$100 PHO & "PISSING SHRIMP" Seafood Buffet In Phnom Penh Cambodia

[Music] good morning from Phnom Penh Cambodia I love just be able to walk outside the hotel and always smell is roasted meats I don't even know where it's coming from I smell it it's in the air it's breakfast time and I'm thinking noodles for breakfast because that's the way it's done here and fun is actually a very popular food item in this country there's something you really should try while you're here [Music] [Music] and this is so interesting beef suit with different cuts of meat and an egg let me see the egg and plug before the noodles look beautiful they use the thicker noodles that's very common in Hanoi at the veggies different cuts of meat looks nice you guys got to come here and try this father that is some rich beefy flavor I haven't tasted since I left Vietnam the egg adds just a tad bit of creaminess to it oh man those chilies really heat it up like I tossed those chilies in there I didn't think was gonna affect the soup that much about oMG it did plan it is incredible this is before adding any hot sauce for sriracha this broth and it doesn't look all that spicy but oh my goodness what is that nice hit of spice with a slight creaminess of the egg and I incredibly deep beef flavor I tend to like the thin noodles better but these noodles are a bit smoother bit more of a chewy texture that's great as the regular flavor is and I love it I always like to jazz up my follow a bit a little more sriracha hot oil and place him now this is becoming more of a color I like oh sure slam Liz you're so good also it's just two blocks away from my hotel which makes this even better now $5.00 for this in this country I feel like there's a little steep but it's absolutely delicious especially with the other herbs and Bailey let's put in is this brings us at every moment that makes it even more spectacular this is the best part the bottom of the ball without a little bits of veggies and meat and you'd also like diving for buried treasure I know probably for most of you guys the best part of waking up is copying your a cup but for me it's definitely noodles in my bowl [Music] this is a really good place probably not the best idea to go on to that heat already sweaty but that's worth it [Music] right now on my way to Central Market it's actually really beautiful with the Art Deco vision I look at it so pretty it was built over 80 years ago and this place is massive it houses hundreds of different stalls selling clothing to food basically whatever you're looking for they have it [Music] and it seems you walk in all you see are jewelry shops and this place actually keep it pretty cool inside [Music] but this is the part I really interest me [Music] these little shrimp crackers look insane [Music] covered a medium size shrimp I liked her it's got a crazy crunch to it not only from the batter for fun like the little shrimp heads and little shrimp legs and biscuits this becomes like a super loaded shrimp chip hmm I'll hit that a lot actually grace some taste love the texture mmm probably like a go slightly sweet spicy dipping sauce it'd be even better when you even as is absolutely delicious oh man I really really like this I mean I grew up eating shrimp crackers and this is like the ultimate shrimp cracker [Music] so these ladies steaming a coconut rice cake oh it's great fluffy little mochi is coconut sweet pick ball staying here I was just get like a box and I take it home and just randomly pop it in my mouth throughout the day that's just a little bottom happiness seriously this is called lore cha and these are rice noodles and they're kind of cut really small like little minnows and these things are fantastic check it out these are the noodles and they're unlike any other details I've ever seen before and the stir fry a little bits of eggs chive greens and a little sausage and this is one of the most popular noodle dishes here in Cambodia that is great stuff these noodles because they're made with rice they got a spongy or texture than regular noodles so the mouthfeel it's just bloody awesome mmm so chewy and bouncy the sauce daddy can taste a king's sugar a lot of them umami from the soy it's got a little bit of sharp and from that extremely hot cooking platform beef is tender it's a chives crunchy and garlicky a little chili sauce this might be something that best friends you don't you ever have this is a stir-fry masterpiece magical so good well with that egg through that's just that bit of creaminess unbelievable truly trying to get a beef sandwich but still down Oh fun little market this has a great little foods that stir-fried noodles after huh I gotta try that oh my god this is Hank so she's uh you have a coffee shop yes if that sells puff and this is called a achoo yep and it looks like a rojack she's putting cane sugar on top well I wasn't mango guava tamarind 55 gets you a ton of fruit all right we're gonna go to your coffee shop oh this is yours look at that overachiever so cozy I agree all right but number two oh my god this is so fancy stone ball huh so sort of like a deconstructed [Music] second of the day you know what they say you can never be too fun but try to sing that really quick ten times really fun let's try this what's this called again what you wanna try this whatever this is what to Rhea hmm it's like a mix between like a crabapple and assurance it's a bit slimy solving Chile's I really like the green mangoes it's very crispy and sweet I like that fun number three of the day visit The Cove a this is a hundred dollar bull [Music] there's really nothing in life like do I give me it's like taking your taste buds on a first-class flight it's nothing like the sensation of great Wagyu beef the melty now feel incredibly fatty flavors when you can have two of your favorite things in the world and just do an extreme mashup Kobe beef and thumb hit Disney forget Cinderella this is the love story