hey everyone something a bit different this week so i've started one of my hydroelectric jobs so i'm here yesterday digging this out with mini digger on my tractor tractor zealot and um stone moving stone and i've got raf here helping me and we're putting in a base for the turbine building this is going to be a really nice kilowatt hydroelectric system so yeah you can watch as it goes doing a job for another for a customer we're working away so we're trying to be efficient and trying to get as much done in a day as we can right we had a pretty decent day really we've got this um stone up to level so we're gonna now fill this in with concrete and cast a little channel down the bottom for the outlet of the turbine and then the next day we get the pipe run into it and build around that [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] let's get in there right we're getting this uh skin filled with a hand mixed concrete mix we're done yeah the mixer and we're getting this uh form concrete in so yeah getting this form concrete in that's where the turbine is cast in and that's where the water can come out yeah very good just a lot of a lot of mixing and bad access down in the bottom of the woods so it's all going to come down from the tractor all right so [Music] you can swing it swing it so he's missing that's looking nice now this [Music] it's gonna be such a nice we're on the pipe tomorrow right so we're just uh putting in some pipe while the concrete sets we got one length in yesterday should put a joiner on start pulling in some more steep ground loads this ain't easy filming these go on best if they're a bit wet it helps move uh so oh when it bites that's it that should be good don't take much stuff yeah right yeah we've got our first run that's going all the way up to the very top of the intake you see we've got some good head here 45 meters head pressure this is so we're going to be a kilowatt system here even with low flow obviously the flow is going to be higher than this in the winter it's just a triple at the moment winch set up and i start pulling the other pipe in and then we'll pull it into this coupler here and that's a 100 meters of pipe run then or out of 220 yeah midges it's hot but it's going to plan it's going well [Music] so [Music] uh should we try and move the camera to this side we'll come over that side i'll be able to get in there i'll be able to push it back without disappearing oh no oh i'm gonna have to get away okay i've almost got it here a little bit there you go can't we had to pull it up winch it up out this pond so we weren't drowning then we got it where's that i've no idea i got pissed off and i chucked it somewhere i think there is that was yeah as soon as we got out of the water it went together easy right [Music] after uh after fighting that pipe we're back to this now set up just quickly get this nice and then that's us done for the day one day [Applause] pretty good i reckon [Music] [Music] all right um we're down the bottom base is looking good still setting a bit slow because it's uh not that hot whether and we did it finished off last night it's looking good and we got the pipe down here ready to go in the trench so we just gotta connect it up to the next coupling and then there's a little length getting into here into the building and then the pipes run right we're up at the uh intake spot this is where we're gonna put our intake down and we'll be across there we've just gotta get dug out we've gotta trim some of these roots off this uh old ash tree is dead anyway yeah we're gonna dig out get a couple of sleepers across here intake across there on the pipe going a long way downhill down there should look good [Applause] [Music] so [Applause] [Music] now [Music] so [Applause] [Applause] all right so we're just joining two nice sleepers together with a v groove stuff with rope to seal it just going to august some holes through ready for threaded rod i'll try and keep them straight let's go [Music] [Music] [Music] you need to come down a bit so there you go that's it let me see i've got one in here i think yeah i'm in one i'm almost in i'm in one but no miles out the front so the middle one's going to be out in first person right i think what i need to do just go to me and let it come to me right balance it there and stay there yeah wow nice that was quite smooth actually that's the method [Music] that's good looking good i reckon yep [Applause] trim it all up nicely once we've got an intake in there [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] ah [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] hmm [Music] amazing how that blunts the saw that stuff i'm just digging out some uh chunks of clay to backfill with clay waterproofing it let's fly into there she's filling up a few holes that need pegging we do that when we do the timber frame for the turbine building get some pegs in them there she goes about to come over now rough we've got to the line anyway nice come on there we go just gotta get it sealed up now it will seal up over time with clay and sediment coming over nice this isn't finished by the way everyone this might come down a little bit tune it up and get it nice once the intake's in and obviously we're in a low flow condition in the winter this will pour over here right this is looking very good we're getting to the point where we're almost happy with that just getting it filled in a bit a few more around here and it's not leaking anywhere it's all flowing over where it's supposed to and uh pipe is just there ready to be connected in so i'll go home soon make a nice intake for here sorted looking good yeah we have more flow there all right hey everyone so uh last day on this job today for a while um so we're just going to finish off this base today we need to come up another 200 mil in stone work and get the pipe in and a few fittings in resting on the base and then i'm going to go home do a timber frame building come back and we'll uh set that on top yeah for today we just got to get this up to uh up to finish height so we can put our seal logs on concrete is set up it's all gone really well let's take this off [Music] not going to take this off for a while because um the concrete needs really a month to get to full hardness so we'll leave that on because i don't want to chip the corners off we can get rid of all this and finish our stone work so [Music] i think it would go this is the trouble it wants to go that way oh a little bit yeah we'll get this all built in and then we'll get that in the trench once it's in we can't mess with it in a minute that's all right that looks good that is looking good foreign all right we're almost done down here raff's just cleaning off uh stonework this uh started raining and um yeah we could do getting this done and getting out of it again it topped up yeah we've done a hell of a lot of work this week we've done the main bulk of the work for an entire hydro system all the groundwork all the pipes in cables in base done pipe works in the building where is it 360 meters of cable 300 meters yeah exactly yeah yeah a lot a lot of weight a lot of work and it's raining i'll say yes friday now we get this polished off we're going to get out there next time we come back we will be uh knocking a timber frame building together on top of this and cladding it and uh getting the intake connected up anyway yeah i think that's gonna be the end of this video hope you enjoyed it and thanks for watching
