoring the TD so he hasn't done too bad in this afternoon a that's a nice piece of real estate no matter how you look at saw the score is 14 to 12 in favor of the Montreal Alouettes play in the second quarter with six minutes remaining in this period and the ball is being placed on the 45 rate ball will do the kicking and the safety man on the deep man for the Alouettes or rather for the other pros will be Kerala fan Rowley miles and Jackie Parker Parker closest in the corner there number 91 that's Rowley miles 98 I'm in a spa here comes rape all up as the shortcake and it's taken by an Army pawn pawn his on his own 40 and he's brought down on about the 44 honey Quan taken out by grateful oh it's first exam for the Edmonton Eskimos on their own 45 yard line looks like a deliberate shortcake there is Steve Jack they've done that a great many times during the big four season and you may expect to see it quite a few more times this afternoon I do believe first and 10 for the Edmonton Eskimos Barry over the ball alone Ian for a bag flanker is to make Winnie and the handoff is given to Nami kwanghee dives on a better a dive play up to the 52 yard line he pulled down by Johnny bleacher it's a gain of seven guys totally second down and three second down and three eyes to goal for the Edmonton Eskimos on their own 52 there's number 55 breaking out of the huddle that's the berry replacing the injured eagle cheese Maloney barking out those signals and the handoff is given to Jackie Parker over right tackle number 91 and he stopped by Sheridan and text holder and it's a first down for the Edmonton Eskimos on the Montreal Alouettes 15 free online so the Eskimos are trying to start a drive of their own 474 on your screen there for the Alouettes that's that dog make they call the ride defensive and now it's Barry pull the ball as from all using that spotty and it's Tommy Kwan number 95 there's no hole there's the left side of that Emmental I'm was really holding and Cuong gone back and will be second down it's gain of about one yard big text folder and a Jimmy Miller number 72 is Miller's and 60th text folder Claudia's second down and a nine yards to goal three five minutes to play in this corner there's the official five-minute whistle which is a new ruling and as Canadian football this year five-minute warning facility end of the second and fourth quarters estimates break the huddle Lonnie and our 240 miles and it didn't work that's colder and the state really bullying on it and Miller thought is a gain of one yard would be third down and the safety man for the yellow wets bailey father beauty and enjoy a foul as buley number 93 and Joey pal number 82 Kalani will kick from his own 45 yard line he's a good 15 yards behind the center there's the snap get the ball away and he's really put the vote to this one and Dooley take the tires off goal line he's on the five gets up to the chair and his butt down on the 18-yard line my berry cupcake our fellow knees went 63 yards in the air so it is first and ten for Montreal Alouettes on a month row 19 not quite for the 20 and the score is 14 to 12 playing in the second quarter watching to 12 in favor of the Edmonton Eskimos first and 10 for Montreal as there's the big one off the season four minutes to play flankers wide to the left there's the pitch out to Virgil Wagner and he's hit hard as he comes through by Johnny Bryce and his bright cut in from that he's backing up the corner of the right corner of that line right and Tully what is the gain of 3 yards will be second down and 7 the ball is on about the 23 yard line Montreal 23 Alouettes you that open huddle Webster and PAL 5 wide to the left by Wagner in motion and news thank you very go to pass he can't find a receiver he takes off he's on the 25 and he's brought down on about the 28 fans away Fletcher berry but down by Lindley girl Lindley and his clothes for first down say the seneschal barriers are running quarterback now the way that he can't spot a receiver and declare he'll run with the ball in I'm out is called and it'll be third down and about what fall is not about the Montreal 29 yard line yes he'll go over the ball they're gonna run it there's a pitch out and it's over the Webster Webster mix-up the first time dive play over the right side of the effort of my picks up about four yards stuff I will see so let's first and 10 for the Montreal Alouettes on their own 33 both these clubs are gambling today other words on those there's third down plays whether you are to to to go they're both score both teams are going for double flankers to the left I'm singer and foul though they pitch down the middle and they get my bull is on the 45 he's up to about the 4d hey John I before you stop by bright and Jackie Parker thought first and 10 for the Montreal Alouettes the net to bury as threading the needle he's going along the clothes line of the same the time he through the pool a pool instead of Donald Quinn first intent Montreal Alouettes on their own 40 inch on line three minutes to play in the half Alex Webster flanks wide to the right 486 can't seem on your screen right now here is edgy very thing in the body here's the lateral orbital hunting areas on the 45 he's on the fifties run down by on the 53 by Lindley on the Montreal Alouettes 53 it's a gain of 