#1139 Amazing Resin Butterfly Suncatcher

[Music] g'day guys welcome back i'm going to use my butterfly mold today and i'm going to try to do a sun catcher because i've never done one before but i'm going to try today so what i've done is i've tried excuse my little bad drawing i can't draw this is it here i'm going to have a chain at the top which is this one here so it will go down to the top of a butterfly wing and i'm going to use these ones that have got the pointy bottom see that one there that one there and this one here so just these three butterflies today and i'm going to do two hearts so i'm going to have the chain attached to the top of the butterfly wing and then it's going to have a heart hanging down from the center and then it'll be attached to another butterfly with a little heart hanging down from the center and then this one's going to be at the bottom um and then from this bottom bit here because it's quite a thick piece there i'm going to hang this that i found you crafty people can make your own i'm sure with you know crystals and beads and things but i saw that hanging up in the shop when i went out the other day i thought oh that will just match beautifully so my butterflies today are going to be blues picking up on these colors here blues turquoises and i'm going to throw in a little bit of purple just for fun and i found this online the other day it's uh it's like a purpley blue glitter so i'm gonna do that i thought i'd do that in one of them probably the middle one and then the top one and the bottom i thought i'd try some alcohol inks because you know you can see through them it'll kind of be like this this look here where you can you know see through them so that's what i'm going to try and do i'm not sure which purple i want to do i'm going to test the purple first because i haven't had much luck with these purples they kind of go a bit grainy so i'm just going to do a little test piece um just to see which purple will work oh look now i've dropped glitter everywhere that's why you need to have a piece of tape ready hey in case you drop glitter everywhere i've got it on my fingers alright so um yeah that's what i'm going to do oh and the other thing i want to do i'm going to just tell you what i'm going to do and then i'm going to chip off and i'm going to make up my resin i ordered these different sizes in o-rings and they come in this cute little container so what i thought i would do because i'm i don't really want to be drilling you know then you have to again people that are doing this all the time probably have all the tools you know they've got that little it's a little block thing that you put them in and then you turn it up to tighten it and then you drill on top see i don't want to do all that kind of thing so what i thought i would do is get the biggest size o-ring that i've got and i'm going to kind of just set it into the resin like that maybe when it's had a chance to sort of set up a little bit to stick it in there like that and then when i unmold it'll be set into the resin and then i just have to um put my i've got this transparent nylon thread so i'm not sure what this one is it's more like a wire i think but it's got plastic on it so i don't know what that is but anyway i thought i'd um attach some line to that and i've got some clear crystals i've got some teal tip crystals some blue and some purple and then yeah just tie them to that what do you reckon easy hey but for those of you that have got all that equipment and drills and things you might just want to you know unmold these and then drill into them and put your holes in you know with your little eyelets and things like that but i'm going to do it the easy way today so i'm going to make up some resin and we'll do this righto resin is made up here we go i made up a little bit of extra just so i could do a a little test piece to see what my purple alcohol inks are going to do so it's just the um platinum ultra clear it's a nice thin resin it doesn't hold the bubbles really easily if you have a thick resin the bubbles tend to stay a lot more but if a thin resin the bubbles disperse more so let's just move all this out of the way for now these actual crystals i didn't even know but they look exactly the same as the crystals that i've bought just got those on um on ebay on ebay they came in a little thingy like that not very good packaging but that's how they came and then the clear ones and they came like that i'm gonna have to tip them all into a little ziploc bag so i don't lose them so i'll just move everything out of the way i should have done this before shouldn't i remove it all i've got something else that i might try actually i might do each butterfly in a different thing i've got these the shaved ice did you see me when i i did the shaved ice in my droozy recently so i've got some shaved ice so i thought i'd use that with some sparkle white in one of them and then i'll do the alcohol inks in one of them i'll just take these out for now i'm going to come back and put these in in probably i don't know three hours or so once the resin is set up a bit so the sparkle in one the bluey purple sparkle in another and then the alcohol inks in another so that's what i'm going to do but i do want to just test out the um the purples can you see that there yeah can you see that i might if i put it here yeah you can see that hey yeah