hi there friends josie here live at 50 and beyond thanks for joining me here in my channel where you will find mostly affordable practical and easy diys today i have a compilation video for you all and they are all wooden organizers that i have done over the years so sit back and relax and enjoy this collection so for the first diy i'll be showing you how to make this beautiful deco organizer it's a decoration as well as an organizer in one i'll be using this box that i really like this is like a cube box that they sell at dollar tree and this pool that i got at amazon i'll be linking in the description box below the link to the product and i'm going to be using also e6000 because this one i don't want to use the screw that it came with because the box itself is thin and that's why i use e6000 it is durable so just let it dry overnight and i'm just making sure here eyeballing it to make sure that it's at the center and then i press it just so it will dry probably a couple of hours to overnight and i'm i have another set here and i'm still figuring out at this point here whether i will be using the inner part and the show the heart there as a design but then i decided to use the bigger part and not the drawer part so this is the drawer part so it's up to you if you want to choose the drawer part or the inner part but i've decided to use the identical size to be my top part and then i'm just going to be using my hot glue but feel free to use wood glue or even e6000 but for demonstration purposes i'm just using hot glue here and then just pressing the inner part of the box on the top to make sure that it sits well and flush and then what i'm gonna do next is i will be painting this box and this is by apple barrel and it's called lime aid and i really love this color a lot so after drying this i applied a couple of coats of paints by the way and drying in between coats and i didn't paint the inner part only the border at the top i wanted to make sure that i keep the inner part clean because i really like the way the natural wood tone is appearing there so i just put some washi for the washi lover that was going to be receiving this gift inside the drawer or you can put anything there maybe those mini nail polishes or lip glosses and whatnot so on the top i'm just putting some silk flowers and voila you can actually make this gif all year round springtime teachers appreciation gifts or mother's day gifts and this is a dick organizer so i've been starting to use that term here in my channel since i started it actually fall of last year but i'm kind of reviving it again this year now the top is very functional it's not only decorative so if you're tired of using it to display flowers you can use it to put in or organize your pencils and pens and i will be showing you how much pen it can really contain or hold look at this a lot of my pencils there and also i can show you the bottom part is still a compartment where you can put anything that can fit inside so i love giving practical gifts and this is one of them that i really know that the person who will receive it will cherish so here it is with some pencil pens as well and here it is with the flowers on top displayed next to my planners for the next diy this is gonna be another iteration of using that cube box and i'm creating a sort of an apothecary purely just using dollar tree materials and i'll be using a total of nine boxes on this project they come in three styles one with the flower cut out one with the butterfly cutout and the other one with a hard cut out so right now i'm just lining up the ones with the butterfly cutouts if you do not like to see the cutouts at the front just reverse the box or the drawer part of this box and then you will have a solid front and actually that's my preference but again if you do not like the solid front feel free to use the cutout design part then i'm just going to be stacking them up together and hot gluing them you can do this also but if you prefer for more durability or stronger hold use wood glue or even super glue or even e6000 but for the purposes of just showing it to you or demonstration purposes i'm using hot glue so i've decided to do three on each layer so i have a total of nine and here's what i'm gonna be using it for actually for my tea bags so if you are using the cut out front just use the tea bags with labels and then you can see exactly what you have inside this is perfect for organizing tea bags as you can see here i am just putting different flavors of tea bags and the cutouts will be perfect because i can see what flavors of tea bags are contained in each box or drawer now you can also fit anything here like i'm showing you here i have these brads or my drawer pulls as an example and also you can use this to organize some of your crafting items anything small you can have needles or beads or buttons or even spool of threads and even some office supplies so like i said i'm using this and demonstrating how you can use this to organize your tea bags so now if you want to use the solid as the front you have to cover the cutouts and the easier way to do that is just by covering with cello or acetate kind of packaging material i'm using this as an example not content okay the cover itself or the packaging material so that it is still clear and you can see so if for example you still want to use the cutout in the front you can still see what's inside but i just want to reverse this again my favorite is having the solid portion on the front but if i put something small like beads or buttons they may fall through those holes so i would like to cover the holes with this acetate packaging so this is basically free if you buy things with packaging like this one you don't have to buy an extra material just to cover or to block that portion there you can use even a piece of cardboard or any paper just to cover that if you are going to use the reverse part or the solid part but again if you're using the cutout the front i suggest using something clear so you can see the contents as well as i'm demonstrating it here and then i'm just going to connect this using either an adhesive tape or a dab of glue [Music] so here i'm showing you that i even have this jingle bells just for my crafting and decorations so again the possibilities are endless anything that can fit inside now i have this drawer pull that i have shown you on the first project and this one is perfect actually to create an apothecary but since i want to show how you can make a drawer pool using also a dollar tree material i will not be using this drawer pool on this project here i'll use it again later on on the third project where i created another apothecary that looks really high-end so for this one i'll be using the stumbling blocks or the tower games that they sell at dollar tree and what i like about this one is not only because i'm just using purely dollar tree and it's more affordable or economical to do so but i also like the feel and the look of wood it's a wood on wood project so i'm thinking either i put it out like this which will allow more room for my thumb or my fingers so just to demonstrate to you when i put or connect the narrower part and you can see there's plenty of space there for bigger thumb people [Music] so again i suggest here instead of using hot glue might as well use wood glue or super glue because sometimes hot glue doesn't stick well especially in places where there's humidity or high humidity so just my advice for you so as you can see here it's really sticking out it's easy to also pull out the drawer now i'll show you also that you can use the wider part and that's what you will stick on and then you'll have the narrower part that is sticking out so i'm just going to be gluing it like this and then that will be my drawer pull so for this project i opted not for the one that has a longer pull but i opted for the one that looks a little flatter [Music] because another purpose that i was thinking of for that one is that i can easily label it attach a label this way and it's still easy to pull out with my fingers and yeah so again it's going to be a matter of preference for you i'm just showing you two positions here and just choose whatever is going to work out for you so i went ahead and removed those two pulls and then i've decided to just use this one here this style now with the wider front i can use label stickers or printouts or even handwrite my labels [Music] [Music] i'm using this caribbean acrylic paint and using my paintbrush i'm just painting each cube now you can paint it any color you like i'm actually using the paint that i have on my stash and i purchased my acrylic paint at walmart because it's cheaper than the dollar tree dollar tree sells them for like a dollar each of course a different brand a dollar tree brand but the walmart one is by apple barrel and they cost only between 38 to i think 50 or 60 cents each so you're gonna save a lot if you purchase the ones from walmart but again if you want it to be pure dollar tree you can just buy your paint at dollar tree if you do not have anything laying around already in your stash now since i'm a crafter i do have a lot of paint now i decided to just leave the inner part bare and just with its natural color and i also have here the lime aid green color because i just want to give it a little bit of a kind of dual tone or color block style so what i'm gonna do is with the other drawers i'm gonna paint them with that color so what i'm gonna do three at the bottom and three at the top will have the color blue or the caribbean blue color and then this limeade color will be the ones that i will use for the center row or the middle row as a crafter i love to play up colors or use colors especially in my craft room and these are the colors that i gravitate towards to if you have been following me here in my channel you will see that a lot of my projects or the things i use are in this color scheme i really love how this project turned out i'm actually done and i'm loving it and this is again something that i'm using right now actually as i'm recording or voicing over here on this video again for this collection i'm still using it for these tea bags actually some of the drawers i've used for my washes so i only kept three flavors on the top and then the other drawers i use them for other things as well [Music] so for the next diy i'm going to be creating another apothecary i really love using the boxes from dollar tree because i can make something this beautiful and i'll be using this iron label drawer pull that i got at amazon it comes in a pack of 20 pieces for 9.99 you will also need wood glue for this project in the interest of time i used my hot glue gun and glue sticks i suggest using wood glue or e6000 for a stronger hold now i'm just lining up two boxes together making sure that there's no overhang making sure that they line up i'm going to be applying the glue thinly as you can see here almost flat i'm trying to make sure that there's no thick application of my hot glue because when it dries up i do not want to create gaps in between the two boxes because if it dries up thick then that would more than likely create some gaps so i'm trying to make sure that i flatten this as much as possible so i try to adjust as fast as i could before the hot glue dries up because it dries really fast and like i said i make sure that they are flat and connected well i am just going to repeat the same steps up to the fourth pair connecting them one on top of the other with the same method like you see here thin and flat application of glue no big blobs that will create gaps whenever i connect them and then lining them up like so then adjusting and then straightening it and then pushing it to make sure it's aligned and then press it some more and here they are so next what i'm gonna do is connect the four boxes together and then i am going to be connecting the second pair on top of it making sure that i line up the boxes so that they look even and then i am just going to connect them all that way so on top of this two pairs i'm going to put the third pair and then on top of that will be the fourth pair and then make sure that there's not any gap on the sides and voila and then i'm reversing each of the drawer so that the solid will be the front part like so now i'm going to be connecting or attaching all of the drawer pools i'm using my e6000 and if you notice i have a fine tip applicator here it's easier that way super glue would work as well because especially the ones with the smaller tip it would work well like this e6000 that i have i'm eyeballing the location you know the center part of the front of each drawer press your fingers on top of each pole so that they connect well and then dry them overnight now instead of using wood stain i'm going to be using my acrylic paint in nutmeg brown and i'm going to be diluting it in water i do not have the exact measurement to be honest this is something that you probably would want to adjust yourself depending on how dark you want the stain is but the first time that i did it it was so thin because i was using half a cup of water and then just putting my nutmeg brown acrylic paint and just adjusting it as i go so look at this this is very pale the first time i tried it i was trying to experiment what kind of stain look that i would like so i think i used too much water here so i have decided to reduce my water to a fourth of a cup instead of half a cup and then added more acrylic paint so around a fourth of water four cup of water plus maybe 20 to 25 drops of acrylic paint and then making sure when i was applying i didn't go too wet on it i was making sure that i dry the brush a little bit and then i applied three coats of paint all over this apothecary or wooden cube chest and even the interior of the boxes i painted them as well for the rough edges i use my nail filer but you can also use fine grit sandpaper they also sell them at dollar tree and then i just remove the dust and then i continue on with my painting and on this apothecary i painted thinly the inner part as well so unlike the previous projects the first two projects i didn't paint the inner part this one i'm really also painting the inner part so that i can have a more cohesive [Music] look [Music] [Music] do so even the inner part of the drawer so not just the inner part of the box but also the inner part of the drawer so after painting everything and allowing it to dry i am done and here it is i love it see that even the interior is painted so that it will look even more high-end if the interior is also finished and i love it and i can put my tea bags here or you can put spices as well the dry spices i have shown on the other video how you can cover those holes that were originally at the front so that you can camouflage them i really love how this one