3 yards it'll be second down and 7 and flat fast went from a very true hunting home start is second down and 7 yards to go on a three yard game 15 yards in from the web sidelines hallouwe and everything are using five-man line now where's the fight well back there's the fun pass to falling now to make the catch by Johnny bright and first down aren't they ever can ask of all 50 online Johnny bride who was the great offensive style with the Calgary Stampeders until he was ranked up by injuries have been used almost entirely as a defensive back for the Edmonton Eskimos this year number 84 you see my to the top of your screen there he is the floating out toppled wide plays you don't notice how at that you're very staying in the box you've got a budget get the plat pass away to Wagner Wagner is brought down on the 50-yard line there's gonna be a loss of what a yard Tulley Chuck Wagner speed from under him on a dive block that'll be second down antibody Levin yards to go 15 yards in from the east side line so minutes remaining in the first half of the score is 14 to 12 for thee Evans and Eskimos and we have a bomb player who was taken up and I believe it was Jackie Parker who has still down on one knee it is Parker number 91 he's coming to the sidelines he'll have to come off released one play going in for the Eskimos number 97 is Davie West bringing out the defensive back Jack you're talking about Johnny bright a great offensive star Drake University and also with Calgary playing a bang-up defensive game today let's not overlook a fellow named Earl Lindley who was high score in the United States last year with the Utah Aggies and today has made about 50% or more of your edmonton tackles he's been a standout on defense and he also got that touch one of those touchdown passes too there's the open huddle of the Montreal Alouettes Sam had a very calling the signals the rifle as he is referred to number 92 they break out of the huddle it's a second down and 11 to go using the T and the shifters to the right here thank you very far back to and [Music] I can't play we'll say and the path will be rolled complain on the 25 on the Edmonton Eskimos 25 it'll be first and 10 for the Montreal Alouettes on the other than Eskimos 25-yard line on a pass interference play against Rea will see wealthy wears them all sty defensive back in the Western Conference and he's been out of action for the past few weeks but a broken arm flanking to the right as Malik Webster and joy palace does he flanker on the right now here's like to bury in the Box anomaly but down plays her and there was a football fumble on the play free throw hit enter very fast on the fumble etcheverry may have recovered his own fumble and a wait to see it second down and severe recovers the fumble as the freighter barreled in number 74 is from that right hand there he is touching his helmet now banking out to the left is Joey PAL 14 to 12 and these is that you Barry and they box again and there's a pitch attitude blood through Reynold fed he carries up to the pan I'm Club au chr9 place up by Jackie Parker of Quinn hook Santa from that right hand to make a spectacular catch again so bump y'all are dressing as a minute flag is up for the first half and the now the Alouettes will be fighting the park as well so it's the first thing goal the goal for the Montreal Alouettes about the eighth that's their flank wide and here is the pitch out to hunting her he's on the fight against endures blocking and and black Babar [Music] [Applause] all the Montreal Alouettes go to the front for the first time in the ballgame and the score Montreal Alouettes 17 edmonton eskimos 14 but time running out as the first half of the ballgame that white run time for the big points and now ray Paul well gold for the convert ball number 79 well extra berry will hold as a snap there's the cake now the pas de point of God and thus far in favor here's the other girl who's caught that last touchdown for the Montreal Alouettes on your screen now and the Montreal Alouettes it almost the last seconds of play in the first half for a converted touchdown to go to the front by a score of 18 of 14 Montreal Alouettes 18 Evans an Eskimos 14 and the minute flag is up so there's less than a minute to play the Eskimos will receive and the safety man be let done then left the number 95 40 miles 98 and Davie West number 97 Jay Paul will do the kicking kicking from his own 45 remember all these kickoffs it's a free ball everybody's on side there it is another one of those Shortcake's and it's taken Bob and Yankees on his own 40 up to the 45 brought down on about the 50 by Virgil Wagner and Ray fools so it's first and ten for the Eskimos on their own 50-yard line and they still have time for at least one play as a minute flag is still up down the sidelines here first and ten for the evident Eskimos on their own 50 berry breaks the huddle Montreal go into a six-man line six one of the defending with that umbrella pass defense as is Bologna pulling out of the pocket there's the past and it is incomplete intended for flanker grandma Quinny and he was being covered by Charlie huntzinger wanna be second down and ten ago how does that Montreal defense they throw up an umbrella defense on this particular sequence because there was time almost out in the