all right i'm just going to put a little bit of resin in there as i said i did make up a little bit of extra so that i could have do my little test piece okay now i always have trouble with one of these purples and i can't remember which it is it's going to get those bubbles if you're using a little mold with intricate things just grab yourself one of these little things don't use a huge big blow torch um even this one i find is too powerful just go with the little guy it's got like a cigarette lighter type thing on the inside and you just fill that up with butane it doesn't have a lot of heat coming through it like those big ones do and you can touch just where you need to to get rid of your bubbles all right i've got two i have to stand them up in there so they don't fall over i don't think they work as well when they've been lying down right here we go uh passion purple let's try that one so i know when i did this the other day one of them just did not work at all blue violet okay so that's the blue violet and that's the passion i'll just have a little look and see what they're going to do i'll give them a minute these ones are fine these are sapphire blue and teal i think i'm liking the color of that one better hey the purple that one's quite a it's a bluey gray even though it says passion purple ah look look see it's lost its color i was just saying how nice the color was and now it's gonski's where did it go oh where did it go that's that one blue violet do i need more maybe let's try that's three drops in that one and three drops in this one just to be the same okay and let's watch them and see what they do so that's that one all right we'll watch those now while that's happening um we'll make up and i've just got purple ink all over me just as well well i'm wearing gloves hey um now we'll put some resin in a little cup here not quite sure how much to use i need to leave some for my my butterfly but not put so much in i always add a bit more i guess if i need to but i better not use it all and then i got none left for my other one look it's done it again this one the color has just all gone from the middle it's just bizarre how it does that all right so that was three drops oh look it's leaking oh my gosh oh gosh it's leaking and this misbehaving oh my gosh oh let me wipe my hands it's not even like it was lying down it just kind of leaked everywhere look at the mess i'm making i'm going to change my gloves because i'm covered in purple ink let me get some fresh gloves out i don't know what's going on with that one so i think it obviously needs a lot more like that's quite a lot of drops in there now and it's well it's holding its color at the moment but i don't know whether it will keep an eye on it and then this color here it's it's okay um it's not a bright purple like i was hoping to get something like that it's not really like that it's more of a bluey purple and look it's breaking up again all right i'm just going to throw that one out and then i won't have issues with it anymore chucking it out there we go in the bin now i'll remember which one i used okay so i'll use those two and i'll use that one now let's have a little look-see i shouldn't put the sticks in i needed them for the oh let's get some more sticks i should have left the sticks out so i could scoop now i don't want a lot of color and things because you know you want them to be pretty transparent so that's that one and this one can be i can have a little bit more in you can you see the purpley sort of tinge in that it's kind of a purpley pink i just thought that would catch the light really pretty and i'm not sure if i wanted to like make it put a tiny little bit of purple in there just like one drop just to pick up that sort of purpley pinky hue in there but look what it's done certainly way different to that other purple but let's try it shall we otherwise it's going to be clear let's try one drop of purple the purple passion and yes you can use you know um resin tints i guess instead it's gone more of a blue in there never mind just as well i'm after a blue look hey oh my gosh look at that that looks really pretty but yeah i was thinking about using the resin tints i've got a few of those so that i want it quite clear i mean it looks darker in there because it's quite deep right um now this one is going to be let me just put the lids back on these so that's the max sparkle white oh it's flying everywhere by color passion and that was the shaved ice stampendous stampendous right and then this one is the cosmic shimmer holographic glitter that i got from craft online let's put a little bit of that in there see what two scoops does again i want it to be transparent so i don't want you know too too much going on and i don't know whether they'll float or whether they'll all sink to the bottom but that looks pretty doesn't it so you don't want so much that you can't see through it because you want the light to be able to you know come through if you've got it hanging up and you know how resin colors are like a disc colors over time it kind of goes yellow so i think it's nice to have some color in there so that it's not just clear i don't really like this one i wonder if i can that purple this has gone like a bluey greyish color let me see what else i've got um i've got this this is a it's a resin tint it was a sample that um susanna from lores sent me so let's