you should be talking about it's an ultimate beef noodle soup with the ultimate beef such nice people and that goes for basically everyone I met in this country so far I'm at what phnom temple right now and I'd slept strolling around in the middle of a city could just be this majestic serene temple or holy structure you see there's a lot in Thailand and definitely here in Cambodia too and the legend behind this temple is that in the 14th century there was a girl named Penh who found holy Buddhist relics on a hill and so a temple was erected on the hill and a city was named after a the city of course was Phnom Penh which means pins hell cool huh good afternoon this has been a really really fun vacation so far because I made a point every single day to take a nap in between meals to go back to my childhood traditions and take a nap in the middle of the day anyway it's dinner time I think I found a good place [Music] and I'm here for this seafood paradise I've never gone to a seafood buffet in an Asian country and not had just the most amazing time and I'm expected this one to be pretty darn impressive as well forty-two dollars a person starts in 30 minutes what's crazy unique about this buffet is that first of all tons of different types of lobster and giant shrimp couple notable things this is of course this came here frozen this is from Canada's no way they're gonna do live lobster all-you-can-eat they have the Asian lobster this is fresh and this tastes much better River prawns this is some of the best tasting since we're gonna find in Southeast Asia so I know this a lot of the food items here they're not cooked at all so what they're doing is they're taking raw seafood and cooking it to order like almost all of it almost none of it is already cooked also pissing shrimp into strip this is so expensive Wow I mean overall it's not a huge buffet but that's some quality ingredients already I've seen this area basically is where all the seafood and all the meats live and this is really where you need to be [Music] the lively one there thank you so this site they stir-fry we'll put it into soup that side they have grill employers so basically whatever you way you want to enjoy your seafood they can make it happen [Music] so on this side with some grilled lobster prawns lamb steak basically same ingredients except for added some turf to it thank you all right round one I've been learning more stuff so this little station here they basically do every single thing as you order it so from the tom yum soup to the papayas out to even the dim sum ma'am a lot of stuff is already cooked until you actually order which is pretty nice this is my fresh stir-fried seafood and I always get the Asian lobster because again that is something and get fresh here oh thank you my grill seafood is here and my grill meat is here I have a lot of stuff going on my first round called a stir-fry the lobster with a bunch of ingredients this looks scrumptious the aroma this thing is giving off its already pretty darn intoxicating I spelt butter garlic tamarin that's a saucy lobster tail Oh heck to the yeah then these fresh peppers are so interesting so instead of using like regular powder peppers they're using fresh peppers which are so much more aromatic and flavorful ah yeah there's a little piece of the mantis shrimp if you're in the know this is what you should be getting if you see this end up buffet soaked in sauce garlic chives and you gotta eat these a little of some of those little peppers the meat is so sweet and succulent this is one of the best seafood items you can find anywhere on the planet and if you can find it on a buffet take advantage of that just be careful these things will stab you to death this stir-fry is so spectacular everything you love about the seafood the natural sweetness it's not covered up at all it's just highlighted by the garlic and the peppers just marvelous marvelous this is my other favorite massive rubber prom and the head don't forget to suck on all that this is one of the sweetest seafoods you'll find anywhere happiness I have found you the steak is actually pretty tender just make sure to eat that as soon as it gets off the grill otherwise it's gonna turn hard a little bad yes yes thousand times yes lamb cooked perfectly great scar juicy tender and they give you so many types of spicy chili sauces yeah I'm just kind of experimenting with it with a couple on here mmm oh well that chili sauce is my jam if that was a song it'd be only peed all day long spicy just had sweet and in this country they use a lot of palm sugar so the dishes are sometimes a little sweet not overly so but the palm sugar you can taste the difference between that a like you know artificially sweets in junk it's actually a good sweet flavor both of these I'm gonna dress up a very typical Southeast Asians flavoring sweet citrusy garlicky tons of herbs you know what's so great about the addition of these sauces is that often time when you eat out a seafood buffet as good as the seafood is it does get boring when all you have is maybe drama butter or cocktail sauce when you have all these different great tasting sauces just like my favorite show Brooklyn nine-nine never gets boring I love it especially this one my jam oh nice top my grill she poop so they grilled it and feel I think they put a little garlic butter on the seafood and thats it thats all they deal with this name i mean it's perfectly grilled and look at that juice permeating from the lobster and that just beautiful color of the pissing shrimp understand tinder beyond words that's just like me shrimpy cocktail definitely an a-plus-plus on the fresh seafood best thing on here stop pissing shrimp for sure it's almost like having dessert like the natural dessert of the ocean what is this oh just a regular pork bun huh oh my god that's hot it's not the best button in the world well try I feel like I like the dough more than what I like on