first half the Eskimos naturally have to gamble their time for those long brown gaining place so the Montreal Alouettes line is a 5-2 that's berry out of the huddle Eskimos over the ball banking whites of the ride is bending 20 number 93 has the entire backfield emotion baloney being rushed on this a custom blocking there's the past and it is gone up to the 40 Efendi Ike and he charges up to about the 32 yard line he stopped by Johnny bleacher and the flag is still up and stall they still have time for another play it's first and 10 for the Edmonton Eskimos on the Montreal Alouettes 32 going in as bill sock and eagle keys eagle Keyes is limping into that step ballgame on a bad left angle an ankle and second camping here we'll say the bob d may a try a place and that's what's gonna happen he'll kick from the 38 39 yard line there's the snap it was the kick and it's taking on the goal line is not good as on day five hunting around the five and he's grounded on about the six as the gun sound to end the second the first half of the ballgame and the score at the end of the first half of the straight up game from varsity stadium in Toronto as Montreal 18 the Edmonton Eskimos 1482 14 in favor of the Montreal Alouettes bringing to life other important northern electric equipment to help you live that man oh man what a ballgame the experts certainly must be confounded on this one yeah it's five to one in the Alouettes the score 1814 by that terrific march of the elves late in the second quarter here's the way the scoring went you recall and the kickoff battle wedge kicked off to the Edmonton Eskimos they got it on their own before and then all the way down the line to the final touch down within the first few minutes of the ballgame and they went out in front six to nothing over the Alouettes yellow it's tatted-up Webster for the first time the 23 bring got the ball on the kickoff a long kick on the 12 yard line Webster for the first of the 23 then pitch out was fumbled and recovered by Edmonton on the Alouette 12 and on the first play of baloney lateral was fumbled and the Owls recovered that's through a short jump faster O'Quinn and the redhead went many yards for the touchdown fools convert good and that ties the score up at 66 the Eskimos but out front again 11 to 6 Keyes was hurt on their first play in that particular sequence and a pass to been deaq for the first down in the 32 Barker went to the 24 Kuang for the first down on the 21 long for another first down to the 6 and then Bologna went to 1/2 yard from the goal line on a quarterback sneak the second time he made no mistakes he went over but the convert was no good the score Eskimos 11 Alouette 6 and that's the way the scoring ended at the end of the first quarter the Eskimos then went out front 14 to 6 when teams 37-yard field goal was good and it was from a bad angle which was on the 15 yards in 15 yards from the touch and from the 37 yard line rather difficult angle but he made it good and that puts the expose front again down on the field right at the moment we'll give her the balance of the scoring shortly but there are the drum majorettes of the Montreal Alouettes the band you will hear in the background they came up especially for this game from Montreal they had but it's time down there to get finances together to bring the band and the drum majorettes up here but they did it and they're a very very fine organization in that third quarter yes drop side on the second down and finally had to kick it was short to the ten Julie took it on the - as a matter of fact ran it out to defend and Webster to the 25 a forward to Webster to the 50 for a first down that's very bright and an option play with the Hunsinger for a first down at the 46 then another long festival 24 the touchdown and the first down whether in the 30 Hunsinger ran back for 9h a sneak for a first down and then a fast walk when which bull converted Eskimos 14 the Alouettes 12 fools kickoff was short - for the first down in the 44 Bologna 63 yard kick front back to the 25 beauty first down to the 35 the pass to pull for another first down at the 48 another faster pool another first down on the [Music] Montreal 15 predatory Eskimo 50 I'm sorry a long festival creme was declared good on the 25 when interference play was called against Edmonton Quinn made a great catch on a buttonhook for a first down on the 8 and then huntzinger over and along and run to put the Owls ahead for the first time the al 18 the Eskimos 14 and that was just a very fine hand and a very well-deserved fan you just heard for the band and the drum majorettes of the Montreal Alouettes [Music] this game is coming to us make one correction in these statistics that were brought in whoever added them up added them up quite quickly and we did not verify it and check it with 16 first downs for Montreal and that 10 as we now the band moving around the points of the compass is made up by the drum majorettes moving over to the east then will point these two guesses what they're going to play [Music] and the wet turn [Music] I thought perhaps the Montreal fans Alouette fans who are up here would be joining in and singing but I think there's still a little bit too stunned by that four point lead their club has managed to eke out over the Eskimos in this first half [Music] Linley freighter Parker among some of the Edmonton Eskimos who were pretty outstanding in that first half for the CB u t channel to Vancouver [Music] the van now I'm watching down to the North End in fact we'll play 12th Street drag according to their program and we'll show you the versatility of this band [Music] but by drum major Alan Thompson [Music] and here they go they'll probably get Alan in this too they usually do there he goes [Music] [Music] when you get a lot of the band's been out there now is the drum majorettes as you see Chris Thomas down at the ground having themselves a ball [Music] [Music] and this drink up game is coming to you from varsity Stadium in Toronto now the band of the majorettes will march off the field to the bandstand and playing my truly truly fair great organization yellow wet team just come out of their dressing room the officials are back on the field they'll just have to wait for a few minutes to straight organization the other West band that drum majors get back over to their Bandstand [Music] come the edmonton eskimos out of their dressing room what themes have been in their Huddle's down below us here for located as you know on the press box on the west side of varsity stadium wend is picked up in velocity somewhat they haven't seen anybody leaving the podcast believe me the second half should be one of the greatest so many of the experts have always thought and have said so this year that it was anticlimactic the Grey Cup final but certainly not this year and now if he's got his eyes off those drum majorettes and on that allowed' fan here's Jack close to bring it to play by a play at the third quarter of today's Grey Cup game between the Edmonton Eskimos and the Montreal Alouettes from varsity Stadium in Toronto Jack thank you very much uncle Dave well I just like to add my where to phrase this marching band of the Montreal Alouettes and a drum majorette something coming down this break up final ever since 1941 and believe me this is the C the most as they have Chad say as far as halftime entertainment is concerned that's a real organization that marching band well of the mantra Alouettes will kick-off to the Edmonton Eskimos as kruger western miles are the deep man and big ray Poole will do the bunting for the Montreal team and the score is 18 to 14 in favor of the Montreal Alouettes now we've had a switch here and there's something that was forgotten we haven't got a football so I think one of those things is necessary to get this ball game underway they deep n Lippman burger and wet or the while the emigrants Kamala's grateful how placing the ball on the Montreal Alouettes $45 a four point spread as being one of the second and crucial half this is a great ballgame here man we've had a lot of excitement and full still fixing that ball getting ready to go to 45 in this ball Erica gon take it my lip man on his own five lines up behind this blocking is on the fan 15 to 25 of the five five and his bunt down at about the 28 yard high five it's there and Tom Moore number 77 so it's first and ten for the Edmonton Eskimos on their own 28 yard line 4-point difference here time in is called have a look at that Montreal defense they're going into a five-man line five three and berry over the ball for the escamoles audience quarterback and the handoff was given to Nanak warm up sacks to his right and he carried for about five yards before you stopped by Johnny play chair number 81 that'll be second down later and Juan Sheridan number 64 also in on the tackle it again applies gonna be second down in five yards to go for the Eskimos on their own 30 buzzer on 34 like when here's the flying wing to the left it's baloney on the keeper play now stays in there there's the throw down the ladders video fed by his all and he's on the 42 yard line 47 yard line manaman a Texas an army farm he took off on here go ahead you go intercepts the pass that's the second interception of the day hugo jack is a great pass interceptor for the Alouettes he nabbed six during the big four season and I believe one in the playoffs would that be a total of eight for him this season of 1954 and they got one at a very slight spot in this ballgame and again Montreal ball on the episode Eskimos 47 yard line running it now before the Eskimos hey got it on defense and here's the pitch shot there's a bubble of a Lannister covered by a yes my bottom il-allah wet that's Webster for the ball and he's running to touch fire lovely girl let me know the traffic jam in that Montreal backfield but Webster recovered you see left half I made about five yards on the play so I'll be second down and five the ball is on the Evans an Eskimos 39 yard line and Tony called the defense for the festival to ID man here and the swing there's the pitch attitude [Music] by Johnny bride and Jennifer a fool and his eskimo ball Jim station brought right down with a faculty please there is Jim mother artist off-screen and its first and fan for the Edmonton Eskimos on their own 38 yard line so it's the first and ten for the epic and escamoles against the Montreal Alouettes Alouettes going into a five-man line five three three by four now this which four six nine five and Bologna picks the handoff and it's given to rolling to listen rather again left and Abney above