turned out it really looks so high-end whether finished or unfinished and here's another way to use this cube boxes this time i'm just going to be using the outer part not the drawer part i'm using this as an organizer for my wooden cutlery sets or my utensils so wooden spoons forks and knives and i am just going to be hot gluing them together like so and again i suggest using wood glue or e6000 and then after i glue them i'm just gonna paint them and this is the craftsman acrylic paint i got this at michaels again i have a lot of paint and this is a light blue or a baby blue or powder blue color and all i need is just to paint the outer parts again it's up to you if you want to paint the inner part but this one is the shortcut version i'm not giving this as a gift i'm just keeping this for our own use and i'm just painting the outer part like i said and maybe even the top edges of those three compartments [Music] [Music] after drying i am going to be using this poster stickers that i got at dollar tree to spell out the word eat so e a t for eat um just adhering each letter on the front of the box [Music] now i'm just putting my wooden newton seals just sorting them out with each kind in each box so the forks the spoons and the knives and i love that these are disposables and recyclables still and they're biodegradable if you throw them in the landfill it will not last forever unlike plastics now anyway i'm gonna be using the nautical ropes from dollar tree i'm just cutting small strips so that i can put them in a horseshoe style on each end and then those will be my handle so if i need to kind of move this thing around i can have the carrier handles as well so it's best to use either a large dab of hot glue or e6000 again for a stronger hold and the project is done how it's set up i have propped it up for spring with my bunny ceramics there and also my bunny plate and a bunch of silk flowers from dollar tree okay for my next diy i will no longer be using the cube boxes from dollar tree this time i'm gonna be using the wooden plaques or frames that they sell at dollar tree to create a display case so check the description box for details on the materials here i'll be using this two wooden plaque from dollar tree so first i'm preparing each one so the first one on the left i've already prepared by removing those triangle corners there that hold them together and it's so easy you can just pry them off from the frame of course it's going to disconnect the corners but after you remove the triangles then you can also reconnect the corners using hot glue or wood glue or e6000 so preferably please use hot glue i have here my gorilla wood glue as well as my hot glue to ensure that i can connect it faster i use hot glue for these corners and later on for the most part of this project i'll be using my wood glue by gorilla so i am just going to be putting all again the links to all these products in case you are interested with the wood glue that they sell at amazon i have the description box that has all the links anyway i am just going to be using a flat instrument to kind of scrape off the excess glue so you can use a knife or any applicator there so voila i removed already the corner because i would need the space to create my trays because this is going to be a reversible project to create the two tiers i'll be using this wooden rulers from dollar tree i'm just peeling off those sticky part with the measurement and leaving just the wood part i'm using my gorilla wood glue to connect each corner and then on the right side of the wood glue i'm putting a dab of hot glue and the reason for it is though that it can hold the pieces together quickly with the hot glue and then the wood glue will then be able to give it a more strong hold or a stronger bond so i am just going to be using them and kind of using two rulers kind of perpendicular to each other to create a corner to hold these two pieces of wood black together now you can also use the painter sticks that they sell at home improvement centers i think they're like 98 cents for 10 pieces and they are the same length although the rulers i find them wider [Music] and at least they are also even on each end unlike the steerers they have a end that has a curvature on the top anyway i'm just gonna do and repeat the same things on each corner so i'm doing the bottom part first [Music] and then making sure that they're connected and as you can see i'm also applying my wood glue to where if the two rulers will connect and then i am just going to be putting or attaching the other plaque to the top part so that will be my top tier or my second tier so i'm just gonna be wiggling this a little bit before it dries up again i need a little bit of adjustment here making sure that they are in the proper place before i dry them up overnight as you can see i have to remove the top part again and then apply hot glue so that it will at least hold it there temporarily and then the stronger hold wood glue will keep it in place so here it is after drying overnight so this is a reversible display stand where i can use both levels so now i'm gonna go ahead and paint it before painting i'm going ahead with putting dabs of glue or my hot glue inside the hole of the rulers you know there are holes there so aside from wood putty you can also use clay or you can also use silicone coke and they sell those as well at dollar tree so here i'm just using my chalk paint no need to really sand the surface of those areas that you are going to be painting but it's up to you if you want to do that but since i want to make it a little rustic or a little distressed so i didn't want to make it a little more smoother than it is and then i just apply a couple of coats of paint and then i will dry in between each coat now i'm gonna be attaching my popsicle or craft sticks these are the jumbo crab sticks from walmart they also sell this ones at dollar tree and i'm gonna be linking it in the description box below because sometimes walmart sells out of this jumbo sticks i think dollar tree started selling them but i haven't seen them at my stores so i just marked the lines to cut it to size to trim it to size that will fit inside the frames and this is just kind of like guesstimating it or eyeballing things and i just trim everything so first the first stick i just used as my template and then each one i cut them to the same size and then applied hot glue to adhere each one to the frame and voila i'm not going to be painting this anymore i kind of like the natural finish or look of the jumbo sticks and it is more farmhouse in style in my opinion so i've done the same thing with the other frame now i kind of want to add a little bit more of the stress look so i'm adding this nutmeg brown paint using my sponge applicator in order to give it a distressed look or finish a little bit more rustic or even weathered look so i also followed up with a dry brush technique in order to kind of spread out the paint and it's up to you if you don't want to do that finish i kind of like it looking rustic like i said or weathered and here it is the final outcome i really love this a lot especially this underside where i'm showing the kind of shiplap appearance of those sticks but you can also invert it and use the smoother the painted side looks great too but again my favorite is the other one with the sticks so here i'll be staging it or decorating it with some of the items that i have done in the past my other projects and these are all made from dollar tree items and now it is decorative it is also functional so for example if you want to place this on top of your bathroom vanity you can use it to hold your face towels as well as your bath salts or your soaps as well as lotions and everything that you may need for your bathroom vanity and maybe even hold some books at the bottom so maybe keep the heavier items at the bottom and at the top the lighter ones so again like i said here in my channel i prefer to use or do things that are practical so if you can use this as a home decor slash organizer that will be great so this next diy looks like a side table to be honest i mean i'm so proud of making this about i think a year ago already and this we're made out of this wood plaque or particle board frames that they sell at dollar tree and these are larger than the ones that i use on the previous clip this one measures 8 inches by 10 inches so it's an 8 by 10 frame no extra tools required again i'm going to be using hot glue or e6000 and even gorilla wood glue so i think what i'm going to do here is i'm just going to use a combination of e6000 this time plus my hot glue so here i'm just going to be placing one of them at the bottom with the design facing up and then i'm going to be connecting two other frames or plaques and then i'm just going to line them up so to the side of one of the frames that i'm going to be putting at the bottom i'm applying hot glue and then i am just going to connect the lower portion with the size aligning to it in a perpendicular way so i'm just pressing to ensure that they stick together like so and i'm gonna do it also on the opposite side so here's how it turned out so that's my base and again it's still a little wobbly because i'm still going to be adding some more glue so i already applied my e6000 and then applying more hot glue to ensure that this table or side table or display case would be tough to hold things so in order for me to put the top portion i'm applying my hot glue now on the sides also the shorter sides and then i'm just going to be placing it like so this is almost like a two-person job somebody needs to be holding it but since i'm all by myself doing a lot of my projects so that i can show you also that it's doable if you are by yourself use the hot glue in order for it to dry fast and then apply your e6000 along with it so that it will be a much stronger hold now as you can see it's still a little wobbly but later on you will see that this will be more straight and stable so i keep applying my hot glue again to ensure that it is all connected well and all the crevices that i can see in all the seams or spaces so that this will be a much stronger hold and then there on the top or the side of one of the frames i'm already applying more hot glue and i am going to be placing another plaque there so i'm applying my glue liberally and then to the bottom of that frame i didn't show any more off camera i applied e6000 so that it can cure overnight and it'll be a much stronger hold and then i'm repeating the same thing on the other side or the opposite side and then on the top i am going to be applying again on the side so i put it sideways so you can see because my angle wasn't really showing the top so i just flip it on its side so that you can see that i'm placing the top of my side table by adding my plaque there on the top kind of aligned with the one that i put at the center or the second tier again adding more hot glue now this is going to be a lot of application of glue it's going to be a little dirty because this is the only way that i can show you that you can actually build something using just glue without using carpenter nails but if you want to use carpenter nails by all means do so that's actually the tougher way to do it but for us crafters most of us do not use those power tools or even a hammer and a nail so next the hollow part here i was thinking actually that i am going to be using that like a hidden compartment so that i can make it as an organizer but i decided not to so that i can make it stronger so i lay it again on its side and then i am connecting more frames so i'm applying my hot glue to the edges of the one that i have stuck earlier and then as you could see on the right side i already placed one and then this one i'm placing it also on the left so actually in this in this kind of angle you can actually use it as a horizontal side or a horizontal load table but i really want it to be vertical see what i'm trying to do here i'm making it more stable by doubling up the frames on the side so that those hollow parts that you will see on the left and the right side will be covered or doubled up making it a stronger system or furniture so i'm kind of building furniture here with just my glue and there's frames that i just want to show you i challenged myself that i can actually build the furniture if i want to now i'm doing it again here as you can see there's a lot of marks of glue there at the bottom because i was doing a trial and error before i decided that okay this is the look that i want so again applying a generous amount of hot glue to the perimeter or the edges of that frame and then i am just going to be connecting the other one and on the other one i actually have e6000 applied so that it will dry up stronger and then here i applied there on that side some hot glue and then that's where i'm going to be connecting quickly my other frame like so so you gotta be really quick because sometimes they don't really line up and sometimes that glue dries up really quickly so if you're not quick enough then it will dry up on you then you have to repeat the process and here it is i've already constructed my side table now i would have opted also to double up those shelves but then i needed the space or the headroom so i think i'm okay with this here again i am going to be applying two to three coats of my chalk paint same chalk paint that i used on the previous project that i painted also and the good thing about chalk paint you really don't need to be perfect at painting it and you know that's also the beauty of farmhouse style you don't have to be perfect as you can see there's still some kind of seams or crevices or kind of where you could see the connections between the frames are still showing but i do plan to apply caulk later on as i progress with my painting and hindsight i should have done it before i applied my first coat of paint but excuse my lack of good judgment there in my excitement to see this in its complete state or final stages i just decided to paint without adding my caulking but this is sort of a lesson learned and hopefully you learn it from my mistakes that put the call king first before you paint so i'm gonna put the caulking later on and i'll show it to you as well so as i mentioned earlier i'm going to be kind of doing the caulking after i applied my paint so i did the first coat of paint and here i'm using the all-purpose coat that i purchased at a home improvement store so you can buy this anywhere they sell home improvement items so like lowe's or home depot or even ace hardware and it's actually cheaper if you purchase them at those places but dollar tree sells them as well at their hardware section for a dollar this one i think we only purchased this for like 78 cents from lowe's so i just want to show you without seams