the inside but that's fixable stuff some black forest ham in there yeah I'll make this work [Music] I feel like that's an improvement salmon heads home YUM but this I'm not a big fan of it's missing a lot of citrus that I expect from tom yum soup hmm Wow a plush plush plush on the ridiculously tender pieces of salmon though if you see the soup up here just get a bunch of chunks at this you don't need to get that much broth because the broth isn't really that good but Lord of all that's tender in the world that might be one of the most tender pieces of salmon fish I've ever put in my mouth I mean look at the stains is completely fall apart well ma'am that's a saving grace of the soup right here I'm gonna go back and just get a bunch of chunks of this just fish sands soup especially when the pieces of fish is nice and fatty definitely need more of that in my life I was just directed over here to this sauce this is called a cocoon sauce and they said this would be great with a seafood oh yeah oh I want that all right define one more cooking method so you are able to ask him to steamer for you as well so they seem over some garlic and some butter we'll see how that turns out it's so funny and it's it's makes sense but no one is really touching these these other dishes so everyone is just getting the seafood hey that's just a characteristic of Asian it's like we can never let the buffet win as soon as we step into a buffet it's a battleground [Music] [Music] I whilst I wait for my next round of seafood let's do a little pre-emptive dessert tasting High Desert's are solid cakes are really good and not overly sweet very melting your mouth but nothing really too special to write home about it's satisfying I think this buffet really appetizer dessert side dishes forget all that just concentrate on the seafood get the salmon here the fat Saleem racial on the salmon is so important I like my of course a little fatty and this thing is a goomar 800 GCM melts your mouth how to give myself a couple more lamb popsicles and dip it in my favorite dipping sauce this sauce I'll miss this when I leave this sauce it's like Superman's pink it just made for this lamp yeah guy just can put his little lamb rib to Superman because the love I have for Superman and this lamb rib it's pretty much the same and I love Superman alive this is so scrumptious trust me this is better than any mint chili horseradish sauce wherever else you ever put out your lamp ah that's perfect I think I'm on my 10th round of seafood right now and then since seafood doesn't really fill me up like ever so munch on some bread only do this oh heck yeah thank you it's all Shane only do this we sure you got your money's worth out about that and I'm pretty sure I did oh here we go two new versions of seafood steamed lobster and then they also make a seafood soup for you this lobster is steamed with a little garlic butter don't waste that little juice mmm oh my god I'll set it the stir fried it's my favorite way to eat this thing here oh man plasters perfect little garlic a little scallions loving it I'm gonna try it with this sauce mmm this is a purple for super take my little car head I'll add a little chili to my pron head cocktail steamed is so good it's able to preserve so much more of the natural sweetness it takes longer but that is definitely the way to go if you want just that great flavor of the prawn I'll take that over grilled and I love grilled lobster prawn soup hmm it's a very light rock not much added ingredients it's a little sweep surely because of the sweetness from the lobster and the prawn and a little all in a little pissing shrimp it's good there's something another way to go if you want maximum flavor mantis shrimp I love this so much I don't know whether I love this so much because it's not just because this thing cost so much money it's haste seriously give this a try this shrimp is unbelievably sweet honestly I'll take this over Lobster any day all right assessment time at this buffet total price about $44 is definitely one of the smaller seafood buffets I've been to in Asia I mean this is definitely now like one of those overwhelming places like Spiral or a fresh but the price point is pretty similar I mean this cost as much as the fresh buffet I went to the Philippines which I could still content that in the buffet in Vietnam probably the two best seafood buffets in Asia that I've been to so the price point is not much lower but it does have a lot less variety the good points on this is that I never seen mantis shrimp on a buffet and that sucker is unbelievably expensive so just by that one factor alone I would happily pay this price just for all you can you mantis shrimp I think the preparation for the seafood the stir-fry industry me there's some of the best especially the sauce they use in this stir-fry it it's a very unique and fantastically delicious way to consume seafood and that is something I don't see a lot in other buffets so overall this place don't come here for the dessert don't come here for the appetizers just understand that you're coming here are you spending the forty five bucks only on seafood I mean you're not gonna find a quality of seafood at this price point in the u.s. ever so definitely worth it I mean honestly if this buffet was in the US it will easily be 120 to 150 bucks per person so I guess I'm saying it's in terms of all you can conceive of buffets in Asia this is probably not that that's one although it does have a very unique seafood item and the stir-fry is probably one of the most delicious ways I've had seafood prepared in any buffing so if you are a seafood lover and you're in Phnom Penh I would recommend this place because the seafood alone is superb just keep your expectations low I'm basically everything else also shout out to all the servers and chefs so friendly nicest people in the world I'm gonna go for a few more rounds before I get out of here but thank
