[Music] east java is one of the most beautiful diverse and breathtaking regions in all of indonesia i was lucky enough to travel around east java all the way from banuwangi to malang city checking out the region's best beaches waterfalls volcanoes and deserted islands for this video i want to share with you my top 11 highlights from two weeks in east java with the hope that this video will help you to see the beauty of this region and help you plan your trip let's start with one of the most unique beaches in east java the wonderful papua beach we found it a little challenging to get to and we could not find any available accommodation in the area so ended up staying in jimber instead but this is one spectacular beach and stretch of coastline we had so many wow moments when driving down the very steep hill to the beach and seeing the hundreds of colorful fishing boats across the bay it was also right on the beach at a small local world that we had one of the best meals of our trip we were welcomed in by the lady running the stall brought into her kitchen and were able to choose whatever we desired for a seafood feast we both went for local lobster and the entire meal cost us only fifty thousand rupiah which is about three euro this is the perfect place to come on a day trip from gember or just to stop off for two hours while making your way to koban cebu waterfall for me i think the highlight of my entire time in east java was seeing the sunrise over mount bromo from king kong hill as well as just being mesmerized by an entire bromo sumeru national park as we were coming from malang we actually drove the entire way around this park and through the famous and slightly frightening sea of sand to get to our guest house in guenong bromo my friend jeanette and i almost fell off our scooters so many times and were exhausted by the time we made it out of the sand and onto a proper road if you're not confident driving a bike may be better to get a driver or sign up for a jeep tour that said driving through the sand at the base of bromo at sunset with many locals and jeeps and fellow tourists passing us by and waving with delight was a pretty special experience although it wasn't quite as amazing as the views from the top of king kong hill at sunrise these views looking at bromo and mount samara in the distance were views i will never forget although there are literally hundreds maybe even thousands of waterfalls all over the island of java i would happily argue that koben sebu waterfall is the most spectacular and quite possibly one of the best waterfalls in all of indonesia we were sure to check it out from every viewpoint possible but was only when we saw the views of this unique waterfall from the drone that we realized how unique it really is looking like the tree of life from the air we were a little too nervous to walk down to the base something i now regret so next time i'm in east java i'll return and 100 climb down if you were looking for somewhere cool to go before reaching kobensu waterfall i recommend taking a short detour off the main road to visit desa oro oro ombo viewpoint if you're lucky and it's a clear day with few clouds this is one of the best viewpoints of mount camaro in all of east java unfortunately we didn't get lucky but even driving through local villages and down narrow roads winding their way through the expanse of rice fields was worth the detour off the main road believe it or not one of my main reasons for wanting to do this trip to east java was to visit the famous jodypan rainbow village in malang city i had seen photos and videos and instagram posts of this colorful neighborhood for many years and had always been high up on my indonesia bucket list i was a little worried it would not be as cool as i had imagined but it ended up being larger and even more colorful and fun to walk around than i could ever have dreamed of i loved the area that was all painted blue as well and learning about the story behind the rainbow village and how painting it bright colors and turning it into a tourist attraction actually saved the place and created income and opportunity for the residents was really cool to hear another super colorful place that we visited and loved was the dira hotel and deer theme parks to be found close to the city of gember these were not part of the plan and after seeing a giant billboard advertising deera park on our way to papua beach we decided to take a detour and check it out and we were not disappointed deera park is kind of hard to explain it's kind of like a very bright colorful theme park but without the actual rights there's a cafe there's a swimming pool an arcade a shopping mall a themed food court and lots of fake colorful buildings that either represent houses cities or tourist attractions in other countries we then found out about deer hotel over an hour away but owned by the same company and it was the coolest most colorful fun hotel we stayed in all of east java and the price of the accommodation included free admittance to their water park and their nightly theme park london festival type place no trip to east java would be complete without hiking up mount egen and into the spectacular e-gen crater famous for its turquoise blue lake and world's only blue flames which are only visible down inside this toxic crater before sunrise egen crater was one of the most incredible places we visited on our trip in fact i loved hiking up and watching the sunrise over the spectacular crater so much that i'll probably go back again in a few months time you must set off at about three in the morning when the park officially opens and hike for an hour or more to get to the top if you get up there fast you can hake you can hike down into the crater to see the famous blue fire otherwise make your way around the rim to watch one of the world's most surreal sunrises just an hour or so from banuwangi and probably one of the first places you will pass through if touring java from bali is the mystical dijotan forest this place gives you major harry potter and lord of the rings vibes and many people who have visited compare these tree tunnels to the dark hedges in northern ireland a game of thrones filming location it's a fun and beautiful shaded woodland area and it's great to walk around for an hour or so and very popular photo shoot especially for newlyweds there's a cute cafe and also many decorated horses and carriages should that be your cup of tea jaguar waterfall is a must visit waterfall in banuwangi and the perfect place to cool down after a strenuous morning hiking egen crater there are actually two waterfalls in one complex and one is unique in that there's a natural swimming pool at the base and you can easily and safely go amenity it seems popular with both local and international tourists and is super easy and accessible to visit and located in a beautiful local village about one hour from banyuen for something a little different and fun for all the family a visit to museum and coot in batu city is a must when i told my friend we would be visiting asia's largest transport museum she didn't seem too impressed little worried to know our afternoon at museum ankut would turn out to be one of the highlights of our entire east java trip yes it is a transport museum but oh boy is it so much more than that think endless photo opportunities helicopters and airplanes and limousines that you can climb into and pose in fancy dress and costume opportunities as well as entire parts of cities around the world recreated there's even a gangster down street and an exact replica of buckingham palace it's a mad place and be prepared to dedicate at least three hours to wandering around as it goes on and on and on forever the last place we visited in east java before taking the ferry back to bali was a small deserted sand bar called taboo han island it's totally uninhabited and to get there you must pay a local boat owner on a beach outside of banuwangi to take you over there's not a whole lot to do except chilling out sunbathing swimming and snorkeling in the pristine water and nearby reefs the water is this crazy shade of blue the sand is very white and very fine and there's just something special about having your own private island for the day a must visit in east java and the perfect place to end our magical trip so that's it guys my pick of the top 11 places to visit in east java hope you found this video helpful and hope it has sparked your interest in
