now if you're thinking about going to your very first motorcycle rally or maybe you've been going to rallies for decades and you've been to hundreds of them at this point this video is going to apply to all of you guys because today I'm going to tell you 11 things you really need to know when you go to a motorcycle rally this is going to include the things you will see this will include the things you should avoid and how to prepare for these and at the end I'm just going to Simply tell you whether I think motorcycle rally are worth going to or not now if you like what I do consider subscribing you could also join us on patreon or join the channel right here gain access to some pretty cool perks and it starts at like three bucks a month uh so it really helps the channel and also check the description where I now have certain links and some discount codes set up for you guys um you can find everything there either through the links in the description or one link uh through my link tree and again all of that is in the description and I've made it super easy for you guys so without further Ado let's go and get into it now first let's talk about my rally experience I have not been to hundreds of these okay I've been to Myrtle Beach a couple of times maybe three times now uh been to Daytona once I actually just got back from that one and that was probably the biggest one I've been to and I plan on going to sturis later on this year now maybe something happens at sturis that completely changes my perspective of course I will be sharing tons of videos out there when that comes along but I think Daytona was a pretty good example of what to expect on a bigger scale rallies like Myrtle Beach uh where they're smaller they're more Compact and so what I mean by that is you have a good amount of people there I don't even know how many people uh Myrtle Beach actually attracts I'll make sure I leave that number up here uh so we can get an idea uh but it's not nearly as much as something like Daytona or of course sturis and some of the other bigger ones uh but you still feel like there is a ton of people there because when you go to some of these places like the suck bang blow and the Beaver Bar specifically these are smaller joints and they fit a bunch of people in there so may not be as many people but trust me it will feel like a ton of people at these smaller rallies and then when I went to Daytona I I mean it was on an even bigger scale so now we have a lot more room Destination Daytona specifically you have tons of vendors so if you're looking at new motorcycle parts and you you know you want to try before you buy this is the way to do it because they're going to have demos set up for you you get to see these things up close and let's be honest man a lot of the times you look at something online and you're like man I think I would really like that but then when you actually get that product it Mak may or may not uh be up to the standards that you were hoping and let's be honest about this too motorcycle parts and accessories are expensive really no matter what you ride so it's a good way to get hands- on with the vendors talk to the vendors sometimes you may uh you know get a really good feeling about a product that you were kind of sketched about before or maybe the opposite happens or it could also solidify how you feel about a certain company and the people that represent them pipes is another huge one right you're going to see Ryan Hart you're going to see Vance and Hines you're going to see tab you know all of these guys and then you can really hear them now I do the best I can whenever I do a uh you know a pipe video or you know a full exhaust video to get the sound as clean as I can but to be quite honest with you there is no way of really knowing what that bike is going to sound like unless you were right there and a rally is a great place to hear this stuff expect there to be a bunch of vendors and get a feel of some of these products that maybe you've been looking at um and you know talk to these guys see what you think about them uh and don't jump on the first thing that you see sometimes you'll come across um you know uh let's say sea cushions or or you'll come across maybe helmets or any number of accessories and there could be somebody that's literally a couple of tents down or the next row down that's selling that item for maybe cheaper or it might even be better quality so I would recommend don't ever jump on the first thing I'd also recommend if you buy something when you first get there you know ask them to hold it and then that way when you come back through you can grab that item instead of carrying around all of the stuff for the the entire time that you're at you know let's just say Destination Daytona or wherever you may end up whether that's the speedway Destination Daytona wherever when you're buying stuff if you can help it ask them to to hold it or if you don't have room in your bike you could always ask them to ship that item as well but you don't want to be carrying around a bunch of stuff especially when you first get there another thing to expect is very similar to the fair or Disney World or Universal or whatever uh when you go there the food and the drinks is going to be very expensive I mean you're talking like $10 for a bottle of water and it gets hot so depending upon the time of the year of course uh especially in Florida South Carolina and the Southern States you know like I said man you know $10 will feel like a drop in the bucket sometimes if you don't have water or something with you uh so that's why it's a good idea to bring your own but instead of carrying bottles which is what I normally do and I put them in the saddle bags and then the water ends up being so hot it's pretty much undrinkable uh getting a good Yeti cup or alternative that will seal the water of course you don't want to have something with just a a pop open lid but you want something to seal it but then you could put it in there get it away from your exhaust if you can help it so if you have a Tor pack or a bag on the back of your motorcycle uh maybe sticking it in there would be the best bet but if you only