10 Most Inappropriate Batman Comics Storylines Ever

[Music] what could be more inappropriate than a very rich bachelor adopting an orphaned child trapeze artists and drafting him into his personal war on crime on the basis of years of Batman comics a worrying amount of things frankly the Dark Knight started from the bottom in terms of appropriateness yet he's managed to dig even further down into the bowels of the creep cave over the years let's look at some examples shall we I'm Ben from wot culture and here are the ten most inappropriate Batman comic storylines of all time number ten Robins interest in surrogate sister Batgirl the bat family is spectacularly incestuous it's a good thing their relations in name only otherwise those semi-regular stories which look at the future of crime-fighting in Gotham City would consist of a bunch of inbred idiots in ill-fitting lycra in the second Nightwing annual kid Robin has the first stirrings of puberty whilst trapped in an air vent with Batgirl that better be your utility belt pushing against my leg she growls at him as if a Batman story where Robins boner pushing up against Barbara Gordon isn't already quite close enough to the top of the inappropriate scale once they get freed from their claustrophobic cage by the Caped Crusader himself dick has to hide his namesake behind his cape law number nine the Joker kills an unpopular child another classic Robin moment now as the Joker ended universally despised Robin Jason Todd life it was quite disturbing really after taking a vote on whether or not he should be killed off he was beaten to death with a crowbar by the Joker in the pages of miniseries Batman a death in the family as if Matt wasn't messed up enough this was a title remember especially created so a child could be killed as a result of that popular vote from the comic book readers that is downright psychopathic on account of everyone not just the Joker number eight when Robin got jealous of bat woman most of all bats and his Ward's discuss when they're off the clock is just wilful misinterpretation of admittedly suspect euphemisms in retro comics but there are also places where those who insist Bruce and Dick are up to no good a bang on the money like what happened when that woman turned up and stole Batman's heart probably helped that she was a foxy lady in a skin-tight costume presenting herself to her eligible bachelor who's been living with the child in a cave for half a century but there we go Robin's jealousy never felt like a child rejecting a new stepparent however he was envious about the amount of time Batman and woman spent together number seven the year one retcon where the dark night wet himself Kevin Smith's Batman the widening gyre is an exercise in heaping buckets of the profane atop the sacred beginning with Batman's own history origin story year one is one of the most iconic Dark Knight stories ever told with plenty of classic moments fest among them is the young Batman interrupting a gangsters dinner and informing them their time is up super cool so naturally the widening gyre includes a moment where Batman admits that he was absolutely terrified at that moment so terrified in fact that he wet himself even when he was briefly bat baby didn't wet himself it's just so embarrassing number six smoked weed erryday Kevin Smith got high a lot while writing the widening gyre and working more of his own personal experiences into his work Smith decided the Dark Knight should be a sky high as he was while riding him that's the same Batman everyone who relies on his wits who spends a great deal of time beating up drug dealers who put illegal substances on the streets and is generally a million miles away from the overweight movie hack smoking a doobie before getting around to writing a perennial of the late comic it's truly truly stupefying stupefy and a profile inappropriate cards it's truly stupefying and inappropriate stuff number 5 - faces homophobic blackmail Gotham central is one of the best Dark Knight comics too rarely feature the man himself instead it focuses on the regular police of his city and how they deal with the same threats amongst his cast were recurring members of the Batman's rogues gallery including two faces obsession with police officer Renee Montoya was ported over from the animated series you see the comic book Renee Montoya is gay and so has even less reason to want to do kissing all up in there on Harvey Dent's disgusting scary face she's closeted though because being a gay cop isn't much fun at least she is until two-face publicly out her after she refuses to be blackmailed into accepting his advances that's nice number four the god damn Batman tormentor of orphans Frank Miller's Batman is unlike any other Batman in the Dark Knight Returns that was because Miller skipped a couple of decades into the future to focus on a broken battered elderly Caped Crusader in year one it was because Batman was at the outset of his career in all-star Batman and the Boy Wonder while there was no excuse the series still haven't finished by the time Batman had already called Robin and made him eat rats had sex with Black Canary on top of a motorbiking constantly called himself the god damn Batman and I don't know why he did anything number three whatever happened in Batman Odyssey the Batman Odyssey miniseries is one of the most inexplicable bonkers and indescribable Batman stories ever told even when interviewed artist Neal Adams admitted that it wasn't possible for him to give an overview of the plot it's just too much to account here but these are some particularly objectionable moments that happened within naked Bruce Wayne opens every issue talking directly to the reader and shoots a lot of people it's revealed that the Dark Knight has gym equipment dangled above his bed see Batman has a sex swing and the only women who appear are slaves normal stuff that just fine number two everything about The Killing Joke The Killing Joke is the book where Batman a character for children has to deal with the aftermath of his arch-nemesis crippling a teenage girl before raping her as she lies bleeding on her carpet then taking photos and showing them to the girl's dad the whole point of the story is for the Joker to prove even Commissioner Gordon can go insane from one really bad day since that's what happened to the Joker apparently the story also features foul caricatures of dwarfs and people with developmental disorders who are horrifying monsters that work for the Joker ableism sexual violence poor treatment of mental health issues this Batman comic book really does have it all number one homeless meth addict Bruce Wayne how do you get worse than The Killing Joke look no further than Grant Morrison's experimental much-beloved Batman run which returned a lot of mostly forgotten concepts and characters to the book that hadn't been used for decades one of those was the Batman of Zirin are a Dark Knight from an alien planet at least he was in his original Silver Age appearance in Morrison's hands he's a backup personality Batman meditated for months to install in the back of his brain should anybody ever cause a complete mental collapse in him which a criminal syndicate called the black glove does manage to do in a storyline appropriately called Batman r.i.p somewhat less appropriate is the broken Bruce Wayne becoming a hobo who regularly Huff's a super-powered crystal meth to bring on his sir and our delusions cobbling together a brightly colored costume from literal rubbish and hallucinating bat-mite an alternate reality being who comments on the action and on how rekt Batman is get help Bruce get help and that's our list make sure you subscribe to the wat culture comics YouTube channel for more lists like this and don't forget to visit wot culture comm for daily news articles I'm Ben from wot culture and thanks for watching [Music]