showing it's much better and then applying two more coats of paint that's the finished project i really love how it turned out so at the bottom you can use kind of like this locker bin that i got at dollar tree and then there is also kind of similar style and i like it because it has this muted kind of sea foam green color i purchased this one at target dollar spot aka target bullseye playground years ago so i'm kind of trying to put something there that would look like or act like a drawer system and it will be also as a storage system so on top i even put an alarm clock a diy vase you know that the buffalo check base with lavender silk flowers and then there's that dollar tree candle holder and led candle that i diy previously and at the middle portion or middle shelf i stacked up those three boxes from dollar tree they look like small suitcases i purchased them about a year and a half to two years ago and i like the fact that this is expandable you can just keep adding across or adding up so whether you want it to expand vertically or horizontally that one too that basket is from target dollar spot i purchased that for five dollars so it can corral or hold other things as well now this can act like a low side table this measures 20 inches tall and 14 inches wide and eight inches deep so it can hold quite a bit again like i said earlier anything heavier put them at the bottom but look i purchased this lamp at the target bullseye playground also a couple of years ago i think and it really stands on top of it and no issues so i picture this in a dorm room or a tiny house and look the middle shelf i placed all my travelers notebooks and at the bottom bin i use it to store my travelers notebook inserts you know the spares the ones that i can still use for future writing yeah i really love this a lot i mean i'm so happy on how it turned out maybe a little tedious process but it was so satisfying in the end for the next diy i'll be using yet another wood particle board material from dollar tree and these are the fall signs and they also come during the holiday season you know the christmas signs and i love this a lot in this project i'm using five pieces of this wooden signs any style because what i'm doing here is i'm also gonna paint this i'm showing you here i have e6000 and fix all to connect all of them and then i am going to be combining with hot glue so that they will dry fast because those fix all and e6000 you need overnight to dry but for instant gratification use hot glue to combine so to hang this on the wall i am going to take advantage of the hello part of this sign so you can hang this without additional hardware at the back because it's already hollow and i'm going to use two nails you can use hooks also but i'm going to be using this carpenter nails and then just hang them on the wall using the hollow part the bottom again i am just going to be leveling it at the very end so using my hot glue i will be applying hot glue here this area that will be enough to cover the width of the support those two supports that i'm using and then using e6000 i am going to be combining them and each time i'm using my thumb to press so that the glue will stick better to check that the bottom one is leveled i just want to make sure that it can sit on top of a flat surface like my work table here and that's when i know that it is leveled but you can use a leveler as well they do sell them at dollar tree too by the way so what i'm gonna do here is then hot glue again the one on the very top making sure that for you who are going to do this you are going to combine with an e6000 because i don't want to be blamed if it falls off for me because i don't live in a hot humid area for the most part my hot glue is fine but i would suggest please use commercial grade glue and then again i am just going to line up the edges to the very end or top part of this two signs here and then i'm just pressing with my fingers like so and then for the middle shelf i'm just gonna eyeball it also at the right height and then i'm just applying the glue and then connecting that last piece then using my thumbs or fingers i'm just going to make sure that i press so that the glue would adhere better and then i will let this dry for a few hours before you apply your paint but here i'm just gonna try it out and it looks great you can probably lean it up against the wall like i'm testing here and it should work as well but i will be hanging it up high next i'm going to be painting this and i'm using this lagoona collar it's like teal blue and this is an acrylic paint by apple barrel they sell this at walmart i think this is like 47 cents a bottle so i'm just using an artist paintbrush i love this color a lot and this one would be perfect for my craft room because as you can see even that organizer there is almost the same color and if you have been following me here my channel you probably already know that i gravitate towards this color so just paint it a couple of coats of paint i think is just fine so what i've done here is i painted with one coat and then let it dry for a couple hours and then applied my second coat of paint and here it is after i painted a couple of coats of paint i made sure to paint the areas that can be seen even the bottom part i didn't paint the inner part of the shelf because i'm going to be putting items there they will not be seen anyway so here are the two nails just to carpenter nails and i just hammered them on the wall i made sure that they are of the distance where i could place this so i'm just gonna be sitting this there on top of each nail on each side and voila it's hanging now without me adding a hanging hardware and here's where i'm gonna be placing my paint bottles again since i am reorganizing or redecorating this craft room i want to put them all there on the wall that i can see them and here it is i really love how it turned out for the next diy i'll be using them again the signs that i just used previously to create this caddy for my k-cups and tea bags and hot cocoa drinks using six wooden signs i'm gonna be connecting three together twice so three and three because this is gonna be two levels and this is going to be a caddy i'm going to be using a combination of hot glue with either e6000 or fix all as well and i'm just going to be lining them up together i'm using this fix all you can buy this at dollar tree at the hardware section make sure that you have proper air ventilation because this one really is odoroose and you may get dc if you are sensitive so i just want to make sure i give you some caution there so after i apply a generous amount of fixol i'm also putting some generous amount of hot glue to reinforce my connections and then i'm pressing again with my fingers and then using some clips binder clips to adhere them better so i'm just going to be doing the same thing on the side here and i'm just gonna do this in fast motion and then leave us with some music while i do the other set as well after i let them dry overnight this is how they turned out and i have a three compartment shelf so this is gonna be two tier and i'm gonna be using like i said earlier as my support this two paddle board shaped cutting boards or the plastic cutting boards that they sell at dollar tree so i'm going to be putting them on each side here combination again using fix all i am going to be applying to the side and then i'm going to be applying also my hot glue so i place the paddle board cutting board on top of my work space so that i can see the bottom lining up to my wooden signs or my shelf and i'm just making sure that i line them up properly and the bottom edge of the cutting board aligns to the bottom of my shell so i'm pressing again with my fingers making sure that it is secure and at this point because of the hot glue that dries fast it's going to be a little hard to move at this point already so that's why i made sure that it already lined up next i am going to be assessing or eyeballing where i'm going to be placing the top tier so that i have enough clearance also not just at the bottom tier but also where i'm gonna be putting my handle so i just wanna make sure i have enough clearance on both tiers or both trays so here i'm just repeating the steps i've done on the other one combining applying my fix all as well as my hot glue then pressing with my fingers to make sure that the tray adheres to the plastic cutting board and then while it's in this position i am applying the fix-all as well as my hot glue on both of the shelves or trays and then i'm going to be placing on top the plastic cutting board and making sure that that board lines up to the board on the opposite side using my fingers again to press to make sure that the glue adheres and then i'm just trying to see if it's leveled and then i'm drying it overnight on its side not standing up like this then after overnight of drying i am going to be painting it and i have this rust-oleum chalk paint in linen i got this at amazon and i am going to be linking it in the description box below in case you're interested i love this color a lot and it matches the color of the cutting board although i'm going to be applying some of it to the cutting board just to make it a little bit more even so i am just going to be applying a couple of coats of paint onto this wooden signs or my tray slash shelves [Music] and here it is after i applied a couple of coats of paint and i'll probably do a little bit of touch-up later if i see that there are some areas but i think it looks okay already as is then i'm gonna be putting in my handle i used the rolling pin that i got at dollar tree i gotta use what i have but you can also use the handle of the toilet plunger that they sell at dollar tree as a matter of fact i've used that already on some of my projects as well but since this rolling pin is a little shorter than the width of my caddy i have improvised it by adding on each side some cardboard cutouts so that's something that i cut out from a shipping box the one that's thick don't use thin cardboard or else it won't hold it so this time i'm going to be using my e6000 and then i'm applying my e6000 on each side of my rolling pin my extended and improvised rolling pin that is and then i'm also going to be applying hot glue for faster bonding but the more stable bond will be provided by the e6000 so that's why you have to combine the e6000 with the hot glue so that it dries fast with the hot glue and then binds better with the e6000 so put as much glue or be generous with your glue if you are going to do this because again this is going to be the handle and it will carry the weight not only of the caddy but the contents in it another option would be to use a sort of a screw that can fit through and it'll be more durable than using glue but epoxy should be durable as well it's kind of like liquid nails and here you can see me also trying to reinforce more through the hole where the perimeter or the ends are and yeah that should be covering it well and here also on the opposite side here i am doing this to the edges and not on the one that doesn't connect to anything so it's the connection that i am reinforcing then i am pressing both ends together with my fingers and then i am drying this again overnight i am going to be painting my handle and to give a little bit of contrast i am going to be using this waverly paint or chalk paint it is the elephant color originally i was going to leave it unfinished because i like the natural look of the rolling pin but i decided to paint it in gray or this elephant finish so that i can use this as a contrast and since i'm going to be putting the buffalo checks it will blend better and here it is after a coat of paint and i'm just going to show you again that's the elephant gray by waverly here i am just going to be tracing with my fingers where i'm going to be placing this wrapping paper and i am just going to be kind of pressing it more like a crude method that i have used so that i can just trace the indentation there the border from the cutting board and then just using my nails to mark you can use any sharp object but i feel that the fingers would be better so that you can really feel where it is and then i'm just going to use a pair of scissors to cut [Music] and i'm going to be using my paint brush and i will be applying this mod podge and that's how i'm going to be attaching this paper onto my cutting board i'm just applying a generous amount here of mod podge then just making sure that when i attach my paper there's not a lot of air bubbles and then i am applying mod podge again on top of it to camouflage the ends of my handle i am applying this nautical rope to finish it off that'll cover any imperfection on those edges and to cover the holes i'm also winding the piece of this nautical rope and then just to cover it up kind of like creating a button to cover it kind of like the other one that i did three years ago that's how i finished it off so i'm attaching it and repeating the same style or steps on the opposite side and here it is i love how this one turned out and it has three compartments on each level so a total of six compartments and i'm going to show you i am going to be using this to organize my k-cups so i have this decaf k-cups that i am organizing in each row it can fit up to six pieces of this k-cups and so for each tier i have 18 a total of 36 and i love this style because it goes with my style so here i'll just be lining up all of our tea bags of different flavors so it's up to you if you want to use it this way aside from k-cups so i kept the k-cups below on the bottom tier and then the tea bags on the top tier so just to show you how it is set up right now i have the crystal ginger drinks in sachets as well as some hot cocoa packets on the top and then at the bottom i have my coffee pods the next diy is another deco organizer or a decoration slash organizer in one so this is going to be two iterations i'll be using this thankful or full sign from dollar tree and this three wooden trees from target dollar spot i purchased them last year and what i'm going to be doing is i'm just going to paint the thankful sign or the design on top of this sign in white because i want to keep the buffalo check designed on the side so i'm just going to apply two coats of paint there and i'm going to do the same thing with the wooden tree now if you cannot find this wooden trees a target dollar spot because these were purchased last year you can find something similar at dollar tree those are the trees that they have the wooden cutouts not as thick but you can still make them stand by adding tumbling blocks so for this one i like i said i'll be painting them a couple of paints on the front side and then on the edges of the tree because i want to make it look like it's really snow covered and i didn't want to leave