just try one drop of that we should have used that at the beginning but see how a tint doesn't spread like an ink does but hopefully it'll give me a prettier color oh that's pretty wow it's strong isn't it that's so pretty that's that's exactly what i wanted it's much more close to to my little purple crystal okay so that's going to be one of them this is going to be the other and let me just put the lid back on and then the other one i thought i'd just drop alcohol ink in and just let it spread and do its own thing okay so how about we do that one first because i'm not sure if i've got enough to to do all the butterflies that i need i made up 240 grams of resin so hopefully it's enough um [Music] now because these two are sparkly and that one's ink i think i'll do the ink one in the middle so that's gonna be the bottom one so that can be the purple because i've got the blue butterfly hanging off that one um that one is probably the smallest one so he can be in the middle he can be the ink one and then that one there can have the blue glitter so this is the ink one yes yes all right let's do this it's taken me a while to get to this stage hasn't it so when you when you're doing little sort of intricate molds it's again it's much better to use a thinner resin uh than it is to use a thick resin because the thinner resin just flows into all your little nooks and crannies a lot easier like into your antennae here you might just have to kind of help it a little bit oh no it's gone in it has gone in well look at that so the thicker resins it doesn't always sort of flow in now because i need to put some ink on there i'm not going to overfill it but i don't mind if there's a little bit of negative space as well like i don't think i want to put too much ink on it all right let's just torch get rid of the little bubbles they're all hanging around the sides there are a few bubbles just sort of attaching themselves to the the sides there but if you're using alcohol inks you need to torch now don't torch after you've put the ink in will you it'll catch fire so just yeah if you get a torch do it now are you empty are you are you empty getting empty okay now i can't there's a couple there i can't get them i'm not going to torch anymore i don't want to burn my mold i'll just leave it all right here we go with the ink the dropping of the inks it's hard to get the lid off so blue teal and purple it's looking really dark i wonder if i can what if i can make my own alcohol ink with this one i don't really want to use that i might try that hang on don't go anywhere i just want to see if i can i'll put a little bit of because this is a tint i don't i don't think it's got alcohol in it just do a bit of a squirt like that of that one where's my alcohol yeah 99 isopropanol squirt some of that in there we go now do i have an alcohol ink in the color that i want i might do i might let's have a little look and see what it actually does come on oh it's all sunk into my stick it sunk into my stick one oh it's spreading it's doing its alcohol ink thing okay that works and a blue oh come on blue must be clogged honey i'm not having a good day today am i my gosh here we go let's stick a pin in there test it over here squeezing nothing's happening why oh my gosh nothing's happening actually that's not really spreading very much that's just more alcohol i'll just crop a piece in there we go drop there we go i don't need all of this but it's a bit hard making up a little bit isn't it okay there's that spreading better let's do some teal and i can't get the blue to come out don't know why let's push that pin down a bit further let's see if i can get it all the way must be some kind of blockage in oh oh my gosh the lid came off you don't know why it's um blocked let's try again oh okay now it's working thank goodness for that must have just been blocked i unblocked it with the the pin it's still not flowing real well but it's better than it was before i don't really want to drop ink into the antenna because it's going to um get on my mold and this ink that's touching the mold now my may stain it that's the only problem but hey it's going to happen isn't it molds aren't going to stay beautiful and clean forever now let me just [Music] put the teal there and i'm going to see if i can just drag some of this color into that antenna give it a bit of a a swirl i haven't done a lot of alcohol ink like dropping alcohol ink but i would like to to do some so i will try some at some stage let's just see what happens i don't want to put too much in it's probably too much anyway but let's just see what happens if they spread and cover and do all that kind of thing oh my gosh that was hard work shouldn't be so hard right let's move on let's do the glitter's all fell to the bottom there um now which one am i doing this one okay this one here we go oh look at that it's got the blue and the purple in it looks pretty hey and hopefully it will it's going into the antenna there you can see it's going in i'll put a little bit more in i'd like to bring it up to the top if possible so it mounds or domes domes is the correct terminology i'm not sure if that butterfly's gonna spread its wings so to speak for the colors if they'll spread we'll have to wait and see if it doesn't work then it doesn't work it doesn't matter do another one hey okay i think that one's full might even be overflowing