have saddle back or whatever you have uh just keep in mind that it may warm up quicker but at the same time it's going to be heck of a lot cooler than just throwing water bottles in your bags but this is stuff that I would recommend bringing of course food is kind of one of those things man if if you go hungry you're probably going to eat and you're probably going to be spending quite a bit of money to eat their food so if you've ever been to the Fair carnival just expect the prices to be very similar to that another thing to expect is to see motorcycle clubs now this may be a big deterrent for some people that have never been to rallies in general and if you've I don't know looked up any number of videos uh for the most part to be honest with you there are a ton of people in these rallies and very rarely will you find a lot of fighting between bikers it does happen I'm not saying it doesn't um but it's just a part of it and of course motorcycle clubs will be there uh but the biggest thing is just avoid them you know what I mean like um I'm not saying that you can't talk to any of them and I'm not saying oh God there's one of those biker clubs hey get inside honey you know blah blah blah and start running away from them what I am saying though is if you are looking for a confrontation if you're looking to get into a fight go ahead I mean you do that at your own Peril but generally speaking I've never had anybody from Club come up to me and said you know hey man you know you you're a piece of I hate your videos and blah blah blah or whatever you know and start fighting with people but for the most part they are there to enjoy the same things that you enjoy the only difference is they're a part of a club there's a really good song that kind of sums all this up don't start no won't be no sh so there you go another thing that you want to keep in mind and this is nothing against any of these people because this stuff SS but expect for pretty girls to come up to you and try to sell you stuff this is it's just the way it is okay um I think there was you know the one I can think of specifically a Daytona was law Tigers okay so if you don't like being sold stuff you know there you go I mean I don't really like being sold anything uh but at the same time you have to expect that there will be people that approach you um and sometimes they they use what they have to sell you what they got so there you go uh if you know what I'm saying you you you kind of get my drift there but just expect that stuff just expect that people hey man you know hey I noticed that you uh I don't know need a new t-shirt or you know uh t-shirt apparel will get to all that stuff but yeah just expect to you know be approached by some people uh but for the most part from what I've seen anyways is that unless you approach most of the vendors they're not going to really come looking for you it's not like uh like carnival rides where they're trying to get you to sign up you know three darts for a dollar but there will be some that actually approach you so just kind of expect it and just go with the flow I mean there's really nothing to get upset about um especially some of the salespeople uh it's it's definitely nothing to really get upset about so I think that leads us perfectly into the clothing the shirts the apparel I mean it is absolutely everywhere and again I will say don't buy at the very first place you come across now I typically love Harley-Davidson gear it's just I just like it a lot uh so that's where I ended up buying from is uh Teddy Morris's Harley-Davidson and they of course they have their own apparel they sell all year long uh but then they also have the bike week stuff as well and yes you're going to pay more uh for stuff inside of the Harley dealer typically the little outlets and stuff um they may all kind of have the same general design you know one of my friends actually told me that he bought shirts in like 2022 and in 2023 or this year it was the same shirt with just the uh with just the year that was changed on it so uh you know you may see that as well but typically you're going to get better deals at the little Outlets the quality of the shirts may or may not be as good as something you would find inside of the actual Harley dealers so that's always an option I know in Teddy Morris's uh Harley dealer you know they had some apparel and stuff that they sell all year long downstairs but then upstairs is where they had the whole collection of older motorcycles which was really freaking awesome they had a statue of Elvis with his Harley it was really cool and then they had their bike week shirts uh and stuff like that on the other side the opposite side of where the bikes were so t-shirts are abundant and you will find them at the speedway you'll find them you'll find them pretty much Everywhere You Go Orlando Harley has their own shirts as well so uh no matter where you go at bike week at one of the stops no matter if it's Daytona or Myrtle Beach or whatever you are going to have a ton of t-shirt options you're probably going to have some sales I really doubt that most people leave these rallies and don't have at least one or two T-shirts that's just the reality of it I would just say pay attention to the quality of these shirts um and really you may have to pay a little bit extra especially at the Harley dealers but I just tend to find their shirts hold up better over time but t-shirts are abundant and you will find a lot of them at bike weeks let's talk about parking so this is going to be one of those things you're going going to run into no matter how long you're at one of these events one of these rallies uh is parking you're going to be really close to other motorcycles and depending upon the time of day that you go it's either going to be busy really busy or crazy busy so typically going early in the morning you're going to be able to find parking spots relatively easily there's going to be some bikes there no matter where you go but at the same time you're going to be able to get in and out pretty easily if you go midafternoon or let's say high noon or closer in the evening time um you may be parking a mile or two away