hey guys phil here at wood street farm today we're kind of finalizing the layout here for our fall planting and uh what we had to do if you saw a previous video where we got all this set up we uh laid out twine and steaks and well now we want to rip the soil and all that twine and stakes is in our way so we had to pull everything up and then mark our rows with marking paint so everywhere we've got paint like that and then we just you know every 15 20 feet or so we made a little dash so we got something to follow with the tractor and now stacy's got the ripper hooked up on the tractor over here so she's going to go ahead and do this this is actually her first time using the ripper on the tractor so all she's got to do is just drop that ripper in the ground at the beginning of the row follow her paint marks when she gets to the end of the row lift the ripper up turn around and do it all over again so we've got about 30 rows to do here between this section and the other section that's further back in the field so follow along let's have a little fun here we go [Music] [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] so up [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] all right since the tractor got stuck a couple times on some of that tougher soil she's going to come back through over the same strip and see if we can't get that all broken [Applause] up [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] all right so you get the idea do that about 30 more times 30 more rows and then we just let this sit here for a couple weeks like this hopefully we get a couple good rains and you know these gashes that we're cutting in the earth are going to kind of close themselves back up but that soil is going to be a lot a lot less dense once it closes back up than it is right now and then just before we plant uh we'll come over here with the tiller maybe a week before we plant we'll come over all these rows with the tiller we'll break up those big clumps that are at the surface and leave ourselves a nice clean strip of soil to plant our trees in so that's our planting process or at least a prep for planting and i come back end of october is when we're planning on putting several hundred trees in the ground out here so if you've got any questions or comments about how we prep our soil you know we've got several other videos for what we did last season which is really just the same thing the only thing that's new for us this season is the way we laid out the rows which i showed some of that in the last video and then marking the rows with paint which we did just today was this was the first time we did that to make sure everything stays nice and light in previous years all we did was um kind of eyeball where we wanted our rows to be we didn't have everything really cleanly laid out and as a result our rows are like all over the place i mentioned that before in previous videos too so that's it for today guys if you got any other questions or comments then just leave those below if you enjoyed this video hit the like button and uh i'll see you on the next one thanks guys