actually let's take a bit out i might have put a bit much in you can always trim it off later if you've ended up having a bit much but i do need some for the heart as well so let's do the heart give it a good stir and do our little heart it's really pretty isn't it it's gonna really sparkle in the sun that one okay now this one again it's not as transparent as i would have liked i probably only needed half a drop of the ink but hopefully it'll still be pretty and sparkly and uh transparent hopefully it'll be transparent when i when i unmold now let's just see if those will run in on their own to all those little spots that it needs to be running into yeah that looks it's a little bit too opaque but hopefully it'll still be transparent enough and sparkle when it's in the sunshine i'm gonna need a little bit more for my heart a bit sad i've done the um the alcohol inks for the butterfly it hasn't really worked the way i was hoping it would work a little bit left i just wanted to combine the the blue and the purple together with the teal and i thought the inks would be the best way to do it but might still be all right they don't seem as if they're really spreading very much do they i don't know if they will this one's got like a skin on it maybe they just need more of like a stirring up so i don't know if they'll be transparent or not um i don't know i wonder if i've got enough to do another butterfly i don't don't really like that one let's see let's see if i've got enough to do another one hang on i'm gonna just try something here um we'll use you you're in you're a nice little shape butterfly let's just divide this and hopefully i've got enough because those inks just did not work the way i wanted them to just as well i made up a little bit of extra resin hey i always do i just you know for contingencies if something goes wrong and i needed that little test piece there so we'll do this one so we'll have one two three look at the bubbles in there yeah the bubbles all come to the middle and then they're easy to just torch okay so this one we'll use him make sure he's clean so what i'm going to do is i'm just going to put one drop of alcohol ink in there that's you might go with the lighter blue the baja or is it i don't know sapphire blue's quite dark let's go with the bayard blue one drop and this one actually might put the drop on the stick and then just dip it in and dip it out see how that goes it's quite strong yeah that's better just a quick dip of the stick in and it kept a little bit of the color because it's not very much in there it's like a quarter of a cup although i don't know if you'll ever notice that you can't really see it on the stick can you it'll get stuck to the side of the cup make sure that you're still with me oh you're still with me yes i think i'm getting bored i know i'm taking a while but this is something new for me i've never done this before so i really don't know what to expect there's something in there get out a little black dot okay so there's my blue or teal there's my purple and another stick this one here there's the baja blue actually now i'm thinking that the other color would have been better because this one's quite it's similar to the other color what if i can do like half a half a drop in and out do you like that it's just getting a little bit of ink out in there just dip it in and then straight back out again but now i need another stick all right let's see if that's any better because i don't want to make it too dark but i just it kind of lost its blue it was more of a teal and i've already got teal okay i'm thinking about actually see that color i might need a touch more of that one because they look darker when they're in the cup because it's deeper but once it goes out onto the actual mold it might not look that that dark all right i'm just going to do this you guys let's just do this all right so i'm going to just put a little bit in same as i would like with alcohol inks just sort of pop some in there this one looks more teal than blue oh my gosh what can i do what can i do i don't really want to put it in if it's too teal hang on again hang on again um i'm going to add just a tiny little bit of this blue tint actually that looks green that's green that's what i want oh dropping things okay this is the larez blue one little drop see if we can change it from teal to blue nope we've got dark teal oh gosh that's even worse oh no what can i do now all right here we go some purple in that made it worse that's just gone to like dark teal i don't have any left no more resin left i do these little test pieces with the inks like on a piece of paper and it shows one color and then you put them in mix them in with resin and then they change totally different color now i've got a little bit of glitter in that one left i'm gonna try i'm gonna try another blue um what do you think yeah let's try another little blue i've got this one it's called ocean resin tint by color passion i'm just going to pop a little drop in there one little drop and see how we go with that yes we're getting a blue it has unfortunately got some um sparkle in there but what can you do it's all right let's just mix a bit of that in there like so and a little bit more of this pinky purple and i think the colors will all kind of blend anyway i've lost the lost that sort of turquoise color no i think that's pretty full actually