Tokyo vlog Day 1: Ness Museum and shopping in Aoyama good morning from tokyo! Today Zozoji temple is full of people This trip we'll revisit some of our favourites and explore new spots This is day 1 of our Tokyo trip and we're about to head off to our favourite coffee shop Passage coffee Today we're going to a museum in the heart of Aoyama Nezu Museum I was more interested in the architecture/gardens than the art itself 😂 I also wanted to check out the cafe The queue was long- it's also Culture Day which is a public holiday :S We waited an hour because I wanted the bar seat Strawberry shortcake Highly recommend visiting Nezu for the gardens and the cafe! Check out this cool cardcase from Cos: Victor's first purchase: We went to Le Labo to try their Tokyo exclusive scent: Gaiac 10 Customizing the label on his bottle There's a couple of homeware/lifestyle shops I want to check out here: Encounter Madu Aoyama I regret not buying anything here There were so many beautiful ceramics I wanted I told myself I'd be back before our trip ended But we didn't have time :( These soup bowlssss Just down the road is another cool lifestyle store: Spiral Market Here you can find anything from homeware to stationary Time for dinner: Ginza Kagari Roppongi Hills Our friend recommended this spot to us! creamy chicken ramen Day 2: Garden Suite and New York Jazz Bar Spent the whole day at the hotel working on the vlog We're now moving to a different room in the hotel: This is the Japanese Garden Suite It also has a stunning view of the Tokyo Tower! TORISHIBA Yakitori Time for dinner: We're off to the Park Hyatt Tokyo to enjoy a little bit of jazz With my new 'Bottega Veneta' Aka his Cos bag These circular windows above Lawson caught my eye The weekend queue for jazz: New York Bar New York cheesecake / kogyoku apple pie with caramel ice cream Day 3: curry and vintage in Shimokitazawa It's a beautiful Sunday here in Tokyo So we're going to head off to Shimokitazawa for some curry and vintage shopping On my Tokyo Wishlist this time, I would like to get a vintage rugby shirt Something in wine or dark brown (ideally an accessory) And something silver or chrome-colour for the festive season For me I'm trying to get a pair of sneakers It's the classic Converse but it's called 'Converse Addict' Better sole for walking and more comfortable And maybe some more Polo Ralph Lauren shirts First we're getting a ticket for a restaurant so we can shop while we wait Found some rugby shirts but not in the right color combo: Guess who ended up with something haha We got a notification that our table was ready: 202 Curry Dou Laura recommended this soup curry shop to me: Coconut chicken curry soup, bone-in tomato curry soup Creme caramel pudding Matcha Basque cheesecake I would skip the coffee :S Post Coffee Stumbled on this new cafe in the Shimokitazawa area Hoping to find some vintage gems now! Meadow by Flamingo An offshoot store by Flamingo that carries a curated selection of vintage Stuff is a bit pricier but it's all colour coordinated Victor= 5 pieces Sam= 0 Itasoba Kaoriya Ebisu cold soba board with tempura Taking the bus back for the first time Day 4: Christmas Lights and Cozy Omakase for dinner Today we're moving to the Shibuya area: Sequence Miyashita Park Check-in is strangely at 5pm so we left our luggage at the hotel Freak's Store Shibuya Decided to explore all the shops nearby Beams Men Shibuya There's a Polo x Beams unisex collaboration We copped the cardigan and sweater Today is the official day for the Roppongi Hills Blue illumination We waited around to catch the first glimpse of the blue lights But it was delayed and we had a dinner reservation XD So they said the illumination was going to start around 5pm But it's around 5:30pm now and they said another 30 minutes so we're gonna head over for our omakase dinner And then come back to see the lights This is a new omakase restaurant that opened only 6 months ago Sushi Ryuta semi-fatty tuna sushi We made a reservation 2 weeks ahead It was about ¥15,000 per person We were the only foreigners there and the table next to us started chatting with us Victor: "how new is the restaurant?" Chef: "only 6 months" Victor saw another table order sake so he copied them haha Would highly