any of those gold glitters there although i didn't sand this anymore because the texture is perfect it's really made it look like it's snow now for the back side i printed this music note for silent night and that's what i'm gonna do i am going to just trace the shape and then i am going to be gluing it to the back of each tree so using my fine tip pen a pencil will do as well i just trace the shape of the tree to the back of my printed musical notes and then i'm just gonna do the cut out for each one using my artist paintbrush i am just applying mod podge to attach each of the cutouts to the back of each of the tree and then i'm going to go ahead and trim the sides or any excess paper that is peeking out so if you want you can apply more mod podge just to protect the paper and i am gonna go ahead and cover the holes i'll be using this silver berries that i got at dollar tree so i'm just gonna be choosing the same size of balls and then i'm just going to hot glue each one to cover the holes on top of each tree i went ahead and attached each tree by hot gluing the bottom part so this one is a reversible design and to make it more interesting adding more depth i'm using my pencil pen or marker to kind of trace or put lines on the sides you know where those cutouts of the trees are so i'm just putting the lines there and also at the back so both sides and here it is i love that this one is inexpensive it only cost five dollars to make i'm gonna be creating a bottom that will be a storage unit for this decorative item so to make it functional so what i've done is the block that i removed at the center which is a hanging hardware and i'm gonna put an insert here and how i removed it from the sign and i'm using one on one side and the one from underneath the other side i'm putting on this side notice how i positioned each block i have half of it inside the sign and have a bit protruding a little bit those two little blocks will act as stopper so that when i put the top part that i just created will not slide off so i'm just gonna go ahead and apply a couple of coats of paint with the same chalk rust-oleum white that i use to paint the top part and i'm painting the inner part even the blocks and even the outer part and the bottom part so you might be wondering why i had to attach the blocks first before i painted because sometimes when you use hot glue or even any kind of glue it will not adhere well when the paint is just newly applied or even if it's dry it's not really totally cure yet so in the interest of time this is how i'm doing it so here it is after applying a couple of coats of paint that is going to be my storage unit and i am going to be placing items here to show you how functional it is right now i'm utilizing this as a pencil case or storage and i'm now placing the top and it looks great so it is a camouflage storage nobody would know that there is something inside there's enough room for more here and yeah what i like about this one using those two blocks like i said earlier will prevent this from sliding off so you see that it may move maybe a tad centimeter there on the front and then the back of it and then on the side maybe a little but see it keeps it secure i'll be pushing it on the right top see there it's not moving and then also making sure that i show you also that this is reversible so you can use the musical notes as your front or the one with the balls as your front side and just lift the top up and then you can just use the items that you have stored i'm going to be showing you other items that can fit inside only have these three nail polishes for now but i'll show you that even though it is protruding from the lower tray or sign there is enough headroom from the inner part of the top portion or the cover see so you have at least a little over two inches there to play with as far as the height so i'm gonna use this to store some candies or cough drops and mint candies and then there you go i really love this because it's not only decorative it's also functional like i said it's a storage i'm just gonna be replacing the design on the top so that's the reason why i only use hot glue for most part when i am creating things because i figured especially for seasonal items i would need to store them and replace them and make them also usable any time of the year so i just remove those three trees and then what i'm going to do here is using this sandpaper i am just going to smooth out the top because there is some residue from the glue i'm also using the same sandpaper to smooth out and also give an aged or distress appearance on the edges so i'm just testing out this sign i got this at target dollar spot or target bullseye playground a few years back and it was three dollars here i'm just going to show you this wooden block you can use this as a handle if you don't want to add any decorations so that you can just lift it up easily so i'm just going to be using this damp paper towel and i'm just removing any of the dust left by sanding and using my paintbrush i am just applying a couple of coats of chalk paint and i will be linking in the description box below as well the link to the chalk paint so i have this box of essential oils that i got at amazon this is not a sponsored video by the way so i figured i am just going to be using this as a storage for my essential oils i have about 18 bottles here and this one can actually fit i think over 20 or maybe even a total of 24 as long as you have those smaller size of essential oils like what i'm showing here this essential oil bottles i think the measurement on this one is about maybe an inch and a half high and then about half an inch thick for each bottle so i could actually fit two bottles or two rows of bottles here and like i said i have a total of 18 and i could probably fit another six bottles there total of 24. then i'm just going to be hot gluing this wooden sign they also sell wooden sign at dollar tree and it may not be the same style and not pre-painted like this i'm not going to change the paint on this one i actually was thinking about painting it in black but i like the gold and it is actually distressed and it's still farmhouse so i really love this concept that i can hide things and not only because they're unsightly but because sometimes i just don't want to see clutter and i like the fact that this is a deco organizer for the following diys i'll be using this valentine's sign this is the wooden sign that they sell at dollar tree they come in different styles and colors so i will be using for the first diy six of them and originally i was actually thinking of doing a two tier and just want to let you know if you want to do two tier you only need two of these boxes to assemble this but if you want a three tier which i ended up doing you would need four of that wooden boxes and then six of the wooden valentine sign so here i'm just removing the stickers on the back of those wooden signs and then the boxes i am just going to be painting them and i have that chalk paint that i got at amazon i'll be linking down below i really love this rust-oleum chalked linen color and it really would match the white signs so i'm just gonna go ahead and paint the inner part as well as the outer part of this boxes again a total of four and i'm just going to be applying a couple of coats drying it in between coats now if you notice i'm not totally painting the inner part where those stars are or you know the openings are or the cutouts are because i am going to be using that and gluing the signs there and oftentimes when it's freshly painted it's kind of harder to glue things together so i'm just drying them and then i didn't have enough of the white sign so i took this two blue signs and then i'm painting the bottom part which didn't have the written words and then i'm also painting those two sides there anything that will show up so the written words i'm putting them underneath or it's gonna be the bottom part because it's not gonna show up anyway the way i'm gonna be arranging them so i applied a couple of coats of paint again and then let them dry so once everything dried up i'm gonna go ahead and assemble them together to create my three-tier shelf so first things first i'm going to go ahead and create the bottom part and this is going to be the foundation so i'm going to be using this gorilla glue it's a wooden glue and it's really tough it's tough as nails to be honest and i've used it in a lot of projects and i'm just going to be using an applicator here i'm just using this stick or bamboo skewer and i'm just going to be applying some glue to this portion here that i didn't totally paint remember i mentioned that earlier because once you paint something sometimes the glue doesn't adhere and that's the reason why i didn't want to paint the bottom part of my wooden signs so i'm gonna go ahead and apply more glue on the other side as well and if you notice i'm also applying some glue about uh half an inch up on the side and so that i can also adhere my two wooden signs to those areas there so i did that on both boxes and that way it'll be more secured on both hands and i left a slat or a gap in between those two wooden signs and made sure that they are flush towards the sides or the inner part of the boxes now i am applying my wooden glue again on the top of this box here and on the other box as well because i am going to be attaching the two wooden boxes one on each side so that i can raise them up so that i can put in my second tier and also my top tier so i'm just applying as generously as i can because again this is going to be load bearing so i just want to make sure it's secured so i'm just aligning the two together and then i am just going to be applying my wooden glue again where i apply glue at the bottom part the same way i'm repeating on this second tier and my apologies for the angling here because i am also the camera person as well as the person doing the diy so it's kind of a little challenging doing it by myself so here i'm also applying more glue here on the side and i am just gonna be placing one side first it's gonna be a little challenging again uh here i am doing this first before i glue it or attach it to the top of the other box i am just applying my wood glue first and then look at this i've just decided also that i can apply more glue to my wood sign and that's it i am placing that and it's out of the frame i didn't notice it that the other side is out of the frame but you will see that the other side of these two wooden signs are also connected to the box on the opposite end and you will see that i will pan it out because i noticed it yeah there you go so i'm just making sure that i have the gaps and to do that i'm making sure that those two signs again are sticking to the inner part of those two boxes so they're flush then here i'm just applying more wood glue as generously as i can don't be skimpy on this one because that's what's gonna hold these things together because those wood signs are heavy so this is where i'm gonna be putting my last two pieces of wooden signs and then that's it i'm leaving the gaps of course there's gonna be a bigger or wider gap on the top tier because there is no uh barricade or wall to eat up that kind of space like unlike those two tiers the bottom and the middle tier so to demonstrate also the height i put in this two bottles of mod podge and then of course to dry it overnight i have placed some heavy items on those portions where i connected together and here it is i'm propping it up already the next day this is the next morning and i put in some of my items my knickknacks so you can use this on top of your table or kitchen countertop on top of your desk or even on the floor if you prefer to do so this is perfect for tiny houses as well as studio apartments those small tight spaces like in the dorm you know the possibilities are endless and i will show you towards the end of this video where i'm gonna be also placing this inside a kitchen cabinet to show you how it will fit into that as an organizer so this is propped up with my knickknacks with some of my items and this is a place where you can put small books or boxes again to put your displays but i'm also going to be using this to organize my spice bottles or my dried herbs so here they are now because they are the same height and the same height of bottles and the ones at the back will be harder to identify so aside from the label on the bottle itself the front of the bottle i figured i will also put in labels on the top of the lid so for example i use this one here because it's towards the back i will identify the lid as well as the bottle sign with what i'm putting there like cardamom and since it's rarely used in our cooking it will not be at the front so the rare spices that we use we'll put at the back and at the front will be the most common ones that we use so i think i'm going to be adding labels to the top of the lids of the ones i finished and on the ones at the back i will also add labels on the front of the bottles as well as the top of the lid that'll be easier to identify them and the top tier i could have put more bottles there but i decided to prop them up again with my farmhouse style decorations and i put the home sign there i really love how this one turned out and then here i'm also using it for my potted herbs or plants you can use it for succulents love it i'll be showing you how i can use this inside the cupboard that doesn't have shelving perfectly fits and now hold some coffee mugs so the smaller coffee mugs i place at the bottom so i could fit more and i purchased them at dollar tree so i was able to fit five of them and then in the middle tier i put my bigger mugs and those are huge okay and then on the top i put in some cookies but you can put in more mugs there if you want to or cups so this became sort of my drinking station organizer and this one works a lot and let me just demonstrate to you this is a heavy mug so i purposely place the heavier mugs i think you can fit at least four or up to four at least three and those are heavy ones and this is a sturdy organizer just wanna show you here i also have space for my coffee sugar creamer and stirrers next i'll be making this beautiful plant stand slash probably a small side table and i'll be using these two wooden signs that i got at dollar tree they're eight by eight inches square and i'm also going to be using this love sign i also got a dollar tree and i love that this is solid wood unlike the other box signs that is hollow at the back and this is perfect especially if you are trying to create something that would need to probably hold some weight so first i'm just going to be removing this cardboard on the top i really left a little bit when i saw that the exact sign was already printed on the box so i think they just want to make it