let's just drag some of that through into the antenna and 10a give it a bit of a swirl i don't want to blend the colors totally obviously i think i've gone over there over the top overfilled you yes i did that's no good take a bit out all right well i think those three look really pretty not so much of the blue kind of lost the blue i think you can see all those bubbles there on top come on are you gonna work use the other one look how easy those bubbles pop and you can get just in the middle where you want them you know you don't have to worry about going onto your mold okay i think that's done i've gone over a little bit here overfilled it a little bit i think i just have to do some little touch-ups and hopefully those colors will kind of blend a little bit i didn't really want the sparkle in that one but tis what it is it's not bad for a first try is it i think that one looks better than this one and i'll unmold it anyway and see if if i can use that one but that one looks quite dark um in comparison like this one you'll be able to see the sun shining through so yay all right i'm gonna get this mess cleaned up and um then i'm gonna come back in maybe three hours four hours um and then we'll put the little o-rings in hey so i'll see you then hey guys i'm back it's been a few hours i've been out and got my groceries done so yay and um like you can touch them they're not sticky anymore so i'm hoping i haven't left it too late this one yeah and it's blended a little bit but i guess we'll see what happens i think i'm going to put the rings in anyway just in case i decide to use this one look at this look the purple's come back isn't that bizarre like it had gone and now it's back and then this other purple has got like this brown ring around it so yeah just just weird i don't know what's going on with inks right let's see what we can do i'm going to go with the these large ones i don't know whether they both are the same size there there probably are those are the same those are the same cute little container i love it i love little containers all right let's get a few out so they're closed jump rings you could twist them open if you needed to okay now it's going to be a bit tricky isn't it maybe i need my tweezers and i'm going to put it whole side down like where the gap is put that down all right here we go oh it's going in look at that so i just wanted to stand up in there i might not need these it's not like i'm going to touch the resin is it trying not to push it in until it touches the bottom i don't have to worry about these because they've got the little nibs there that will you know there'll be holes there when i unmold all right so this is the one that's going to be on the bottom so i'd need one in there in the abdomen there's head thorax abdomen doesn't it if i can remember my biology from school just got to be careful i mean it's it's still soft the resin but it said staying up so hopefully that's good just touch the side there sometimes if you heat the side it kind of melts back over the top i feel like i'm pissing someone's earrings is all right so this one can go there and there it's thick enough that um the resin is staying like in its shape it's not it's not that soft oh i just put my finger in that one let's melt it back again it's a good thing about resin like if you do put a fingerprint or a mark on it you can just heat it up and it kind of melts back together again but you just have to be careful of your silicone obviously your mold i didn't realize i was sticking my finger in that one why don't you tell me all right so these are standing up that's standing up i will just come back and check them like in half an hour just to make sure that nobody's fallen over um okay so oh you need top and bottom don't you just put the little gap down so that we don't see it i don't know if this is going to work or not but i thought well just give it a go hey if i had tools you know all set up then i would certainly do it but i've got to go up to the man shed and get the tools and they're dirty and dusty and covered in oil and there's spiders and then i'm going to carry it all the way down here to my studio and set it up but yeah like i said if i was doing it all the time i could probably buy my own stuff all right so that one's got two there too there um oh i need one in the middle don't i to hang the heart from okay and you only need those two and that one because that's the main bottom ones not having anything joining there but yes i do need to pop one in here push that in and that will have one of the hearts probably that one dangling from it um and then i'll do both of these too feel free to fast forward i'm going to do this one as well just in case it works i have to see what it looks like when it's actually demolded whether or not the colors work nicely or whether that's too opaque i don't know what it's going to do yet i don't think it matters if my little o-rings are facing that way and that way i don't think it's going to matter because the wire or the cord or whatever you're using it's just going to hook through the bottom so it's not really going to matter which way it's the little rings are facing and you'll have a heart if i end up using you and you'll have a heart i'm trying to hurry but yeah just fast forward if you don't want to watch me do this but i will come back like i said and check it in half an hour or