- These are 10 things you should be buying at Costco in 2021. Welcome back to the channel. I'm the YouTube Deal Guy, Matt Granite. I'm excited to have you here. I'm gonna take you inside my local Costco, unveil some secret surprises, and if you wait till
the end of this video, there's a bit of a, a sweet
treat waiting for you. That was awkward, but
a sweet-tasting item. More importantly, if you are subscribed with your notifications
turned on for this channel, I thank you. You've already made things better for me than they were in high school, where popularity was
definitely not my thing. The first product you
should be buying at Costco, Saran Wrap, or more importantly, if the name Saran Wrap rings a bell, it's known as Saran Wrap
because it is trademarked by the Saran brand, owned by SC Johnson, which means Costco can't
call its plastic wrap that. But if you put the two side-by-side, they're indistinguishable, where the only differentiation is price. A two-pack of 750-foot rolls of Kirkland Signature
Stretch-Tite Plastic Food Wrap sells for $9.88 at the time
I'm uploading this video. That's 1,500 square feet of plastic wrap. Most major grocery store
chains sell 200 square feet for around five bucks. So you're doing way better at Costco. Another item often overlooked at Costco is in the number two spot, and those are dish detergent pods. You might not know it for 2021, but Costco's put a huge
focus on its cleaning agents, and we will discuss
laundry in a few moments. But their detergent pods tied to the Kirkland Signature
Premium Dishwasher Pacs are a fraction of the price compared to national brands like Cascade. Just to put it into perspective, you'll pay $9.78 cents for 115 pods. That's nine cents per load, compared to around 25 cents per load, which what you will find with
the major brands elsewhere. And I should note, compared to Cascade and Finish, Consumer Reports actually
picked the Costco pods as best in performance, out of everything they tested. In the number three spot
of the top 10 things you should be buying at
Costco in 2021, snacks. And whether you have the intention to eat a more healthy, balanced
snack diet this year, or you're looking for things for school lunches or snacking
while you work from home, Kind bars, as an example,
are 95 cents each at Costco, compared to Walmart, where they're $1.19. M&M peanut chocolate yumminess candies, 17 cents per ounce at Costco, versus 24 cents per ounce at Walmart. My daughter's favorite,
Mott's Fruit Snacks, 11 cents per pack. It's double the price at Walmart. The Del Monte Bubble Fruit,
47 cents per cup at Costco, versus 65 cents per cup at Target, and 63 cents per cup at Walmart. And the Cheez-It Crackers, as an example, 18 cents per ounce at Costco, double at Walmart. In the number four spot
(eggs tapping), eggs. We go through a lot of
eggs in my household, and the 24-pack of Kirkland
Signature Organic Eggs are a top priority. At just under six bucks for the 24-pack, you're looking at around 25 cents per egg, compared to around 43 cents per egg, which is what you will pay, in most cases, at your local grocery store. In the number five spot, I'm going to discuss laundry, and there may be a
little bit of controversy tied to what I'm going to say. I happen to love the Costco Kirkland Signature Laundry Pods, but I have not found a
lot of material online or on blogs or discussion groups to support how great I
think it is as a parent, specifically for a parent of a toddler. So I'm gonna discuss in this case, Tide, and this is still a great
item to buy at Costco. If you look at the Tide Pods, they're 18 cents per load with no coupons or
manufacturer assistance, at the time I'm uploading this video. Target, 22 cents per load. And at the time I'm uploading this video, 25 cents per load on Amazon, if you do not use a coupon. To anyone watching, if you've used the Kirkland Free & Clear
Signature Laundry Detergent, please weigh in, leave a comment. Let me know if I'm on my own for this one. In the number six spot, and this has actually lasted so long, my wife has turned the
box for these garbage bags into its own little receptacle
holder under our sink. But the industrial grade
garbage bags are made with commercial enterprises
in mind by Costco. So while other brands
will have to tell you, "Oh, they've got the
extra heavy duty version," and, "Buy the five times more durable if you don't want your bags to break," the Kirkland Signature Garbage
Bags offer odor control without relying upon Febreze
or any other partnerships. And they are up to 30% less than what you would pay elsewhere. The kitchen ones, as an example, come out easily, no
gimmick to separate them. You don't need to wet
your finger five times to separate them, and they are easily, (bag crinkles)
tied up once you get your garbage inside, and the odor control again, awesome. In the number seven spot, before I get to some really
good sweet treats, bacon. Now, I am excited that I get to tell you about a product that is
near and dear to my heart. But the Kirkland Signature
Bacon is not only delicious, Consumer Reports, once again, put bacon from Costco
as a top store brand. And they did note that this
top pig product from Costco is perfectly balanced when it comes to both crispiness, fat, and meat flavors. In the number eight spot, the cheese selection is
often overlooked at Costco because it's not the most robust variety, but if you are looking
for Parmesan cheese. this is where you need to go. And I don't know if you are aware, but you can purchase
the Kirkland Signature Whole Wheel Parmigiano
Reggiano for $900, on its own, or you can buy it at $12.50 per pound. Taste tests across the
country have revealed it tastes just as good as
any of the top imports, or what you might be served at your favorite Italian restaurant. If your big takeaway is that
the Kirkland Signature brand is often the better brand to go to for any of your purchases, that is not always the case, which brings us to the number nine item, and that is Ziploc. Not the Kirkland version of
Ziploc, but Ziploc itself. And since this is one of the many products where people do not want
a generic alternative, Costco has an actual
partnership with the brand, and this means the Ziploc
Gallon Freezer Bags at Costco are 10 cents per bag or less. And Walmart's best price at the time that I'm uploading this video is 16 cents per bag. So if you are looking to stock up, if Ziploc is a brand that you love, Costco is the place to go. And from one partnership to another, I did mention a sweet treat, and in the number 10 spot, maple syrup, and more importantly,
Canadian maple syrup. I don't know if you guys are aware, but Costco does have an
international presence and a huge following in Canada. And with its distribution arrangements north of the border, real Canadian maple syrup is
an incredible buy at Costco. Not only is it higher
quality than competitors, but it costs almost 40% less, and that is for the real thing. And now for the bonus items, before I get to a very
unique meat surprise that has nothing to do with
that famous rotisserie chicken. Let's talk about the baked goods, phenomenal category to hit up at Costco. Costco bakery muffins work
out to around 65 cents each. At Walmart, you're looking
at around $1.08 each. So a huge difference on that. Cheesecake, specifically
the Kirkland cheesecake, 19 cents per ounce,
versus 35 cents per ounce from Walmart's Freshness Guaranteed. A bakery bunch, croissants
are 42 cents each at Costco. And at Walmart, you're looking at north of that 65-cent mark per croissant. I don't think they're
nearly as good at Walmart. If you are looking for
beer, wine or spirits, Costco is actually one of
the best places to stock up. Even some of that fancier stuff, you will find at a fraction
of what you would pay from even like a duty-free at an airport, as I know, as a constant
person going back and forth. Great purchases that you
can make from Costco. And finally, turkey. I could go on all day about
the rotisserie chickens, but I did that last year. Turkey is the new pick that you should be purchasing from Costco, and more specifically, look at this brand that I picked up at my local Costco. The ingredients of this
organic turkey greatness, really just turkey and water. And more importantly, if you're looking for lunch meat options, snack items, charcuterie boards, or just something to keep on hand, because this really does
keep, it's delicious. It's free of the nitrates, antibiotics, and all that stuff from deli meat that we usually try to avoid when we can. This is a great purchase. All right, there you go.