a little 2d so that's why they added that as a cardboard but i removed it and i also kind of wet it it it took me a little while i was scraping it with my metal ruler or if you have a metal scraper you can scrape it also with knife or any sharp object and i was just removing the goo also at dollar tree by the way they sell those goo guns so you can also use that as well but to me i'm just using plain damp paper towel or some water that i sprayed and then i just removed the glue now i am going to be assembling this using my favorite wood glue by gorilla and i'm gonna be linking it in the description box below as well this is not sponsored again i'm just sharing you the materials that i use and that i love to use and that have been tested now the thing with wood glue it doesn't dry as fast as hot glue but i would urge you not to just use hot glue in this one because this is going to be something that you may want to lift around so you would need some wood glue now i will be applying hot glue on this side here and also on this side here as well any side that will touch the side of the frame or my wooden frame like so doing that kept it intact already or the wood would hold together as opposed to me just applying wood glue because again it will dry not as fast it may take you a couple hours to fully dry wood glue overnight is the best when it comes to drying wood glue or even e6000 if you're using e6000 so i'm just gonna do the same application here and since hot glue dries fast i made sure that i really press hard and fast so that i will have a secure adherence or connection so the tougher glue once it dries up is the wood glue to hold this piece together and then the hot glue just a little bit of reinforcement there for ease of assembly i am using that as a reinforcement so on the opposite sides of each of the wood pieces i'm also applying some hot glue and wood glue to be honest i was only trying wood glue here and you will see even when i attach the plaque or the sign but then when i notice that it's not really adhering and balancing i decided to also apply hot glue where i applied my wood glue on the sides so since it's not adhering and it's unraveling off camera i have added hot glue to those portions that's going to touch the sides of my frame and here it is after a couple of hours of drying and then i'm applying my first coat of paint and then overnight i dried this and then applied my second coat of paint the next morning so here i'm just painting the legs as well as the top of the frame but i'm not going to be painting the sides of the frame because i want the black and white theme [Music] and then i went ahead and print this one from the graphicsfairy.com websites another freebie mod podge my matte finish mod podge i am also going to use it to adhere and attach this sign on the top and then i will be applying another couple of coats of this mod podge on the top to protect it because i might use it for potted plants i'm thinking this will be perfect for tea you know my teacups if i want to drink some tea as well as maybe have a little bit of dessert that's why i chose that printout because it mentions something about that you know cafe as well as pate chocolat and also syrup so i figured if i'm not using it as a plant stand i can use it as well for my tea because i love drinking tea or even coffee or even chocolate or hot cocoa and then i will have my pates and then you know maybe not so much about the syrup but more on the pates to be honest so again like i said i'm just using my paint brush here again applying a generous amount of my mod podge and then if you can see here i'm also pushing out some air bubbles that may have formed underneath just to make it look a little bit smoother i am not an expert decoupager there are a lot of artists online here on youtube as well so you can watch them as well now i have this brayer and i am just using it or a roller and i'm using it to push out more bubbles that may have formed underneath to give it a more even look so this is my tall kind of like mini side table slash plant stand as well as it could also be used or set up as a lantern to be honest without the glass because here's what i'm gonna do i'm gonna be using this other diy which i'm going to be linking in the description box below how i made this this is just a dollar tree led candle and i have decoupage another print out that i got online on there to show like a winter scene and i place it on a dollar tree glass base and then put some twine on the top to make it look more farmhouse so that is kind of like the lantern portion at the bottom you can put anything there maybe a small book or maybe another small plant but here the other diy i created earlier i'm just showing you that it can be a plant stand as well i really love it next i am going to be assembling this organizer without any tools so this is a no diy diy i'm just going to be arranging six pieces of this teal these are already painted in this color again i'm using it upside down the one with the signs or words are at the bottom so i'm not using any glue here because i figured i am just going to show you and if i'm tired of using it i can assemble it in another place so i used a total of six to seven i said six to seven because it's up to you how big your bottles are you can actually use wider bottles to the front that's why i used a seventh sign there but you can do only six if you only have the smaller bottles but for wider bottles or containers like i'm showing here i've used a total of seven wood signs so you can put anything there organize your craft things or organize your makeup your lotion and any other items you may use and you want to organize [Music] so i hope you like a little bit of that asmr that i left you with i was just you know painting without talking anyway here i am showing you again two 8x8 wood signs that they sell at dollar tree and i'm just painting them actually it'll be easier to paint if you sand them and i did not so sanding them would make the paint adhere a lot better and faster so i painted the inner part as well as the outer part in two coats of paint here i am just going to be applying again my wooden glue so that i will be able to stick my wood signs the teal signs that i already assembled earlier in a staircase style of organizer so here i am just going to be again applying some wood glue to where i'm able to adhere to the side of the box or the wood signs and as you can see the end or the tip of each of the wood signs and the bottom and those that are on the sides except for the one in the center i am also applying some glue to where it will connect to this kind of side here where i also applied some glue like so so this one will be a two-tier organizer since i'm using this wooden signs and i have enough space for three wooden signs i am going to be creating this two-tier organizer that is deeper or has more space to carry things in each shelf even the bigger or wider things and i will show you more towards the end also what i'm going to be using this for so here i'm just going to be wiping out or wiping off any excess glue that oozed out it's kind of a little challenging here because here i didn't use any guide i was just eyeballing the spaces in between because i want to create that flat slotted look because i want this to be dual purpose not just a two-tier shelf because i'm also creating a crate and i'll show you that later so here i am going to be applying my glue on the top side here and as you can see my painting isn't really done yet this is after my first drying but then i will be applying more paint later on i decided to just assemble this together and then paint my other coat of paint so here i'm just making sure that it lines up so here i am applying a generous amount of wood glue again to the ends of each of my valentine sign and i am just eyeballing where i'm gonna be placing them making sure that i put in the two ends first so one sign at the back which i did first and then one side towards the front and then the one in the middle i eyeballed so that i have it at the center so in order to dry it again i will be putting heavy items or objects on top of where i connected them on both of the tiers and then the next day i finished painting the two wood signs on the side i've decided to give it a little bit of contrast using this other shade of teal a little bit brighter so that there'll be contrast so it's kind of like bluish as opposed to greenish teal that i've used for the signs so at least it's like a color block style or kind of like a dual tone similar to that glass base that i painted on a previous project so the reason why i like the slotted design is because of my potted herbs and when i'm watering them i want to be able to also ensure that there's enough air circulation i'm showing that hooray sign from dollar tree that i purchased about two years ago and that was my color inspiration here here i propped it up with a plate and a bowl and also some of my kitchen utensils you know the cooking utensils the wooden utensils they sell them also dollar tree and yeah i have some items here that i would display on top of my kitchen counter so i'm just propping it up here i even have that gather bamboo cutting board i got that at the lakeside collection website on clearance so i think i only purchased it for six dollars and i really love it a lot so here are some more photos on how i displayed things on this two-shelf crate organizer and then i am here showing you again and i you know you can finish the painting here this is not a perfect paint job to be honest that was supposed to be the back part i used it kind of reverse and i just noticed when i was kind of editing it but i used this to prop it up with my plates and my bowls in the kitchen so yeah it can hold even those plates from dollar tree on top again this is load bearing this is sturdy so it's not going to wobble it can hold but of course check the limitation as well not too heavy for the next one i'm just going to be repositioning this so that i can be able to use this as a crate so i'm just going to be giving you an idea on how to do that i am not going to be connecting them because that's not what i'm going to be using it for but of course it's a great idea if you want to do it this way so i will be needing three more wooden signs the valentine signs by the way i purchased this online because i am a diyer here on youtube so oftentimes i need more materials so i often buy them online free drop shipping to my local dollar tree so that's why i have these two in pink they come in a set of 24 okay in a pack or that's the bald price and i purchased 24 pieces and they came in four colors some are in pink some are in teal and some summer in white and blue so just so you know this were purchased not in one local dollar tree store so i just want to show you where you're going to be able to position the other three signs so that you can create a crate that will have a bottom now if you want to use this as a planter to be honest if you're placing this outside in your backyard or your front porch you can put probably two big plants here and you can just keep the bottom bare you don't have to put three more signs like i'm showing here but if you want to use this indoors or if you really want to use it even outdoors and you want to create a taller crate or planter then you can add the three signs so the signs the additional three wooden signs at the bottom are optional but like i said if i'm gonna be using this so that i can save materials i don't need to add the three additional signs i can just put the plants there and if i water then the bottom part you know you don't really need to because there will be soil there will be mud there'll be water so at least you're able to save not only materials but also the bottom part of the crate and here i'm just going to show you that this can be used to corral things in your home so you can use this as a filing box you know if you have a lot of folders that you want to file but here i'm going to be showing you that this will be also a perfect organizer for crafters who often have a lot of this can you guess what it is rolls of vinyl so nowadays a lot of people have crickets or silhouettes and they have a lot of rolls of vinyl so for those crafters out there if you want to corral or hold your tubes or rolls of vinyls then you can use this to hold them and in my channel i've shown several already ideas on how to organize your vinyl sheets your rolls of vinyls and this is just one of them especially if you have a style that you are kind of doing in your craft room you want it to be more farmhouse and you don't really like the use of so much plastic as i know some of my diys my previous diys make use of them and here is another option if you don't like plastic at least you can use this wood signs so this can hold a lot of rolls and i don't really have a lot because i am not really into heavy cricket or cutting i do have a cricut but i don't have a lot of vinyls yet but i know that this will allow me to fit in quite a bit especially for a starter like me but even for those who are not starters but those common ones that you use like black rolls then you can use this see here these are the only rolls that i have and they fit and i know i can fit much more and here is my caddy that i purchased at target dollar spot a while back i think i purchased that for five dollars a couple of years ago and it matches the color [Music] so i hope you like what i've done there too so that's the before as a crate that can be used as an organizer for your paper or roll or even probably gift wrapping paper as long as they're not too tall if you want to do two stacks of this to hold the taller rolls that'll work out too for the next diy i'm going to be making another display case and this time i'm going to be using another different form of wood sign or actually they're made of particle board from dollar tree and this is the finished project just so you could preview it it looks like a small house or a dollhouse but i propped it up in fall when i made this but towards the end of this video i'm gonna show you how else i'm going to be displaying things inside of it so here are the wood signs that i got at dollar tree they sell this seasonally i purchased this during summer time that's why the theme is about the beach about swimming about the sea there's even a sea shell on each one i am going to be using a total of six pieces they measure around 10 inch square and i really love that they are sturdy they may not be pure heavy thick wood but they are sturdy enough for this project i'll be using of course pair of scissors my e6000 and then also my hot glue and glue gun as well as my chalk paint i'll be using a paint brush to apply my chalk paint and then i need a ready board white foam board that they also sell at dollar tree and