- These are 10 new Lowe's
secrets that will save you money. Welcome back to the channel. I'm The YouTube Deal Guy Matt Granite, here to expose some secrets that Lowe's might not want you to know. From dozens of untapped freebies to how you can lower the price
of a purchase by up to 30%, I'm gonna bring all of
you awesome subscribers inside my local Lowe's store
to expose these secrets. This video is not sponsored in any way. And if you do like this content, please feel free to give
this video a thumbs-up. It helps me more than I can articulate. In the first spot, the
first shopping secret: know how to read those
clearance tags at Lowe's because you're not always
getting the lowest price. Lowe's has a slightly confusing two-tiered clearance tag process. There are two types of clearance tags where that yellow color
is definitely something you wanna gravitate toward at a Lowe's. But there's the first
type of clearance tag that says Clearance and also indicates New
Lower Price on that sticker. That simply means this
is a temporary markdown for around 60 days and not necessarily the lowest price. If you see a plethora of the
specific product available, I won't get overly excited. This product is likely
to be reduced further and especially for tentpole events like Memorial Day, Presidents'
Day, Fourth of July, and the holiday quarter. The second type of clearance tag at Lowe's just says Clearance. That means you're getting a product that is at its final markdown phase. And if there's not a lot
of that product available, I would make your move because
you might not see it again. That is the lowest price
that Lowe's will be offering. For Lowe's shopping secret number two before I explain why their free
shipping isn't always free, before you buy something at Lowe's, did you know you can rent? Most local Lowe's stores
offer you the ability to rent hundreds of products. Lowe's Tool Rental service
runs around 15 to 60 bucks per 24-hour period for the average product that might cost you somewhere
between 200 and $1,000 but only use a few times. This is great for those
temporary projects. If you have something like
a bathroom renovation, or if you're tackling
some type of lawn care, during the spring DIY season, consider renting versus buying
for a fraction of the cost. And I would recommend this
for short-term projects rather than any extensive long renovation. And by the way, for
anyone watching right now, if you're wondering how
Lowe's compares to Home Depot, I do have a dedicated video
right here on this channel where I compare the two hardware
retail giants side by side, and you can see which store
might actually come out on top for your specific needs. Shopping secret number three: the free shipping at
Lowe's is not always free. Many of us have traveled
to a Lowe's store, identified a specific major
appliance that we wanna buy. We've identified that
the product is over $299, so therefore we get free shipping. That is not always the case. Your shipping is only free
if the recipient address is within 75 miles of a Lowe's store. Otherwise, your free
shipping could be subject to all sorts of expensive fees. I've been fortunate enough to hear from some contractors,
interior decorators. My brother-in-law works in the trades. Many of these wonderful people
will travel to a Lowe's. They'll secure all of the
perfect appliance deals for the client, and then that free shipping
goes out the window when the delivery address
is a little bit further away than they may have anticipated. That Lowe's shopping secret number three was a bit of a downer. But wait till you hear number four. This is a way to save a lot of money and put it back in your
pocket where it belongs. Did you know Lowe's offers bulk pricing? And you don't even need
to be a contractor. If you are tackling a big project, look for the Lowe's Buy In Bulk logos, which are seen throughout the store, where you can score an additional
10 to 30% off anything, from electrical essentials
to home or seasonal decor and even plumbing. And if you are shopping on lowes.com, I do have a link if you expand
the video description box that will take you to
the Buy in Bulk section which yields all sorts of savings on door hardware, drywall,
fencing, piping, you name it. An additional 10 to 30% off just from knowing that the
Buy in Bulk section exists and knowing that some
products, when grouped in Bulk, if you look for that tag or
the identifying factor online, will put more cash back in your pocket. Lowe's shopping secret number five is another way to lower the
price of your entire order in the event that you are
buying a bunch of items, but it's not typically categorized
under the Bulk category, and you think you might
be able to do better. Well, you can. The Lowe's Pro Business Center is a very important customer service desk that's not just designated
for contractors, where individuals that are in this area can give you 10 to 30% off a big project if you're spending at least $1,500, which we all know is
