at one time both Sony and Nintendo were working together but canceled plans for a sony and nintendo gaming system quickly transformed into one of the biggest console wars of the 1990s as Nintendo led the way with innovation there were many times where Sony blatantly ripped off the company and took advantage of it for their own gain see the game's hardware and some really specific features sony has claimed as their own over the years before we begin subscribe to the gamer and don't forget to ring that bell to become a part of our notification squad where you'll be the first to know of new content without further ado let's dive into some times PlayStation ripped-off Nintendo PlayStation all-stars battle royale Nintendo completely changed the way multiplayer fighters are played and have evolved over the years what originally started out with one-on-one battles and Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat exploded with crazy multi character fights in the Super Smash Brothers franchise every major Nintendo console has received their own version of Super Smash Brothers and the game is only improved over the years with expanded rosters movesets and modes in 2012 Sony decided to get in on the fighting mix with the release of PlayStation all-stars battle royale the game is pretty much a clone of Super Smash Brothers with players battling it out around interactive arenas and using each character to their advantage while Nintendo's Super Smash Brothers series is featured iconic characters like Mario Zelda and Pikachu celanese version felt a little bit like the minor leagues some of the headliners include Nathan Drake from uncharted jak and daxter and Kratos from God of War the full roster is slim compared to Nintendo's lineup and newer versions have allowed players to actually use me characters for unlimited possibilities there's yet to be a sequel to PlayStation all-stars battle royale for the ps4 the original controller the entire video game industry as we know it would have been completely different if Sony and Nintendo would have just gotten along and gone ahead with their plans after the success of the SNES Sony collaborated with Nintendo to create the SNES CD Nintendo ultimately decided to back out of the deal and stay within their own company and Sony was left in the dust that being said Sony never gave up on their dreams of releasing console and thus the first PlayStation was born once people got their hands on the console something felt a little familiar in players hands turns out when comparing the ps1 controller and the Super Nintendo controller they're almost exactly the same Sony added extended hand grips and two extra triggers but the rest of the layout is nearly identical as Nintendo changed their controllers and tried new concepts over the years sony has stuck with the same basic controller design and they have the Super Nintendo to thank for that PlayStation Move after the success of the GameCube Nintendo really transformed the way games are played at home with the release of the Nintendo Wii the wireless Wiimote and Nunchuk offered interactive gaming with all kinds of titles and new franchises from series like Super Mario and The Legend of Zelda naturally the success of the Wii and the motion controllers would trickle down to other game consoles but nothing was as blatant of a copy as Sony's release of the PlayStation Move the PlayStation Move was released in 2010 four years after the Wii was released the whole marketing campaign almost seemed like a joke the controllers were basically clones of the Wii mode and Sony tried to make them stand out by adding coloured balls on the top of them the colored balls seemed like one of those third-party wii controller accessories rather than an original sony product by the time the PlayStation Move was released the we was already saturated in the market and had a whole library of games at least Microsoft tried to stand out with the controller free connected device PlayStation Move games not only did Sony copy the Wiis wireless controller scheme but the game releases were pretty much ripoffs as well when the Nintendo Wii was first released it came packaged with Wii Sports the motion controlled sports game featured tennis bowling boxing baseball and golf when the PlayStation Move starter pack was first released it was packaged with sports champions a game featuring table tennis archery bocce and disc golf the game was trying hard not to copy Wii Sports but sports champion too included a lot of the same games in Sports Champions 2 players could participate in almost all of the same sports as we sports this included boxing tennis golf and bowling other PlayStation Move games were very similar to other Wii games carnival games was a hit for the Wii that spawned a sequel and featured a number of different minigames the PlayStation Move included a release known as Carnival Island essentially the exact same game naturally the games didn't have the same success as the Wii and Sony slowly faded out the move to focus more on the PlayStation VR headset LittleBigPlanet carting ever since the rise of video games racing games have been around the games have evolved over the years and Nintendo really helped build the world of character based arcade racing the Mario Kart series was a landmark for racing games there have been numerous ripoffs and similar games over the years as other companies like Sony and Sega also grouped their popular characters to do some racing some of the more notable examples include Crash Team Racing Sonic and Sega all-stars racing and nicktoons racing the whole arcade racing world has become its own gaming genre with mario kart consistently leading the pack one of the things helping mario kart stand out is the whole cart name in its title they pretty much owned the name and it's a part of the franchise this is why it was pretty shocking to see Sony release LittleBigPlanet karting the game is clearly a ripoff of mario kart and features all of the LittleBigPlanet characters in