i need my utility knife to cut i'll be using this brown wood grain adhesive shelf liner from dollar tree as well and then floral garden decorative nautical ropes that i also got at dollar tree first i'm going to be removing this decoration here because i want the wood to be flat so i don't need anything that's protruding and then i'm also even removing this rope here or the string that is used to hang these pieces and then i'm just gonna go ahead and remove even the stickers at the back and then i'm gonna paint all over this wooden plaque so on the top and on the side and at the back doesn't have to be perfect i'm actually doing a little bit of a dry brush technique here because again i want it to look distressed or weathered that's why i didn't even bother to even sand the pieces if you want it smoother then go for it just use the sandpaper and then remove the dust and then paint them but here as i was showing you i didn't even have to make it perfect i like it weathered look or even distressed using my e6000 in combination with my hot glue i'll be connecting the pieces together so first this one i'm using this to be my side of the house so the bottom part will be one of the pieces and then i am just gluing one on each side on each opposite side i'm kind of making a box first right now like i said i'm combining e6000 with hot glue for stronger hold the e6000 would dry overnight or several hours and it will be the one that will keep this together for a long time while the hot glue will already dry fast at least to hold the pieces together initially until the e6000 cures so i put in some notes there on this video and as you can see i'm putting something in between here so that they will stand up this is the trick if you are trying to work by yourself and then i'm putting another piece on top of those two pieces that i attached to the bottom piece so if you imagine this building a house you have a floor the one at the bottom and then you have two walls the one on each side and then the one on the top will be either your ceiling for the first floor and then it'll be also the top of your house or the second level now i use a foam board and using this cutter that i got at dollar tree i'm cutting this foam board and i give it a fourth of an inch allowance on each side and at the top part in order for me to connect them all together i'm using the foam core board to the back just in case i want to create a window and also it is wider than the plaque itself because you might be wondering i could have just used another plaque but unfortunately it's not the case because it's not really even i was trying it and there was some gap so i just decided to use a foam core board now here the top there's an advantage to those holes so there are total four holes for these two pieces and i just use my zip ties to hold them in place for now so i'm not tightening the zip ties quite yet only a little bit enough for me to be able to expand it in a way that it is shaped like a rooftop as you can see i've been adjusting it to ensure that it kind of gives me that wiggle room or that allowance for me to do the pitch of the rooftop so i'm gonna be applying hot glue and e6000 here again e6000 is amazing by the way when it comes to stronger hold but hot glue is really amazing too when it comes to instant gratification although it's not as strong when it comes to holding things together and that's when the e6000 comes in so i'm doing that on each end and then whatever crevices that i may have or any gaps or seams i tried to put as much hot glue there and even e6000 to keep this in place like so by the way another reason why i was using the foam core board for the backing in case i needed to create a window there someday i can open that up even with the back door so that's why i kind of use that one there i'm applying more e6000 here i mean working with glue is really messy but it is doable so here i'm just tracing a rectangle shape that will be perfect to fit onto the backing of my rooftop because it's in triangle shape so this is what it looks like and then i just applied hot glue there again for my packing now i have tightened the top now that it's stable and the glue has dried the next day i tightened the zip ties and then applied more hot glue to the seams and then i used my wire cutter to cut off the excess zip ties then i'm covering the rooftop i'm using this contact paper from dollar tree you could also paint the rooftop and i just opted for this one because it really looks like wood and i'm kind of trying to do some kind of a barnyard effect i guess and that's the reason why i use this one too and then i just applied it making sure there are no bubbles i gave it at least a half an inch allowance on each side so that i'll be able to fold the bottom and then i'm just sliding my palm to ensure there are no bubbles and then i'm folding the bottom part where i place an excess of half an inch and then i'm trimming the corners first to the bottom as well as the side so i keep each side the sides and the bottom of this rooftop half an inch in order for me to be able to kind of create this kind of fold so that i will have a finished edge so after making my cuts to the corners and the bottom i folded my contact paper on one of the sides and then i've repeated it onto the opposite side whatever that i've done on the other side i did to the opposite side and then to finish off the rooftop because it's not really looking pretty right now i tried to camouflage it with a nautical rope and then i just hot glued the nautical rope and i'm using my scissors to remove any loose threads so this is my rustic barn slash house i even covered the back with my contact paper to give it that wooden barnyard look i'm finishing up the edges with more paint here and even though this is rustic or barn look i want to make sure that also it looks finished and not really sloppy and here it is i love how it turned out i'm just using all this items or fall decor items from the dollar tree putting a bow there on the top and even this lamp here is from dollar tree this is my favorite season of all fall so that's why when i made this originally it was still early summer i already made this decoration i love it and i'm showing you the close-up look at the edges when i painted it white it looks more polished or cleaner love it and i just put it on top of a stand i think this is a plant stand and i put it in the corner of our staircase landing and i can use this change the decorations season to season and i like that this one also is very functional and practical not only for home decorations it can also be an organizer so this one here it can organize books and also it can hold other items as well i didn't get to prop it up with other things but you can use this to probably put in some rolled towels or folded towels on this lower shelf and then some probably soap and bars on the top but right now here again this is another decoration here for spring and i really love how this one turned out beautiful so here i'm gonna be adding this light that i got also a dollar tree to kind of illuminate the top portion there and voila so i hope you like that one as well this is one of my favorite projects and it still is i still use this all year round next is another deco organizer i'm gonna be creating a caddy that can be propped up as a home decor all throughout the year for any season and also can be used as an organizer so i'm going to be using this 8 by 8 square wooden frame and i'm just snapping off this backing here that they use for hanging and this is the right width that matches this dry erase paddle board so i'm just going to be painting the sides the inner sides here using my rust-oleum chalk paint now this is not sponsored i purchased this at amazon and i can link it in the description box below in case you're interested now i'm going to be using also this jumbo craft sticks and i think they sell them also dollar tree but i got mine at amazon and i'll be linking them in the description box below again in case you're interested i believe walmart sells them as well so this is just a small cut that i'm making so because it is so thin i am going to be just cutting one end i'm not cutting both ends so i'm just trimming it to size so that it'll fit inside the back of my frame i'm just using a sharp pair of scissors here and the first stick that i showed you this one here i just angled it i just cut an angle using the same scissors and to make sure that i also fit that one there on the top corner so that'll be my first stick and then the rest i am just going to be using them in full except for the last two the second from the last one i cut the angles as well but since there is a space there a small space i am cutting one piece to size in order for it to fit i'm just using this box cutter and i am just scoring it lightly and then until i'm able to snap it like so and then i'm gonna be cutting or trimming each end with angles so that they will just fit in that corner then once every stick fits i am applying hot glue on each one and then adhering them to the inner part or the back part of the frame just using hot glue if you're new to my channel welcome if you haven't subscribed yet please do subscribe and don't forget to click that notification bell icon so that you will not miss any of my new uploads i love making organizers and home decor as well enough i can do them in one project all the better voila now i am going to be attaching my paddle board on each side but before i do that i just want to make sure that i measure my stick i just got this dowel from i believe walmart before you probably need a saw to cut that i'm just using my dollar tree handy dandy scissors it's sharp enough and it can cut through this dowel here you can buy dowels at walmart as well as michaels or joann's any craft stores will carry the dowels so i'm just streaming this and then what i'm gonna do before i connect or attach the paddle boards i am just going to be puncturing holes on each of the handle of my paddle board so i'm just marking where i am going to be puncturing the holes now you can use a drill or a screwdriver a manual screwdriver or an electric drill you can use that just showing you you can use this dollar tree scissors actually this is so tough and i've used this to even cut those you know garden fences and even wires floral wires and look this did the job i was able to puncture the hole so here they are and i'm now ready to assemble the pieces together but first i am just going to be gluing again you can use hot glue with e6000 and super glue or any industrial type glue not just hot glue because it's not gonna work it's gonna be detached but for demonstration purposes i'm just using it here i'm doing the same thing on the opposite side with the other paddle board now i'm going to be applying hot glue to the inner part of the circle or that hole that i created and to the ends of my dowel so that it will be secure and then after i attach the handle i am going to be pushing it a little bit to make sure that it goes all the way to the end without anything sticking out that's why i measured it beforehand and then i'm also doing it on the opposite end and then also adding more glue to the opposite side of my handle with the hole you know that opposite hole there like so so that it'll be more secured later on i'm going to show you what i'm going to use to camouflage the holes i'm just going to let it dry and then now i'm ready to paint i'm not going to paint the sticks that i placed on the back side of the frame which is now the top side because i want to make it look dual tone and i like the natural finish so i'm just gonna paint with my rust-oleum chopped linen white paint the outer part of my frame and then i am just going to be applying some more paint on the paddle board as you could see there is an unfinished side there i was thinking maybe leaving it like that in brown but i've decided to paint it also with the same linen paint to just make it a little bit more cohesive [Music] we're going to choose this here i'm just going to create a couple of bows to cover this or you can put buttons or anything that you may want to use so i'm just going to go ahead and create simple bows to attach or or glue here so that at least the hole will not be showing up i'm just going to be hot gluing it so that camouflages that now since this is a dry erase board i just don't have a dry erase marker right now but you can also write messages here you know you can freehand it just seasonal greetings there on each side and it's functional too you can write messages on each side or reminders kind of like a memo board so i'm just adding some winter theme accessories here decorations i love this a lot as a decorative item but if you want to make it a little bit more functional as a storage or organizer i'm using it to hold my hand towels as well as face towels and i can put this in a guest bathroom or in any bathroom inside the house just to carry a little bit of winter theme as well as organization the next diy i'm gonna be doing a little bit of upcycling and here's the finished project for this diy i will be using this picture frame measuring three and a half by five inches and i like this because this is the new line from the dollar tree i love the finish and i like the fact that it has this metal label on the front so i will be removing the insert that would include also this pretty wooden backing and it's made of wood as well i will be setting this aside so that i can also use it for future projects so for this diy i would need a total of four pieces of this picture frame and i'm also going to be using this empty shoe box for men's shoes and i suggest that size because it's wider or bigger you can also use the women's boots boxes because they tend to come in bigger because i think for this project the regular size for women will not work now anyway i am going to be utilizing the bottom part of the shoe box as my base in creating this organizer as you can see there is a gap at the center middle part i'll be using this hardwood stakes that i got at 99 cents only store it came with five pieces in a pack for a dollar ninety nine so if you have a 99 cents only store nearby you can purchase this during spring season or gardening season and this is the perfect size for filling the space in between these pairs of picture frames if you do not have any 99 cents only store nearby you can also go to the hardware store or any gardening center that probably would carry similar items so like i said in the beginning i will be emptying this picture frames i'm leaving the frame only and removing the backing and at first i'm just gonna try to fold the metal fasteners and it's just gonna be easy to manipulate with just my thumb but you can also use pliers actually later on i will show you that i ended up removing them