not that difficult to do if you are tackling a major renovation. Here's what you need to do. Approach the Pro Business Center desk and show them what
you're planning to spend. It's pivotal that you approach this area before you've made any purchases, so don't approach them with a receipt. Approach them with a shopping list, and these folks can offer you something called Volume Discount Pricing. If you look online, they indicate
that if you are purchasing at least $1,500 worth of something, stop by the Pro desk before you check out and request a quote. The quote that they give you is also valid for a 30-day period. So if you're hesitant about
making a major purchase during the holiday quarter, wondering if Black Friday and Cyber Monday will bring better deals, lock in the Pro Business
Center Volume Discount Pricing and you might be laughing
all the way to the bank with an additional 10 to 30% off in the event that there
aren't better prices in the holiday quarter. Lowe's shopping secret number six is tied to a variety of freebies before I explain how to double
dip on a couple of discounts some people might not know how to work to their full advantage. Did you know that Lowe's will cut all sorts of things for free? Many regular Lowe's shoppers are aware that Lowe's will cut lumber. But did you know they will also
cut shelves, blinds, carpet, pipes, chains, and even
electrical wiring for free? In fact, on my most recent
Lowe's shopping spree, I saw a couple of things
being cut for free but over a long period of time because I do spend a lot of
time in stores taking notes, and I don't really have
anywhere else to go, and I wanna share that
information with you. This is definitely an
underutilized area of the store that you could take advantage of now that you know it exists. For shopping secret number seven that Lowe's might not want you to know, many of us are aware that the
heroes that live amongst us are rewarded with military
and veteran discounts which you can use on top of sales. But if you ever have the opportunity to buy a gift card at a
discounted price at Sam's Club, which is a typical thing we see, or if you are shopping online and you see websites like
Gift Card Granny or Raise offering cash discounts
on a Lowe's gift card, meaning you can buy a Lowe's gift card for anywhere between 3.75% off to 10% off depending upon what's being
offered on that particular week, you can then use that gift
card to pay for your purchase. And if you do have a
military or veteran discount, you can use both in
conjunction with each other and amplify your savings. Shopping secret number eight that Lowe's does not want you to know is tied to their credit card, and it's a so-called awesome incentive that a lot of people sign up for that actually isn't the true benefit of the Lowe's Everyday Advantage Card. Many customers gravitate toward the Lowe's
Advantage Card signup offer that you might have presented
to you upon checkout. Or if you see an ad online,
a lot of people get excited because there's something that indicates that for limited time, new accounts get 20%
off your purchase today. So that's awesome. You
wanna stock up and save 20%. On a major household
product or renovation, a 20% discount could be astronomical. But if you scroll down and
read the very fine print, the 20% off discount is
actually capped at $100 as your max amount saved. So while that $100 is better than nothing, that's hardly why I would gravitate toward the Lowe's Advantage Credit Card. The Lowe's Advantage Card
offers 5% off every day or a Special Six Months Financing, which means if you meet
the minimum payments, you don't have to pay any interest for a period of six months. For long-term projects
like rebuilding a home, there's also an 84-month
fixed and reduced APR on certain qualifying purchases. Plus, you do save 5% every day. So while that 20% might be the reason you actually start the application, the main reason to finish
it is not that offer at all but the additional perks. And if you are interested in exploring the Lowe's Advantage Card, expand the video description box. I do have a link to that credit card, which you're welcome to check out. Before I explain how to save up to 80% off on something tied to your backyard in the bonus section of this video, for shopping secret number nine, I'm gonna guide you through what I believe to be one of the best price match policies that's also one of the most underutilized, and that's tied to the
Lowe's Price Match Promise. Many of you know that Lowe's
will price match Home Depo. But did you know Lowe's will
also price match Amazon, Wayfair, Walmart, Target, Best
Buy, Macy's, Ace Hardware, Bed Bath & Beyond, TractorSupply.com,
and even JC Penney? When was the last time
you walked into a Lowe's and saw their smart home section where their Ring Video Doorbell might have been a fraction of the price at Best Buy or Amazon, and instead of reaching for your app to buy from one of those retailers, you could have completed that
purchase at a matched price just by presenting that