recommend this spot for omakase after shopping! Now we're heading back for the Christmas illumination Roppongi Hills Christmas Illumination The lights are officially on! Tokyo always has the best Christmas illuminations: Checked in and went to bed right away 🥱 Day 5: hotel room tour and Victor goes shopping Let me give you a quick hotel room tour: I've always wanted to stay here but there's a lot of mixed reviews on Google Pro: amazing location and nicely designed rooms Cons: it's right above the train station so it's quite loud and there's no room cleaning if you stay less than 2 nights Hope you guys enjoyed that little room tour and now we're heading off to Harajuku Bills Today we're in the Harajuku area on the hunt for Victor's 'Converse Addicts' Ricotta hotcakes Found them in olive green ;) Union Tokyo This LA-based store has really nice interiors But they also sold out of the Converse Addicts :( Japanese brands x Converse collection White Atelier by Converse At this Converse shop you can find exclusive designs and customize your own pair of sneakers Heading back to the hotel to shop downstairs This is a pop-up that'll be here until next spring These would make good Secret Santa gifts actually! High Tide Store Hightide is a Fukuoka-based stationary store They sell a lot of colorful stationary and travel essentials Face Records On this trip we also want to find jazz records for our collection! The selection here was quite limited The yakiniku restaurant we wanted to go to was full Tonkatsu Maisen Shibuya Hikarie Unlike their main store, we rarely have to queue at this branch HARBS Crepe a la carte Ending our night with a slice of cake at my usual spot: Day 6: Yves Saint Laurent exhibit and charcoal yakiniku Today we're going to a museum and checking in to a new hotel Fuglen Tokyo Getting a quick coffee and croissant at our favourite: It's finally starting to feel like fall It's perfect weather for sitting outside Bumped into some of you guys there and we're all wearing converse lol LOST AND FOUND TOKYO STORE We stumbled on this lifestyle shop on the way to the train station Picked up a little souvenir Whenever we come to Tokyo, I always try to find a new exhibition to visit The National Art Center Tokyo This retrospective on Yves Saint Laurent is until December 11 The souvenir shop was so crowded! Most people were here to pick up a tote bag We're now checking out of Sequence Miyashita and we're heading 15 minutes over to our next hotel See you there! (It was more like a 5 minute walk haha) Room Tour The restaurant I originally wanted to get lunch at is closed today Even though Google Maps says it's open So I'm a little salty. But now we're heading to our Plan B restaurant which is an udon shop that Laura recommended to me Menchirashi Very trendy, Yardbird vibes cold ebi-ten We tried the cold soup udon and the broth was really good Anchor Wasn't expecting to find anything here but they had what I was searching for! Niko and Holy crap I'm obsessed! It's food packaging! Jellybeans! So cute! Upstairs they had an even larger homeware/plant section: They have a whole Campbell section! Look at these tote bags! Went to check out a few more record shops before dinner: Manhattan Records Mostly for hip hop and R&B Face Records Yuji (ゆうじ) This tiny restaurant serves yakiniku on traditional charcoal grills Heads up: it's really smokey inside! Intestines I recommend coming around 8pm for their second round seating The intestines were surprisingly really good hahaha Teaching us the proper way of cooking the meat We accidentally overcooked it the first time around This is our receipt! This late night dessert haul is brought to you by Lawson's I have a creme brûlée ice cream. It's Hokkaido ice cream with a creme brûlée top I got some soft-boiled eggs and chicken breast Bon appetit! So instead of a custard pudding, this one is a vanilla ice cream With a brûlée top Day 7: Daikanyama and Nakameguro Omg this new Miffy cafe!!! Ivy Place Me and Laura used to come here for girls' brunch haha Classic buttermilk pancakes with cream Ivy big breakfast combo plate Tsutaya books Daikanyama This is a good place to plan our next Japan trip haha Saturdays NYC Victor picked up a pair of trousers here Kinto Store Tokyo If you're looking