because i rather have a flat and more balance backing so anyway i am just going to go ahead and measure my stick and it will be lining up to the edges of the picture frames so as you can see here i'm trying to measure it to the same length or width i have this tool that i use it's called a miter cutter and i got this at amazon this is really an amazing tool when you're doing some crafting with wood and you want to cut this one does the job but if you don't have this type of cutter you can also use a handsaw a hacksaw or if you have a circular saw all the better but this one it's amazing like i said it just cuts through when you have to craft with smaller wood even cutting miter corners for smaller frames that would work as well so i'm gonna go ahead and cut two more pieces i'm using the first one that i cut as my template so i have a total of three now do not pay too much attention with this other two here originally i was thinking of framing it onto the sides as well but it ended up that i didn't need to like i said earlier it's easy to remove these fasteners i ended up removing all of them from the back of all the four frames then i'm applying my wood glue this is a gorilla wood glue it's easier and better to adhere when it comes to wood using wood glue rather than e6000 or even hot glue so this is the perfect one for adhering wood pieces so i'm just applying it with a skewer or barbecue sticks and just removing all the excess and then just drying them up for about a couple of hours or even less and then i'm also going to go ahead and add some popsicle or craft sticks to ensure that my connections are secure and stable and then i'm gonna be applying again some more wood glue onto the pieces of wood that i cut earlier in order to connect them all together to connect them to the frames the bottom of these two frames here and then i will be applying hot glue on the top of these two other frames that will be the bottom part and i will connect that to the bottom of the piece of wood that i cut i'm just wiping off the excess glue that oozes out now with this empty box i am just testing it out after drying my wood pieces and they're sticking together perfectly like i said and i am now satisfied with the width that's why i didn't need the two longer wood but if you want to have a wider look go ahead and do that but i didn't need to because again it may overlap more and i rather have it looking flush so what i'm going to do here is utilize the cover or the lid of my shoe box and i'm going to be cutting them into pieces so first i am going to be marking the height of this piece and i am going to be putting as dividers for my shelf so i'm just marking it with pencil and then using my cutter this is a box cutter or known as x-acto knife or cutter then i'm cutting the corner so that i can easily just cut through my cardboard so i've cut it with my box cutter of course not smoothly but don't worry i am going to be covering those it will not look this ugly or rough on the edges so you can also use by the way illustration board or poster boards if you want to do this but i'm just using what i have because i want to encourage you to upcycle things so anyway i've measured this and this is the perfect length and then i'm gonna go ahead and do the one across which is shorter so i place my vertical one and now this is the horizontal one i'm just measuring the width now my advice to you measure twice cut once i did it incorrectly instead of cutting on to the right of that i cut it a little short but that's okay i am going to be solving this with additional material that i have left over so i realized my mistake there but that's okay it's no big deal because again this is not going to show up anyway they will be just the internal part of my project so here i just mark the center of the two pieces and then cut a slit on each one leaving about a half an inch on each one and then that's where i connected them kind of like an intersection i intersect connect them and there's still gap on the sides but like i said i'm gonna solve that and here i'm just straightening and measuring it and again trying to test if my top would sit well so what i'm gonna do is i'm gonna be utilizing also the remaining parts of my lid and i am going to go ahead and use them to support my shelves so i'm going to go ahead and cut that border or strip to glue it at the center of my empty box i trim this one to size and then i'm going to be applying hot glue and then i am just going to be placing it at the center like so and then i'm going to do the remaining pieces again just kind of like creating a perpendicular or a cross and then just hot gluing it at the center here this will offer additional support for my shelves and then my remaining piece here i'm gonna cut them into smaller pieces equal height and that's the one that i'm going to be using to fill in the gaps as a matter of fact even if i had a good measure earlier i would prefer to have additional support like this to make it a little bit better so hot gluing those two pieces again one on each side like so and then now i'm gonna go ahead and check this out for measure and see if it fits snugly and it does so i'm just gonna go ahead and apply hot glue on this side here and on that side there and then i'm just gonna go ahead and attach it to those cardboard excess that i have placed and then i am just going to go ahead and straighten it making sure that everything lines up properly and then applying more hot glue to ensure that they connect well if there are any gaps this is where i am going to be applying my glue to secure my shelf now i'm going to be adding this gorilla tape to go you can also use electric tape just to cover the shelves so that it will look much better because again the edges are kind of rough when i cut them i didn't do a smooth cut and so i'm just utilizing this to cover the edges you can also use washi but since i have this anyway on hand my husband bought this it's in his toolbox so i borrowed it and told him i'm gonna be using some of them and it worked out well because my shoebox which i'm not gonna be painting by the way because i like the finish i like the black matte on this box and also the interior i like the tan color so the combination or the contrast of the black and the tan really works out fine for me and then that's it now i can start assembling this or attaching the top i placed this block which i got from one of my projects left over from those box signs that i've been using you can also use the stumbling blocks two of them just place them at the center where the shelves intersect just to provide additional support because there's a gap there so i'm just gonna be applying hot glue to the edges of my empty shoe box which is not too empty right now because i attach my shelves and then i am just going to go ahead and connect my wooden frames you can also use e6000 if you prefer for a stronger hold but i like using hot glue whenever i can it provides a strong hold as well depending on the material so the combination of the cardboard and the wood with the hot glue works out just fine wood glue would work fine as well but the reason why i'm using hot glue in case i need to dismantle this it'll be much faster if i want to remove the backing and it works out fine you will see in the end it is a durable connection now i'm also off camera putting in some additional or left over of my shoe boxes lid and placing them where there are gaps on the top shelf because as you can see this is not really flush on the center part so i'm just adding them just to make it look better but like i said this one would hardly show the interior because it's going to be covered with things that you're going to put in so here i'm just adding more hot glue to the edges or to the connections to secure it much better and i am done voila so i've noticed a gap here when it dried up and that is bothering me i don't have a wood putty but i do have a caulk and that works out fine as well so just my tip for you if you have gaps and you're working with wood you can use that as well so i'm painting the three pieces of wood that i cut earlier with my favorite acrylic paint my nutmeg brown by apple barrel and i'm just slowly and carefully painting those three pieces of wood earlier i was thinking about maybe painting them all the same color including the frames but i do like the finish of the frame i like the contrast of the light wood on the four frames and then flanked by the nutmeg brown incidentally the nutmeg brown matches the tan of the box that i'm using the shoebox the inner part matches perfectly so i'm painting also the edges to give it a more finished look i love the color combination of the tan that matches the nutmeg brown and then complements the black as well as the light wood next i'm gonna go ahead and insert some labels inside those label holders that came with or built into the picture frames so i printed four labels to identify the contents i'm going to be using this to organize my pens so for this one i'm gonna be using this for my infusible for my cricut and then on its right the crazy art pens that i have and then on the bottom left part i have chalk paints or chalk markers and then on the bottom right i will be putting or placing my calligraphy pens if you have copic pens or any journaling pens you can use this as well so i'm just using this for my growing collection of pens this has a little bit of angle here it is perfect for pens that's why i did it that way so that the pens would not just lay flat but it has a little bit of a pitch or an angle so that the ink would also be going a little downward but not too much i don't know if i'm making so much sense here but i'll just show you when i put all the pens in as you can see there's a tilt and the way i'm positioning the pens the bottom or the tip part will be in the inner part of each of the compartments like so so the ones that are sticking out that i could see are the bottom parts of the pen and this will allow the ink to flow better when i use them [Music] so this is it the final project i'm using it as again my collection of pens organizer but there are a lot of other uses that you can use this for but for me i'm using this because i love journaling and i do like coloring books and i like using different colors of pens but i am also showing here that you can use this for maybe your note cards you can separate them by seasons or by occasions if you want to hold birthday cards or blank cards for any season or any occasion of course i didn't redo the labels anymore i'm just showing here that it can also hold the blank greeting cards or blank cards as well and for the last diy is my piece the resistance my favorite of this lineup for this diy i'll be using this empty packaging box that came in we received a gift of flowers from a friend in ohio and i figured the box is something durable that i will be able to use as an organizer so i cut off the lid first making sure that i cut it straight at first i left about a fourth of an inch there just to see if i will be able to use it as a support later on i will be using these four wooden frames from dollar tree this is a 3.5 by 5 inch frame it is a new frame that they came with and i tell you the material on this one is really amazing and i like the fact that it already came with its own label holder so what i'm doing here is i'm just going to go ahead and remove the inserts i'm going to be keeping the glass on each one i also kept the three fasteners just to kind of give it a little bit of a guard while i'll also hot glue the edges that connects the glass to the inner part of the frame so you notice that i didn't put the hot glue first and then put back the glass i just did it or used it to seal the spaces or the gaps and it works just fine so i'm gonna go ahead and do that on the other three frames as well so now that i have them i'm gonna go ahead and cut my pieces of wood in my previous diy i showed you that i purchased a set of five stakes or wooden stakes or garden stakes that i got at 99 cents only store for a dollar ninety-nine each of the stakes measure around half an inch thick so now i'm going to be measuring it to the length of the frame and when i measured it with my ruler it's about 6 inches long and i have this miter cutter that i got at amazon and i use this whenever i'm cutting or working on smaller pieces of wood so i cut it to size and what i'm going to be doing is i'm going to go ahead and cutting several of them actually a total of seven pieces i'm also cutting or trimming that one-fourth of an inch that i left the overhang that i thought i might need so now the two sides line up so i'm gonna go ahead and apply my gorilla wood glue to the pieces of wood that i cut out and then apply them and connect them to the frames so there will be one piece of wood in between the four frames and then towards the end both opposites and i will be add an extra wood piece so there will be two pieces in the beginning of the frames and then at the end there will be two pieces as well each time before the glue dries up anything that oozes out i'm wiping it with a damp paper towel so i'm also applying the glue on the side of the frame on this one and then attach it to the wood piece like i said earlier all of them will be connected next to each other and there will be one wood piece that i cut out in between those frames do so i've attached all of them you notice there are two pieces of wood on each end because i needed those to fill the gaps to cover my box and i'm flanking them with heavy items so on the right i have my organizer for my tools and on the left are my journal organizers next i'm gonna go ahead and cut out a cardboard to fill in this a level corner here or end and then i'm just hot gluing it in place it doesn't have to be so flush i just knead it so that it will have an even surface that doesn't have any big gap because what i'm gonna do is i'm gonna go ahead and cut my popsicle or craft sticks these are the jumbo sticks that i got at walmart and i'm just marking each end where i'm gonna do my cut because i am just going to go ahead and hot glue six pieces of this to the side to make it more like a wooden box piece so i'm just gonna go ahead and use a sharp pair of scissors to cut my first stick on the lines and then i'm gonna go ahead and test that for size and if it works out i'm gonna use that as kind of like my guide or my template to cut the other pieces so i need a total of 12 pieces of jumbo sticks again you can get them at one they also sell them at amazon and at walmart i think it's just like 98 cents for a pack of 20 if i'm not mistaken dollar tree sometimes carries them as well so anyway i'm gonna go ahead and apply hot glue and then connect all of them to the side six pieces on one side and six pieces on the other side just to cover everything and here it