with it brought down by a judge McNichol crashing and and there's a loss on the play so the early portion of this third quarter as much similarity between the two teams they both had traffic jams in the backfield and they're both had pass interception so it is second down and five yards to go for on their own motion vector number 78 finally brought the tas run him down and Bruce holder kind of people that tackle what's both the first down for the Edmonton Eskimos it'll be third down and about two yards to go the ball is on the Eskimos 47 now Eagle cheese is going into the ballgame pick him up in your screen there you can see that he is limping with a bad ankle and coach Frank Garvey is setting in his kicking squad in other words Keys will snap the ball back to Fulani on a third down with two to go safety man will be Julie and Joey pal pal focus to you Julie on the far side Julie number 93 Bologna will kick from his own 232 and snap and the kick he put the court and a 30 by lily plenty of flames off a real ballgame for the Edmonton Eskimos in this one the score is 82 14 in favor of montreal montreal emphasized on their own 32 yard line but first and ten Montreal for point spread 18 to 14 and a thriller here and varsity stadium the final football game of the year in Canada so the Alouettes break the huddle and here's the right half and there's a big job to hunt the girl lines up behind his back and get some great blocking by fall and he picked up five he comes in he's up for dad he's on the 40 by ray Wellesley runs around the touch about the 41 feed here that 10 yard marker ball is picked in from the sidelines folder getting some real fine blocking in there for hunting earth so it is the gain of HIV and the head off mr. Webster who try Center and it carries for at least one yard where he stopped by belt breaks number 42 but a pile up along the line Mike King number 82 and Montreal needed only a 1 yard for first down they picked up one and want to go whether saw its first of Sam call the Alouettes on their own 44 M and then shipped into a seven-man line and they're missing Eagle keys there was the center line backer and up with injuries there's that profiles on the line and it says a slave incomplete does antenna for a fall I couldn't quite see it because pulled back towards me and it's incomplete knockdown by Tully so he had him covered gonna be second down and Chanti second of ten for the Montreal Alouettes their own 44 yard line at Sully calling the defense for Edmonton they go into the six-man line 63 they're the two men spread to the left for a a very edgy very hostile hurry and he's brought down by placed on who's got a piece of him and then he was spared from that left and uh whether all left ankle and is the loss of five yards on the place will be third down and 50 to go and coach P head Walker said that his kicking squad dropping back in safety for the Eskimos as Kruger and Davey West and takes ball they will kick father's on 25 there's a Snapple damos blog Farid he put his foot to it Mandrake almost got through to us and here is well staking it on his own 20 on the 25 he's hit on the 25 in carries to about the 28 race of see a sunflower number 51 doubled our farm well brought him down what's first in town for the Eskimos on their own 28:18 of 14 as the score in favor of the Montreal Alouettes over the Edmonton Eskimos playing in the third quarter of the Grey Cup final here at varsity stadium that's Tom Hugo dawn the defense for Montreal you go into the six-man line six three Bologna at quarterback and the reverse is given to the fan who's playing might happen place of Jackie Parker and he goes for three yards before he stopped by Miller Jim Miller 72 so it will be second down and seven a golf ball is now on the M&S the most 31 yard line four-point difference here between these two great ball runs can't recall a Grey Cup final when we've had so many spectacular touchdowns like when he is flanking out to the right of the fine wing that's living that's left half blown Ian quarterback the handoff astronomic wants angles when he finds a boy goes up to the 43 yard line before six holders break them down as a man hurt it's McNichol I believe it was taken up on that last play I'm a 63 there on your screen for the Montreal Alouettes as Jim statement white tiger and again it's McNichol to assert and the score is 18 to 14 in favor of the Alouettes over the Edmonton Eskimos they'll be first and ten for the Eskimos on their own 42 yard line after an ani qarn night off of left tackle ekam McNichols ooh silence great ballplayer Oh month y'all shift into a five-man line five for defense here almost that umbrellas pass defense tigress to the left as Nick 20 and here's the handoff to your five big booger carries that up for a first down goes for 13 yards sugar playing in that right hand slot in place of Rowley miles I was Bruce Boulder number 65 who made the tackle so Frank ivy has gambled in this third quarter was the two rookie bags in Lippman and Kruger the only veteran then is the full bag Johnny farm like what he is flanking there to the right and the handoff is given through auntie Fong and he carries the five guys up to the Montreal 50-yard line he stopped by Johnny blasier number 81 also in four pieces of tackle is 63 Jim statement who station