ad or ad scan or an app to the customer service desk at Lowe's. Awesome! Now, the only thought I had while I was reading all of these
qualified online retailers: what overlap does Lowe's
and JCPenney.com have? I'm not quite sure, but I am certainly going
to investigate that. And if you would like to leave
me a comment and weigh in, please feel free. Shopping secret number 10. Never make a major appliance purchase without first checking for
rebates by your ZIP code. Many of the additional
rebates that you qualify for are never advertised in the store. And even if something entices you online, it's not always clear that
there is an applicable rebate. The Rebate Center, which
I am including a link for in the video description box, is a fantastic resource
to further incentivize or lower the price of a purchase before you make it
specifically for appliances. And if you've already made a purchase, it definitely doesn't hurt
to look back after the fact and see if you still qualify for a rebate within a certain amount of time. And it's very clearly laid out so I would highly recommend
creating a bookmark to the section specifically for things like LG products right now. At this exact moment, I
could save more than $4,000 on things like LG
appliances, General Electric, and so many other brands. $4,000 is a lot of money. And now for the bonus
section of this video, I'm gonna explore some of these points a little bit more quickly, and I will get to those 80%-off backyard-related
savings in a moment. But for bonus shopping secret number one, did you know you can rent a pickup truck for as low as $19 for an hour and a half with unlimited miles and
some spectacular day rates? For those of you that arrive
at a Lowe's in one car and realize that what you
want to buy will not fit. I've actually seen shoppers in front of me paying double or triple this
price for a U-Haul in the store that they're trying to book on their app. And I have told some of the
people at my local Lowe's stores that I saw doing this, some
of whom have become friends, some of whom are now subscribers, and the odd person who
just told me to get away and they thought I was weird. And $19 can go a long way. If you don't wanna wait
for a product delivery and if you just need to
go somewhere, drop it off, and then return within 90 minutes, that might be all you need. For Lowe's shopping
secret bonus number two, I'm not only gonna include one
of the best return policies tied to the Garden Center that
some people don't know about, but there is a section
of the Garden Center that you certainly wanna keep an eye on. You can save up to 80% on plants if you look for the distressed
plant or rescue area of your local Lowe's Garden Center. This is a great area where plants that might need
a little bit of extra help or for these plants,
flowers, trees, shrubs, whatever it is that you
see that came off a truck in a condition that couldn't
quickly be turned around and sold to a consumer, it might just be something that needs a little bit
of water a few extra days, and that up to 80%
reduction is phenomenal. Now, if you are not particularly
strong on plant care, or you don't have a green thumb, you can bring back a dead
shrub, a plant, or perennial to Lowe's within a year for a full refund. You do need a proof of purchase with that, and you will get store
credit for a new plant, but I think that's great. For annuals, Lowe's gives
you a 90-day return window, which is also fantastic in my books. And for bonus shopping
secret number three, and the final one for this video, if you have not yet joined
the Lowe's Loyalty Program, the Lowe's For Pros Loyalty Program does not need to be
something that you avoid just simply because you
aren't a professional or a contractor. Look at me guys, I'm not
that great with all tools. For those of you that have been
watching me for a long time, you know that I am a
tool a lot of the time. But if you join the Lowe's Loyalty Program regardless of your
aptitude as a contractor, you can unlock personalized
offers, special discounts. And on services like Appliance Haul Away, which typically have a
fee associated with them, you can score that Haul
Away completely for free with the purchase of a new appliance if you are part of the
Lowe's Loyalty Program. Now, most importantly, I
wanna extend a huge thank you to the very loyal viewers and
subscribers of the channel who've made it this far into the video. I do appreciate it. If you're seeing me for the
first time and you like this, or you wanna see me tackle more hot tricks or secrets for your
other favorite retailers, drop me a line, leave me a comment, I'll start my research right now. And if you are subscribed with
your notifications turned on, I promise to continue to hook you up with all of that insight. If you wanna join my inner
closest circle of friends, kind of like my own loyalty program, no fee and I will reward
you with more discounts, my phone number,
440-298-2181, 440-298-2181. Just drop me a line, send me a text. Thank you for watching. Bye-bye.
