150 Year Old Map Led Us to an Absolute Jackpot in an Underground Stone Chamber

now let's see here it's bottle free scratch it there's a ton of rocks and broken glass in here we're in it foreign [Music] I'm in Decorah Iowa standing in front of this big brick house that was built back in the 1870s I got permission to excavate the backyard and hopefully we can find some remnants left over from the old days I've kicked some marks in the ground showing the dimensions of the area we'll be digging it could extend beyond into these rocks or into this Pond area but all we can do is take the topsoil off and see what direction it could potentially head we'll get started [Music] foreign [Music] [Music] wow that's got some decent age we had a tool top MP and Company it's a drugstore bottle oh wow that's an Edison style bulb National Mazda look at that here we go okay an early machine made drugs for a bottle 16 ounce and look at that pattern wow foreign store bottle machine made cold cream container it's not writing on it foreign [Applause] drugstore bottle it's like the same style as the previous one I just pulled up wow this Pit's just loaded foreign drugstore bottle [Music] foreign popular product in this household I guess it's like a little ointment pot of some sort you see any writing on it WT and Company okay Whittle Tatum it's a little Tatum glass company looks like it's actually an amber color that's somewhat unusual kind of cool oh that mason jar look at this one might have some good age let's see I'll spoke to you soon machine made 16 ounce drugstore bottle that looks like a machine made ketchup bottle anything on the bottom there it is h.j Hines and Company patented the style of this bottle was patented another machine made drugstore bottle some kind of pickle bottle looks like there's an intact label around the neck there too far gone to read though foreign bottle of some sort blocking and another there's a big house I suppose could have been a big family I got sick needed medicine got the big bottle it's just solid bottles down here a couple cold cream containers it looks like on the way up like to be the same type of piece no embossing on the bottom and dinner plate some kind of English stamp on it [Applause] I hope it's another blank drugstore bottle there we go foreign [Applause] [Music] foreign [Applause] other medicine and maybe even another okay well okay this must be a yeah oh wow look at that embossing milk of magnesia foreign liquor bottle whiskey probably all right come on the truth maybe able to get this big can out of here I don't know if there's anything in it still a few pieces in the way okay another bulb it's a generic piece I don't think there's any writing on it here we go oh wow full of bottles let's see what's in here another piece that blue stretch dish a couple more medicines and uh another medicine some broken pieces there you have it oh it got a bit late last night so we covered it over and came back there's a few pieces on the way out everything so far has seemed to date back to that World War One era machine made stuff although could get a bit better in age I'll pull out these few pieces looks like this just fell out overnight Sanford Inc company New York machine made looks like there's no beer maybe a soda Broken Top this may have had a tooled top on it actually some broken pieces foreign will the age seem to drop a bit I was clearing this down and this ink bottle came out another Carter's this one's a tooled top though could that be applied hmm too old for sure anyway over here looks like we have a blob soda and an embossed drugstore bottle wow EI Weiser druggist Decorah Iowa that's got some good age to it sharper lip wow all right now what do we have here another bottle next to it foreign drugstore bottle whoa the Pioneer Drug Company El wiser drug has established 1856. loose oh and we got another one see another one of these machine made drugstore bottles covered here this one's labeled looks like sewing a sewing machine oil share share Gillette company of Chicago wow it was length face down must have uh preserve the label over the years and another broken oh there it is foreign intact plate nearly nothing Ironstone whiteware English let's say Johnson Brothers okay dig a lot of these around the Midwest and a cold cream foreign there we go a tool top new embossing sometimes these have the product line on it about this one maybe getting into some line oh yeah maybe in an old Outhouse but they threw lime over these to neutralize the smell way back when foreign container no another drugstore bottle and another wow and these are all 12 ounce maybe 16 ounce maybe getting towards a record this sounds broken some kind of whiskey bottle top let's see here looks like some kind of Master ink oh got some writing on it Sanford's ink one pint Sanford's inks and Library paste early machine made Illinois glass company mark oh some kind of oh wow looks like a hair brush would have been Chrome probably nickel plated back in those days some kind of stand on the handle maybe not looks like there's a brand on it what's that say I'll have to clean that up I cleaned this off a bit it can actually be silver plated I'm not sure but it says sanitax Brush Company with patent dates of 1898 1901 Chicago USA that's really cool foreign made drugstore bottle foreign have to wash that off foreign probably why they discarded it okay ball Triple Loop the dropped a well I'm dropping into some different colored dirt you can see there's this white color that's a potentially lime they would have thrown lime over Outhouse pits back and they didn't neutralize the smell there's also some brown colored dirt so it's a possibility there was this blue bottle that's sticking out oh let's see yeah it's better