for souvenirs, the flagship store is in Nakameguro! Visvim This could be the most beautiful store on our Tokyo trip so far Located in a renovated residential home With Japanese gardens surrounding the merch chai and americano Even though we didn't get anything, walking around the beautiful store was just a fun experience! Sidewalk Stand Personally I didn't really enjoy this cafe The cookie was rock-hard and the coffee was very dark There are a couple more menswear stores Vic wants to check out in Nakameguro 1LDK apartments 1LDK and 1LDK Apartments sit across each other: one sells clothing while the other houses a cafe and sells lifestyle items It's time to leave Nakameguro and head over to Ginza! Ginza Katsukami Tonight I booked a katsu omakase We had mixed reviews on this place: it's all tourists except our one local friend haha And felt like this was a one-time experience haha We chose the basic tasting menu which came with a variety of fried pork served in different ways pork cutlet chazuke strawberry milk and matcha shaved ice Day 8: Family Mart Bar and shopping in Prada Aoyama This is our last day here in Shibuya so I'm shoving in a ton of things I want to get done Like coffee shops and some shopping before we head to Ginza tomorrow Koffee Mameya It cost ¥8,000 for one coffee and a bag of beans which is actually quite expensive the queue at 11 am... Soup Stock It started drizzling so we got soup for breakfast Flying Tiger Copenhagen Omotesandō They have the TikTok cup I've been wanting! Over the last few years- I couldn't find it and it's here! Wait what is that? It's a big-ass garbage can! MOMA Design Store Omotesando Came to the MOMA shop because we ordered something and we need to pick it up in store The manager was telling us how to hold it so we don't hit any people on the sidewalk haha We got our Stendig calendar but we didn't know it would be this tall! Now we don't know how we're going to check it in at the airport because it's so long It's like a big Toblerone bar! Vintage Qoo Would've loved this if it was bigger They took away the 'husband chair' 😂 So many beautiful bags but they didn't sell the one brand I had my eye on The salesgirl recognized Victor as 'the husband' on my Reel and gave him a chair to sit while I browsed Prada Tokyo Aoyama Let's go inside the famous 'Prada' building designed by Swiss architecture firm Herzog & de Meuron On the top floor there's a special 'Prada Reporter' exhibit in collaboration with Magnum Photos They let us choose a print to take home with us d47 SHOKUDO The restaurant I tried to go to is actually open today It overlooks Shibuya scramble Shabu shabu set They also have a lifestyle shop on the same floor! Osake no Bijutsukan Shibuya Meiji dori I don't really drink but when I heard about a bar inside a Family Mart, I had to go check it out gin & tonic with famichiki You're allowed to buy Family Mart snacks and have it with your drink am I in a convenience store or a bar? Asian glow It's actually only 4pm so we decided to check out a cafe Note This cafe is located in a basement It has minimalist black/white interiors buttercream chocolate cake There were a lot of young high school girls queuing for this cafe! The chocolate cake really stole the show! After the rain stopped, we decided to go vinyl hunting Disk Union Shibuya Jazz Rare Groove CD Record Store This was my favourite record shop in Tokyo so far! Disk Union has a few shops but this one focuses on jazz They sell both used and new We purchased some random used ones for ¥800! Also picked up this map with a wide list of record shops in Tokyo! Oreryu Shio-Ramen special roasted pork ramen Matcha ice cream sandwich Day 9: Isetan and eel rice Today we're checking out of Shibuya and on our way to Ginza But before that we want to see this really unique Family Mart This Family Mart has a King Kong sitting at the top Nobody knows how it got there haha Obscura Laboratory Stumbled on this cafe on our way back to the subway Made a reservation at this Ginza restaurant for sukiyaki! Bakuro Ichidai Ginza 2 person sukiyaki set The 'Hello Neighbors!' Campaign at the Ginza Uniqlo is a collaboration between Uniqlo and all the brands around the area Bought some stuff at Daiso upstairs Heading over to my favorite camera