a racing adventure of course the game is nothing when compared to Mario Kart but Sony really tried to one-up them the game features a number of tracks along with the ability to make your own karts or tracks but it just doesn't have the same fun or satisfaction as the Mario Kart games Sony can create any racing game they want but if you add Kart to the title you're asking for a fight from Nintendo and will constantly be compared oceanhorn monster of Uncharted Seas one of Nintendo's biggest franchises of all time is the Legend of Zelda for years other games have tried to ripoff designs characters and stories from the world of Zelda but none of them ever compare to the actual games even though it wasn't produced by Sony the game oceanhorn monster of Uncharted Seas was released for the PlayStation 4 and it's one of the biggest zelda ripoffs out there the game clearly based the levels gameplay and mechanics off of the classic Wind Waker in the original GameCube game link travels on a small sailboat as he lands on islands and discovers a number of different dungeons and caves in oceanhorn monster of Uncharted Seas players take control of a young boy on a quest on a sailboat he lands on small islands and battles monsters in dungeons and caves even though the game is pretty much the Legend of Zelda without the name attached it still plays well and is a good alternative for PlayStation owners who don't have access to any official Zelda content analog sticks remember a time in the gaming world where analog sticks weren't expected as part of every controller the smooth moves and analogue sticks made it easier to navigate 3d worlds steer cars and control cameras on the PlayStation DualShock controllers the analog sticks are an essential part of the design and one of the main ways people play the next time you get your hands on a Dual Shock controller you can thank Nintendo for their widespread introduction to the world of analog sticks the Nintendo 64 controller may have been ugly to look at but there were so many innovations still seen in video game hardware today the n64 controller featured a single analog stick in the center bottom of the controller the analog stick didn't feature the soft grips seen on many of the modern controllers but it got the job done in games like Super Mario 64 and starfox a few years after the release of the n64 controller in 1996 Sony introduced a new Dual Shock controller for the ps1 with two analog sticks that are still found on it today once the GameCube was released a second analog stick was added on Nintendo's controller but they were simply expanding on their own design once again Nintendo did it first and Sony tried to improve on their design rumble features for years gaming companies have been looking for ways to make games more interactive and have players immerse themselves into the titles more in the 1990s Nintendo expanded on these ideas by introducing the rumble Pak with the rumble Pak attached to the back of the controller players could feel car crashes punches and other impacts while playing their favorite games the add-on was an instant success and would become a main feature in almost all future controllers and just like many other features Sony once again took advantage of Nintendo's success by the spring of 1998 Sony was showcasing a new Dual Shock controller with built-in Rumble features when Sony released some of their clear model Dual Shock controllers you could actually see the rumble mechanism work while you played the game now both the DualShock 4 controllers and Nintendo's joy kaan controllers have rumble features built-in players have been using the Rumble for so long it feels like something is off when you don't feel those small vibrations when playing a variety of games totaku figures for a while there several video game companies went through a booming toys to life gaming face Skylanders helped lead the way with multiple games and eventually the market became filled with series like Disney infinity and Lego dimensions Nintendo decided to get in on the mix with their line of amiibo figures showcasing the likes of Mario link and other popular Nintendo characters the amiibo figures had very distinct cases and artwork making it hard for players to ever want to open the stylish cases while Sony doesn't have any toys to life characters based off their popular franchises they do have a figure line coming out simply known as the totaku figures these figures include designs based off of characters like crash bandicoot Sackboy from LittleBigPlanet and the hunter from blood-borne they're simple collectible toys and any gamer passing by them on a store shelf could easily confuse them with amiibo the packaging looks almost the same and the figures have small stands which makes it look like you could stand them up much like the amiibo figures PlayStation Vita pets when the Nintendo DS was first released gamers learned how to interact with the handheld console using features like the touchscreen dual screen action and stylus pen one game which took advantage of a majority of these features was Nintendogs in the virtual pet game players would raise and take care of our own canines several sequels to the games were released including Nintendogs Dalmatian and Friends the series was a hit and the graphics offered a realistic take on the virtual dog once Sony's handheld Vita console was released the company needed a way to showcase their features enter PlayStation Vita pets the game essentially looks exactly like a port of Nintendogs and has a number of the same features even though the title of the game is pets you can only raise dogs while playing the game is pretty much a complete ripoff and while it's fun to play it's hard to ignore the fact that Nintendo created the exact same thing years earlier along with the game content the cover of the game looks just like Nintendogs with a cute puppy sitting front and center Wow well there you have it what do you think is the worst time PlayStation ripped off Nintendo are