is this is what it looks like after i had glued them to the side and then i'm going to go ahead and attach my front so this is when i noticed i think i should have done something differently in the beginning before hot gluing all of my glasses onto the frame i should have used the frame as my guide and then perhaps after i connected all the pieces together with the wood glue i should have then saved for the later part to hot glue the glass but you know sometimes whenever i'm doing my diy that's when i realize oops i made an oops here but here's how i'm gonna solve it i'm gonna go ahead and put the inserts kind of like laid back on where it's supposed to be earlier but i'm not gonna glue it into place but i'm gonna put glue dots you can also put double-sided tapes or maybe even apply a dab of hot glue although it dries too fast probably that's not a very good idea but anything that can help it adhere quickly so glue dots or double sided tapes and then i just line up the side where i'm going to be doing my cut to the frame and then hoping and it did work here it is again you don't have to make this kind of tedious process because i've done the mistakes for you and what you can do is do it right when you do it so i'm applying a little bit of hot glue there to keep it straight each one of them because i'm going to be using them as my guide so that i can mark them with my colored pen and then i'm gonna go ahead and do my cut as well so i'm using my ruler as my guide and then i'm tracing with my colored pen the sides now if you notice i'm just tracing the three lines the bottom and then the two sides but i'm not tracing the top because it is going to be so thin anyway what i'm gonna do is just cut through it so i'm just using my box cutter again you know this is just a simple exacto knife or box cutter and i'm even motioning that you can do an x there if you want to but i decided to just do it and follow the lines like so so as you can see i didn't leave anything if my box was a little higher then i could have left more materials but since it's gonna be just so thin it it just wouldn't matter anyway now i'm going to be applying again my wood glue onto the spaces where my frames will be sitting or connecting to and you don't have to worry about support here because i cut out the top i am going to show you that there will be support here as i progress with this diy make sure that when you're applying your glue apply it generously because you are going to be connecting the frames so be generous with it which is what i've done and then i'm gonna go ahead and then put or lay down my frames on top of them like so make sure to act quickly the good thing about wood glue as opposed to hot glue it doesn't dry as fast so you will have a little bit of time to adjust things to make sure that they line up so i dried it up about two hours and then i applied hot glue to the seams as you can see here just so that i have a little bit more of security there i'm securing it in place even though the wood glue is already in my mind enough but it always helps when you have an extra support so i've decided to add heavy objects again and lean it back to the wall to cure it overnight and i called it a day the next day i decided to use the lid i used every piece here just so you know so i'm cutting this one to size here and i've noticed that this is gonna be the exact size that will fit inside so i just cut it with my pair of scissors and then the one where you see there's a tape there the white tape that's the one that i'm going to be putting at the bottom so that it will be more leveled and it will add a little bit more of support at the bottom so i just trimmed a little bit on each end to make sure that it fits securely and then i just pushed it down and voila now the tape it doesn't bother me at all i'm just going to leave it there because when i fill this up with things it will be covered by the items i'm putting inside so now i'm going to go ahead and measure the inner part and then create my dividers using my remaining piece of that lid so i'm measuring it about seven inches long and then i'm marking this piece here of cardboard in equal size and then i drew lines to subdivide them and then that'll be my guide when i cut with my sharp scissors again so that's what i'm going to be using as my divider and what i do is i just try to make sure that the first one fits first and if it doesn't i just go ahead and trim it until the perfect fit is achieved as you can see here i'm still making cuts on each side and then what i'm gonna do is with the one that fits first i'm gonna use it as my template i've cut out two angles on the bottom one on each side so that it'll be easier for me to put it in place and then here i'm kind of testing where i'm going to be putting my remaining pieces of wood i'm actually almost running out of wood but i know that to make this box more secure i need two long ones and so i cut those in equal size as well if you notice i'm not really giving you the exact measurement because your box may be different than mine now i'm showing you here another box this is actually an amazon packaging box that i'm using and i'm cutting them tracing the dividers because i figured those that i cut out earlier were too thin and to double them up would be better and also camouflages the decoration or the printed part like the color purple as well as some letters there so it hits two birds with one stones here by camouflaging that as well as providing the thickness making my dividers more secure so i'm just using my scissors again to cut out these pieces after i hot glue them together and then i'm just going to go ahead and test them out see if they fit to size so i'm gonna leave this raw that's the reason why i want it double-sided looking like a cardboard actually they're not to show up once i fill them up but you can do whatever you want you can put contact paper any decorative paper or even paint the inner part if you like so what i'm doing here is i'm going to be applying hot glue to the bottom part and also the sides so that i can secure each of the divider in place like so next i'm testing where i'm going to be placing my long pieces of wood and then see where i'm gonna be securing them in place at first i was gonna be putting this one here behind the frames but then i figured perhaps i do not really need them there because i want the opening to be really huge too i don't want too much obstruction so i'm going to be putting it on top of the frame thereby finishing off that top part there and then i'm placing the other piece of long wood behind it so i'm just going to be applying hot glue here and then i'm going to go ahead and place my long piece of wood so i lean it back against the wall to make sure that it's straight and then i pressed each end or on top of the wood to make sure that it's secured in place unfortunately i wasn't able to take the footage of those two small pieces of wood around seven inches long each to secure them in place or attach them on the left and the right side of my box so one on each opposite end and then here i'm applying my gorilla wood glue to the bottom of my stick and then putting it on top of my assembled frames thereby finishing it off so like i said i had more leeway or time with the wood glue so i was able to reposition it now i have a few more pieces smaller pieces of food that i need to cut so around three of them to make sure that those dividers will have a good finish as well so i measured them around seven inches long each and then i'm cutting three pieces as a matter of fact one of them will have a little bit of a pointy end because i'm running out of my pieces of wood and then to attach them to the top of each of the cardboard dividers i'm applying wood glue to the bottom of each of my wooden pieces to finish them off doing this makes this box more like professionally done or more high-end rather than keeping or leaving those dividers bare you can also use popsicle sticks to cover them or even dowel rods as well as also use those barbecue skewer sticks those will work as well now speaking of wooden skewer sticks i'm using them also to fill in the gaps here on the side just to frame my craft sticks so i cut out four pieces on each side to just create the gap fillers made of the popsicle sticks so i put those on each side after drying for about couple of hours i went ahead and applied my first coat of paint by the way before applying this first coat of paint i did apply my caulk on the seams so that it will not show a lot of gaps because with the wood there were some gaps there that i had to kind of cover with the seal or caulk now you can also use wood putty if you like if you have it but the more readily available for me was more of the caulk that we use for sealing the tubs or the sinks and it worked out just fine what i was using is the white finish one and they sell that as well a tube costs only a dollar at the dollar tree but even cheaper if you go to the home improvement stores they only sell them for like 70 cents each so just a tip for you there the thing that i didn't seal here is the gap in between the sticks here because i wanted to make it look like it's shiplap so that's why i left a little bit of gaps in between and i love it and then i'm just dry brushing my chalk paint i'm going to be linking in the description box some of the items that you wouldn't find at dollar tree i purchased them at amazon like the chalk paint wood glue even my cutter in case you're interested because sometimes i get asked what i was using and they want to know where i got them from so anyway i'm being careful here not to put any paint or drop any paint inside so i am just also trying to clean up the smudges of paint that went to the iron label or the metal label holder here to make sure that it's clean so i'm just using a damp paper towel now if you haven't seen some of my diys when i was painting some old items that i thrifted i also used the wet paper towel method to give it a little bit of a more aged look okay to kind of give it a distressed look so but here i'm just cleaning the glass first with my damp towel and then i'm using it to kind of also rub off on the paint so that the paint is not really that even it looks like farmhousey like i said before in my other videos that i wanted to look a little bit more kind of aged that way so this is what it looks like even the sides look like shiplap i love that and yeah so i'm not painting or putting in any contact paper in the inner part because once i fill them up they will not show up and i'm just showing you the behind portion there now i'm thinking maybe i'm going to go ahead and put a burlap on the back as well as the bottom so i'll just cover them with burlap or maybe contact paper from dollar tree or walmart but i'm still deciding on that you can do whatever you want but right now it's not really necessary because i'll be leaning this up against the wall or it's not going to be something that you will see so if you want to save materials it's not something you're going to sell or it's not something you're gonna give us a gift here i am just going to be propping it up with my journals as well as my stickers so the necessary items that i need for journaling and i love that this can contain or hold so many things so i'm just showing you a few examples here on this section so for example i have this kind of organize my cutting dies you know the metal cutting dies and i put them in those gorgeous clear envelopes that you can get at dollar tree i also have my travelers notebooks there that are still unused and i'm gonna put them there in case i need to fill in my journals so they are very accessible i purchased some other paper pads that i got at dollar tree as well as all these note cards or greeting cards and you can see from the glass the designs as well so yeah i really love that this is very functional in case you're new to my channel that you haven't seen this one here i also use the same frames i only painted those pieces of wood with nutmeg brown acrylic paint so perhaps i'm going to be painting them white as well just to match with this because i'm thinking of probably keeping this for my craft or journaling table here it's gonna fit in also the six by six paper pads as well as the 4x5 or those smaller paper pads that they also sell at dollar tree or michael's or any craft stores and this is how i organize my paper pads even my 12 by 12 paper pads i put them inverted because it's easier to find the designs that way i don't even have to lift them up all i need to do is use my fingers and then just flip through the pages and then i can see the designs and if i find anything that i like i'm gonna go ahead and lift it up so just an extra tip there to make it easier for you to organize your paper pads next i'm going to go ahead and use it to organize or store my potatoes my veggies or tubers that do not necessarily need to go in the refrigerator like this red potatoes here and then also this gemstone potatoes those are the mini potatoes as well as lemons and limes or even garlic or anything that can be stored outside the refrigerator or shouldn't be stored inside the refrigerator i like that the glass itself will allow you to see what's inside but aside from that you can also print some labels from your printer like what i've done here i added labels to also identify what's inside the storage box that i just created i love the farmhouse look and like i said i left the inside there just so that it will be a little bit more rustic also rather than putting anything there that may not match my decor i love it and then finally i'm gonna show you that this one will work also as a pantry organizer you can easily identify what's inside you don't have to put the label anymore the label is optional but because of the clear glass from the frame you can easily identify the contents of each of the compartment like this kimchi noodle soup as well as the microwavable popcorn as well as this dark chocolate morsels and at the end i'm gonna be putting some also cookies or milano chocolate cookies that we really love in our household this multi-purpose organizer can be used anywhere in your home whether it's your home office your craft room your bathroom your kitchen or pantry anywhere it can fit so many things as well so i hope you enjoyed this video everyone and i hope that i have inspired you to upcycle and reuse especially nowadays when a lot of things are being ordered online and they come in shipping boxes you don't have to spend so much money to upcycle them you can use dollar store items or things that you may already have around the home combine them together so i hope you enjoyed this video if you did please give it a thumbs up please share to anyone who may be interested in these types of projects and if you haven't subscribed yet please do