so make sure that nothing's fallen over but yeah it's good to wait until your resins pretty much set up but obviously soft enough that you can still push them in you just don't want them to flop over if it's too too wet still they'll just flop over and then you've got a terrible mess haven't you trying to pick them out if they've fallen down into the resin it's kind of like putting on you know your tray handles when you're doing your um your trays stick your handles in while it's still wet these ones are falling over a bit all right i'll leave it there have i remembered everybody let me go back to my little photo here one of my little photo my little drawing um one of these one of these will be the the top so i've got hooks at the top hooks at the bottom hooks in the middle top bottom middle and then the middle one needs the top and the bottom and the middle and then the bottom one up the bottom one just needs the top and the middle okay good we're good to go all right so they're falling over a little bit like i said i'm just going to come back and check on them every half an hour or so make sure everyone's not falling over um and then i won't sh i won't bother showing you that and then um we'll unmold tomorrow hey i better go and start making up some little lines of nylon so i can start beading hey all right i don't think you want to see that you know how to bleed you know how to thread beads all right i'll see you in the morning anyway for the unmolding right oh it's the next day they're all set i'm keen to see what this one's going to look like um this was the only one that sort of half fell over the others all pretty much stayed upright so that was good but i want to see if um this one's actually going to remain transparent because i do i do like the colors i just not quite sure if it's going to work as a sun catcher this one it's out and hopefully nothing stained my mold looks like it's just a bit of resin over the top but sometimes the inks can stain them all right so there it is i don't know you guys not sure how i feel about it i guess i'll have to wait and see what it looks like in the sun but these have stayed in place nicely so that's good hey easy to tie the little crystals on i made these oh picked up the wrong end let me pick up the wrong end i made these yesterday i just tied them off on some of that fishing line and i left enough space at the bottom there to um to tie it to the next butterfly so i kind of had a length of my string and then those in the middle so i had enough room at the top and enough room at the bottom to tie off from the above butterfly and the below butterfly so let's have a look at the little heart get them out they should come out nice and easily oh look you can see through them yay oh look at that look at that sparkle isn't that pretty see most of the sparkles sunk to the bottom which it normally does that's so pretty see how it picks up the the blues and the turquoises in there let's get the next one out these are my favorites i love this and again picks up all those little blues and turquoises and pinks and purples and just so pretty this is my favorite butterfly get him out when i made this mould i did make sure that i made the antenna wide enough you know so that wasn't going to break obviously when we took it out of the mold because there's nothing worse than having these bits here you know too thin and then they they snap so really nice and transparent on that one very very sparkly you can just imagine what that's going to look like up in the the light with the sun shining through it so beautiful that one get this one out too there we go easy peasy lemon squeezy and this is the one that i was kind of hoping would be a little bit more transparent you know like that one with just a hint of of pink but i think i put a little bit much in it but you can still see that sparkle so again it's going to really shimmer it's picking up all different colors it's going to really shimmer when it's up in someone's window now this one the blue-ish that i couldn't get the blue teal color doesn't matter what i use like blue it always turns teal it's just bizarre so it looks much more blue i guess in that one and actually through my screen it does look more blue than teal we've got a little hint of hint of purple on it so i think these three do sort of match better than than this one so fling out you go so these ones all right so now i have to work out how i'm going to put them together let me just move my mold out of the way you did good little mold very proud of you let's put you over here whoops whoops sticking to you again all right so um i think we'll have that one in the middle and [Music] um might have like that because this is going on the bottom so we'll have like more solid color than a pinky purple than a sprinkle color and then a more solid color down the bottom and then of course these are going to be hung i don't know i don't know that i can oh actually no this one has to go on the bottom doesn't it yeah no yes yes yes it has to go on the bottom oh well that's because i was i didn't put those little things in this one remember this one was going to be on the bottom so it's just going to have to be like that okay i would have preferred it to be you know blue purple blue but anyway now let me see how am i going to do this i'm not a bead person i've never really done anything with beads so this