shop: Bic Camera The x100v is completely sold out in all of Japan :( We're at Bic Camera to pick up a new battery and also to look at some lenses Buvette Tokyo There's always a queue at this French cafe but it moves very quickly chocolate mousse TODAY'S SPECIAL Hibiya Here to pick up some Secret Santa gifts! Mini pasta magnets We are back home aka at The Tokyu Stay Ginza again I swear we'll probably be able to show you every single room configuration This one is the Superior: it's got the double bed, small little living room, A built-in storage for drinks and then the very nice view of Ginza! And then over by the entrance we have a very generous size Japanese washroom Victor's favourite pant press And then also a washer/dryer because we're in desperate need of clean socks So we're already doing our laundry Isetan Shinjuku The Prada at Isetan is the only one who stocks the nylon hairband my friend wants so we went to pick it up Ps. if you purchase at Isetan and Mitsukuoshi you canget an additional 5% discount on top of tax back!!! Victor finally found his dream cardholder Victor got his first designer purchase First ever... in my colour too! DESERT SNOW Ended up copping this rugby style shirt We were hungry so Victor found an eel restaurant nearby This morning we got King Kong and we have Godzilla by night Shinjuku Unatetsu special 2 tier grilled eel rice bento We sat upstairs on tatami whereas you can watch them grill eel if you get the bar seats Day 10: cafe hopping in Kuramae and crazy popular udon It's a rainy Sunday morning and Victor started queuing for this udon shop an hour ago and the line is already down the block. Let's see what the hype is! Godaime Hanayama Udon Ginza 9:57 am (they open at 11 am) 10:19am 10:32am 10:55am oni-himokawa udon with tempura Udon was a success so now we're off to the Kuramae area for some cafe hopping! All the stores and cafes are located close to each other! Leaves Coffee Apartment This guy saw us filming and asked if we needed help (so nice!) Tool Shop Nobori This store was so popular because they sell the most beautiful Japanese ceramics Would recommend getting gifts here! Kashiya Shinonome This vintage style shop sells cookies and scones We couldn't resist and bought a lemon pound and shortbread Nakamura Tea Life Store Came in to browse and some customers were doing a tea tasting There was a long queue for Dandelion Chocolate Factory Kissa Hangetsu Another popular vintage cafe I'd like to try next time we're in Tokyo KURAMAE CANNELE CAFE If you're lucky, you can buy a fresh canele! They also have a tearoom upstairs- I'd love to go next time! The packaging for a canele is so extra haha We just had one on the streets before heading to Harajuku Stopped by this vintage cafe that sold ceramics too We were in need for a second coffee haha Tower Records Shibuya Popped into Tower Records to see if we could find any records to add to our collection We found some Sam Cooke! Day 11: DisneySea Christmas and last minute shopping Surprisingly a lot of noodle shops don't open until 11am So sometimes it's hard to have an early start cold soba and tempura rice bowl We already got our soba breakfast and our coffee! Now we're off to Disney! Last year, we did Disneyland, this year we're doing DisneySea Tokyo DisneySea A lot of the popular rides had 100-150 minute wait times :S Kind of disappointed in the Christmas greeting- -It was literally one boat circling around the lake and we expected there would be a lot more for this parade Popped into the Duffy store to pick up some souvenirs There was also a Converse collab for the 40th anniversary! We managed to get Disney Premier Access (¥2000 per person) for Journey to the Centre of the Earth Otherwise we'd have to wait 100 minutes to queue :S For lunch we got drumsticks haha Let's go check out the christmas merch! I was very tempted to buy this Look at what he's wearing: Mickey Burger! What language does Mickey speak while interacting with fans lol We got the soy sugar churros at Tokyo DisneySea! Back to the real world I was deciding between the new hop bag and the Jodie This is one very fancy authenticity card Mission accomplished! We're back at Bic Camera for a lens Testing the wide angle lens here haha. What do you guys think?