from the actual event that you're going to so you really want to keep that in mind if you don't want to do a bunch of walking you know you may want to uh come earlier in the day so you can get closer to the event now I know at Daytona they actually had uh guys that were driving around on carts and stuff uh so that may be a good option for you just make sure you have some cash because those guys work for tips um and so you know they go up and down and you know carry people back and forth too so there you go just expect to do a lot of walking but you can minimize that by showing up early and you know just like I said parking next to people leaving enough space in between you and the other motorcycles as much as you can within reason and you'll be just fine but the earlier you show up typically will be the better and less walking that you have to do another quick tip here is make sure you bring sunscreen you may think oh it's you know early March in in Florida or it's October in Florida you know and it's going to be just fine you know blah blah blah well just so you know the top of my head got seriously burnt when I went down to Daytona this past week or two and so I'm telling you uh just for your own good make sure you bring some kind of sunscreen whether it's spray on or but whatever the case may be make sure you bring some of that because you will get burned that's a fact another thing that I got to talk about here is the police so there will be heavy police presence there will be uh police presence along your route you know you know while you're in Myrtle Beach or you're in Daytona or I'm sure Sturgis is the same way there's going to be police there and so while it does seem like the best time to kind of you know while out and you know just you know get on the throttle and all that kind of stuff which is what we all kind of want to do uh there's going to be certain places that you will learn you really don't want to do that kind of stuff you want to tame it down just a little bit you're going to hear people blipping the throttle and all that kind of stuff you're going to hear really loud radios and all that stuff you can hear them from 10 miles away and all that but aggressive riding and just you know wheelies and doing things that are going to bring attention to you I would say stay away from in certain areas and you'll start to kind of see where uh the heaviest police presence is but the nice part about that is some of these rallies or all of the ones I think that I've been to they actually have certain shows and stuff that they will put on where you know guys are doing wheelies they doing jumps and all kind of really cool stuff so you get that type of entertainment there but you yourself I would just say be aware where that police presence is going to be a little bit higher than what it normally would be another thing that I want to talk about don't expect to run into a ton of fights now you may think well you know you get all these people together there's going to be fighting and God forbid there's going to be somebody brings out a gun and arguments and then there's Club aspect of it and there's going to be different clubs there and oh God man this is just this doesn't even seem worth it but maybe I had just hav been to enough and I I'm not naive enough to think that this stuff doesn't happen sometimes but it doesn't happen as much as you may think I mean seeing fights and all that kind of stuff is actually pretty rare now I'm not necessarily a night owl so when I'm out it's typically during the day um and it may go off into the sunset a little bit but you know when it's late at night and stuff that's just just not my scene I guess you know so it may be different at night time and those of you that love going at nighttime maybe maybe you have a different experience than what I do so that's that is a fair part of the argument that I just really don't know about like I said once it gets nighttime I'm pretty much out of there I've done everything that I wanted to do um at that specific event or everything I've wanted to do for that day so uh what I've seen going in the daytime early in the morning afternoon and even off into the dark a little bit or off to you know the beginning of the night it's not a ton of people fighting it's just mainly people having a really good time uh which is one of the great Parts about rallies in general and the last thing you should expect when you go to motorcycle rallies is no biker wave which is really kind of crazy I remember the very first rally I ever went to this was a few years ago and you know I was waving I waving to everybody you I was putting two fingers down whatever and I noticed nobody was returning the favor and then I realized by the end of this trip if I keep doing this uh my freaking hand is going to get tired I mean my arm is going to get you know just destroyed and so this the biker wave really only applies whenever they outside of those rallies so normal just daytoday whether that's commuting or whatever the case may be and I you know I personally like waving other bikers I think it's kind of a a sign of respect but at the same time when you go to rallies do not expect for people to be returned in the favor if if you want to wave to every single Rider that comes by go for it but I would not expect to get that in return and the biggest thing man is just expect to have fun it really is a great time getting around people that are just as enthusiastic about motorcycles as you seeing all the new gear and all the new motorcycle accessories that are out catching up with old friends catch you know and making new ones at the same time uh really I I don't know man that you know the gun Community which I'm a big part of it as well is AB absolutely fantastic the motorcycle Community is just one of the best and so I would definitely say go to them have a good time and don't expect anything except to have a lot of fun and meet a lot of great people there you go man there's my opinion let me know your opinion again no matter if you're brand new to this and maybe things that you're like hesitant about or you've been doing this for decades I love to hear from you guys and