one's going to be easy enough to do all i'm going to do is just hook it through there and then i'm going to get my little pair of pliers hang on i'll go and get it a little pair of pliers so all i'm going to do is actually this might not be big enough this little pair of pliers oops i might have to get my bigger pair of pliers oh goodness all right i have to get the bigger ones hang on these little ones don't have um a grip in there so for this big thing i guess i'd better do the bigger piece and all i want to do is just gently squeeze that closed like so okay so that's on there woohoo my first piece okay so that's that one done put him there oh it's got glitter on i just noticed they've got glitter on them now what do i do with these bits um see now this one has to join to the top of that one whoops don't fall off i never know which is the top and which is the bottom okay you're the top all right so what i'm going to do is i'll just do one because you don't need to watch me thread all of them it's going to do that again i'm not sure exactly how much it's really hard to get them like even when you're tying them off by hand um i might just do maybe in an inch not really whatever whatever happens happens like it's not it's not going to be easy i don't think that's really hard well for me anyway working with fishing line get in there because i can't see it very well and it's very thin and fiddly there we go i got a knot i did one knot there we go all right so and then of course there's a little bit of line on the end of this one for me to attach to the other one but i'm going to do another knot poke it through the hole like so [Music] so fine you can hardly even see it where's it going now okay there we go there's another knot all right two knots yay i've got one attached all right let me do the others um and i'll come back to you because you don't want to see me struggle with that because i'm not i'm not sitting close enough to it because i'm like standing up right i'll be back hang on i've got one of my little jump rings same ones that i used here i just opened it and i put it through there if i just put this string through it would hang that way and i wanted it to hang that way so i've done that and that's going to hang down there from the blue one and then this one can hang down from that one so i've got my little bit of string again or nylon and i'm going to pop it through there such fiddly work and then i've just stumbled over my my thread and then i thought i could just do that and then just do one knot you know if you can see i've threaded it through that one as well get my two ends and then work out where i want it to kind of sit whoops that's fallen through yeah i guess the only problem is i didn't close that enough with my pliers i'll have to have another go at it i'm closing it hang on put you down for a second i have to close it a bit better right that one's attached to there these are attached now i've got to do these two here which is these two now which is the top and which is the bottom when you buy these little beads or crystals you can search one hole or two holes this one's got two so i've threaded the line through each if you only get well this one here it's also got the the two but they've only threaded it through one hole so it sits differently they sit like on top of each other like that but with this one i've just threaded them through each hole but yeah when you search you can search one hole or two hole and decide what you want to do right so and then i've just tied off the bottom there so it wouldn't slip down any further like that but i've still got that little bit of tail left to attach it to the next butterfly all right so here we go thread through here i must say i should have got this this line whatever this is it kind of looks like a wire line and i think it might have like a plastic over it because this nylon is so difficult to work with well for me anyway and i'm standing up here so i can't really see properly if i was doing it just for me i would be sitting down i guess but um anyway i'm gonna struggle with that i'm gonna do those two up and i'll be back so i'm done finally done attached everything so i hope i've got some sun out there today it's a bit overcast it's been raining but let's take it outside i know you can't see the whole thing right now but um let's take it outside and um i'll hang it up somewhere all right see the finished results in a sec so here we are outside i've hung it to the beam on my back deck it's not a very bright day today it's a bit overcast so we're not getting a lot of sunshine and of course i'm filming into the light rather than having the light behind me which isn't ideal but um do the best i can here with the photography it's really pretty i'm really happy with the way it's turned out ideally would have liked these couple to be a little bit more transparent but i think it's pretty good for my first attempt just climb down my ladder a bit here that sparkle it's so pretty so um yeah if you'd like one of these molds the butterfly mold it's in my ebay store the link is in this description for the video grab yourself one so much fun to make show me what you've done with it i'd love to see your creations maybe you've got a different idea maybe it's not a sun catcher maybe you've got something else in mind that you'd like to do with it i'm just going to zoom out a little bit