age down here this is the tool top oh what do we have here bromo caffeine well I've only dug one other of these and that was probably 15 years ago it's one of the first bottles ever dug actually Wild okay there's something I'd loosen up over here another one with some good age it's like a monogram of some sort I'm not entirely sure no other embossing on it it could be a little ink what's that monogram say I'll have to do some research on that I was clearing it down in this little ointment pot came out so Whittle Tatum company we've got a ton of pieces here uh possibly a ketchup it's like some kind of ribbed Base and maybe a liquor flask but here is about this one we'll see how it goes oh we got another soda contents what is that Calamar bottling works calmer Iowa it's machine made it's a really cool base [Applause] broken liquor flask another medicine foreign polish bottle machine made another ointment pot another drugstore bottle I just pulled out this Edison style bulb this one only says Mazda on it that's the first one I've seen like this I've dug a few that will have Edison Mazda a few with national Mazda if you'll notice the interior had hadn't corroded the ball we kept it preserved all those years that is amazing there we go huh tool tough little champagne or wine a little cold cream cosmetic container machine made drugstore bottle lyric lyrics Style another cosmetic container wow give me another piece for that floral pattern plate another machine made drugstore bottle Illinois glass company mark that color that down and another hmm a little chemical or tablet bottle early machine made it's like the internal Gears of a clock possibly whoa [Applause] I don't even know what's going on with that um okay this might have been the latest of the clock here this would have been something really fancy I'll have to brush it off see if there's any company marks on it another floral pattern no company marks foreign water yeah it looks like there's some kind of bowl here see if I can pull this thing loose wow so that's uh I think part to an entry door you can see the iron Leaf design on that that's really cool it's probably original to the house we have something with a ton of embossing here I've not sure it's wedged in I'll try to get it out it's underneath this bowl oh it's just a bull fragment Ironstone whiteware warranted Iron Stone China foreign what is this thing Colgate perfumers New York it's a tooled top foreign bottles here another bra caffeine and another foreign foreign pulling these metal pieces out let's see here it's like a bowl drugstore bottle in it yeah some broken glass part of a globe lamp some ornate painted pattern on it well nearly have this blue container out and ironically we've got some blue bottles here also I'm just gonna guess that these are bromocaffeines this was a popular product in this house it's got one two three of them those are cool little bottles and another bromo in there I think oh there it is this is some kind of a and another one wow promo caffeine so this has some kind of enameled work cup drinking cup of some sort orange and use layer and the age is getting better on the stuff you're finding uh very possibly an outhouse pit is this little drugstore bottle sticking out here oh that's an early one from J.H Montgomery and Company drug and bookstore Decorah Iowa wow a couple more bromos okay a woman's uh hair piece foreign promo huh folks knew what they liked in this household I guess hmm tooled tough drugstore bottle MP and Company foreign [Applause] liquor bottle machine made getting down towards bottom and the use layer here there's some more pieces coming out I think I recognize that blue glass oh there we go Brahma seltzer Emerson Drug Company Baltimore this one this might actually be machine made there's one over here that was just sticking out this one's okay bromo caffeine let's see I was working on a few pieces here there's one a little machine made ink this pit is really strange so the age is somewhat mixed up I think getting towards the bottom here though all right we're nearing bottom there's still some pieces coming out it's like another bromo uh bromel caffeine looks like another cold cream container and maybe another medicine let's see shoulders blown out whoa all right cobalt blue ink machine made some kind of sponge wear that's earlier another bromo and another salad dressing bottle machine made another bromo perfume bottle with a Sunburst on the bottom Tool top per possibly to that perfume bottle foreign Tool top this actually has a mark on it here made in Germany some kind of coat of arms some kind of little bowl the pit is all finished up here's the hall everything for the most part dated back to the World War One era I concluded it was a dipped Outhouse pit that had garbage thrown in it after it was out of service here's some of the dinnerware that brush in a woman's hair piece some perfume bottles light bulbs canning jar some inks that sewing machine oil a shoe polish whiskey bottles that wine surprisingly very few liquor containers all these bromo products including this large amount of bromo caffeine got these food bottles condiment containers these soda bottles the one on the left predated the pit by many years it's from the 1870s I concluded that was likely in the contents of the bottom of the pit and it was just left when the pit was cleaned out all these Square bottles they appear to be some sort of medical product I actually got one with a partial label here and it appears to be cod liver oil now I can't confirm all of them contained it although it gives us better insight and then these top bottles were all prescription drugstore bottles so there you have it look at this cleaned up and we'll get out of here [Music] foreign [Music]
